I've owned all 3, a 16 hellcat challenger, ZL1 1LE, 20' gt500 I enjoyed the hellcat the most as a daily. The zl1 drives the best and is the best overall performance value imo, but the visibility and claustrophobic interior can be hard to get used to. The Shelby was the fastest and felt the most special. I currently own Tesla S Plaid as my daily and the ZLE m6 for the weekend toy.
I’ve had all 3 as new-ish rental cars (Ecoboost Mustang, R/T Challenger, and not sure trim on the Camaro) for a 4 hour commute to pick up an airplane from maintenance. The Camaro was my least favorite by far due to the seat position and blind spot. The Challenger felt the most planted and fun for a muscle car experience and the bolsters dug into my sides on the long drive. The Mustang was exceptional in terms of driver experience, comfortable seat, great infotainment system, and just overall the best car in my opinion. Now, I know they weren’t V8s but extrapolating from my experience I would go with the Mustang.
I own a 17 GT and love it. Luckily the owner before me modded it perfect. Bigger tires, Borla ATAK exhaust, Roush Cold Air intake and Bama Racing Tune. Plus I live in Albuquerque, home of Hellion Turbo packages for mustangs so if I ever decided to make it a monster for around $12 grand, that could be an option. I just added a Throttle body spacer and cosmetics and it’s perfect. The fact that it’s so easy to mod Mustangs is what makes them great to me. Not gonna lie I’m biased, always been a Ford and Toyota guy. But the Challengers are no joke. I rarely see Cameros.
Just something to recognize in cars that I dont think people understand is that having a sunroof in your car actually lowers the headliner a bit, giving you less headroom, as it needs to have room for the mechanism and rails.
Im glad I never let the visibility concerns keep me from buying my 21' SS. Im pretty risk averse person, so I was definitely worried about the reputation, but even at 6 feet tall the visibility was never even a problem on the test drive. It definitely is different, especially when going back and forth between it and my other car, but its not really a problem as long as you have good mirror placement. The platform is a performance dream otherwise, the combination of power and handling at that price is untouchable.
Great video! I put Steeda subframe connectors and a bigger rear sway bar on my 18 GT. Those mods and 10.5” wide wheels with 305’s have really stabilized the car on hard acceleration. Still love the Challenger and Camaro!
I was looking at the three of these cars last September and I ended up buying the Camaro. I felt the driving experience was, by far, better in the Camaro than the Mustang and the Challenger for what I want to do. Take that with a grain of salt; everyone has their own driving preferences. I like fast, twisty roads and the Challenger felt like a boat and the Mustang felt a little too slippery in the rear for my comfort. The visibility and ergonomics are something you get used to pretty quickly, in my experience. The only thing that I can agree on is the rear seats, close to useless outside of anyone taller than five feet. It is a tight fit, too, so if you are a larger person, this is not the platform for you.
I like all 3 but I live in Minnesota. Owned a 2020 GT500 for a couple of years. The predator engine was fabulous. Had to give it up because I needed the garage space for a car that could function in the winter 🥶. Nevertheless Hellcat vs ZL1 vs Shelby - you can’t go wrong with any of them.
I built a 2 & 1/2 car garage to house my 1985 GMC drag truck & wanted a scat pack. Knowing my Ram would not fit my little 1 car attached. So I built the garage now I can house ALL 3.
Great video. I was looking for a comparison video like this about a week ago. However, all three cars are great but I love the 6.4l scatpack. Its so much fun
I have a 2021 Challenger. I didn’t like the Mustang or Camaro, you nailed it RacerX on the Mustang with little headroom and the Camaro with headroom and trunk space. I still have to use a car as a daily driver and the Challenger fit my needs.
As someone in Plant City who has cross shopped all 3, I bought a 2023 Mustang GT Premium with the 10 speed. Was the best all arounder for me. Also shout out to Jarrett Scott Ford, they're the only other dealer here and they're great too.
