When your Thousand Sons roll hot: "Ah, Tzeentch must be paying attention to me."
When your Thousand Sons constantly whiff: "Oh no, Tzeentch must be paying attention to me."
Thousand Sons really got duped with their choice of Chaos God. At least papa Nurgle doesn't *deliberately* screw over his own servants.
@@Jagonath He actually does
Imagine in 2 or 3 years in future that Nick will face someone that into the hobby because of him
I mean realistically that could happen now haha
wouldnt be a guard player without him
Considering he is the reason my starting army is Tau, would love the chance to play and learn from him
@@random1ghost819same reason I want to play steve
Hek I got into the game because of him and this channel
These thousand sons are so well painted. Big respect for that
I can only hope to get them to look that good!
To be fair the Thousand Sons were painted by Colin Ward from Legalized Mischief and the Demons were painted by David Roberts of Dave Paints. in the UK. Both fantastic commission artists.
Yeah!!
Always feel really bad when a guest rolls so poorly - still a great sport and a fun game. Those TSons models are absolutely beautiful
I'm so used to rolling so poorly it doesn't phase me anymore. The bigger surprise for me is when I roll well!
Indeed!
You just KNOW the Guardsman piloting that Scout Sentinel that parried the Vortex Beast and chainsaw'd a wound into it was the talk of the company after this battle
as he should be!
@@im_flat
@@cvtuttle He even lived to tell the tale! Man's halfway to Living Saint already!
With those rolls it is obvious defeat was part of Tzeentch's plan.
*Rogal Dorn actually moves*
Tzeentch: What sorcery is this?
That "pile of glue " joke was not horsing around. Well played.
What is this, a crossover episode?
Nurgle would be proud!
Whoever's been producing the music for these videos is absolutely fire at sound design. Super catchy and vibrant every time, gah damn
came here to say this exactly
Agree 39 minute song is what I noticed the most
This was a special stand out episode for sound design - the music was phenomenal!
Nice sound editing!!
As a Ksons player I cant tell you what part of this battle hurt the most. All the rolls of 1 and 2 are a strong contender, but I also felt the lack of cabal points right in my chest
I was literally counting the cabal points during list previews and wiggling in my seat with pain. That and the disturbing lack of magnus lol.
@@UnityAmongstChaos Absolutely. I love watching and seeing off-meta Thousand Sons on Play-On because it's more interesting, but off-meta definitely hurts the army a lot. Hopefully some variety will come along and fix that
I mean it is a casual game. I think it’s okay to not always be competitive with your lists
@@Whoknows21356 For sure. Ksons as an army is just unusually punished for not bringing a competitive list, so it hurts a bit to play that way. The strength of the army is in its synergy and combos to modify damage. I mean, can you imagine if Nick played this game with his army built in a way to only get access to a single guard order? That would be silly
I would say the not attaching characters hurt the most lol
Those dice rolls :( felt sooo bad but great armies!!
You felt bad!? Imagine how I felt! 😂
@@cvtuttle oh man i could feel it! Im a thousand sons player (and necrons) since 4th edition D: tzeentch myst be playing some SERIOUS long con on those imperial guards!
Tzeetch must be trolling arround!
Wow, if Tzeench is the lord of change then maybe he wanted you to change dice. Your army is beautiful. Great video guys.
I brought my own dice - but Play On Tabletop wants you to use their dice for camera visibility.
One can seriously feel the absence of the Psychic Phase from time to time...
Really was just the lack of cabal points. Who brings a list that generates 5? In a 2k game? Hell my 1k list still puts out 15
Thank you for uploading doom soundtrack
That RC tank was awesome! I would never stop playing with it at home.
I bursted out laughing when the Dorn turned out to be remote controlled!
Yeah I was looking at the tracks thinking about why they were so differently painted, then when it moved, realised they're rubber...D'oh!
God, as someone who got into the hobby mainly because of this channel, I can only dream of facing the Son of Chaos himself one day. He inspired and made me collect Death Guard, an army I love so much! Stellar production again, amazing sound and beautifully painted models again! AND A REMOTE CONTROLLED TANK WAIT WHA
The true heroes of the Imperium take the stage they deserve !
Seeing Gaunts Ghosts in action would be pretty cool
No. It was not fun to watch.
As a tsons player, this was suffering.
Just as planned
Tzeentch has noted your lack of faith that it is all part of the plan.
Please do a 10th Edition grey knights game, and a black templars one too
The first round must've been one of the less brutal I have seen of 10th edition so far, almost nothing seemed to die
Ive never felt so bad for someone's dice just abandoning them at the altar like this before in my life.
I'm so used to it by now...
i was pretty excited for this, As these are my Two armies, and then i realized ive already seen this match. still a great one as always. feels bads for the Mutlaith though. ;-;
My God, those Thousand Sons and Tzeentch demons are so beautifully painted. It is pleasure to watch them. Big respect for that!
Yup!
