  • BMW did not spare any expense when making this new BEV. BMW went the extra mile when they developed it, using a new agile team method and allowed the team to think out of the box and do whatever it takes.
    The iX concept was first shown in 2018 and was signed off by BMW’s design chief, Domagoj Dukec. It was designed inside-out to be technologically complex, yet very user friendly.
    BMW is juggling numerous powertrain option for their cars, maintaining and developing new technology and yet they made a pre-tax profit of 23.5 billion Euros in 2022 (up 46% compared to 2021). So they are doing something right.
    Actually BMW was one of the early movers with the i3 and i8 back in 2013 and 2014, but then backed away from BEVs for almost 8 years. Now BMW is back with a vengeance and has some of the most advanced BEVs on offer, incl. the luxury i7, the i4, the iX3, the iX1 and this one, the super-advanced iX and the soon-to-come i5.
    The result of BMW’s effort is a really good car which in many aspects sets a new benchmark for large fully electric SUVs or even BEVs in general. The price of this BMW iX 50 as it stands here, is CHF 157,750 incl. a number of options, the base price of the iX 50 starts at CHF 120,100.
    Thank you Hedin Automotive for providing the vehicle!

    Mortens verdict is correct, 2024 BMW iX is a showstopper on wheels! The grille, initially divisive, has become a game-changer. Morten's 12-min review is spot on. It would taken an hour for a complete overview of all innovative features. After a 30-min tech rundown by Shaun Patterson at the Naperville BMW, I was sold and drove out with my own iX. While at the dealer I Noticed many eyes drawn to the iX, even from those considering combustion models.
    Want to stand out? Go for the iX. Prefer subtlety? Maybe reconsider.

    I love this car. Bmw around the corner had 3 in different colours. i loved the iron man red and gold :). All were 69000 euros. If you are rich.. a bargain. They have all been sold now :(

    Just bought this car today. Wasn’t planning on this option, but the car has the bronze titanium package which means front grill and trim are all in bronze titanium. Wife thinks it a bit too much bling of ghetto, but makes my car standout from all the other Ix 50’s out there.

    Well done. I'm an admirer of the BMW iX50 and intend to purchase one soon. Your review of the iX was thorough and a fair comparison with the MBX EQS SUV and Audi e-tron. I've evaluated the EQS and Audi and believe the EQS is overpriced, while Audi’s range has definitely improved it must exceed 300 miles before I would consider it comparable to the iX or EQS. Now that I've discovered your channel, I am going to listen to your other car reviews. Thank you.

    I have a 2024 IX M60, and I wish I had waited for the 2025 model year, which is already available in Europe and as early as March 2024 in the U.S. The 2025 receives the new M-style steering wheel and dark accents for the interior instead of gold and bronze. Carbon fiber trim for the M60 would have been nice! We do need that trailer hitch and the IX has it, except BMW doesn't provide it for the US market. ?? It is often hard to put the kid's bike in the back. I also wished the range was better. So far, I am very disappointed with the range and the charging time. I hate the fact that BMW and other automakers get away with the "up to" range. What does that mean? I also wished they had the rear window sunshade. All my other BMW SAVs had them. One would think that for a special car like IX they would have one.

    Awesome. Gonna have to pick one of these up when I get my next movie paycheck. What about all the headlines on subscriptions in new bmws? Do I have to pay for the seat heating every year?

    • @morten_hannesbo
      @morten_hannesbo  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy the options outright - depending on the market BMW will offer subscription or pay-per-use. In my opinion the subscription solution is the wrong idea at the wrong time...It may be useful for upgrading used cars, but I do not think the concept will find any end consumer acceptance.

    Any reason (esthetic, functionality) it didn’t have a frunk? Since it’s designed/built as an ev from ground. I currently drive a model s and r1t and found frunk is handy when doing grocery shopping.

    • @morten_hannesbo
      @morten_hannesbo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Jackking, I cannot mention a reason. It seems that the German manufacturers have decided that frunks are unnecessary for no other reason than that is what they think. It is a missed opportunity in my opinion which they will rectify at a later state. I understand that a driver of a BMW i7 or Mercedes EQDS luxury sedan may not need a frunk but most other drivers would like one.