I own a scat pack, but damn I love the look of the Camaros a lot. If something happened to my scat pack, I’d really consider getting an SS. I don’t mind the cramped interior or back seat space or trunk. I wouldn’t be getting it for comfort, passenger transportation, and storage space. I realized I don’t really ever use the slightly extra room in my scat pack
I have the 21 Camaro in the Shock color and love it. At my age...kids gone the rear seat issue doesn't even compute. By far the Camaro is the best looking of the 3. Almost went scatty but wanted the bastard child according to sales. She goes by the name "The Blurrr". Reference to an endearing Ron White skit. 😁😎
2018 Mustang GT owner here. I have the 6 speed manual and have had absolutely no problems with it. It’s super smooth and I can redline the gears. Ford really improved it in 2018. It’s not a Tremec but unless you abuse it, it works fine. Just a few mods and this car is a beast. Super quick. Also, adding some Steeda suspension parts mainly the subframe brace took care of that instability in the rear. Best car I’ve ever owned.
Dean Hawk. Totally agree with you. I did the trans bushing and shifter bracket updates to my 2014 and have no regrets for getting the manual. Abuse any transmission and expect problems.
To get the Mustang stable their are several things you can do. First is wider rear tires , a wing , a strut tower brace , bigger sway bars , possibly lower the car . Staggered wheels are a must tho 👌🏾 .
@mattbarth3205 the only car that I have ever driven that was actually trying to kill me was an early Model 3 Tesla. I've been driving my Mustang for nearly 20 years.
Great video Bud! I'm partial to the Challenger, however, I must say, your Mustang is looking pretty good. It has an aggressive stance and front fascia that I find more appealing than the Camaro. However, for the overall aggressiveness and retro look, IMO the Challenger takes the cake.
I had a really hard time choosing between the challenger and the mustang, I finally went with the mustang because I really love the heritage and I wanted to turn.
@@tatsuhirosatou5513 Really not a hard choice at all. Unless your goal is to carry adults in the back seat there’s no reason NOT to choose a Mustang over a Challenger
Great video! Definitely nice to get a different perspective from all three. Just took delivery of my 6MT SS and the transmission is really nice and smooth. I could do without the 1->4 shift feature but it is a lot of fun to drive because it definitely allows much more driver and vehicle interaction than the automatic.
I got a chance to drive all three as base models at one point. The one thing that really stuck out to me was just how much more I could see out of the mustang. Blind spots were virtually nil in comparison to the other two. Granted, I suppose you could get used to it in the Camaro and Challenger, but it's such a drastic difference that I couldn't justify getting anything else when I could get 9/10's of the performance and be able to see everything in the ford. But then I remembered that I already own an '89 Camaro, giggled to myself a little bit, and let it go. I'm already having too much fun with my little 305 and my 5 speed. I don't need more.
I have a 22' Camaro 2SS with upgraded suspension, breaks and exhaust. I'm 6'3 and don't have any issues. Love going on drive's to back canyon roads, handles like a dream and I feel fewer people have Camaros so you get lot more looks versus the Challenger and the mustangs being everywhere. The 2SS package is definitely worth it for comfort and daily, I really feel the 2SS with upgraded performance options gives you the best of both worlds.
@@leew5647 It could be the seats that come with the Camaro 2SS, they are heated and cooled and can be lowered. Pushed back and lowered I have plenty of leg room. Camaro dash sits higher and doesn't croud the knees like the mustang did. The Camaro feels like a cockpit that hugs you but it doesn't cramp you. On a side note I always take my shoes off while driving cause Im weird and I think that helps take a few inches off, especially cause shoes have huge heels and rubber bottoms now a days.
Based on these 3 specific cars it would be interesting which of the three would be the all around best GT vehicle-which could one take on a cross-country trip/rally and be most comfortable. Quick observation would lead me to think the Challenger. Big seats; capable powertrain; chassis derived from a much larger vehicle. 🤔
Nice video Bro. They are all great! That said, my Mustang is VERY stable. It's all because of the tires. My car's back end doesn't fishtail unless I want it to. I don't use the stock Pirelli tires. I replaced them with BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S W speed tires that grip like Spider-man. I also replaced my clutch assist spring to offset some of the badness of the stock MT82 manual. It does. I also haven't had the 2nd Gear or 3rd Gear lockout issue people often talk about.
I love my 2022 Challenger Scat Pack with the dynamics package. I test drove a Camaro SS and visibility is definitely an issue. I didn't feel safe driving it. Plus I'm 6' 2 and barely fit in it. My hat was rubbing on the headliner.
