Great video I learned a lot of details one little item you missed is on the volume control knob. You talked about the long press to reboot the system however, a quick click on the volume control knob puts the sound in mute, and then click again to end mute.

This is super informative!! Thank you again for putting vid. together. When you go into menu I've noticed dashcam reordering, is this a built in dash camera or records before/after accident occurs. Thank you for your input.
BMWs do have built in drive recorder. It doesn’t work as good as a real dash cam though.
The drive recorder is used to provide you an additional surround view that helps with parking and yes it does have a feature where it can record an accident.
This only records when the airbags go off and you have to make sure you set this up ahead of time as well.
I’d opt in for a real dash cam, BMW does offer one of their own that can record even in parked situations.

There are some differences between the packages . My package does not the special seats. So memory for driver seat positioning is based on-the key fab. Also does not have indoor camera. ( seat plus indoor camera is part of a package)

Haven't tried this one but the best way to try is to go into the seating menu where you would see the button to start massage seats, then try clicking and holding it for a little bit and see if it pops up as "add to shortcut" or "add to shortcut as gesture" if it's possible, it'll be done this way.

Yes I'm pretty sure it is, having the glove box secured when getting a car valet has been around for a longggg time. Im sure by going into valet mode, it'll lock all by itself.
JSYK drive recorder function in IDrive 8.5 limits recorder to only one camera, you can no longer select multiple (more than one) to record

I like to know the cost and option of rear wheel turn, is it really better for parking and especially in tight spot?
Rear wheel turn is great for low parking lot speeds. It does do a good job of increasing the turn radius and yes helps with parking as well. If you're in a large car like the IX and tend to do a lot of parking or very low speed driving, you may like this feature. You can totally tell the difference as well, as for the price it can tend to change depending on vehicle, but I would look online on the build website.
Just had my M240I in for some warranty issues and they gave me a ix 50 MSport- despite being 2500kg and the size of a planet it is seriously quick, electric is definitely relaxing to drive with the instant torque although I did miss the sound of my car

You can open the hood still. Two wires underneath the front console, one on each side and you pull them down. Each side pops open and you can open the hood.
Didn't know that, will have to try it out. Do keep in mind they did this so the general public would not mess with it. You could damage the edges when lifting it.
Just Have a question how does X5 xDrive50e compare to ix? would like to know whats the differences in terms of performance and driving experience. Thx
iX drives much more smooth and quicker too of course. I personally thing EV vehicles have the edge here with performance in general. BMW Handling mixed with Instant Torque makes for an amazing performance vehicle.
Can you also use usb A outlet for media files playback?
They have been reports that this is no longer going to be a feature in the newer BMWs, I would say no to this. Your best way is going to be to upload the files from your computer to your smart phone.
Hi I have a question on the memory seats. Do those save to the key or car. Like if I save set 1 to one key and save set 1 to another key will it keep the changes based on the key? Or is it based on the car and when I set 1 it will change no matter what key I use.
It will save to the BMW ID which is essentially linked to a key. So to answer your question, it will save to the key.
@beamerview would you choose the iX over a x3 or x5 currently?
Largely depend on the type of commute that I'm doing. But, its great for less miles and city like driving, mines more highway which makes more sense to get a gas powered car.
But if that wasn't a factor, I would choose the IX hands down. Much better tech, more fun to drive, easier to live with, better resale. The only thing I would be hesitant about is some minor bugs here and there.
The vehicles are very new and I would wait about one more year before jumping into one so they have time to refine the vehicle more.

You can open the hood via two loops on the driver's side and passenger side front.
Will have to try this out good to know. Keep in mind they refrain from doing this since it could damage the edges of the hood.

The rear view mirror is a manual adjustment.
I wish you could've drove the car. Is this car handicap accessible? Does it have self driving?
Self driving yes, it requires the package DRIVING ASSISTANCE PROFESSIONAL, which it has. I do not believe it is handicap accessible

You may have to get a USB C Flash Drive in order to export it.
It's located near the cup holders on the bottom of the armrest.

I have realized that when my car is parked in my driveway it will often flash its lights a few times per night . What is that ?
Not sure why it may be doing it, It could be the motion detector detecting something moving. Try pressing lock to disable this feature and see if that's what's causing it. I would also make sure the vehicle is locked if it isn't already.

Can you use a ring to turn your car on and off open the doors? They sell smart rings these days
Rings are not yet compatible as far as I know, watches yes. I do know it works with the apple watch for now.

Good points! I'll try the hood as well, they did say it's not recommended since there is a chance that you'll damage the top edges of the hood.
How can you make a video claiming to know all the tips and tricks and then not know that the hood can be opened through two access panels in the a pillars. "Only bmw technicians can get in there" my ass
Yup it’s possible. But no point on the average consumer getting into there. Good point though 😘
