Naming the unnamed lakes after all the missing children would be great. I really hope that someone watching this and hearing your idea will be the one to make it happen. I respect you and Jim for the respect you give the land and water and all those who have come before us. Canada proud.
Thought of you boys way out there in Canada's great untamed wilderness and one of my poems came to mind. You brothers are cut from a different mold, it's like you were born out of the voyager era. Stay safe out there guys and keep doing what you love. First But Not The Last To explore the wilds of yesteryear, So pristine and still untamed. Camp in the deepest forest, Underneath the tallest trees, Where wildlife still abounds, With streams filled with fish. To stand under a waterfall, And breathe the purest mist. @@TheRealTedBaird You're very welcome Ted, a big thanks to you and Jim for bringing these amazing videos, I haven't watched tv in months now lol, you guys have the number one rating in my books!
Wow! Big Sand Lake is long as our region, from the mountain to the Adriatic Sea. Born, grow and form yourself culturally in such fascinating places, by extension and by flora and fauna diversity, opens the mind to curiosity, adventure and creativity.Thank you very much. Take care. Ermes Ivo and Wanda
Great video once again! I love all of the sounds too....the rapids, paddle blades dipping into the water, paddle shafts tapping the gunwales, wind, bugs, loading the canoes, wood sawing, wood cracking, fire crackling, fish flopping, bush whacking, canoes dragging through brush, camp stove firing up, water boiling, food packages opening, fish frying, lines casting, lures plopping, even the Baird brothers singing if you can call it that. I used to wish I could sing now I wish that they could! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
I can't tell you guys apart. But is looks like Ted does all the work. He unloads the canoes, he cuts up the wood, he starts the fire and sets up the tent. The guy is a marvel. What a great brother. Jim is a lucky guy.
The scenery is so beautiful. The adventure is exciting. But the big takeaway from your videos for me is the lesson to feel each moment of my life as something special, good or bad, and to push through no matter how hard the task. I'm so inspired by your perseverance and your joy in your successes. Thank you!

You guys take me to some of the most beautiful places with your amazing videos! I have been in love wIth Canada and it’s beautiful landscapes, amazing fishing, and amazing citizens since the first time my father took me on a fishing adventure when I was 12. Since then 40 years have past and I have made many trips to northern Ontario since that first time and I cannot get enough! You both are very fortunate to be doing what your doing and what’s really cool is you both know that ,appreciate and respect Mother Nature and all of Gods gifts that surround us. That lake is wicked. It has been pretty obvious so far in this trip that anyone who would attempt a trip of this nature best know their knots. Great idea for building catamaran. Enjoying your videos of this trip.
Thanks. The jam knot was a great one for the catamaran. Truckers hitch also.....but its amazing how far a compound granny knot can take you 😂 if that all u know 🍻
Big lures low probability of fish, high probability of big fish!!!!! Welll just as I was commenting you explained it all to me!!!! Your adventure is epic!!!!

Epic crossing of the catamaran on the 100K lake there, but not as smooth as the "one that got away!" or Jim's rum!! Absolutely fabulous scenery under the big blue sky. Thanks for doing the work while we sit and watch ;))

This reminded me of my Dad who would rig floats next to his canoe so it wouldn't tip over in rough water. He was the luckiest of fishermen too. Kind of had me a bit emotional. What an epic and cool thing to do with your brother. Love these adventures.

OMG that sounds wonderful thanks for sharing that. My Grandfather was Jim that built his own Cabin with my dad around the same time after purchasing a plot crown land..We grew up free to explore they had a red canoe at 1st to bring in lumber then a 10hp steel boat once i was young. My grandfather Jim loved fishing also. So much of your memories sound like mine..Actually My current Dog Bella is 1/2 German Shorthair and Half Yellow lab. The Shorthair in her is such a character we just love it. Hope you have a great night
And by the way, how you speak of this trip and what it means to you to be out there with your brother, and some of the history around this area, really sticks with me as a viewer. I like this kind of narrative in film. I feel as though I am there too. I have been in lakes with little or no people on it, and the sense of peaceful and being a part of it really exists. Thanks for that.

Hi guys, I don't have the time to read all the comments, but to get your "catamaran" into the water why don't you just use logs and roll it in! Also, I would use a kayak bilge pump with and extension hose to bail out the water from both canoes! Great series, keep 'em coming more often so that I don't have to wait weeks for the next one!

Thanks Sandra yes its very true its so incredibly vast and wild its hard to comprehend. I gotta make it to NZ one day its absolutely gorg. Thanks for tuning in
The provinces and Territories whose official names are aboriginal in origin are Yukon, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Nunavut etc... Canada, some cities, lakes, rivers origin are Native American Indians. Except for the North America was named after the first explorer name Amerigo from the Spain.
Fantastic video. Total solitude. Great idea lashing the canoes forming a cat. To bad about that fish . Drag way to tight. General rule the drag should be 1/3 rd the test of the fishing line. Twenty pound test 6&1/3 lbs. With braid 7 lbs. is ok Using an fishing line scale attach you can ancor one end and attach the fishing line to the other end. Next snug up drag . Next lift your rod and slowly loosen the drag until the line starts coming off the reel. Ihope this helps. Iset up my stripper drag using 30 lb test Berkley Fire Line and set it at 10lbs, Works great
Yes I agree it was 100% too tight then had a fray in it prob from trolling out the back and rubbing on the log. The fish swam at me and I was fooled to its size but I had a chance to loosen the drag and blew it.... Ill prob never get over it haha. That's a great tip about the drag measuring 1/3rd....Thanks for tuning in...Cheers

First But Not The Last
To explore the wilds of yesteryear,
So pristine and still untamed.
To look across a great expanse,
That's yet to have a name.
To walk atop a mountain,
That overlooks the sea.
Camp in the deepest forest,
Underneath the tallest trees,
Where wildlife still abounds,
With streams filled with fish.
To stand under a waterfall,
And breathe the purest mist.
Our wilderness is disappearing,
At an ever alarming rate.
We must take a stand to protect it,
Before it becomes too late. Dan Baker

Love your guys adventures!!! Just love the fishing!!!!
Liked before I’ve seen it. Such an amazing journey
