What an amazing analysis! Thanks for sharing this content. I hope you can create some content for iRacing newcomers like myself, haha. I'd definitely like to learn more about the proper FFB adjustments for the Logitech G29 in iRacing, so it feels as realistic as possible. Of course, within the limits of what's achievable with an entry-level wheel like this.
This is the most brilliant comparison I have seen of GT7 with any other more serious Simulators....Most people would just concentrate on which game is doing things more realistically and then give the final verdict but you actually explained what exactly both games are doing differently and why both are still great for what they are trying to offer
@@mrmidnight32 I think iRacing is better than ACC when it comes to transitioning to real life to drive most cars. ACC is a great sim if you're going to drive a GT3 car in real life with top-tech assists like TC and ABS, but if you're driving a car with no abs or shitty abs, iRacing will prepare you much better.
@@mrmidnight32ACC does GT3 racing only, so it better do a better job of that than iRacing does. That doesn't make it a better sim. It makes it better for GT3 racing. That's not the same thing. Want to race GT3 cars against AI? Pick ACC. Want to race in 10s (more likely 100s) of different classes, 24x7, against real people, in graded, clean (well, as clean as open on-line racing gets) races, then iRacing is the only choice. The choice is what makes sim racing amazing. People determined to say one is better than all the others is what makes it toxic.
@@RacingAnt Those races you mentioned cost extra money per car and track, not to mention a monthly fee. iRacing is objectively not worth it if you use a grading system. The collision model is ridiculous and AMS2 tier, not to mention that the sound is mediocre in all cars all around, and it all gets topped down by really, really, really, really shitty graphics that are PS3 era quality. This is why nobody likes iRacing except pro drivers like Verstappen or Norris, for whom 10k for all content may seem like nothing are using it for fun anyway. The only realistic car they have is the mercedes 13 and 12 because of the co-work with merc engineers. Everything else is pretty much amateur level like AC or AMS2 with mediocre FFB, physics and handling. For 10€ a month, I expect much more quality across the board, good collision phyiscs and good graphics. iRacing has none of those. It's just a really expensive version of rfactor2 or AMS2, but it actually looks far worse than AMS2 so it's not even above the lower tier of sims lol. This game has nothing else to offer but W13 and that's why nobody except hardcore sim-racers care about it. You can't make a good game with just one good car. For ACC, you get a premium experience with most cars and tracks, good collision phyics and by sim racing standards, good graphics (not even close to Rennsport or GT7 but still far above iRacing) hence why most people choose the cheaper, yet more premium option over the more expensive, but worse looking, playing, feeling, looking game. iRacing will become obsolete once Rennsport and AC2 become a thing, it's just not a viable business model.
@@gameurai5701 ok, race formula ford in ACC. Case closed. I'm not bothered about which is best, nor debating it with you. The 10,000 people that log onto iRacing every day obviously think it's worth paying the money. I've said ACC is better for GT3 - but it's way worse for any open wheel car. Accept that others want different things from their sims, and get over yourself.
As a lifelong gran turismo fan, and someone who can’t really afford to get into more serious sim racing, I appreciate this comparison. It’s nice to know the techniques I’m developing in gt7 aren’t trash too. Your point about sportsman and driver rankings is one I share, I’ve had friends get into gt7 and tell me it’s trash because everyone is a noob, and I’ve tried to explain that, once you move up, the competition is quite good and much more respectful.
Even rFactor 2 is better than iracing realism wise but it's boring iracing is decent just trash for the price you pay, and gt7 of course is the best price to performance wise this dude just wants views.
That wasn't my experience. I got to a+ rather quickly but no matter what, I would get shunted and punted off every time I made an outside pass. The lack of sportsmanship is what drove me away from gt7 and to iracing.
@@mikekovacich2925 try, idk, not squeezing people to the last inch, I figured that out real quick with the AI even in Hard difficulty. Not everyone is gonna see you as a god and back out for you every time people are entitled to their race as well.
@@mikekovacich2925 the driver ranking is gunna matter much less than sportsman ranking. Lot high driver/low sportsman ranked folk cus they get good results from dirty tactics. You get to S tier sportsman and, generally, everyone is pretty clean, no matter the driver rank.
I'm a teacher (arts). You are an excellent teacher, with a comprehensive understanding of your subject, the ability to see the tiniest details but also have a great and fair-minded overview perspective, and the language to articulate your understanding that is easily digestible. I've been looking for someone online to give a comprehensive review of the difference in physics between real racing and sim/semi-sim (I play GT7), and you illuminated those differences so well that I believe I can imagine what it is actually like to race IRL much better than before. Well done, mate. I'm sure your students are very fortunate to have your guidance.
seeing the response in discord where people where shaming you for playing this was interesting, if only they trusted your decisions and weren't so touchy about what choices you make. Keep up the good work and keep making great content.
@@joshriver75 I used to play gran turismo 5. I remember the elitists of Iracing and rFactor , always downplaying other games. Now I play Iracing and I just don't see the need of it.
Great video. As a fair beginner in GT7, I want to improve and learn more but find there is a lot of 'snobbyness' around certain sims, especially from people who moved away from GT7 and now think it's somehow beneath them. I'm glad that you highlighted that you can improve and find good racing in any game.
