These are my top speed records at Test Course: 1st place: Bentley Speed8: 478km/h 2nd place: Audi R8 Race Car: 462km/h 3rd place: Sauber Mercedes: 443km/h -->8th place: Suzuki Escudo: 397km/h.
Can't remember if it was GT 3 or 4 but in one of them you could tune the gearbox of a Dodge Viper to get speeds of 400+ km/h while still maintaining acceleration, that is using upgrades you could get in story mode. I think the fastest I got it was about 420km/h on the test ring. I was like 10 at the time so is hard to remember now.
The Suzuki isn't the fastest because it's not built for tracks races. In my opinion the dauber Mercedes is the best car in the game. And the 787b should take out the Suzuki .
If I ever wanted to go back in time, it would be when I first won the Formula GT after doing the 24hr race. The satisfaction of doing a race is incomparable to other racing games in its prime #nostalgia
dude, escudo is far from being the fastest, it's the fastest in Granturismo 2 but not in 4, the other cars are way faster. i know it cause i remember the first time i went in a race with escudo against these other beasts i had no chance. but it changed when i got the Minolta.

For speed: Nissan r92 @355 MPH. Look up the speed tuning for it online. For acceleration: the Escudo dirt trial car without a doubt. Mine runs 7.4 quarter mile with r5 tires and a adjusted tranny. 1+ second advantage on any car I've had (all of them) and for cornering the polyphony formula can take turns on sarthe ii at 200 MPH. If you can't get the formula try the Minolta or the 787b. They both rip.
In terms of being the fastest on the various tracks, I think the Pescarolo is the fastest. I tested it on a lot of tracks versus those other cars and it always came out on top.
@fdespotovski One Lap Time Trials (S License) require the utmost concentration to beat. Driving Missions all of them (with the exception of the third Slipstream Challenge) can all be done by just maintaining calm.
the fastest car in this game is the tuscan speed 12. Trust me. kit it out to the max and lower the down force, you always want to lower the down force when you are doing top speed tests or are on a track with min. turns and mostly straights. You have to adjust your nitrous and time it right so that you are in the little tunnel in the last 50 or so feet maxing out and finishing your nitro. Faster than anything else period.
I changed my mind Id say you might need to finish the Nurburgring 24 hour race to unlock the Formula 1 race car. Its fast and good handling Im sure it can help.
@WarpPal The Gillet Vertigo isn't in the same class as Group C/LMP cars. I don't understand what you mean by "690 is enough for that weight". The Escudo is a rally car speficically designed to participate in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb (it's AWD) so it can be excluded. The R390 weights 100kg more then the opposition (1000kg). The CLK GTR is ok. I'm preety sure the Mazda wouldn't sit there, as I made extensive testing.The Mazda is a rotor car, and it was known not for it's speed, but reliability.

@VrOOm1337 Its hard because you are not controlling your throttle. the PS2 controller is pressure sensitive, in that sense you dont floor it through the corners, you floor it out of them. Try applying light throttle through the corners, once you at a decent speed braking at high speed, THEN floor it. focus on how quickly you can get through those corners, get in, get out, dont leave an interlude of confusion with the throttle or going wide in the turns, form racing line with the apex.
@palicoo93 Oh yea i should. I just haven't played GT4 much anymore cos of the boredom. Ruined the setup of minolta, and it was 470 when i last time tried with old setup lol. Sold gillet cos didn't need it on any races. Zonda (it is btw fully tuned) went 410-420 without nitrous oxide on the highest automatic gearing setup thing there was still the manual way to use but that'd taken million hours to make work. Probably gonna try get nissan R92CP, owns minolta and all others with the handling etc.

@WarpPal Are you ignoring what I am saying? I never said the Toyota 7 is better then the 787B speed-wise. The 787B does not belong on the list. I was talking about 400 meter tests first then you came talking about handling. The Toyota 7 is good in the right hands, extremely good. The tire wear is minimal, and will beat any car on any race that needs pit stops. Sure the 787B has good handling, but so do all the other LMP/Group C cars. Though the GT-ONE does stand out. And what about the V12's?
@VrOOm1337 Im not concerned about 400 meter tests bud, because that is a 1 sided way of testing how fast these cars are, excuse if I misinterpreted your point. The Toyota 7 is fast and has high endurance, but NOT faster than any newer cars in its class, which was MY point, AND its more unstable at high speed, the usual problem with old race cars. Most GT1 cars in Gran Turismo gain about 100 HP after you buy them, the 787's stock HP is 690, the GTONE's is 599...really??

