In 1981 my band were sent to a small studio to record some B sides. We were dropped off at a large terraced house and told to make ourselves known. I knocked /rang the door and then almost fell over when my all time hero, Nick Lowe, opened the door. It was his house and the studio was built in the two ground floor reception rooms. Spent some time chatting with him and Carlene Carter, and playing his red 8 string bass. The absolute highlight of my music career. I love that man and I love Rockpile.
Terry is one of the best drummers and also played with many pub rock bands (Rockpile, The Motors, Graham Parker, Mickey Jupp, Dire Straits, Ian Dury & The Blockheads)
There's two versions on vinyl one sung by DE which misses out the wonderful paradiddle buildup that Terry Williams does. The other features the track in full. My God what a band. I've seen the Who, Beatles, Love Sculpture, Bowie, Eric, Rory, even Hendrix, and many others but none, NONE ever topped Rockpile for me
There’s more going on here than basic rock n roll imo? Each brilliant song has its own incredible guitar part and sometimes a dual guitar part. All three could sing and had different voices and as Ry Cooder mentioned about Nick Lowe, he’s a phenomenal bass player who holds the thing together with the greatest rock n roll drummer in the business. Also Nick Lowe was churning out great songs at will

Goin to shows for 51 years… ROCKPILE is the tightest 1 HR SET I’ve ever seen.
Best rock and roll band I ever saw and fun guys!
The powerhouse skill of the two guitars operating on the very edge is what makes Rockpile a different animal to the Stones say.
I can’t imagine why this band wasn’t more popular.
They were magnificent!
This is the last honest stand of true rock n roll!!!!
Seeing Rockpile live in 1979 was the first time I had ever been brought to tears by a musical performance. They absolutely destroyed me in 50 minutes!
You get it!!!!
Obviously a gentleman of fine and discerning taste.
i was 14 on '79 and on the other side of the world ,tell us more please
No. '80, The Agora in Cleveland. Never forget. You can really hear Billy singing in this version.
Fun to remember when you were young! At least our crowd had taste!!
Love Billy Bremner's backing vocals
THIS is Rock N Roll. Fantastic.

Wow! What a version!
A Rockpile concert in the late ‘70’s was a guaranteed great night out... a phenomenal live band you could see for a very reasonable ticket price.
Tattyshoes Shigure indeed. Experienced said late 70’s shows a few times. I’d roll back the clock in a heart-heartbeat.

I saw Nick Lowe and Rockpile open for Elvis Costello at Hollywood High School in 1978. It’s in my top 3 concerts of all time.
@@cassdarlon7253 That must have been one of the all time great shows......Saw Elvis in '79........Man oh man!!!!!!
This really is better than the TV versions flying around. Thank you!
I just tore the walls down.........Incredible rock and roll!
one of the tightest bands ever
seen rockpile live @ My Fathers Place, got blown away what a band.
Superb!
Good golly they brought the goods, I don’t think they realized at the time how good they were and the lasting impact on bands in their wake
WOW!
seen these guys long ago, what a awesone live band.
Matori, ovako se sviralo nekad. Odličan izbor da vide i čuju svirači kako treba da zvuči pravi rock and roll.
That's called laying it down. Smoking good!
Goddamn rock n roll!
Merci pour cette merveilleuse version!
A great song and band, and nice sound, much enjoyed, thanks!!!! 👍 Cheers 😊
The picture, and maybe the recording, is from Skansen, Stockholm in August 1978 ...