@@miltiadiskyvernitis To be fair I don't play much GT7 anymore. Mostly due to not having a playstation anymore, but also due to buying a PC and literally ALL the current sim racing titles. I can still safely say though that GT7 holds up, is great fun and definitely a great way to get into sim racing.
The thing between these two, in my opinion, is that iRacing offers top notch physics, while not dominating in terms of content or graphics. And what GT offers, is a good enough physics model, while having a large amount and variety of cars, from commuters, crazy concept cars, GT4,3,2,1 cars and so on. As well as it's beautiful graphics and a comprehensive weather system, and other features (photo mode, livery editor, etc). This is why I am sticking to GT, not to mention it's a one-time purchase for a title. Then again, I'm just a casual driver (B driver rating in GT), and iRacing wouldn't be very suitable for me. No hate on iRacing though, it's equally good on some aspects ! 😅
@@icebrewooof idk about that. I have both gt7 and ac and acc and neither of them compare to gt7 imo. No lifelong fanboy either, came from forza. To me, AC is so bad I won’t even turn it back on
@@d14_x80ac with mods is by far the most realistic (and best looking) sim for driving street cars, and with mods you can drive literally any car you want acc is just gt3, simulator kinda a one trick pony if you ask me. I have iracing is very realistic in the actual online racing aspect, Penalties, rating system, choice of competitive racing series etc. I haven't played gt7, but with it being a simcade, i know it wont compete with the realism of ac or the competitiveness of iracing, and its not trying too. The appeal I gt7 is completely different than the other two. Sidenote, are you using a wheel, and did you play modded ac?
@@icebrewno, just as you haven’t played gt7 I have not played modded ac so I can not form an opinion on it. I have a full rig that I game on (dd pro/vr2/skakers/etc)
Problem I have with IRacing is you have a monthly payment. Even if you spend some money in GT7 It is probably cheaper. VR2 has made screens obsolete for me. It is unbelievable. it’s like you are inside every car.
The quick in-and-out of laps on GT7 makes it the winner for me. I've played tons of ACC and other sims on PC, and it just takes way too long to get something good going online. Too much tweaking, organizing, and stuff like that. GT7 is plug-n-play and it takes seconds to get into a good race.
@@labpong7562 I work on a Windows/Linux PC 8-9 hours a day, and I work with IT technology. The absolute last thing I want to do after work is sit down in front of a horrible Windows PC again.
i got gt7 for ps5 and i had no clue about the simracing community. started racing online and within a 3 months i had a t300 and loadcells and had gotten gold in all of the licenses. good thing i already had a gaming pc or else this hobby would’ve put me into debt because now a little less than a year later, I have a full simagic/heusinkveld/next level racing setup😆 point is: I would’ve never gotten into sim racing or cars in general if not for GT. it was simultaneously the worst and best purchase ive made LOL
I found gran turismo 4 earlier this year from a yt video and in turn found gran turismo 7. this franchise has shaped my hobbies, what i watch, and most importantly my motivation. I push myself at work and college everyday so i can have the nicest sim rig on the planet one day. Can’t wait for my wheel to finish my rig, just need a qr1, and some pedals. Happy racing man, good video
Nice and educated review - not very opinionated and entertainment-focused... purely focused on giving an objective and realistic review, and that on its own is entertainment for such video types(reviews) Good job!
I recently just got iRacing after competing online in gt7. It made my iRacing experience a lot more enjoyable. IRacing felt like gt7 but with a much stronger connection to the car and the ability to predict oversteer and when brakes lock. It also feels as if u approach a corner iRacing u have a lot more ways to approach a corner fast, but in gran tourismo there’s only one optimal way to go through a corner fast
I love GT7, bever played iRacing. In GT it makes you feel as if regardless of FWD or RWD you always need to take turns with "steer off the throttle". Which totally isn't the case for FWD. Otherwise it taight me a lot of control over gas and brake input.
I have tried almost every simulator out there, and my favorite racing game nowadays is GT7. The level of detail in the game and the PSVR2 give it an incredible immersion. A lot of people get hung up on what’s the best simulator, many say iracing is the best. Here is my problem, I’m a regular guy that doesn’t have access to racing cars, I just drive normal cars and I occasionally go to track days. For that reason GT7 is a better simulator for me as it has normal street cars, which you can’t find in iracing. You can certainly find real life physics in GT7, and things that I have learned in the game I have been able to apply IRL. If your goal is to become a race car driver and you are fortunate enough that this can be a realistic dream in your life, iracing should be your best bet. If you’re a regular guy wanting to improve his driving skills, GT7 is an excellent option.
@@kak8895 Interesting, can you please explain why? I haven’t tried that one before, what’s their wheel support? Do they have the license to real brands or do you have to download mods?
As an HPDE3 driver I couldn’t agree with you more. Tried both and preferred GT for the exact reasons you stated. Just wish PS5 would also offer 32:9 view and be compatible with motion control units.
