"Life is what happens instead of what you had planned." - J Lennon Great vid. Glad you got your gear back. Slainte! (Oh and, it's TH-cam so you should blur your license plate.)
Anyone who has a brother around their age can have unending entertainment watching these guys. “Older brother” You tryin to pass me? “Little brother” uh no, you were just walking slow. Then stops to let big brother take point. Love it. I love my brothers and wish we could spend as much time together doing awesome things like this. Having a bro you can’t trust with your life is an amazing gift. The brotherly love is priceless.
Wow, this wasn't the adventure you were hoping for, but still and epic adventure. You Both showed the Baird Brothers endurance by seeing this one though to the end. It wasn't backpacking, it wasn't canoeing, It was a Slug Fest... One step at a time.! Glad you got your equipment back, but even more I was glad to see you complete this adventure together!!! Like Brothers!!..I will ALWAYS have my Brothers Back!.. You Still have the "winners" spirit together. Keep setting the bar high!!! Peace!...
Thanks Rob ! Love it great feedback a slugfest for sure lol. Loved the journey with Jim its great we can share the experiences together. Appeeciate the suport 🍻
You guys are amazing, to complete these wilderness expeditions and film them yourselves is way above anything else I’ve watched. Brotherly love at its best. Thank you Ted and Jim, we have nothing comparable to this here in the UK.👍🏻👍🏻
Even though this trip went unfavorably for you guys, it actually made for a memorable series in the sense of how challenging it turned out, and what everyone, including your viewers, can learn from it. Really, really glad that Jim's severed tendon was not a permanent injury and that he is on the mend! I'm reminded of what the late, great Bill Mason wrote concerning "adversity" on wilderness canoe trips. BTW, I liked your quote on what constitutes/defines adventure, lol. Thanks Ted (and Jim too) for all the effort you both put into the filming of this and for including this beast mode gut-slog aborted paddling trip in your channel in spite of it being a near disaster. We viewers are the better for it, as the harsh realities of northern wilderness paddling have been accurately portrayed as they sometimes go down - all the good, the bad and even the ugly. Loved it! ATB
Hey Brother! Thanks a lot for the awesome feedback i appreciate it all in all u are right so many positives to take away from the whole experience thanks for sharin ure thoughts. Have a great weekend 🍻
so glad it all ended up well. And i have to correct you on something: you didn't lose the adventure, you had the adventure plus one! That's what adventure is all about, the unespected, the surprise, the change of plans and the test to the limit, and i think you both did it all right
Hi, Baird Brothers, in the end even the recovery of the canoes turned out to be an adventurous trip, but even from things that did not go as planned we can gain good learning, as the saying goes: not everything comes to harm! How nice to hear the ticking of the rain in the tent: I would remain in the shell until the sun returned. Here we are too hot to be in the mountains and the glaciers are melting We wish you all good things to plan. Bye from Kanaltaler people NE Italy.
I really enjoy seeing videos of you two tripping together❤️. I also enjoy watching Ted help his older bro out and the willingness of both of you to listen to each other before making a decision.
Thanks for the great videos, Guys. I'm old now and won't be returning to Canada to fish, but watching your videos brings it all home. I've loved the outdoors since I attended summer camp in northern Minnesota at age 10 in 1957. We could climb the ranger's tower and see Canada in the distance, and I still remember the adrenaline surge. Thanks again...
The amount of work that you guys put into a video is truly under estimated. As always , fantastic job. Appreciate the journey you provide for all to watch.
Hey, love the way you fix your bread for breakfast, my grand mother did that in her open fire place. I learned from her the same as you are doing. this was like 70 years ago. she was born around 1882. love watching, I also taught survival classes, back 30 yrs ago, but of it all i loved cooking on open fires. cherish every moment of your time, while you can enjoy. Stuck in a tent at 7:30 AM in a tent during a down pour. That is a perfect situation/reason to start drinking Rum! Love following you on your adventures! Cheers (sips Rum) Here’s to many many more!
Well done guys and way to get after it!! Much respect for your brother for not letting his hand "ax'ident"😂get him down!! Also much respect to you for sticking with him/by his side. Love how you guys just go AND wing it. Loved the part where Jim says F@$! That axe head and wraps the hell out of it with duck tape. Not gonna let it mess me up again attitude!! Keep the adventures coming, very inspiring!!
What a brutal trip from start to finish, yet you rolled with every adversity and filmed it to boot. Amazing! Would love to have seen the condition of your canoes after being dragged up that crick. Anytime you want to start a Patreon account, I’m in.
Hey Pam yes was what a slog of an adventure! Filming definitely ads to the challenge a lot. I should have showed the canoes but believe itnor not there were in excellent shape still. Just scratches nothing deep. Awesome materials we have come a long way from birch bark lol! And thanks for the Pateron offer really appreciate it. Take care Have a great weekend.
I have always admired each and every one of you individually for being so strong and hardworking, but you look wonderful together and the film really touched my heart.
Love the team work real brothers. Cover each others weakness by their strength. When out in the wilderness seeing God handy work can't help knowing there's a God and you require his strength. Amen
Adventure starts when things stop going to plan - sounds like a Baird trip to me. Glad you guys came out on top again, makes for a good watch while waiting for the next trip. Cheers.
Good Friday Ted & Jim! Glad that you guys are able to retrieve your belongings and made back in one piece! Definitely, you guys look into making thick leather covers or cases for the sharp objects!