I driven all of these and have owned a version of each, but the 22 Mustang GT PP1 with the magna ride is definitely the best handling car of the 3by far! No doubt! Is the Challenger easier to drift accurately yes! But giving grip and track the Magnaride is the bomb! The Camaro is the closet but to me the Mustangs magna ride is hard to beat
Well statistically the SS 1LE is the best handling by far. Even the base SS is better handling than the PP1 mustang. I have a PP2 and I still think the SS 1LE performs better. GMs magnaride system is better than fords.
@@Swerzuh yea I just might if I feel like it. I’m not biased. The 1LE still better on the track. Don’t confuse facts with feeling. The Camaros are better on the track top to bottom. Not by much but I’m not trying to do all that nitpicking. They are just better on the track. The mustang is better everywhere else.
I think the Mustang still gets my vote. I had a Camaro and loved it, except the visibility was terrible. The Challenger is really cool, and I love Chevy's (great power and puts it to the ground really well) but there is just something about the Mustang. I have driven my dad's quite a bit and It is just more liveable safer feeling option over the Camaro, so I will be shopping for one this summer. I know the Mustang can get a little squirrelly under hard acceleration, but I don't drive in way that will cause that to be a concern. Also, I love the Mustang look. It has really grown on me over the past few years. The others are good, but the Mustang is my fav.
I have the 2ss convertible so i dont have blind spots as i have the blind spot sensors, the rear view camera, and a drop top. Obviously if u get a more track focused version of the camaro the visibility issues are a definite knock on it.
If I was in a different position financially I would buy a manual Scat Pack Challenger today. I prefer normally aspirated as it’s simpler and I’m not looking for a track car, just a fun daily. Unfortunately, my wife just recently got a 2023 Explorer Timberline for the practical family car instead. By the time I’m able to get a new car any Dodge V8’s will be long gone. That pretty much leaves the Mustang S650 in a couple years.
I like all of them but if I had to buy one I would get the Mustang maybe because I had a 1988 and loved it . They are built so much better now . The Challenger is to dangerous to own in Chicago right now my friends 392 got stolen 3 times already. Good review by the way.
Thanks for calling out the interior size difference. After a great performance at a track day with my Scat, I had several people tell me well I'd do in a lighter car. (Duh) But at a broad 6'5", there are very few options, especially once you add a helmet. Also, the Challenger lacking a B pillar can help with side visibility (and shoulder room) when the seat's all the way back.
You're so right with the tires, if I had any of these I would put 305 at least on all corners because it's just unthinkable to put less than that on a car that can spin the wheels so easily, especially the Challenger because as you've shown and we've seen before, even on third gear or at 60+ mph you can still lose traction if you so wanted. Also I mean this cars are made for fun, they got the power, they got their own quirks with the way the drive but what they all have in common is fun. You might think thin tires might be more fun because you can break traction easily but if we're being honest 305 tires don't prevent that, even 315 I think it is won't prevent it at all, it's just so you have to be aware you're doing it every time and won't spin around by accident because you pressed the gas 0.2% more than what you though lol
Great review as usual. I’m an older guy and like the space of my Grand Cherokee as well as the 5.7 and aftermarket exhaust. Even as dated as it is, I’d be happy with the Mopar. A Mustang GT convertible would be my second option. Keep up the good work!
@@MrMcGowan24 no lol, it is ridiculous. I'm just like whyyyyy and the way. I noticed right away because I work on a base and have to have my ID checked everyday I go to work. I own a camaro SS 2017 and is really fun, I dont have any doubt that mustang and challenger are fun cars too, Those three legends are awesome and beautiful cars. If you are the owner of any of these beautys you are a really happy man.
245s are under tired for the Challenger, especially in the wet. That being said, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Personally I'll be going to 275s when I replace them and call it a day. You can drive it and get into it pretty hard with the stock tires. You just can't jump on it hard from a stop or in the wet.
I like them all but I don’t like when people judge gt500’s or stock Gt’s because nothing beats a supercharged mustang gt. Fuel and boost. That’s it! 850 safely to the wheels. Don’t have to do cams and all this other bs. And you’ll walk a gt500. Boost and fuel that’s it.
But speaking from experience, I’ve had all 3 still have my 6th gen LT1, the camaro feels the best to me performance wise, it feels the most balanced especially on wet and icy roads but all three cars are great nonetheless!!!