@@MrRaphaelLippi Not trolling, GT7 is the last game on any list for learning to drive. Engines have zero inertia, engines don't stall, engine load up is inaccurate, ABS/TCS/ESC simulation is dissimilar to reality, Automatic transmission is completely inaccurate to reality, no DCT/CVT transmissions, no configurable drive modes for some of its everyday cars, engine sounds during deceleration is flat, clutch characteristics are flat, suspensions are flat and too rigid, chassis flex is nonexistent. There's way more problems but I'll chill for now. It's an arcade game at best. As this video has covered up the slip angles are too narrow and tyres are too unpredictable.
With PSVR2..GT7 literally shits on the other sims It's now compatible with 120fps...graphics are still by far the best. And you have normal road cars. Oh and the lobbies are actually populated. Lot more content. It's a no brainer at this point.
Totally clueless. Try actually driving Assetto Corsa on PC through Content Manager before talking out your ass. Plus every PC sim still runs more simulation. GT7 is cute and fun to drive but still not serious.
Its not that simple. GT7 vr really raised the bar by a lot when it comes to vr racing. One thing for sure is that GT7 is above everything else when it comes to details inside cars. Its unbelievable how much work the devs put into making these cars look EXACTLY like in real life. Every button on the center console, every little detail and even the material structure inside the car: you can literally feel and smell the surface of the alcantara leather in some expensive cars. The scaling is also on point: I was shocked when I switched from the lowered sports cars to a Ford Raptor and how high you actually sit in that car and how big the car is inside, feels like driving a truck. I play AC religiously too but only on PS5 due to the big screen on the tv. I have it on PC too and took a small look into the modding with custom shaders and some fancy modded cars. Sure, the driving physics are WAY above GT7, thats undeniable and while GT7 focuses more on the details and history of cars, AC makes up with the exact details on how the actual car works: thottle blipping for example. Like I said, I only took a small look into mods but wasnt very impressed from what I saw. Some cars are really well done by some modders who put an insane work into it but I mostly found myself driving modded cars which are "ok" as you can clearly see these were made as a hobby by someone other but not the actual devs. And thats the reason why I've never liked mods in any game with some exceptions (games like Skyrim and so on...). Also the more you go into graphic mods in AC the more demanding the game gets obviously. GT7 vr has to be tried to understand why it impresses people so much. I've showed the vr mode to friends and siblings and I love it when new people try it out because then I can see their reactions and its always hilarious to see how grown people suddenly get so happy with a videogame ;-) @@oxzak9093
Thanks for the analysis. Very impressive stuff. As a GT7 offline campaign mode player on PSVR2, I find it very curious that pro sim players believe GT7 is less forgiving than in iracing and real life. You’d think it would be the opposite, as gt7 is commonly badged as being “arcadey” as opposed to the more puritan like simulators such as iracing and AC.
One thing to note, the higher rank you are in GT, the less ghosting there is. So if you were in B or A DR and S SR, there will be no ghosting unless a penalty is applied. I'm also interested in the braking techniques because it seems GT7 and ACC match while iRacing takes a completely different approach.
Great detailed review. Wow! In 2017 I bought a 718 Cayman S and started tracking about 6 times a year. Same time also got thrustmaster GT 300RS and tried all at the same time. IRacing, GTSPORT, assetto corsa. Purpose was to have fun and improve my track skills. IRACING just felt more complicated than I cared for and surprisingly preferred the driving physics of GT. Even the bumps on Nurburgring felt more realistic. Assetto Corsa car control felt weird and overly dramatic when loosing control. Makes me wonder if all this depends on the steering brand. Anyway, returned my PC and stayed with GT but makes me wonder how things have changed since. Today my fanatec DD PRO arrives and can’t wait to see how much better it is. But also makes me wonder again about sim racing :)
I liked the video. For $70, GT7 is in a damn league of it's own. All tracks and cars are added to the game for free. Free VR support, rain and day/night time transitions. iRacing obviously wins the "sim" genre, where as GT7 blurs the line between Sim and Arcade. For a fraction of the cost and the ability to race with a Gamepad or Wheel makes GT7 a damn hard contender. Keep up the videos, you got a sub.
R3e is a pretty decent racing simulation. It has not the best graphics, but the physics and ffb are very good. And if you focus more on GT3‘s you can try ACC. Both are very good and affordable racing simulations. (Just a suggestion if you are looking for a „true“ simulation and an alternative for GT7)
@@pushthelimits4062 yes but unfortunately acc doesn't provide the lfm format on PS5 😔 i bought it for that but now it seems like i can't enjoy it online.. still enjoy the offline racing tho, cpu is prettig good as you have a wide range of difficulty
4:20 GT7 has had major physics changes back and forth but for most cars slip angle has a good range and feel, even with a controller because of the vibration feedback. Maybe I just focus to much on it since I drive more Sport tire than Race setups
Sick video! Grew up with gran tourismo n got into race games because of it, sadly tho i had no idea of the gaming world before recent years, in my 30's now n its prob too late for me to get heavy into sim racing, plus wouldnt even know where to begin, no pc doesnt help, keep living the dream!
When it comes to arcade with a feeling and a sensation I think Drive Club still holds its ground even today. It is a shame we never ever got a Drive Club 2. What makes Drive Club great is that it was road cars on roads ... amazing visuals and one of the best interiors up to date. Super and Hyper class were a bit too arcade , but the sweetspot was the Performance and Sports class.