Great painting as always! I also really enjoy the "football casting" voiceover work. It really makes it entertaining to watch
FOR THE EMPEROR, FOR CADIA, FOR LORD SOLAR!!!
Cadia stands!
Two blue-clad armies meet on the battlefield. But only one can have the favor of the Architect of Fate.
The Vanquisher auto rerolls wounds vs vehicles :)
those rolls were COMICALLY bad lmao
Good job Nick! Nice to see a guard victory ✌️
Me thinking that the riders will go down first round. The riders: To Death and Glory!
So glad to see Carl! Used to love it when he’d cross paths with the LatCS podcast back in the day. I also played Carl at Adepticon in 2011 his Ultramarines and my Blood Angels. Super fun game and just a fun, enthusiastic guy.
Love seeing Carl here. Such a good guy! IC's Podcast is one of my all time favorites.
Thanks @BranOfSteel!
My boyfriend and I enjoy miniature gaming but we can never seem to get into Warhammer stuff. Your playthroughs are so freaking good that it makes us want to pick the game up and go bankrupt buying more plastic toys!
All of a sudden a wild RC tank appears.
Yeah that actually blew my mind.
Every time you say "Movement Phase," I hear it as a "Mubin Phase."
This is why we play these games. To watch absurd dice rolls and laugh our butts off.
For a moment I forgot that members got early access to this video, so I was SUPER confused when they were playing the same armies lol
excellent visuals and table effects. really elevates the medium. great job guys.
Always nice to see a Land Raider. I feel like I’m alone singing it’s praise in Custodes as both a transport and Lascannons on tracks
I love my Crusader and the ball of hate I can transport in it.
I don't think I've ever heard JT say several times..."no words, I have no words"
3 seconds from having to retitle it 40k in 50 minutes.
I think Nick forgot the Rapid Fire 4 and Twin Linked of the Exterminator 😢
Also that vanquisher gets a free reroll to wound vs vehicles, so he didn't need to use the command point reroll that failed
Man, glad to see a list of TSons not including the same as always. So happy to see some tanks!
That Dorn is absolutely beautifully painted!
Indeed!
Man I could listen to Carl play Warhammer all day, guy is so chill
Thanks man! That's really nice of you to say!
I've been looking forward to this video since Carl mentioned this was coming on the IC's sometime last month! Great work as always!
Their videos are awesome!
Carl is quite the conflicted gamer.
I’m pulling for Nick.
Thousand Sons… 😬
Tzneetch daemons… 😣
“Pile of glue” made me do a spit take.
These videos are always amazing! They’re great to watch at any time. I nearly died today, and I decided to watch a Play On Tabletop video to help calm me down.
The tonal whiplash of going from “great video” to “I nearly died” is simply amazing. Hope you’re doing ok!
@@cupcakewithatophat1131 I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.
Yup!
the tsons constant rolling of mass 1s and 2s....dear god
We need a showcase for those thousand sons, chefs kiss
I feel bad cause he forgot the vortex beasts end of movement phase ability but I can't judge cause I forget it all the time. But at least he tanked a bunch of shots
I'm glad, that I'm not the only TS player, who forgets the lethal hits from the detachment rule all the time 😅
Jeez tzeentch really didn't bless your dice...or maybe those 1s were his blessings?
I know what it feels like to roll that poorly throughout a game. Not the greatest feeling ever🤣
Great battle report!
Why did you use the reroll for the small stuff and not for the main battle tank at 11:48? That round 1 was crazy from both sides, the die didn't seem to want to help either side. Good ol' Tzeentch schemes
Where did that pyramid terrain come from?!? Its amazing!
*Clap *Clap *Clap
So you too join the 1% of people who can use Daring Recon. You've done it Nick, you're getting better, slowly but surely. Really impressed by the use of Daring Recon and the Fields of Fire for free, and Withering Hail. That small little optimization and you won your first Guard Game! Of course it was really because of the opponent's dice being so bad but its a development.
Seriously though you are shooting yourself in the foot by not just having the data card in your hand and reading it as you shoot with each unit. It might seem dumb but you totally missed Twin Linked and Rapid fire (Exterminator) and Psuedo Twin Linked against Vehicles for the Vanquisher. Yes the Vanquisher sucks when you don't use its ability. P sure you wasted like 3 cp on its rerolls alone. Anyways, the Tank was cool touch. Definitely the 40k Batrep with the most resources dumped into it.
I haven't been this entertained watching a batrep in years. The editing and the commentary really add so much character and flavor to your content.
Loved this episode. Nick is such an inspirational dude. I’d love to know where you guys got that Prospero inspired terrain. Excellent episode guys
Bought a pack of 3D files from cults 3d
The RC Rogal Dorn is amazing!!!
I know! Now I want one very badly, that or an RC Baneblade 😆
I would like "whole army" turn based 40k transform a little toward "unit/points value" turn taking. Like you choose a unit that you want to do something and move, fighting/shooting is all done, then the opponent can retaliate, either with a unit, tank, creature or special character of their own.