My 2SS Camaro has no blind spots thanks to the rearview mirror with a live camera feed. As well as the blind spot lights on the mirrors. When I had my 2020 LT1 I added the corner mirrors to give me more visibility.
I’m a Chevy guy I daily an 03 Monte Carlo ss it’s the first car I bought!! But I feel each are cool and good cars I love the looks of the challenger as it’s retro, the mustang is as American as apple pie and is aggressive, and the Camaro is also aggressive looking and love the LS engines cause they are cheaper and great the upgrade! All three of theses cars are in my dream car list
Hey Racer X my vote is for the Mustang! I currently have a 19 GT 10 R-80 car and there is nothing that compares to a NA V8 that can Spin 7000 plus RPM The visceral scream of an Awesome engine at that RPM and a 10 speed trans just rowing through gears is an addictive sound and feeling! It definitely feels and sounds more like a much more expensive and high end car then it’s price tag.!
mopar might be the slowest, but theyre the more practical of the three with the fact that its more comfortable, has bigger trunk space and you can use all the seats. i love all 3 but if it came down to it id get a charger or challenger
@@itzjetlife3639 that’s true but it still wouldn’t stop me from getting what I’d want. If I wanted a mustang and knew they were big targets I’d still get one because I wouldn’t want to sell myself short
@@GloomToon that’s completely understandable! i just ordered a 23 redeye because I wanted the car despite the theft issues. We shouldn’t make decisions like these based off fears but i’d be lying if i said the thefts didn’t’ play a factor at all in my purchasing decision.
The 2024 Mustang GT still has the MT-82. And there isn't anything wrong with it. I have one, and I've known many people with them - flawless function, no reliability issues, etc. The only people complaining are idiots on the internet who don't tell you that they also add a blower to the car & don't strengthen the transmission, then complain when it breaks. There's a reason the lawsuit got thrown out of court.
Stop the cap bro I have one too and we both know that the mt 82 is a low point of the car.. it has almost zero room for error when you’re driving hard and even bites back at you driving to the store. There’s nothing “wrong” with it but there’s nothing right with it either. Sloppy linkage and extremely mechanical engagement… it requires more skill to drive than others and has very small margin for error. All people are saying is why not a better transmission with great feel and great engagement.. no one would choose the mt82 over the tremec if it was a free option. That being said a lot of people over blow the issue and also suck at driving. If you can’t drive the mt82 hard it’s on you but if you can drive it hard you can also drive a better transmission equally as hard and smoothly too
I have a Camaro ss and a jeep srt. And I always been a Chevy guy. But boy oh boy that 6.4 N/A is something else in that low end pocket. Punchy ass hell . Damn near tear your neck off lol . If your modding 5.0, and Camaro much better platform though like you said
After I drove all 3, I chose the Mustang for my purchase. When it came to the Scat pack it just felt out of date as a chassis and a car. The Camaro I just couldn’t stand how tight the interior felt, when looking through the rear view mirror I felt like I was looking through a tank. My only issue with the Mustang is I desire to have a pushrod set up with a cam for the chops! Call me silly idc lol but the Mustang to me out of the bunch just dominates the other 2 in day to day driving, styling and looks. If the Camaro didn’t feel so tight fit I’d pick up an 1LE or 2SS and call it a day though
6 speed zl1 for me someday. I grew up with mustangs from dad and him being a mechanic. I'll always have a soft spot for them but I prefer the camaro. My buddy is a gm guy too and he wants a 5.0. Would be awesome for hopefully someday of me and him getting and building each to have fun in and run each other.
In my opinion The Camaro SS has more torque than the mutang GT and a little quicker from a stop but the mustang GT is faster on the top the challenger V8 is really really torquey and it pins you back but it's slow in a race because it's heavy and all
Spot on assessment. That's how it went down in every race I was in against Scats and Camaros. Their torque gets them off the line faster, but I ALWAYS caught them and passed them both.
This guy is really successful on here. He seems like a cool guy. He isn't able to drive fast or get anything out of the car. E.g. I can get 4 seconds 0-60 all day in my Mustang GT and 5.0 seconds in my Challenger, but he would get 5.6 and 7 seconds in these cars. So if I wanted to race, I would want to race this guy. :) The Mustang and Camaro are about the same and Challenger is slower off the line.
