    Thanks for the video. I tend to use whites frequently so prefer to avoid brown quickshade. I use MinWax Tudor Satin, which is like Army Painter Dark Tone Quickshade (the "dip" version) but doesn't seem to saturate the model with a dark film quite as strongly.

      It’s really rewarding. Not much effort required to got a nice finish unlike 28mm

  • @leonleese4919
    @leonleese4919 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m just picking up tips for my 10mm seven years war armies. The bases are the same give or take 2,000 year’s and the technique is close enough, high lighting in particular. Must admit I’d like to see a series on all the European SYW Armies. I haven’t Done much painting since the 1980’s. As a trial I’m painting a Prussian army Pack from Pendraken to see if I’m cut out for 10mm painting.

    • @JonnyWatsonGaming
      @JonnyWatsonGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fantastic you are getting back into painting again. So painting 10 or 15mm is very different to painting 28 or 32mm figures. Dont spend a lot of time trying to get everything perfect its the mass effect you want. So get down solid opaque basecoats, washes are your friends at 10mm and when it comes to highlighting choose one or two features you want to bring out on the model, try not to fall into the trap of highlighting every part of the model, at that scale its just not worth the work and it can make your minis look like clowns with too many bright colours. If your interested check out my vid on painting 10mm high elves th-cam.com/video/ZvWqVWgnCAc/w-d-xo.html
      (yes its fantasy but the principles are the same) Most important of all have fun with it! :)

    Fantastic video mate. Have you tried contrast paints on 15mm?

    • @JonnyWatsonGaming
      @JonnyWatsonGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. The answer is yes and no. Contrast paints do not suit my style of painting. I tend to use them almost like glazes or washes when I do use them. However totally get they are a quick way of painting and work really well for a lot of painters out there.

  • @Chrisbo123

    Great vid, will definitely use this for mine! Just one question, what is the basing mix you are using? Is it self made or a ready mix? Cheers

    • @JonnyWatsonGaming

  • @yongzhewen7657

  • @rastamann2009
    @rastamann2009 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome painting tutorial! One question - do you dilute the PVA prior to applying it to the base? If so, by how much, more or less?

    • @JonnyWatsonGaming
      @JonnyWatsonGaming  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh thank you 🙏 so no this time I did not water down the PVA but it is a very runny PVA I used. A little water would never hurt much if you need to thin it down 😀

    If I drybrused the metal parts as very first step (possibly spray coating in black before it, but that's a matter of taste), the process would be even faster, would it?
