God bless the Feelgoods..! Private Practice was the first 'real' album I ever bought, that was when I became musically conscious as it were. So, my introduction to, and then, permanent adherence to Dr Feelgood was based on the line up with Gypie Mayo. Never looked back.
I love the Wilco Era but Gypie brought a new different aspect to the band that was every bit as good in my opinion. Gypie plays stuff I don't think Wilco could do also.
Love JIPPY what a GREAT GUITARIST he was.. God Rest His Soul ..❤️❤️❤️.. I Met Him one night down Southend and what a Gent he was.. and a GREAT GUITARIST..❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻⭐️🌞🌞🌞👍🏻⭐️👍🏻 He was The Real Deal . As was Lee and Sparko and the Big Figer on Drums.. What a Band ..❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏻🌞🌞👍🏻
Why don't the BBC bother syncing the stereo tape that went out on the radio with the picture. Yes it does go out of sync but it's so easy to keep it in sync. I offered to do it for the BBC once for all these shows but they only have professionals at the BBC. I've done two syncs myself where I've found the footage and then found the BBC Radio FM recording of it. Nena sounds excellent. I've also done the 1000 Edition of Top Of The Pops from 05/05/1983. This was a one off until 1988.
This was just when Gypie first started and he had to be encouraged by Lee to showboat a little like Wilko used to. I remember listening to this and taping it on Radio 1. Gypie was a great lead guitarist too - just a totally different style to Wilko. If I am not mistaken Gypie co-wrote The Feelgoods' only top 10 hit. RIP Lee, Gypie and Wilko.
He( Gypie) was a huge influence to me as a guitar player when i was a teenager ,we all used to hang out in harlow ...they were great days that i will allways remember .....xxxmick

Quelle chance !
I keep watching for 45 years. Magic solos. Very few come close.
Boy oh boy, what a band, this scouser has thought they where ace since 1976, god bless Canvey Island.
I don’t envy taking Wilco’s place. Good concert . Thank you.
Gypie does a killer job right here. I love Wilco and Gypie did amazing guitar as well.

Straight ahead basic feel good rock with the best singer/frontman since Howlin Wolf.

I met John Mayo in a record shop in Leigh on Sea one time... he was buying a Mozart CD.

I wonder how this would sound with a Gibson sg ? Alas we'll never know .
The 335 might give us a clue .
Steve Walwyn and Gordon Russell no slouches either…
Gypie filled some very big shoes brilliantly after Wilko spat the dummy.
& Gypie
wilco still the best ,gypie better guitar player ,but wilco more exciting.
That choppy rawness of wilkos style is unbeatable, unmatched to this day I reckon.
Both great guitar players who brought a lot to the band. I can appreciate both of them without hating the other one. I love Wilco and Gypie.
Sorry IT AINT WILKO
Love Wilko, but Gypie a MUCH better guitarist.
Wilko rides the line, for 30 silverlings, the measure for a male human sacrifice after the Law of Moses. Afterwards he rocks Philadelphia. 🍷😎
They're as good as each other, just different styles.
@@StivGators Absolute true
"better" is subjective. I admired them both.
Steve Walvyn so much better guitarist than Gypie. Totally another level.
The Big Figure@19:00 fucking brilliant.
