    Hello, i bought the book some days ago and learned the rules; i Have a question about Elephants and block moves: in this video It seems that you are moving a block of Elephants+infantry+cavalry, while in the rules It says that Elephants can block move Only if the block Is composed by infantry, elephants or wagons. What am i missing? Why Elephants are allowed to block move also with cavalry?

    The points systemfor Mortem et Gloriam is by far the ebst balacned ever created BTW. It was left online and we optimised it based on 5 years of play. So armies using the points system are really 50-50 affairs, then swung by PBS, play and dice rolling. Iys also a pretty celver points system that gets rids of additive only which is fundamentally flawed - so in Mortem et Gloriam superior and fully armoured is worth more that superiro + fully armoured, as it should be as one improves the other.

    Awesome battle report ! Why didn't the legionaries charged the skirmishers and elephants, pushing them away? Why just move closer?

      Hi Ale,
      2 reasons. 1) the foot really want to make the elephants charge them so they can stand to receive and getting close makes the elephants have forced charges, and 2) these romans have jav/darts so the ideal is to get to shoot them down before they cause trouble. Earlier Romans don't have that. The 7 eras of Rome have each a distinct feel in Mortem et Gloriam.

    The armies look like they start very close together. I understand this gets you right into the action immediately and puts pressure from the first moves immediately. But it does stop the early jockeying for position/deploying in the face of the enemy. Do you find the game slows pr suffers much from having the armies start further away, perhaps 50-100% further apart than you did here?

    • @CCC_GAMES

      They don't have to but the game is pacey. The design is to keep the same jockeying hat can take and hours down to 20mins. You can deploy back to the base line if so desired. closest is 12BW apart, if one deploys back fully its more like 20Bw. If both deploy back fully its 28BW. So matter of choice. BUT the scoring system encouraged you to try to win the game. In this game the Persians wanted maximum firing time ideally by falling back and piling arrows on the Romans so I wanted them up from and contesting the rough terrain with light troops. The Romans really want to force a close range fight so also want to minimise time until that happens.

      @@CCC_GAMES Cool. So it was more a decision based on army make up rather than 'Everyone line up as close as possible. Go.'
      For random ahistorical scenarios I've always liked armies turning up in marching column or from camp and having to deploy while under pressure from the opponent doing the same.

      @@sirbobulous for sure. Check out @wargamecampaigns on Facebook. My favourite type of wargaming of all is big recreations and campaigns. There is a column of march being surprise there. Also a break out from a fortified town. Handles anything.

    Are bows effective against elephant?

    • @CCC_GAMES
      @CCC_GAMES  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reasonably so. Elephants are potent but quite brittle - less in Maximus and mores in Pacto. Often best to give them skirmish screed. Some have foot shooters with them so fire back rather well.
