As a black templar player, I can confirm that you can NOT trap the Black Templars. I was playing against a Thousand Sons player, and he deep striked terminators and sever smaller units behind my lines. My templars simply formed a circle in the middle of the map.... And charged. His warlord, and half of his army was wiped out in one turn of shooting, charging and melee. He was so appalled and astonished with how well the Black Templars worked in counter assaults, that he actually surrendered.

Not counting the unaugmented backup troops they keep on cleansed plantes. Also a fun fact that isn´t mentioned in the video, the Black Templar may defy the Codex Astartes, but they don´t break it´s rules. They use a Loophole that states, that a Chapter can surpass the 1000 Marine-mark in the case of a great crusade, to counter the loses. The "Eternal Crusade" isn´t just a saying, it´s a middle finger in the Ministorums face, because they can´t do a thing against the Templars for defying the Codex Astartes.

Back during 3rd addition I was a mere boy with aspirations of getting into the hobby. My parents one Christmas bought me the rule book and several models. I wanted to play xenos scum and my little brother wanted to be space marines. He attempted to paint them like the Black Templars. I’ll never forget the picture in the rule book. Thousands of angry stabby boys doing the Emperor’s work. Now that I am a grown man and my little bro passed away I feel like I can remember him through the Black Templars. Rogal Dorn was the name of my character in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Running that garage, doing those runs, honking that horn -- and the avatar picture from the game's setup was priceless, too, with the white hair except a lot messier, and the poor guy had this wide-eyed, haunted stare by sheer chance that actually sold how it could really be Rogal -- and I like to imagine even now, though I haven't touched that game in a while, that someway/somehow that's where he's actually been hiding this whole time: not anywhere in the Imperium, but through the Black Library and into another franchise about trucking simulation. Oh, yeah, and you know he drove a yellow truck, too. He just couldn't give that part of it up.

My fiancee used to get annoyed when id play 40k vids then she heard ur readings now she watching uv vids with me and getting into the lore. The pitch and Timbre of your voice and your own obvious emotional investment in your readings gets her emotionally invested in hearing the lore

Space marine initiates usually go from Scout to devastator to assault to tactical, according to the codex astartes, not starting as tactical marines. They earn battleline experience as devastators First, where they first observe and then fight the enemy from a distance, then they experience the bloody swirl of melee, before they can be expected to perform as level headed and flexible tactical marines under the tutelage of the company's best Sergeants. It seems to me that Krieg would be a gold mine to recruit from. They're already the most fiercely loyal imperial guards, their default speed is charging, they have wicked close-quarters combat skills if they don't kill themselves first, they have cloning tech so who even cares if they do and who the hell wouldn't want to see a squad of adeptus horsestartes Death Riders.
I have not chosen a chapter yet but I keep coming back to the Black Templars and this is hands down the best explanation of the lore and spirit of this amazing chapter. ♥️

As a Guard player, these are the only Astartes that I respect! They have given my lines of guardsmen a good thrashing after they closed with blades drawn! Now, because of them, I make sure my Sergeants and lieutenants are armed with power swords.

There was a perfect moment in your intro. I don't use the word lightly, and it goes beyond the monthly use of "epic" I gladly bestow upon this video. Bell tolls on 0:06, 0:10, skipping to 0:21, skipping to 0:33 Establishes the moment with the toll of the bell on the word faith. 0:40 The payoff comes with, "and they are *thus*" on screen *THE BLACK TEMPLARS* and the crack of thunder. Fucking flawless execution. The irregular cadence of the bell arriving on the missed third beat has the audience waiting for the familiar, and we instead get ":14 Know :15 Of :16 Us?" as if it's our act of questioning that disrupts the consistency, and we're left waiting for the answer. "Who :20 We :21 Are."

got goosebumps during the whole video. I'm building my own full crusade (6-7k points) to play Apocalypse with my friends (T'au, Nids, Eldar, Heretics) and I'm 10/10 enjoying the feel of the frontal charge

Just recently got into it this year. Black Templars is my starting army, and I love learning about them.