A very good write up and totally agree about the big change in trail breaking grip feel through the Logitech G Pro Wheel. I’ve only been driving a month since VR2 launched but turn in trail breaking grip felt too strong and before 1.31 but I hit apexes more regularly now. I’m loving GT7 and only a B SR driver but the level of respect is high even at this grade I feel.
The understeer is a deal breaker for me. Been there since GT3. I do not recall GT2 feeling like that. I honestly cannot enjoy the game because of this. But as always have been saying for years, what you gain and learn from all these games can be applied to real life or any other game because at the very minimum they all work on the same basis. Even on a controller, you learn what a line is, a turning point, a breaking point, what oversteer and understeer is, even if you do not have the proper application of it due to controller it has a lot of information there you can learn from and if even on a controller it is adding to you then I would say ALL these experiences definitely add to your skill overall. Simple idea is don't do on the road what you would do on the track. Either keep it on the track or in sim racing or simcade or whatever (once upon a time GT was simply considered a sim racer but anyway, its all the same just different levels imo). But what your every day driving adds is the understanding more of what is happening. Even aiming to drive safely for yourself and others around you, these concepts make you a better safe driver too. And perhaps some day may help in a situation that is forced on you as well. But yeah in terms of preferences, from the now simcade front FM was always more to my steering liking, but tbh I phased out of FM too for many years. Was absent from racing games for quite some time, and recently picked up AC. So much fun and so happy I did. And the steering is just how I want it. So seeing GT7 is STILL on the low end really turns me off. I couldn't stand it back in the day and still can't stand it now. Feels like I am forcing myself to drive in a certain way whereas even FM felt like I could adapt more realistically to a track. GT is much more as you say, focused on the line of a turn. This also teaches you a lot, but after you learn the line of a turn, there is so much more and that is the level I am at even for gaming for a long time now. So not having that level of control is a deal breaker to the point of not making the game playable, so I don't bother at all at that point. And seeing as we have so many other options now, well, I feel there is even less a reason to play GT7, much less the new FM.
As a bike racer, I don't need perfect car physics, I need immersion and close racing to keep me sharp. GT7 VR excels at this, it feels so real. Just did a 45min 'ring race at night in wet conditions I was literally sweating. Unbelievable.
I don't know back then but now is fine both of them. You need an expensive pc to run iracing but with ps5 and a psvr2 you are in the game. The community's are huge for both of them especially in gt7. More cars in gt7 and user friendly.
Im slowly getting into Time Attack irl, and I came from iRacing background. I have gotta say, with the habits that I developed from iRacing really helped me on track driving. IRL, you can tell a lot quicker with the grip level from your vehicle than iRacing.
Great video. I myself am a GT7 to iRacing product. With my first ever racing game being GT7. It was a great place to start, and iRacing is perfect for those looking to get to the next level of the sim racing experience
I started sim racing back when GT was new on the PS1. Made me a better driver as an adult. Fisherman's ranch is GT7's sueto-Nurburgring dirt track. Hard to master. Even harder in cockpit cam for VR. I was doing the circuit experience and something just clicked about using the audio to track shift points instead of using the tack or the HUD. Days landing 3.11. Now I'm comfortable in the 3.7 range.
Great comparison! 👍 As a long-term PlayStation user, I will always favour Gran Turismo games as they are much more accessible. While I've never raced in a real race car, I often drive a domestic road car and van and find that playing GT has improved my real-life wheel and pedal inputs, even though the game physics are not true to real life. Play whichever game suits you best and enjoy the drive my friends!
I've played also most of the Gran Turismo titles and honestly when I saw the Super Speed Ring and Daytona I just screamed in happiness. Motorsports was, and now is again, a major part of my life
You are very eloquent and know how to transmit your message in a very clear and entertaining way. Big props to you. Would love for you to check out and give us you feedback on AMS2 1.5. It likes a slidey driving that is nothing like iRacing
I’m just ordered the vr2. I HOPE it is all I want. Because of that I ordered the wheel and stand too (had an Xbox version but not the biggest fan of fh5 right now).
Nice comparison, whats the top age for a try en real racing? Im 42 😅 and im still learning a lot of this, i use psvr 2 gran turismo 7, asetto corsa ps5 and pc.
Great video, one thing though anyone who is searching for the real authentic racing driver experience in any racing game simply needs to do a few simple things. Get a real racing seat for your setup, wear a bunch of layers of clothing, crank up the heat, (to simulate in car temps) and when doing longer stints pee in your seat. Ive been doing this for years now and it really has elevated my experience and Im sure its made me a better driver. Its gotta be the pee right? It cant be the hours and hours of practice.
Loved this comparison! The snap oversteer in GT is real haha, and the only thing I don't like about that game. It makes reckless driving really hard and less rewarding. It's especially twitchy with the lightweight cars I love the most. The neutral steer issue got me thinking, too. I certainly did that regularly in a real car, and have a hell of a time pulling it off in GT, it just doesn't "click" for me. I mean I might be picking the wrong cars for that, or just lack the "resolution" in my thumbs (playing with the controller), idk. But this narrower margin of error does explain a lot! Overall though, I do love GT7 and the fact that it plays so wonderfully well without assists on a controller, you can just sit down every morning with a coffee, run a quick lap or two and get on with your day. That is hard to beat, and I feel that that's a strong selling point for people who are car enthusiasts, but not sim enthusiasts (let's be honest, sim racing got waay to serious for the most of us).