So many people are wrong about the escudo. It's not the fastest car in the game its top speed is around 220-230 it's the QUICKEST car in the game meaning acceleration wise it's fast but not the fastest.
Oh,of course. Endurance races with the damn thing are great. BTW, you can get the one at special condition races, the two very bottom ones. I can't remember which.
you know that fully tuned the fastest car is the sauber merc, 2nd is the toyota GT-one and 3rd is the suzuki scudo. and the biggest mistake is putting the scudo in first place because when not tuned it won't overtake a sauber merc or the toyota GT1 with them not tune as well... and I just realized that this comment is a bit of a mess... sorry......
i tuned my volkswagen w16 to go 286 mph and my audi r8 to go 299 mph. I'm not sure if this list was on the cars being stock or not...but those were my two fastest
Topkek, why is the Suzuki ESCUDO first? It has surely a high acceleration and max speed, but it's indeed slower compared to the other cars you mentioned.
Back in the previous GTs it was a straight line killer. But from GT4 and so on it was nerfed. It's the only acceleration king or the ultra vtec car of Gran Turismo just look at it's power curve, it's slow at low rpms but once it reaches certain rpm it kicks in.
@WarpPal You almost got it right, but the R92CP is overrated. The 5 fastest Le Mans cars in the game are (by order and in terms of the times they have done on the 400 meter test) the Minolta, the R89C, BMW V12 LMR, Sauber Mercedes and Audi R8 (I don't remember if the Jag could fit there since it's also a naturally aspirated V12 and I did this test a long time ago).
@VrOOm1337 Some missions are harder, some are easier, not all. The PSP version actually has challenges that were directly inspired from the challenges from Gran Turismo 4 AND some previous ones too, just with mush more precise physics, and are thus much harder than any region specific GT4 since it was built off of Gran Turismo 5's engine, the only difference is its not mandatory. Those challenges will make Gran Turismo 4's seem very easy trust me I know first hand.
yay, the R92CP is my favorite car, i've got 3 and also, if you drive the Vertigo in arcade mode and set the power at +20% and weight -20% and race in Sarthe II, it can go up to 285 mph when you're behind another car
I'm sorry to say this but you're wrong, the SUZUKI ESCUDO is not among the 10 fastest cars in GT4, I did a series of tests and the result was : 1- POLYPHONE FORMULA GT , 2 - TOYOTA MINOLTA , 3 - MAZDA 787B , 4 - MERCEDES SAUBER , 5 - NISSAN R92CP , 6 - JAGUAR XJR9 , 7 - NISSAN R89C , 8 - PESCAROLO PLAYSTATION , 9 - AUDI R8 and 10 - BENTLEY SPEED 8 , after these cars had some more until you reach the SUZUKI ESCUDO , he was among the 17 place , Amazingly he was behind the CHEVROLET CAMARO LM .
@WarpPal Nope. It's all on the gears. If you do the corner in 2nd gear, the engine will be at high rpm and the torque will kick in, and your wheels WILL spin, no matter if you've done the corner correctly or not. You need to do the corner in 3rd so that you go through it at a lower rpm. LIke I said, I play GT4 since 2006, I know very much what I am talking about. I Golded ALL LIcense Tests and ALL Driving MIssions, ALL Rally Races, so on, even the Speedster Race.

