Why does he say shit like "i hate getting tricked" lol? He said with the star wars movies as well, its like he thinks when people recommend him stuff that he doesn't like they always have some malicious ulterior motive, and are "tricking" him. Whats that about lmao
I think it’s more about how in the past he’s ignored his instincts about whether or not something looked good to him because of the reputation around it. According to him he’s never been interested in Star Wars or thought it looked good, but felt obligated to watch them because they’re super popular. With this movie, I’m guessing he was considering being charitable and pushing through until it “got good” because it’s generally considered an amazing comedy but decided to go with his gut and call it off
i think its because there are a lot of times when someone sends him a youtube video to watch and hes like "why did you send me this" so now his mind is warped thinking hes getting tricked to watch something all the time
@@plasmasnake4774 "I’m guessing he was considering being charitable and pushing through until it “got good” because it’s generally considered an amazing comedy but decided to go with his gut and call it off" Yeah this is what I assumed he meant by this. I doubt he seriously assumes the people making the film or whoever might have suggested it to him were deliberately trying to waste his time. But I do think his mind was developing the thought that he was still watching in hopes that the pay off would actually good, and I also think his mind was starting to remember similar experiences where it didn't pay off. For a more controversial take of mine, this was how I felt when I watched Zodiac. I already wasn't that into the first 30 minutes, but since all the killings ended by that point and Mark Ruffalo was now introduced (and since so many friends of mine liked that movie), I still continued under the assumption that the characters would be compelling enough trying (and failing) to find the killer. But I didn't get anything out of the characters for the rest of the film (for various reasons), so it felt like a waste of time and that I tricked myself. Even more so for me because I rewatched it 3 months later to see if I was too harsh and missed something and felt the exact same way.

Adam is crazy uncharitable. He always whines about an imaginary critic yelling “you just wanted to hate it”, but it’s clear most of it is just him projecting to pre-emptively cover for his laziness.
