The apothecary in gravis is an auto include with eradicators because the eradicators have the ability to re-roll the hit, wound and damage roll against monsters and vehicles. So you fish for 6’s on the hit roll. And if you do fire discipline enhancement in gladius detachment, and under the devastator doctrine, you crit hits on 5 and you will get sustained plus one. And when you run a brick of 6 of them, you can have two multi melted and 4 melts rifles, which is 8 shots. So that’s how you run it. Hope that helps explain why people like it so much.
I believe he's said in the past that he mainly only runs the actual Black Templar detachment so it definitely doesn't thrive as much there as it does in Gladius, I can see why he's never gotten the appeal lol
@8:20 you cant take wounds on a character if his squad is still alive wounds HAVE to be allocated to non character models first, with the sole exception of precision attacks, where the wound can be allocated to a character of the opponents choice instead of the bodyguard
Fun nitpick: "Ancient" here is an archaic term for the standard, not the armor. Google says the root was "ancien" from which we got both "ensign" and "ancient" as terms for a flag/banner.
6:55 I like to bring him with Aggressors. He gives Lethal Hits on EVERYTHING. So attach him to a Squad of 6 Aggressors with Marneus Calgar? Kills Everything.
1. Eradicators make 8 shots, not 6 ;) 2. Autoinclude in detachment, when it gets crit hits on 5s thanks to enhancement 3. You can not place wounds on character models before bodyguard unit, so champion of the Emperor cheated a bit ;)
@TheDreadGazeebo Still officially no. Wounds received are decided by the receiver, not the dealer. Once attached, they are considered part of the unit absolutely, receiving the unit's benefits and of course giving their own benefits. Also why wound placement is widely considered a core part of the gameplay - it can remove your unit from both shooting or melee
I wouldn't call it shenanigans. He played the Gladius detachment wrong for months, and was visibly gobsmacked when he was corrected live in a video that featured a TH-camr who actually focuses on gameplay.
Costs so many points for that though. If you attach him to 6 Eradicators, give him that enhancement, that's now 310 points for 8 melta shots a turn. Plus they barely move at all, so then you're looking at a Land Raider to bus them into range, and now you've got 25%+ of your army paying for 8 melta shots a turn...
@@Chris-lr2qb8 shots that reroll to hit, wound, and damage, lethal hits and sustained hits on 5 plus (so it's probably closer to 10 shots/hits) and they're D6+2 damage on each hit, rerollable. Characters are alot of fun to build and paint, just wish they were like half the price, and the character attachment rules I'm still 50/50 on. I've painted like 5 Templar characters, an Apothacary, the Indomitus Chaplain, the Indomitus Captain but his shield was replaced by an old Templar chainsword so he's duel wielding swords which isn't a wysiwyg loadout but looks cool, Castellan Crowe but he was given a Templar shield and a Templar shoulder pad and was originally built by my friend to be a Deathwatch Templar Ancient for his Deathwatch army but later sold him to me and is now a Castallen or Lietenant with shield and power sword, and then the only model I converted myself which is the Black Templar Marshall whose pose I really like, I replaced his gun hand with a cool custom Templar shield I found and gave him the Crusaders helm from the upgrade sprue so he's technically a Captain with shield and power sword, that small group of characters is probably my favourite group of painted characters that I never use but love
I'm painting my Thousand Sons, and the Exalted Sorcerers are staring at me constantly. No paint, one of the most beautiful sculpts GW has ever done, with so many bits and cool things that can be any color, and I have no idea what I'm gonna do for them lol!

The apothecary looks so awesome though! GW should really sponsor you, because every time I watch your videos, I want to start a whole new army to paint.
I found my old 3rd edition captain model a few months back and for a little change decided to paint him green. It was so much fun I play salamanders now.
7:00 I use him in 10 man bricks of heavy intercessors and run the siege detatchment. 6 heavy bolter shots as well as the 8 other guys all hitting on twos with lethal hits is great.