It is absolutely wild to me that it is possible today to be drafted for a real race car, if you are a really good sim racer. It makes sense, but... The possibility is astonishing, look 10 years back you could forget about that. I am really happy for you guys having that option!
Arcade is need for speed and similar games. Ya’ll swear an average person will just pick up gt7. Most people find it chalanging. Unlike like Need for speed or burnout.
right? ive even heard beamng being called a "simcade". most people crash within a minute of driving a car in beamng. that sort of thing doesnt happen in an arcade game.
@@static7985 GT7 is in no shape or form a "simcade"... it's a simulator because the ONLY way to go faster is through proper driving technique, PERIOD. Sure, the FFB in games like ACC, Automobilista 2 or iRacing is more detailed but saying GT7 is not a racing simulation is absolutely stupid because without proper technique you'll be at the back of the grid every race. I'm currently playing Automobilista 2 against the AI and I have more fun than racing real life people on ACC... being a "competitive" sim-racer is the most overrated thing about sim-racing... most races against humans are absolute dogcrap and you end up being taken out by some overeager Verstappen-wannabe that ends your race only to get even more frustrated when LFM punishes you on top of it by destroying your safety rating because every crash is "everyone's fault" I am now racing against the AI on Automobilista 2 and it's the most fun I've had in months... every race is fun, the AI is really fast on the high difficulty settings but it's racing clean and forces you to have good driving habits... all in all, going away from the "competitive" LFM scene is the best choice I ever made in sim-racing... now I play AMS2 for track racing and EA WRC for a great rally experience on my sim rig and I'm actually HAPPY and not frustrated... I want to have fun, not to prove to any moron out there how "talented" I am...
Anyone who thinks gt7 is challenging hasn't tried iRacing. It's checkers vs chess. That being said it IS more realistic than NFS and Forza Horizon (arcade) hence the in-between name, sim cade. Gt7 only feels like a sim to someone who hasn't tried a real sim..ask yourself this question: what do professional irl drivers use? Gt7 or iRacing?
which one of Assetto Corsa, Automobilista & iRacing have overwhelming long career mode with diverse cars similar to GT 7 on PC? because im not into online racing. 1822
I cant afford to get into iRacing, but i do play ACC from time to time when i want a more professional competitive online racing, plus the community cares more about not crashing. Gt 7 is the best car collection game imo, gives you that vibe and most lobbies that do freeruns are all about the community showing off their cars. This would blow up into something bigger is PD created a 50 player hub for USA, Europe, and Japan each
That was very brilliant! Could you do another one of these videos except with two oval simcade games NASCAR Heat 5 vs. World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing? Or two actual sim racing titles Automobilista vs. Assetto Corsa? It's actually neat watching these videos. Just now subscribed, hope to learn more from the best!
It seems like many of you started racing game from Gran Turismo or Need for Speed or iRacing. I started with Road Fighter and Formula One: Built to Win on Nintendo NES. Here I am now playing GT7 with controller only.
I get more rotation and better trail braking with abs off and adjusting the brake balance, for example in gt3 cars i set brake balance more on the rear (2/3 levels)
Looks like the new physics model is now more like iracing. It gives so much more oversteer rotation on trail braking and is not so forgiving anymore. Have to get used to it.
Thank you for the video first and foremost. Secondly, would you mind making a video for your steering wheel settings for GT7? I'm looking to purchase the same setup (Logitech Pro) and for cockpit the Trophy G. Would also love to know if you are ever on Nürburgring for public meetup on GT7, it's been fun driving on there for stress release. Would be nice to race alongside you, even just to learn better line, braking techniques from a chase. You've been incredibly helpful for my racing development and appreciate all your hard work and efforts. When I get my wheel I would love to see if you have coaching bandwidth available to take on another student, cheers!
GT7 with the G29 wheel in VR2 is fire, but it will spin you in the wrong direction in many circumstances that can def feel arcade-ish. IE: Sometimes I'll just approach a turn, bump the outside wall at 10 mph, and the car does a 180 and I'll lose 5-8 seconds😂. Sometimes as you come back on the track, you'll find you will go perpendicular right across the track to the opposite side of the same turn before you can steer normally again. There are times you can tell the game is attempting to keep you off balance (usually when your approaching 4th 3rd 2nd & 1st) So as you try to gain a position, you'll find the brakes don't work quit as good, or the accelerator will lag coming out of turns, or steering becomes marginally exaggerated. Interestingly, I have performed my best with the steering sensitivity turned ALL the way down to -2.
I do mainly iRacing but I do own GT7 and even Forza (it is terrible though). I play them both because they are fun and relaxing but still gets to feed my love for cars. They are also a memory of childhood and something I can enjoy with my son.. I do use a controller on GT7 though because my wheel isnt compatible and I enjoy these more as a relaxing experience.
Imo games like these are much more important to beginners than games like iRacing. When the game is not too serious on being realistic and has a more arcadey feeling to it that's a great start for beginners. I, myself started with NFS Shift and that helped me alot in learning the etiquette and rules of real driving
If you turn off Traction Control in GT7 and become one with the throttle, everything gets way better. Excess understeer is greatly reduced and the throttle skill you learn is very transferrable to every other sim. The first couple of hours are rough but your car control dramatically improves!