@VrOOm1337 I meant exactly what I said, I bet the R8's power to weight is about the same, it has 100 more HP AND 60kg more weight, and since the 787 is lighter than that and the Minolta thats going to give it a speed advantage, there are few cylinders in the rotary engine so that translates to better response, a wide torque curve, less gears, and no lag from the turbos, I remember winning a race with this car, all other GT1 cars present, this car is not as slow as your making it.
Forgot to mention keep default settings on the transmission. think its at 11. Also, its the fastest thing you can race on dirt and snow. can't do that with the sauber or any other formula huh?
@WarpPal Nope. The Mazda is fast but preety sure it doesn't make it in. About the 905, it has a broken transmission so it's actually the slowest of all Le Mans cars I tested (1 second slower then Minolta). I think I am right... I don't think the Mazda weights less then the Minolta. And even if it did, it should be slower anyways because even if it has 700HP the Minolta has 919HP. The Minolta is lighter then most (847kg or so) except the Toyota 7 (600kg) and Peugeot 905 that only weights 750kg.
i got a 15,000 dollar toyota supra rz and put everything on it and tuned it to go fast in a strait line. everything is perfect on it and i got it up to 295 mph, how fast is the fastest one of those? just curious
i think the pick of the bunch is the toyota minolta,i really wanna unlock the nissan RC89P,but after i just sat through nearly 5 hours on the endurance 1000km, to unlock the RC92P,i dont think ill be sitting through that again,plus i was very dissapointed in the car ,very bad handling compared to the nissan gt1 and the minolta,im suprised u didnt include the nissan R390.thats a monster of a car.does anyone know a cheat to unlock a polyphonic f1 car,i mean who would sit through a 24 hour race?
@WarpPal Any group C/LMP/classic race car has wonderful handling if you can control them period. It's just that some are easier to drive then others. I don't understand what are you talking about HP now? Endurance, the Audi R8, Bentley speed 8, BMW V12, and Pescarolos have advantage there. I believe I already said this, but the Mazda 787B isn't represented correctly in GT4, as in real life it wasn't all that fast. What made it win the '91 24 Hours was the reliability of the Rotor engine.

in GT4 suzuki was really fast but somehow a little hard to controle it's damn fast , but in GT2 oh god it was so badass!

i done a tune set up for the audi r8 and now it does 308mph
So many people are wrong about the escudo. It's not the fastest car in the game its top speed is around 220-230 it's the QUICKEST car in the game meaning acceleration wise it's fast but not the fastest.
Pescarolo can go up to 500km and lift off the ground with no hax

you know that fully tuned the fastest car is the sauber merc, 2nd is the toyota GT-one and 3rd is the suzuki scudo. and the biggest mistake is putting the scudo in first place because when not tuned it won't overtake a sauber merc or the toyota GT1 with them not tune as well... and I just realized that this comment is a bit of a mess... sorry......
i tuned my volkswagen w16 to go 286 mph and my audi r8 to go 299 mph. I'm not sure if this list was on the cars being stock or not...but those were my two fastest

Topkek, why is the Suzuki ESCUDO first?
It has surely a high acceleration and max speed, but it's indeed slower compared to the other cars you mentioned.
It have the most violent acceleration in the game. Just change the gear ratios.
Back in the previous GTs it was a straight line killer. But from GT4 and so on it was nerfed. It's the only acceleration king or the ultra vtec car of Gran Turismo just look at it's power curve, it's slow at low rpms but once it reaches certain rpm it kicks in.

@fdespotovski It took me 4 days with endless play to beat mission 34..yes it was extremely difficult the hardest I race I've ever done.
Minolta toyota, I used to drive others like the suzuki scudo but it was very difficult to drive. And the 787B, amazing car too :)
@WarpPal You almost got it right, but the R92CP is overrated. The 5 fastest Le Mans cars in the game are (by order and in terms of the times they have done on the 400 meter test) the Minolta, the R89C, BMW V12 LMR, Sauber Mercedes and Audi R8 (I don't remember if the Jag could fit there since it's also a naturally aspirated V12 and I did this test a long time ago).
@VrOOm1337 Some missions are harder, some are easier, not all. The PSP version actually has challenges that were directly inspired from the challenges from Gran Turismo 4 AND some previous ones too, just with mush more precise physics, and are thus much harder than any region specific GT4 since it was built off of Gran Turismo 5's engine, the only difference is its not mandatory. Those challenges will make Gran Turismo 4's seem very easy trust me I know first hand.