Hey Bro! We made it yeahhh! Whatva slog. We signed up for and adventure and thats what we got. Super lucky to have suchba strong relationship with Jim frggin lucky for sure. Looking forward to sharing the next ones 🍻
When pulling a boat up a river , tie a rope from one Orr lock around under the boat to the other Orr lock. Then tie your pull rope from under the boat. This will stop the boat from pulling left and right in the currant.
Any canoeing, love it. Plus you guys show the real......... need to get a lot of experience. May be able to get a big Old Town. Get on the water, get some hours. Good luck.

That was some trip! All the beeping out words was pretty funny! In the end great video and you both made it back safe and no injuries. Looking forward to the next one!
Great video happy to see that you were able to get all your gear back in one piece. That was some pretty tough portages for you and the canoes I imagine the spray deck cables would occasionally snag in the thick brush. I am very impressed with the durability of the Novacraft canoes after dragging them over so many rocks and obstructions. Looking forward to Jim's version of the rescue on his channel 👍
Thanks Gene! Yes these Novacrafts are tough as nails. Thats a big reason of why we love them been using them for years. We took them across Quebec and Labrador years ago where we draged and scrsped and smashed beat slammed u name it the canoes lol and we still have those canoes today. They have come a long way since birch bark lol. The decks do get caught up in the bush as do the throw bags ropes etc. All part of the fun 😂 thanks for tuning in 🍻

Great episode, really liked how you put together the story about your efforts getting back. Also your monologue about the fat and lazy Bob the Beaver was priceless 😊
You two are just like to buffaloes with a mind set to just do it. Wacking it! :) I know camera work makes it double work, but i am sure glad you bring it on so we can share your adventures. Thanks for sharing, as always! :)
Ted and Jim I think you should get a pair of high quality black diamond trekking poles for these river walks. Your paddles work but you have the money, and the distance is night and day. I think you will like trekking poles in general aswell and take them with you on your carries with all the weight you pack.
@@TheRealTedBaird the poles are super lightweight, I never hike without them. In the ozs. Good carbon fibers can support hundreds of pounds and If you learn to use them correctly while you do those ridiously heavy carrys you guys do I think you will find they are worth their weight in gold. Even good little bushwhackers. They look silly but I would never hike without them again - even if I find I don't need them. It is like taking 30lbs off your back.
Right not a bad idea. I just find that im always at risk having to go back for another trip to carry something sometimes its just a paddle or 2 so if i had poles and then had to go back for paddles it maybe wouldn't be worth it. Although if it makes us less likely to get injured it maybe well worth it. Either way something to think about. Thx again 🍻
@@TheRealTedBaird Definetly. And they turn you into a billy goat on those rough scrabbles. Every time I see you guys trip it terrifies me you're gonna break your ankles where as when you're descenting something (Like when Jim got hurt) if he could've put the sticks down in front of him to climb down that rock, I don't think he would've lost balance (maybe) and maybe you would've made it down the temagami this year, all over a walking stick!

@@TheRealTedBaird Yeah, I heard that procrastination has become a common problem among beavers 😁
Haha!
Guys, that trip has river of pain written all over it.
Haha it totally does. River 1 Baird bros 0 final score 😆
You two are just like to buffaloes with a mind set to just do it. Wacking it! :) I know camera work makes it double work, but i am sure glad you bring it on so we can share your adventures. Thanks for sharing, as always! :)
Thanks a lot Elizabeth!
Ted You made it out Alive so this trip was not a failure tho not overly fish production❤
What an adventure, bet it's such a relief now everything is back safe 👌🏻
Thanks! Relief for sure
Awesome job team well done.
Thanks!
Well done boys! Looked like a rough one!
Thanks bud aside fromt rhe injury it wasn't all that bad lol 🍻
Ted and Jim I think you should get a pair of high quality black diamond trekking poles for these river walks. Your paddles work but you have the money, and the distance is night and day. I think you will like trekking poles in general aswell and take them with you on your carries with all the weight you pack.
Not a bad idea. They would have helped on this trip for sure. We r always overpacking already however lol. Thanksnfor the suggestion 🍻
Wow! Reminded me of a Snoopy poster in my orthodontist's office when I was a kid that said, "I can think of 10 places I'd rather be right now."
Haha!