I've always enjoyed Gran Turismo since gt2. I also like the convenience of its format. The only thing that has ever bothered me is something that I call the physics inversion penalty. When you hit or glance a barrier and hit the throttle the car automatically turns in the opposite direction (or turns into the wall). As if to train you from trying to use the wall to your advantage. I get why you want to do it is to stop the cheaters, but you are also punishing the admirable players or the people that play honorably and don't want to be penalized when the touch the wall. They just want to correct their mistake and get back on track. I just wish that they'ed change the programming and at least allow you to turn it off. You know for those that just want the most realistic physics feeling even when you're making mistakes.
I could not agree with you any more ! When I used another car to gain an advantage and remain on the track I knew right there it wasn't a move logical or feasible...btw F1 2022 has been the most realistic overall experience so far to me because if you screw up or get flipped you're done
i couldnt find any video of yours on assettto corsa what do you think about it? if i learn how to drift on assetto can i use what i learn there in real life?
Since on gt7 its easy to go from understeer to abrupt oversteer, would it be possible to use a harder or the hardest compound tire available (due to the wheel's softer cornering stiffness) to be practice being in the neutral steer state for longer?
Thanks so much for this excellent video! Very well presented comparison, and I'm impressed that you can make a valid and relevant comparison between GT7 (a game) and iRacing (a simulator). To try to make this kind of comparison using Forza Motorsport, as of Feb 2024, would be completely laughable and ridiculous. Perhaps that's why in FM the racing lobbies are shrinking and user numbers falling every month. I really wish GT7 was available for PC. Certainly, it could be done. The fighting between Sony and Microsoft probably is a big part of why it isn't on PC. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a Play Station.
Gran Turismo is a simulator... it's not the most intricate or polished one when it comes to driving physics but it is a simulator 100%... I've never played iRacing because of it's monetization which is a complete scam and people that actually pay that INSANE amount of money to play this thing are absolute victims and their IQ is really low for not seeing that spending 5000$ on a video game plus another 10$ for every month's subscription which without it you can't even play it offline is insane when you can have an insane amount of car variety in other sims like Assetto Corsa or Automobilista 2 for less than 100$ Also, racing against other humans is overrated as hell... until you get to a safety rating that is at the top 1% worldwide (which takes a VERY long time to get to) all races are not races... you pretty much have to let everyone pass you without a fight because they will miss their braking point and take you out destroying both your race and your safety rating... I was playing ACC on LFM and I went from a safety rating of 6.0/10 to 1.09/10 in 2 weeks after taking months to get to 6 just cause people kept crashing on me and I kept losing Safety Rating because in ACC every crash is met with "both cars get a safety penalty" even if it's not your fault... then I made a couple of stupid mistakes which ended up in me causing an accident and even though I apologized politely after the rrace on chat the whiny "holier than god" people of the sim racing community still reported me and I lost 2 whole points of Safety rating from the reports on top of the SR I lost from the accidents within the race and finally I had enough I confronted the last guy that reported me and told him he was a f**** petty a-hole cause I was polite enough to apologize for my mistake and still reported me (which is something I would NEVER do in amateur races) so LFM decided I was offensive and gave me a 28 day suspension from all races... to which I say GOOD RIDDANCE cause their races are not fun anyway... their races are a chore to raise your safety rating and you're not racing... you're pretty much driving very very gently and letting everyone pass you without a fight because you're afraid to actually push and fight cause all you want is to raise your safety rating and not win... I'd rather race against the AI and have fun than have to put up with the despicably bad and annoying people that are the majority of the sim racing community... AI doesn't take me out every 2 laps if I try to fight for my spot and against AI I can actually have fun wheel to wheel battles every race... plus Automobilista 2 has a really good AI compared to most other sims so I'm really happy with it now...
The trail braking part really is the main problem I have since I started in online simracing with my G29 even I don't know how to apply well or I release too early the brakes and trying to make an early corner entry more with these physics on GT7. Really I wish to learn to apply well that tecnique and try to get used.
GT7 is optimized for controller and they did a hell of a job in that. Like an amazing, incredible job. Feels so good on the pad. My favorite game, I had so many great races with respectful people, you just got to get that S sportsmanship rating.
Subscribe! Hope you guys enjoyed the format. Like the video if you find value in my work and I'll keep doing my best!
Great comparison! Lifetime Gran Turismo player. One day I'll get a good pc lol. Keep up the good work. Are you Canadian?
What an amazing analysis! Thanks for sharing this content. I hope you can create some content for iRacing newcomers like myself, haha. I'd definitely like to learn more about the proper FFB adjustments for the Logitech G29 in iRacing, so it feels as realistic as possible. Of course, within the limits of what's achievable with an entry-level wheel like this.
A little note mate put the gt settings on quality mode you still get 120hz and you dont lose image quality

Iracing vs ACC next please
This is the most brilliant comparison I have seen of GT7 with any other more serious Simulators....Most people would just concentrate on which game is doing things more realistically and then give the final verdict but you actually explained what exactly both games are doing differently and why both are still great for what they are trying to offer
Honestly a better sim is ACC, than Iracing. Iracing is only successful due to the multiple classes. ACC is a way better sim.

