Looks great. Iv just got into powdercoating in the last year and everytime I produce a new piece im super impressed with the outcome. Obviously iv had to re do some parts but over all always comes out nice. Your video got me into btw.
1:42 In my experience the best primer is the lack of storage time between sanding and curing of the powder. By this I mean if the sand/glass blaster is in under the same roof as the powder coating I see no need for priming, less is actually more, if you are to move the item from one location to the next it's good practice to put on primer prior to leaving the glass blaster location prior to transport.
Did you build your own oven? What are the dimensions? I am starting to do PC here in Chicago and was asked about race car chassis’. Wondering if I built my own what would a decent size over look like in size.
I own Mike's Custom Coatings LLC in Kentucky, I completely understand what you mean when a customer says no primer, The viewers don't understand that not every customer wants to pay that additional coat of primer. Even though we recommend it they still don't want to fork out the $ for it. Looks great btw.
That’s called Aztec silver in Aus and we do a lot of this colour on Ute trays and canopy’s and usually everyone here coats it really thick to get that really textured finished to make it hard wearing. Just curious why don’t you pump the air flow and powder cloud up?
How much would this cost to do ? I hope I’m not stopping over the 3:33 lines by ask, me my truck will be repainted using two main colors back half will gloss red custom chrome and front will be gloss white and a little gloss black through the white is a few play. I would do the red on the rear half and white on the front to match the truck, be doing doing two coats primer, 2-3 base and 3 plus clear.
Awesome video..Out of curiosity, what was the estimated cost that you charged for this job? Would you happen to have a break down? Thanks in advance would help give me an idea is I am cutting my self short 😁✌️
@Unknown Coatings Much appreciated! I'm sure you have your reasons why the price is what it is. I have struggled with pricing and it always helps getting input from those in the industry to help me figure out a balanced price for work. Thanks again
When I used to powdercoat wheels I found that the glass grit got stuck in the alloy. So I had to wire wheel the glass grit off. This polished the wheel which is not creating a key for the coat. Are you saying you can blast then blow off the remnants and then powder coat?
hey i powdercoat dental equipment for a job. i was wondering why you guys run such weird settings compared too us. we run the same gun setup but i personally spray sheet metal parts at 50 powder or 65 powder at 4.5- 4.7 air on straight part setting unless theres a curve then i go too the curve setting and run 65-69 powder 4.6 4.9 air and more experienced painters run around 50-70 on sheet metal for powder and 5 for air
A shame that the owner didn't go that extra step and dress up the welds and flashing before he sent it to be powder coated. It would have definitely taken the chassis to next level. You did an outstanding job considering the "before" shot...
You don’t powder coat a frame for it to look good. No one is going to see it and if they do it’s in the dark in an uncomfortable position. It’s just a durable coating to prevent rust.
i guess im late to the party but did he close his shop and is now working for someone? It doesnt look like his place anymore but in the end that may be way less headache and you can leave work at work.
Some that ask you to do jobs must of woke up and hit themselves in the head with a stupid stick to many times. Also the ones making the comments as a powder company like yours don’t cut corners, want to do primer, the double base and the clear. This is to make sure that anything, mainly a vehicle frame which gets hit with all that road spray/salt all over the underside don’t find a spot to kill that amazing job you just did.
Chevelle frame! Done more of those then I can count in my career
Haha ewwww
Man looks like the frame from 74 caprice as well
I like the vein. I like shooting candies over veins. Looks really good.
Good job
I'm not a fan but it isn't my frame so it's whatever to me lol
Frame came out looking amazing for whatever G body that’s going to

That's awesome though! It's fun learning new stuff!
I'd like to see the blasting process and prep for these larger parts/chassis.
Really appreciate the videos,I'm a week in at coating and my boss suggested that I watch you.
Oh nice. Where ya from? What shop?

Yeah. It's a know it all mentality for those muppets who comment thinking they should be able to tell my customer what to do. It's literally insane
@@UnknownCoatings Maybe you should get some better customers :P
well done, great looking job! I hope you'll become Iron Rainbow certified soon!
I don't know what that could even mean
@@UnknownCoatings They are building a national powder coating job management service to simplify coating job booking and fulfilment.

About 1100 for this. Which feels cheap but it's the going rate

Not related to the actual job itself, but what cfm is your fan in the booth? I'm looking at building a new booth, and just curious.
Just out of curiosity how many pounds of powder did it take to do that frame?

If you don't use glass, yes.
Hi, second layer powder gives more shine?
Not necessarily just guarantees best coverage and a smoother finish

i posted this before watching more i see your avoiding star bursting so you can bring the gun closer and get into craves
Sometimes I count my strokes and I get 2 and then I bust
😂
3:49 the body looks to be GM G-body. I’ve got one that looks just like that.

Yeah seems like some people don't care enough vs some of our customers who do all the prep imaginable. I appreciate the kind words!

Ehhh really depends on the car. Have a hard time proving your theory to hard core racers or the low rider community

I moved out of state over a year ago. I'm in a new shop now 🤣. I don't think I could ever work for someone else
Looks to be a A or G body chassis
Yeah I was thinking the same but it came and went lol
I am disguised as a standard channel person
That’s a 65-66 Chevy Impala convertible frame

Ill take your word for it! though all Chevelle chassis would be the same. SS was the same one
99% of people don't want the primer in my area also.
Some Muppet 😅
The most muppet. Dude should open a shop on sesame street