@@Marinealver But the Black Templar are the only Chapter/Legion who openly defy the Codex and are one united chapter with way over 1000 marines. Not counting the unaugmented backup troops they keep on cleansed plantes.
Also a fun fact that isn´t mentioned in the video, the Black Templar may defy the Codex Astartes, but they don´t break it´s rules. They use a Loophole that states, that a Chapter can surpass the 1000 Marine-mark in the case of a great crusade, to counter the loses. The "Eternal Crusade" isn´t just a saying, it´s a middle finger in the Ministorums face, because they can´t do a thing against the Templars for defying the Codex Astartes.

Back during 3rd addition I was a mere boy with aspirations of getting into the hobby. My parents one Christmas bought me the rule book and several models. I wanted to play xenos scum and my little brother wanted to be space marines. He attempted to paint them like the Black Templars. I’ll never forget the picture in the rule book. Thousands of angry stabby boys doing the Emperor’s work. Now that I am a grown man and my little bro passed away I feel like I can remember him through the Black Templars. For I must serve a penitence crusade for thinking xenos were cool:). In all reality Baldamort this is my favorite video of yours. Long time fan first time commentator. Keep up the good work.

The Black Templars were the first army i played in 40k back in 3rd edition when they were a simple mention in the Armageddon codex!
Rogal Dorn was the name of my character in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Running that garage, doing those runs, honking that horn -- and the avatar picture from the game's setup was priceless, too, with the white hair except a lot messier, and the poor guy had this wide-eyed, haunted stare by sheer chance that actually sold how it could really be Rogal -- and I like to imagine even now, though I haven't touched that game in a while, that someway/somehow that's where he's actually been hiding this whole time: not anywhere in the Imperium, but through the Black Library and into another franchise about trucking simulation.
Oh, yeah, and you know he drove a yellow truck, too. He just couldn't give that part of it up.
That is sooo cool. But hopefully we won;t have to wait 3 decades for Rogal return. I can't wait myself. :)

Astartes only 'Fear' Failure, Not enemies that they can cut down.
Space marine initiates usually go from Scout to devastator to assault to tactical, according to the codex astartes, not starting as tactical marines.
They earn battleline experience as devastators First, where they first observe and then fight the enemy from a distance, then they experience the bloody swirl of melee, before they can be expected to perform as level headed and flexible tactical marines under the tutelage of the company's best Sergeants.

It seems to me that Krieg would be a gold mine to recruit from. They're already the most fiercely loyal imperial guards, their default speed is charging, they have wicked close-quarters combat skills if they don't kill themselves first, they have cloning tech so who even cares if they do and who the hell wouldn't want to see a squad of adeptus horsestartes Death Riders.
Fun fact: for the same reason they like the gray knights, black templars also really like navigators and astropaths

Thank you brother. Templars are an amazing army if you are a narrative player. But rules change and, for me, its the feel, the legend that makes an army a labour of love. Not the stats. But do try a few games out with friends or at your local club before you purchase anything. If you intend to play - make it an army you can gel with? Only a thought, brother. Only a thought.

As a Guard player, these are the only Astartes that I respect! They have given my lines of guardsmen a good thrashing after they closed with blades drawn! Now, because of them, I make sure my Sergeants and lieutenants are armed with power swords.

0:40 The payoff comes with, "and they are *thus*" on screen *THE BLACK TEMPLARS* and the crack of thunder.
Fucking flawless execution. The irregular cadence of the bell arriving on the missed third beat has the audience waiting for the familiar, and we instead get ":14 Know :15 Of :16 Us?" as if it's our act of questioning that disrupts the consistency, and we're left waiting for the answer. "Who :20 We :21 Are."

I do write the introduction stories. But fast and furious. It comes from GMing for so long. No experience really. Just doing my best for people and trying new things out. I’m sure my lucky streak will fail at some point. Dreading it in fact. But let’s just enjoy the good times while they roll. ;).