Great comparison and no one has done a review this detailed. Excited to see future GT7 content and streams
I searched GT7 vs iRacing. Quit a lot of videos actually and pretty in-depth
seeing the response in discord where people where shaming you for playing this was interesting, if only they trusted your decisions and weren't so touchy about what choices you make. Keep up the good work and keep making great content.
Elitism is just miserable.
@@MrRaphaelLippi Yep..people love looking down their noses at anyone they can.
They are idiots. GT7 is a fantastic simulator.
And assetto corsa has the best physics and graphics, but not having the career aspect of iracing, or the accessibility/ease of use that GT offers.
Wouldn't necessarily say the best, but yea, i use it mainly for personal car builds since it's really easy to customize and edit cars.
Dont you play AMS2 or AC on a PC?
@@labpong7562 I work on a Windows/Linux PC 8-9 hours a day, and I work with IT technology. The absolute last thing I want to do after work is sit down in front of a horrible Windows PC again.
Agreed, if you are lazy, gt7 is your game
No , the best ,Rfactor 2 .
i got gt7 for ps5 and i had no clue about the simracing community. started racing online and within a 3 months i had a t300 and loadcells and had gotten gold in all of the licenses. good thing i already had a gaming pc or else this hobby would’ve put me into debt because now a little less than a year later, I have a full simagic/heusinkveld/next level racing setup😆
point is: I would’ve never gotten into sim racing or cars in general if not for GT. it was simultaneously the worst and best purchase ive made LOL
Finally, an in-depth critique and synopsis with somebody who truly understands what they're talking about.
Easily the best video I’ve watched comparing the 2 games!
Exactly!!!
Nope GT7 is average for driving. I'd rather play BeamNG
@@kak8895 Interesting, can you please explain why? I haven’t tried that one before, what’s their wheel support? Do they have the license to real brands or do you have to download mods?
@@mtzmueller he is just trolling
Thank you! One of the best comparisons. Moreover the new update is covered. Awesome!
Fantastic video Suellio! Great job of breaking down both GT7 & iRacing! Keep up the great work!
With PSVR2..GT7 literally shits on the other sims
It's now compatible with 120fps...graphics are still by far the best.
AC with filters and mods and vr i dont think so
Its not that simple.
I've showed the vr mode to friends and siblings and I love it when new people try it out because then I can see their reactions and its always hilarious to see how grown people suddenly get so happy with a videogame ;-)

I'm also interested in the braking techniques because it seems GT7 and ACC match while iRacing takes a completely different approach.
wait, is this real? is this why I'm getting so many more incidents with other drivers mistakes now that I'm up in the ranks?
I’m A+ and I don’t think there is any ghosting at all.
At least I haven’t seen it.
how can you ghost yourself in GT7 while online race? 🤔
Sim Racing is amazing man! Go for it, find a team, join leagues, it's addicting
Thanks for taking the time to make this comparison video👍🏼

Easily the best video talking about both games and RL perspective as well.
Great video.
That's hilarious
GT7 telemetry is available through UDP ports, software and mobile apps are also available. Perhaps you could use this to your advantage going forward.
Great analysis and comparison of the two platforms. I have been interested in iracing but the cost is concerning.
Exactly the video I’ve been looking for. Thank you.
Late??? Never late bro. There's a whole adventure out there waiting, go all in!
Been waiting to hear someone else say this !!! Grand turismos suck because of the understeer.
Good comparison! With the onset of PSVR2 GT7 has never been better. In fact, PSVR2 is so good I will never race again without it.
As a bike racer, I don't need perfect car physics, I need immersion and close racing to keep me sharp. GT7 VR excels at this, it feels so real. Just did a 45min 'ring race at night in wet conditions I was literally sweating. Unbelievable.
The way you go through the tracks is so smooth--I miss that now playing ACC. So bumpy lol
I don't know back then but now is fine both of them. You need an expensive pc to run iracing but with ps5 and a psvr2 you are in the game. The community's are huge for both of them especially in gt7. More cars in gt7 and user friendly.
I'm impressed by the quality of the video and the clear explanation of various techniques

Wow, the first few minutes earned my sub. You clearly know what you are talking about.
Can you revisit gt7? They made an update for the braking couple weeks ago. Would you for you to check it out
It's interesting that the big physics issue he pointed out is what was directly addressed in the recent update. It feels far better now.
Your GT7 comments seem like you're comparing the previous updates and not the latest one..as far as I'm concerned. The grip issues are resolved
Im slowly getting into Time Attack irl, and I came from iRacing background. I have gotta say, with the habits that I developed from iRacing really helped me on track driving. IRL, you can tell a lot quicker with the grip level from your vehicle than iRacing.
Well made video very enjoyable and interesting.. well done 👍👍
Great video. I myself am a GT7 to iRacing product. With my first ever racing game being GT7. It was a great place to start, and iRacing is perfect for those looking to get to the next level of the sim racing experience
Excellent video, I'm a Gran Turismo Pro Player, and I agree with everything you said 👍👍👍
I started sim racing back when GT was new on the PS1.