To me handling is the most important feature in a car. Really wanted a V8 for long term reliable. Went with a 22 Camaro 2SS 1LE with the 6 speed. This thing is amazing going mountain carving. Would never consider a Dodge, and I have already had a mustang. The mustang while nice cant come close to the 1LE, even with the pp1.
Because I was looking for a convertible, Mustang FTW. Designed from the start to be a convertible and has a much larger trunk space than the Chevy. In regards to power plant, the coyote is a higher revving motor and that’s where the power and fun are at. For the 2018+ when the direct injection and variable valve timing kicks in. You’ll feel it.
I had a 2000 Mustang V6 model and I was disappointed about it because the speedometer had 120 on it and it only did 115. Then I got me a 2015 Camaro RS V6I feel in love with it. I could go with automatic or manual on the car because it had the paddle shifter on the steering wheel. It was way more powerful than the 2000 Mustang V6. I race a few V8 Mustangs and I ended out ran most of them.

Just something to recognize in cars that I dont think people understand is that having a sunroof in your car actually lowers the headliner a bit, giving you less headroom, as it needs to have room for the mechanism and rails.
I thought it gave you more headroom
Fair assessment of all 3 cars Racer X, thanks
I like all 3 but I live in Minnesota. Owned a 2020 GT500 for a couple of years. The predator engine was fabulous. Had to give it up because I needed the garage space for a car that could function in the winter 🥶. Nevertheless Hellcat vs ZL1 vs Shelby - you can’t go wrong with any of them.
I built a 2 & 1/2 car garage to house my 1985 GMC drag truck & wanted a scat pack. Knowing my Ram would not fit my little 1 car attached. So I built the garage now I can house ALL 3.
I love all 3. Used to have a 2010 SS. When my teenagers get out of the house or at least become self sustained. I may have to get a scat pack.
That's why I got a5.7 more room for the buck. I'm already pushing 415 and nothing internal done yet.
Exactlyyyyy… my Daytona eats up stock scats and I’m N/A still
What do you have done? I have a 2014 rt and I'm trying to get somewhere around there
Great video.
Canaros are dookie booty
@@larry080661we have the same car lol I have a 21 shock green Camaro SS as well and I absolutely love it!
I don't feel any problems with my manual mustang 2022. I think you're right about that.
To get the Mustang stable their are several things you can do. First is wider rear tires , a wing , a strut tower brace , bigger sway bars , possibly lower the car . Staggered wheels are a must tho 👌🏾 .
lol why even do all of that when u can just buy a car that doesn’t try to kill you or others
@@mattbarth3205 Because I'm not a bitch and know how to drive? 🤔
@@mattbarth3205 Or get this, all that comes with a performance package Mustang. Lol
@@mattbarth3205 somebody in a mustang poked your girl... stop car hating
@B C I like the classic looks and the torque of the 392, plus yes I do have to have adults in the back seat of my mustang fairly often
@Levario Jones the biggest issues with it are being really hard to see out of and having head gasket issues
@Levario Jones sad they had those pretty big draw backs because that 6.2l LT paired with the 10r80 would be a really snappy car
The corvette z06 blind spots are worst then the camaro
c7 or c8?@@kindafastz0664
I have a 22' Camaro 2SS with upgraded suspension, breaks and exhaust. I'm 6'3 and don't have any issues. Love going on drive's to back canyon roads, handles like a dream and I feel fewer people have Camaros so you get lot more looks versus the Challenger and the mustangs being everywhere. The 2SS package is definitely worth it for comfort and daily, I really feel the 2SS with upgraded performance options gives you the best of both worlds.
I’m about 6’2 myself and drove a 2023 mustang GT and I didn’t have enough leg room isn’t the Camaro less roomier?
@@leew5647 It could be the seats that come with the Camaro 2SS, they are heated and cooled and can be lowered. Pushed back and lowered I have plenty of leg room. Camaro dash sits higher and doesn't croud the knees like the mustang did. The Camaro feels like a cockpit that hugs you but it doesn't cramp you. On a side note I always take my shoes off while driving cause Im weird and I think that helps take a few inches off, especially cause shoes have huge heels and rubber bottoms now a days.
