How to turn your motorcycle horn into a garage door opener

- In this video I am creating a unique solution for my Indian Scout Bobber where I convert the horn button into a garage door opener. This is one of my messiest DIYs so far, but hopefully it offers some value and you can use it to develop a similar solution on any motorcycle! You will clearly see that I am no pro when it comes to electronics and soldering, which only proves that anyone can do this!

New piece of garage decor incoming! Keep up the good work!
Ooh! Can't wait!
Nice solution Jim, I apply the same thing on my bobber to open the garage door. Thanks for the guide ce!! 😁
Thank you!
You're a wizard, this is really nice. I personally wouldn't get rid of my honk though, so I think I'll try an alternative with a whole new button system. Thanks !
You should be able to wire it the same way I did but leave the horn connected. Might get annoying for your neighbors when you honk the horn every time you come home though lol.
Nice work! I thought about doing this but haven't yet because I have the app on my phone to open the garage doors at the moment. This is a cool DIY though for sure bro.
Thanks dude! It's super satisfying to pull up and just use an oem button to open the door.
@@Jimbobbington maybe ill try something like this on the Springfield's button for heated grips i don't want to add.
Been thinking bout this. Thanks for being the guinea pig! Keep it up
Thanks!
Well done. People can do a lot with your video.
Thank you!
Thanks for the info and guidance, nice bike dude!!!!👍🤙🤙👍
Thanks brother!
Very good. Congratulations. But you lost the horn, right ? So, is there a method to keep both functionalities working ?
You could definitely keep the horn too, but you'd honk when you open the garage.
How many Amps is the step down voltage regulator?
500mA
Why not just hot glue the button in the pushed down position?
😆
Why not adding a new button?
Easy enough to do, I just wanted to use oem wiring and have an oem look. For me, the horn is useless. Can't even hear it over my exhaust lol
@@Jimbobbington fair enough. But you could have bought a 12v remote avoiding the regulator.
I’d need to build a garage first
Haha damn
@@Jimbobbington actually my girl and I manage a KOA campground in Ohio so I have my pick of 3 barns and a 135 year old recreation building. Going with the rec barn figure its got less critters than the other options
@@mrmurphy8609 haha that's a fun life!
Too much work for me. I found another way.
What’s the other way ?
@@ruireis5493 I bought a garage door opener from Rogers Unlimited. Great product. TH-cam has a video. It's amazing. Love it.