Looking forward to the VR comparison :)
Thanks for the comparison as i would like to try out iracing, comming from years of PlayStation and the new GT7 in VR2 !!! Thanks again Cheers!!!

I'm currently playing Automobilista 2 against the AI and I have more fun than racing real life people on ACC... being a "competitive" sim-racer is the most overrated thing about sim-racing... most races against humans are absolute dogcrap and you end up being taken out by some overeager Verstappen-wannabe that ends your race only to get even more frustrated when LFM punishes you on top of it by destroying your safety rating because every crash is "everyone's fault"
I am now racing against the AI on Automobilista 2 and it's the most fun I've had in months... every race is fun, the AI is really fast on the high difficulty settings but it's racing clean and forces you to have good driving habits... all in all, going away from the "competitive" LFM scene is the best choice I ever made in sim-racing... now I play AMS2 for track racing and EA WRC for a great rally experience on my sim rig and I'm actually HAPPY and not frustrated... I want to have fun, not to prove to any moron out there how "talented" I am...
@sportschool3537 homie i aint reading all that
Anyone who thinks gt7 is challenging hasn't tried iRacing.
If you are understeering, can you speed steer and increase throttle input to kick the back out for correction ?
I cant afford to get into iRacing, but i do play ACC from time to time when i want a more professional competitive online racing, plus the community cares more about not crashing. Gt 7 is the best car collection game imo, gives you that vibe and most lobbies that do freeruns are all about the community showing off their cars. This would blow up into something bigger is PD created a 50 player hub for USA, Europe, and Japan each
Thanks for helping me understand I don’t want Grand Turismo, because it’s not a sim.
What settings do you recommend for the Logitech Pro with GT7? I love the Trueforce around 35 although the wife is less keen at 1am lol
Writing down all ideas from you guys and already writing the script of the next video!
Thanks for your comment!
Love your video. Would you mind sharing your GT7 steering settings? I have a Fanatec but I could use your Logitech numbers for reference.
Wow. Amazing video man.
Ive spend large amount of time on both GT and iRacing and both are by far the best in the business when it comes to competitive multiplayer.
As a person who can't afford a PC it feels nice to have gran turismo on ps4
Looks like the new physics model is now more like iracing. It gives so much more oversteer rotation on trail braking and is not so forgiving anymore. Have to get used to it.
I like both tbh, ACC is a blast but it's also fun to collect and customize cars and not be super serious
Such a fire vid!! Instant sub 🥵
Nice video. Have you done any reviews of ACC?
Not yet!
Imo games like these are much more important to beginners than games like iRacing. When the game is not too serious on being realistic and has a more arcadey feeling to it that's a great start for beginners. I, myself started with NFS Shift and that helped me alot in learning the etiquette and rules of real driving
Would you recommend a force feedback/sensitivity for GT7? I'm using Fanatec DD PRO 8NM...
When I used another car to gain an advantage and remain on the track I knew right there it wasn't a move logical or feasible...btw F1 2022 has been the most realistic overall experience so far to me because if you screw up or get flipped you're done
i couldnt find any video of yours on assettto corsa
what do you think about it?
if i learn how to drift on assetto can i use what i learn there in real life?
Great Video! Would be awesome if you could do another comparison with Gt7s physics update 1.49.
Good video, I would like you to make one analyzing AMS2, my favorite simulator, to compare it with others....
there is also 120hz resoluton mode which runs smoother than 60,low input lag, and still looks good
not in VR though
@@rochester3 in vr 120hz is only mode
@@piotrekf943 ok i see, does it offer ray tracing?
@@rochester3 rt in gt7 is only in replays
Hey, just noticed you were racing in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Are you gonna go back there this year ?
Will your Motor Racing Check List course be discounted like the black Friday deal any time soon?
As a real life driver I must say gran turismo feels as real as me driving a real car. That alone makes gt7 for me a real driving simulator
Gran Turismo is a simulator... it's not the most intricate or polished one when it comes to driving physics but it is a simulator 100%... I've never played iRacing because of it's monetization which is a complete scam and people that actually pay that INSANE amount of money to play this thing are absolute victims and their IQ is really low for not seeing that spending 5000$ on a video game plus another 10$ for every month's subscription which without it you can't even play it offline is insane when you can have an insane amount of car variety in other sims like Assetto Corsa or Automobilista 2 for less than 100$
Also, racing against other humans is overrated as hell... until you get to a safety rating that is at the top 1% worldwide (which takes a VERY long time to get to) all races are not races... you pretty much have to let everyone pass you without a fight because they will miss their braking point and take you out destroying both your race and your safety rating...
Really I wish to learn to apply well that tecnique and try to get used.
love seeing the mini's in the background
Great video, definitely will have to re-watch to understand it all. Great technical insights.
The force feedback on gran turismo you have to change the settings ( feedback sensitivity and feedback torque)
is iracing good using a dualsense ? i wish to try but im afraid to try using a dualsense so i have to wait till i get a steering wheel
GT7 is optimized for controller and they did a hell of a job in that. Like an amazing, incredible job. Feels so good on the pad. My favorite game, I had so many great races with respectful people, you just got to get that S sportsmanship rating.