I feel it would reduce a lot of the impact of the person getting first turn. I havent played for a long time, but whoever gets first turn has a big advantage, right??❤
we will get AA eventually (hopefully)
That's definitely a neat idea! That's kinda how Age of Sigmar's fight phase works too, though I suppose there is a reason why this works like that.
Though yeah whoever gets first turn has a big advantage.
@@steliosvagianos8445 i think 40k and age of sigmar have basically the same fight phase just that charging doesnt grant fights first in aos, and in 40k it starts with the defending player
@@mangost2008 I am very new to AoS, though I do believe players take turns picking units to fight back and forth in fight phase. I may be mistaken
The problem is this would make 40k take even longer because on average you would have more activations per game. The game already takes 3 hours as is
Seems like every time he invoked Tzeentch before a dice roll he was off by exactly one. In other words, it worked.
Should've played the final round, those horses weren't painted so no 10 points for the guard ;op
In all seriousness though, really sucks to have a guest come all the way out and roll like that xD
Dude... Tzeentch absolutely cursed your dice. A ton of fun to watch and good sprotsmanship was awesome to see when those dice were cursing you.
Haha and here I was just thinking about starting my second army of Thousand Sons. Little did I know that Tzeentch hates his followers.
Some of the miniatures have evolved great from Rogue Trader to 10th edition.
Wowzers, Tzeentch evidently was pissed at that particular group of TSons...
Turn 3 felt like when I rolled for max shots against a stealth suit unit with a Vindicator, then rolled eight misses.
I think it would be cool if you can show the spread sheets at some point, maybe when their fighting another unit that shows the difference in stats and luck
If Play on has taught me anything its that no one hates the TSons more than Tzeentch, those rolls were painful
I’ve got a guard gameplay question. On multiple occasions we saw Nick giving his Dorn “Take Aim.” I assume this is from the tank commander but if so, then how did the tank commander himself get the order too? Do the officer and other model both get the order?
He’s giving the order to the vanquisher. It’s got an enhancement to give two orders. He’s not giving it to himself.
@@PlayOnTabletop very cool, thank you
Whoever chose the music for this episode: keep it up!
Love how the kriegsman are painted
23:23 That’s some ‘Tzeench says no’ shit lmao
Kudos for the production on this video, the music was so good!
Note to Carl: Please PLEASE get new dice. Yours are clearly not favored by Tzeentch.
They forced me to use their dice! Wait a second....
@@cvtuttle - Just as planned! Wait, no.
I thought you played well, but your dice really hated you. Like, a lot.
im so happy i have 3 hobby hero's Nick Froese and Nick Gralewicz S02E03 was the first BR i watched after how to play WH40k 9th ed and i fell in love with the hobby and my 3ed was a buddy out in Guam name Ryan he was my first opponent for 40k and he showed me how to play. he made ech round a learning experience not by stopping the game or criticize my moves but answering any question as i needed to ask he didn't stomp me in to the ground but he didn't baby me nether and he was willing to play a weird point cap i think it was 820 at the time the command edition plus 1 10 man tactical marine plus one 5 man devastator marine and an understrength assault intercessor group.
It’s a really good thing that his horses get good mileage in these games, they literally cost more than an elder titan
I feel so dirty.....so unclean....but I am rooting for the Tzeentch army here.... 😁😁😆😆
Are we sure the Thousand Sons weren't playing with loaded dice?
I'm a guard stan, and I felt bad for Carl. Tzeentch did not want him winning.
It's nice to know I'm not the only thousand sons player who's suffering from garbage roll syndrome.
We should form a club.
Well that story of this match is that is largely what you get for following Tzeentch.
send Carl's dice into the warp haha
I feel for you, my dice are always so bad.
Sending virtual hugs
For Carl!!
infinite 1-3 for Thousands....Tzeench whyyyyy
Best. Game. Yet. That dice luck was so hilarious
It hurt my soul
Still hoping for a 4 way Chaos battle, TS vs WE vs DG vs EC.
The real Twist of Fate here is that Tzeentch decided to troll Ahriman (again).
Why did he take it on the pink horrors kill the blues = brimstone pass a leadership test bring back d3 pinks lol
Sonofa....
nick you just outdone yourself XD good game both of you!
Where’s my Death Korps gang at?
For Krieg and Emperor!
“Some Atillan rough riders” *confused has mask noises* 😂
cool game and nice sons list man
Did they forget Nick's Fight Phase in Round 4?
I'm a big time Tzeentch fan so I absolutely LOVE seeing a variety of T-sons n daemons in this faceoff
Thanks - I tried to bring a very thematic and expansive list :)
That is some of the worst luck I've ever seen for Thousand Sons. Homie missed a 4" charge.
I'm used to it.
Curse you Tzeentch, how could the changer of ways do this to us!