I love characters and heroes in this game, 2 days ago i played against a friend with my Ork army, my beastboss killed all by himself my friends baneblade, it was epic
Apothecary Biologis is only really good in Gladius Strikeforce with the Fire Discipline enhancment. So you have Leathal hits, sustained hits and crits on 5+ when in dev doctrine
As an ork player we definitely have some fun heroes that feel auto include but only if you run the units. Like i wouldn't go out of my way to run a warboss in mega armor, but it l if i run a squad of meganobs, why not make them more brutal?! P.s. I name every model after I finish painting them and I'm just shy of 10k of orks 😀 it's a fun treat to myself and adds fluff to every battle
Newbish questions here. First quick background, I played 40k in the 3rd Edition Blood Angels. There is no local 40k community where I live to get a feel for the 10th edition. I'm open to playing other factions not just Blood Angels in fact I would prefer to go a different route for a different experience this go round. My painting skills are rather lacking, but I don't want to bring trash looking models to games. I'm considering Necrons because they look as though they would be easier to paint than most factions however, I was drawn to the appearances of Dark Angels with their dark green color palate and cool if not very useful in 3rd edition vehicle units. I'm drawn to the Cloaked Knights and dishonored faction lore cool factor of the Dark Angels. In terms of being able to field an army quicker and probably looking better I was considering Necrons. Any suggestions for someone who has been out of 40k since the 3rd edition? I'm open to pretty much anything besides horde type armies with excessive number of models to paint. I'm not a player that's married to current meta but would like a competitive army list for a newish player that doesn't require an insane number of minis.
I’m putting together my first 40k army, I’m doing raptors because I like their lore and the way they look lol. But I was wondering because they are a succession chapter of the ravenguard would I be able to use Kayvaan Shrike in my army?

Speaking of admech, could you paint one model of em? We'd love to know your thoughts on the models and possible paint schemes!
My unique Hellblaster squad is all wearing phobos armour alonf with the Lt and Apothecary that joins them.
Jay, what’s the stuff on your apron? Is there a radiation badge on there?
Since the 40K world has a lot of Latin names, it should be "Vin-di-car-ay". I think most people just forget the Latin influence, hence the mispronunciation... :)
Make Raven Guard a real divergent, spaceman chapter and lightning claws will be good at the expense of other stuff.
I love characters and heroes in this game, 2 days ago i played against a friend with my Ork army, my beastboss killed all by himself my friends baneblade, it was epic
6:41 wait you don’t take the two multimers with that I’m pretty sure that 10 shot I could be dumb though
Apothecary Biologis is only really good in Gladius Strikeforce with the Fire Discipline enhancment. So you have Leathal hits, sustained hits and crits on 5+ when in dev doctrine
Yo show us ur ork army
As an ork player we definitely have some fun heroes that feel auto include but only if you run the units. Like i wouldn't go out of my way to run a warboss in mega armor, but it l if i run a squad of meganobs, why not make them more brutal?!
P.s. I name every model after I finish painting them and I'm just shy of 10k of orks 😀 it's a fun treat to myself and adds fluff to every battle
You can buy Terminator Ancient in Blood Angel Terminator box.
More Death Guatd, please.
Gotta get that army tabletop ready by the end of the year.
how are these amazing bases done?
Vidicare is the Latin verb for vindicate, hence the pronunciation in the audiobook is probably trying to sound like Latin
You should take ur gravis captain in a game alongside the gravis apothecary and 6 bolter aggressors
Where did you get the name plates on the bases?
Hey Jay can you paint a grey knight please in your next space marine painting video. I would like to see your take on it. Love the videos !
I’m putting together my first 40k army, I’m doing raptors because I like their lore and the way they look lol. But I was wondering because they are a succession chapter of the ravenguard would I be able to use Kayvaan Shrike in my army?
You might have the apothecary from either a boarding patrol or the deathwatch combat patrol