and also, if you drive the Vertigo in arcade mode and set the power at +20% and weight -20% and race in Sarthe II, it can go up to 285 mph when you're behind another car
I'm sorry to say this but you're wrong, the SUZUKI ESCUDO is not among the 10 fastest cars in GT4, I did a series of tests and the result was : 1- POLYPHONE FORMULA GT , 2 - TOYOTA MINOLTA , 3 - MAZDA 787B , 4 - MERCEDES SAUBER , 5 - NISSAN R92CP , 6 - JAGUAR XJR9 , 7 - NISSAN R89C , 8 - PESCAROLO PLAYSTATION , 9 - AUDI R8 and 10 - BENTLEY SPEED 8 , after these cars had some more until you reach the SUZUKI ESCUDO , he was among the 17 place , Amazingly he was behind the CHEVROLET CAMARO LM .
@WarpPal Nope. It's all on the gears. If you do the corner in 2nd gear, the engine will be at high rpm and the torque will kick in, and your wheels WILL spin, no matter if you've done the corner correctly or not. You need to do the corner in 3rd so that you go through it at a lower rpm. LIke I said, I play GT4 since 2006, I know very much what I am talking about. I Golded ALL LIcense Tests and ALL Driving MIssions, ALL Rally Races, so on, even the Speedster Race.

i have in gt4 the 99 year nissan skyline its have over 800 bhp and holy shit its fast and the escudo have best accelaration
@willguitar1000 I didn't mean fastest on only ovals (test course, indianapolis, daytona...) , but generally fastest on all tracks ;)
@despotovski01 no you can just downlaod the code breaker put it on a USB stick and enable codes once its hooked up too the Ps2

* That Toyota Minolta 88C-V will last you for a long time for many races. An indispensable car.
* That Bentley Speed 8 maybe a legend, but isn't worth the total effort needed to obtain it.
* The Pescarolos are very sturdy cars, and are worth the price.
* Audi R8 is nice, but has heavy deceleration at peak speed.
* The Suzuki Escudo was cheap in the 2nd game, but not as much here.
* I declare the Nissan R92CP to be the most worthy car to get.

@despotovski01 can you get more horsepower out of a car by upgrading the NA performance 1st, then add a turbocharger later for more power?
Anybody notice how all the cars are race cars? All but one have probably been used in Le Mans at least once.
@VrOOm1337 I meant exactly what I said, I bet the R8's power to weight is about the same, it has 100 more HP AND 60kg more weight, and since the 787 is lighter than that and the Minolta thats going to give it a speed advantage, there are few cylinders in the rotary engine so that translates to better response, a wide torque curve, less gears, and no lag from the turbos, I remember winning a race with this car, all other GT1 cars present, this car is not as slow as your making it.

Forgot to mention keep default settings on the transmission. think its at 11. Also, its the fastest thing you can race on dirt and snow. can't do that with the sauber or any other formula huh?
@WarpPal Nope. The Mazda is fast but preety sure it doesn't make it in. About the 905, it has a broken transmission so it's actually the slowest of all Le Mans cars I tested (1 second slower then Minolta). I think I am right... I don't think the Mazda weights less then the Minolta. And even if it did, it should be slower anyways because even if it has 700HP the Minolta has 919HP. The Minolta is lighter then most (847kg or so) except the Toyota 7 (600kg) and Peugeot 905 that only weights 750kg.
i got a 15,000 dollar toyota supra rz and put everything on it and tuned it to go fast in a strait line. everything is perfect on it and i got it up to 295 mph, how fast is the fastest one of those? just curious
i think the pick of the bunch is the toyota minolta,i really wanna unlock the nissan RC89P,but after i just sat through nearly 5 hours on the endurance 1000km, to unlock the RC92P,i dont think ill be sitting through that again,plus i was very dissapointed in the car ,very bad handling compared to the nissan gt1 and the minolta,im suprised u didnt include the nissan R390.thats a monster of a car.does anyone know a cheat to unlock a polyphonic f1 car,i mean who would sit through a 24 hour race?
what about the formula gran turismo that is won from nurburging 24 hr in endurance events or the secret black cars that appear in the show rooms?

@WarpPal Any group C/LMP/classic race car has wonderful handling if you can control them period. It's just that some are easier to drive then others. I don't understand what are you talking about HP now? Endurance, the Audi R8, Bentley speed 8, BMW V12, and Pescarolos have advantage there. I believe I already said this, but the Mazda 787B isn't represented correctly in GT4, as in real life it wasn't all that fast. What made it win the '91 24 Hours was the reliability of the Rotor engine.
