I’ve just completed the brilliant UAVHub A2CofC course and am confident of passing the exam. I did this with the expectation of purchasing the Mavic 3 classic with all the advantages it has over my mini 3 pro. But now I’m having second thoughts. If I still do get the Mavic 3 I intend to break two of the fundamental CAA rules and often fly it from my garden, as I do my mini 3. Then I’ll take it up to say a couple of hundred feet and immediately fly it on to where I will follow the rest of the CAA rules regarding separation etc. I will do this on the basis that it’s extremely unlikely to crash and even more unlikely to damage anything even if it did. As for breaking the VLOS rule that I have consistently broken with my mini 3 pro, my feeling is this. The reason I see this rule consistently being broken is that it’s unreasonable to expect a pilot to see the orientation of one’s drone even as close as 150 metres when one is inevitably looking at one’s screen frequently as well. And at 500 metres away the same applies. So the question is do I still buy the superb Mavic 3 classic bearing in mind what I’ve said?
Hi John I can’t really comment on your intentions to fly from home 😉 but what I can say is the classic is one hell of a drone. Keeping visual line of sight with the larger drones is easier as they are bigger and the right colour against the sky. I can’t rate this drone enough and would definitely recommend getting it. How you fly it is up to you I guess. Just remember they are heavy and would cause damage if it was to fall out the sky 👍
Yeah the waypoint feature would be really sweet on other drones especially for doing footage comparisons of the exact same place, you could really make it accurate
You’re probably right about the waypoints being the best feature of DJI drones. I don’t really care for the Mini 2 waypoints though. They don’t work too good. Hahaha. Sorry I’m late, brother. We moved this weekend and have been swamped with “stuff”. Lol. Cornbread time!
Hey Kevin. That’s great news 👍 waypoints on the mini 2 is fly a route then re fly it using the map 😁 bet you been a busy man. You have to catch up in the week. Enjoy your cornbread haha
@Nobbygreen yes arrived few days ago we were in skye fits my air2s perfectly cheers mate. Will try on my mavic 3 I used to use litchi for the waypoints on my old mavic air worked like a treat.
Thanks! How about when you are flying a waypoint mission on a hill with lower and higher areas compared to eg homepoint? How to handle this in altitude settings?
@@nobby-green understand. But what if you want to plan your mission from home. To save it for later flying. How do you determine and set the right altitude for the waypoints? Again reports people are getting the "calibrate the compass" Warning with every flight. Have you a photo page ? I keep checking in to see some images with this fantastic Camera the drone has.
Hi Gary. Not had any issues with sat lock as yet and compass has been fine too. Planning to do night flight this week hopefully. Weather has been terrible last couple of weeks 👍

Hello NobbyGreen, I am delighted to see you to the point review of this update info. I appreciate the seriousness of your words and am always delighted to listen to you explain what is not obvious to others. I just did a video in HLG of the new V.A. outpatient clinic in Central Florida here in the US and I posted it here done with my Mavic 3 Classic and did thebest I could with the color using Shiotcut which is easy on my brain to some degree. Here is the link from my shooting video on May 3 this year: th-cam.com/video/UnNp4E35I3Y/w-d-xo.html Beautiful New Veterans Outpatient Clinic Florida West Coast Color Corrected 2.65 HLG 5.1K Mavic 3 Classic I noticed there was a new update for the DLOG with an 'M' included so I can see the color details a bit when using DLOG which I find a lot harder than the HLG shooting for some reason. I am not good at video editing but try my best to learn. So now there are new updates I did and check the bird out so see if I had to reset anything and get it back on track. So now I am watching your video to see if I did everything correctly. I, like you, will never enjoy flying such beautiful drones as if they are POV aircraft as I had enough of that in real life during my military service in an F4 which was a lot safer than crawling around on the ground where 4 of my dearest friends I knew in my young years who did not even last several months crawling in a god forsaken jungle. I was angrier than a hornet when I arrived there with 10 other f4s right behind me with the same attitude. My flying days are a lot safer and more controlled now for sure. I know a fly app update brings a lot of new things but the important part to me is bugs fixed so it is better than an older version. Also seeing you were pleased with this new update gives me a better feeling using it again. I was told by many friends never use the DJI assistant so you know that. I did get locked out of my Mini 3 plus until they sent me the fix so it was not a pleasant experience. Never again will I use that. It ctually never did complete all the sensors on my Mavic 2 w-hasselblad yet it flies perfect;y and I have never tested them again. I do use the settings in the RC controller if I see try again later after several tries. I also updated and changed my password to a new one for all of my DJI drones which total 6 now. I love DJI. I kept my Mavic pro1 platnum, Mavic 2 Pro Hasselblad, and Mavic 3 Classic, and my Mini 1, 2, and pro 3 and all have plenty of batteries as well. There is a fellow on eBay that sells Mavic 3 batteries some new or 1 charge for either $139 or 149 us and he is totally honest and I own 2 of them plus the one that came with my Mavic 3. The counter CAN NOT be reset so they are as new. Each use shows a little more energy for several flights now as a new battery would. At $208 from DJI is a bit much for me for a 5,000 watter. Most auto batteries are less except for my Jeep which is a nightmare, LOL. Ray C. in America Thank you and may the Great Green Hills always STAND!! Ray C America
Fantastic Nobby, WOW, what a brilliant picture from that camera !! Kev.
Sure is Kev. Straight out the drone on auto too 👍
Another good tutorial, Nobby. Thanks for this and cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A.

Yes you can pin them on the map before flight.👍