@Lee W I'm 6'2 and felt comfortable in both my 2016 Camaro and my 2020 Mustang. I only felt cramped in my 2019 Vette.
I drove all three and bought the Challenger for the looks and the drive n fit n feel and smooth power!!! 2016 Challenger SRT
Oh
Solid, honest review. Love all three, warts and all, but my car is and has been (since '88) the Mustang.
I love my 2022 Challenger Scat Pack with the dynamics package. I test drove a Camaro SS and visibility is definitely an issue. I didn't feel safe driving it. Plus I'm 6' 2 and barely fit in it. My hat was rubbing on the headliner.
Jumped from Dodge Challenger SXT Plus to a Mustang GT this year. I loved my Challenger but I really love my Mustang!
@@6ixspeedstang186 Go get a Camaro then if you love them so much.
Also, PP2s and SS 1LEs are extremely close on track.
@@Swerzuh not close enough. Actually you will notice the SS1LE is closer in track times to the gt350. I had both. Gtpp not close to a 1le
Absolutely love my gt. Had a fat ass scat and didn't like it after awhile. I installed an mgw shifter and fp track susp kit and now my gt is heavenly!
If you’re going boost, 5.0
If you’re going N/A, Camaro
If you’re staying stock and cruising, 6.4 challenger
I had a mustang GT and it was so much fun! I miss it so much. I honestly would be happy with either one of these amazing machines!
Nice vid! Any one of them are fantastic, certainly couldn't go wrong withy the three. However, I drove them all and bought my favorite...
Great video, I think you hit everything heads on. I own a Mustang and everything you said about it was dead on
Based on safety I bought a last cal scat pack. Not a big fan on Fishtailing and blind spots
I test drove a 2021 1320 scat pack the other day and that model has auto up !
I hate that the challenger doesn't have auto up windows and that they don't come HID lights for the scatpack, I mean come on bro for 46k
My scatpack 22' does but it's a charger. Are they not auto up on the challengers?
@@MrMcGowan24 no lol, it is ridiculous. I'm just like whyyyyy and the way. I noticed right away because I work on a base and have to have my ID checked everyday I go to work.
That's exactly why I got the Camaro 2SS Convertible... Kills the biggest drawback too!

The challenger keeps the looks of nostalgia-rides very well and no one leaves factory rubber on them.
So true. I owned the 19 Mustang GT and currently 20 Challenger RT. I love both but Dodge more.
I’m 6’4 over 300lbs, the Mustang has plenty of room once inside.
I had a boosted 2020, I never felt unstable.
mopar might be the slowest, but theyre the more practical of the three with the fact that its more comfortable, has bigger trunk space and you can use all the seats. i love all 3 but if it came down to it id get a charger or challenger
but their also targets for theft, the camaro is the perfect combination of practicality, performance and comfort

In my opinion
The Camaro SS has more torque than the mutang GT and a little quicker from a stop but the mustang GT is faster on the top the challenger V8 is really really torquey and it pins you back but it's slow in a race because it's heavy and all
Spot on assessment. That's how it went down in every race I was in against Scats and Camaros. Their torque gets them off the line faster, but I ALWAYS caught them and passed them both.
For me I like the Challenger the out of these 3. Just wish it was easier to mod the engine
completely unrelated, but your eyes are glowing
The Camaro trunk opening is smaller to retain structural rigidity.
You should review a twin turbo Scat.
Thats might be a possibility
I chose a 17 mustang gt. I've already paid for it and it has a lot of mods. For me best bang for the buck
Very good information bro💯
They are all great ! 🙌
I'm surprised how many heads I've turned with my convertible mustang. Too bad dodge never made a convertible challenger.
Great video, I would add that the Camaro is the best car for the track.
Excellent comparison💯
I had a 2000 Mustang V6 model and I was disappointed about it because the speedometer had 120 on it and it only did 115. Then I got me a 2015 Camaro RS V6I feel in love with it. I could go with automatic or manual on the car because it had the paddle shifter on the steering wheel. It was way more powerful than the 2000 Mustang V6. I race a few V8 Mustangs and I ended out ran most of them.
Also Mustang is the only one with no sunroof option. This isn’t much to some but to others it does matter.
