It's the best SW ever because it's not tonally inconsistent hero's journey adventure fairy tale action fantasy but dystopian action spy thriller. Kind of the GoT (S 1-4) of SW
@@EmptyCup Yes although that seems contradictory, that's what I mean. It's the best SW for me not because of being the best iteration of what the OT was, but because it's different in genre and tone, finally a breath of fresh air. SW never really was my thing because of the discrepancy between the extensive threat the empire should represent and the many undermining, light hearted, comedy moments. ESB and RO are the least guilty of that because they take the threat seriously and that's also a big reason why ESB is considered the best one. Andor does that too and even more consequent than ESB and RO. So it's more like how I always wanted Star Wars to be. I also don't think it's a masterpiece, I'm just very happy that there finally also is a SW for me
Honestly I like Adam more after seeing this. For some reason I always had this thought of him as the type to say "no you can't disagree with me all my opinions are 100% true and objective" but now I realize that isn't true. Him saying it's fine to give a movie a 10 only because you "loved it" and giving it a 1 for equally vague reasons is also fine is something people usually wouldn't be willing to say.
Star Wars has only had 2 out of, what, 12 movies that almost everyone can say are at least “good” movies. They tried 12 times and everyone only can unanimously agree that the first 2 are at least decent. The fact that there is still such an intense, toxic fanbase to this day over something that peaked all the way back in the 80s and it inspired a lot of studios to make these lazy, formulaic blockbuster movies to cash in on the same type of success, it’s fucking insane! Legit, putting his anger aside for the entire franchise, he only thinks the best Star Wars movies are 5 or 6 out of 10, of course he he hates Star Wars! Especially when almost everyone keeps coaxing him to engage with the franchise over and over again. 1/10 is valid as shit! Moral of the story: number rankings don’t matter. Actual words do.
I find even the 2nd movie overrated. It would be nothing without the build-up/nostalgia from the 1st. Also Lucas himself didn't direct it so he implied he didn't give a shit about it.
@@AnoNymous-dh2sv It isn't just overrated nostalgia from the first movie; it's praised for its deeper character development and complex storylines. Lucas didn't direct it, but he was still heavily involved, indicating he did care about the film.
@@TGWNN. It's still not a 10/10 movie to me. I find it extremely overrated when people call it a masterpiece; I'm extremely interested in sci-fi and fantasy and have seen almost everything considered above "6/10"; this is definitely not "unimprovable". And it's subjective anyway so nobody can force me to say it's 10/10.
@@AnoNymous-dh2sv Yeah of course! you're entitled to your own opinion. I believe it's as close to perfect as perfect can be. and for the toxic fanbase, that's mostly due to how Disney has been treating the franchise, kinda like lion king 2019 for example, a stupid cheap sellout.
the best thing you can do for yourself is to give up on truly caring about large multimedia franchises. you can enjoy them for the characters and memories, even watch the new show if it really piques your interest but throw away the idea that any of it needs to be cohesive or even entirely interconnected.
I think its okay for him to hate it but instead of rating the movies on their own merits, he’s giving them all 1/10 as an act of 'defiance' which is a biiiiiiiiiiit cringe. If my friend did that for a franchise id call them an idiot. Dont dislike him for it or anything though who cares.
That's the problem, though. He doesn't dislike the movies themselves as much as he dislikes the fanbase. And we don't usually associate the fanbase as a legitimate aspect of the movie when trying to grade a movie fairly. Since 2015 I've been loathing the people who unironically enjoy The Force Awakens, but I've never let that influence my opinion on the movie itself. I would never give The Force Awakens a 1/10 just because I think its fans have zero taste. Edit: It's probably a 4/10 or 5/10 for me, in case you were wondering.

i get your point but if your talking about the movies that came out in the past few years its fair to compare its direction to star wars, even if the source material came out prior. The comparisons to the OG trilogy ends at space, desert, and maybe spice tho its never really a thing in the ogs and instead something made by fan fic writers down the line. @@YMS my initial comment was probably a bit too harsh. I do agree you didn't say it was the only reason. I think I get that your point is that you shouldn't have to rate something you don't like positively because of the culture around it and I completely understand that.
You know what? I disagree but I get where he's coming from. There's definitely been pieces that got really popular, and many people told me to read, and I didn't end up liking. Being pressured into watching something just cuz it's in the current conversation sucks when you end up not liking it or having anything to say about it. Especially for something as milktose, fior-di-latte as star wars.
I think the amount of time Star Wars has been so consistently popular is also a contributing factor to this. Usually when something gets so big to the point where everyone is recommending it, that hype usually dies down within about a decade or two and they stop bringing it up. Star Wars is different in the way that it never really went away. People still will show up on streams like this and talk about Star Wars. If you are someone who doesn't like Star Wars, you are pretty much doomed to spend your entire life surrounded by people who will never stop talking about it.
I can’t fathom anyone who doesn’t care to watch anything else besides big budget, mainstream, cookie cutter schlock like Marvel and Star Wars films and shows. @carter_lovejoy the worst part is that these idiots who only watch the big budget, mainstream movies are the same people who whine about how "there's no more good movies any more. Now they're all woke". Honestly, these people don't deserve good movies. If they're not willing to watch movies outside their comfort zone, screw 'em
Honestly yeah. I am of the opinion that if you like big budget movies like that, you should still experiment with different types of film too. Like I still like Marvel and SOME start wars movies but it's not all I watch. Having a good media diet is essential and I love experimental indie cinema as well. I think everything has different value, depending on the viewer and their personal experiences.
I think its fair for him to have this perspective but Andor is genuinely the best Star Wars thing and stands far above everything else in the franchise.
Honestly he thinks most decent media boring. It's not his type of thing tho, and just having it be attached to the star wars brand will just sour it more for him. YMS' Joker moment Admittedly, hands down my personal favorite Star Wars adjacent material is RLM's Best of the Worst: The Star Wars Holiday Special & The Mr. Plinkett's Prequel Reviews (stone cold classics) rather then the actual movies. Star Wars left me ambivalent from the get go & Rogue One is the one & only time where I briefly felt asleep during the theater screening. At least George Lucas doesn't have a stick up his arse against trans women.
As someone who couldn't escape the cultural phenomena during my pipsqueak days, completely echo your sentiment.
From the get go, school settings & goober characters were a no-no for me.
@@sjoerddondersteen1337 Saaaaaame. I was a voracious reader as a kid but I couldn’t finish one of those books because they were so simplistic in their writing and awkwardly structured as stories, like bad Agatha Christie drizzled with fairy tale stuff and “school story” tropes. Yet I ameliorated and hid those opinions for years because “HARRY POTTER IS GETTING KIDS TO READ. WHAT, DO YOU HATE LITERACY?!”
"name one star wars movie I liked"
HOW THE FUCK WOULD WE KNOW
this was me and my bf with harry potter lmao
can't blame him honestly
This video is literally me with Pokémon. Even as a kid I couldn’t get into the series or the games
Andor is well above the normal star wars slop, but if you don't enjoy the franchise there's no reason to watch it
There’s no reason to talk about it
It's the best SW ever because it's not tonally inconsistent hero's journey adventure fairy tale action fantasy but dystopian action spy thriller. Kind of the GoT (S 1-4) of SW
@@auriculus3058 It's the best Star Wars because it's not like Star Wars? That seems convoluted to me.
Andor is good, but it's not that good.
@@EmptyCup
Yes although that seems contradictory, that's what I mean.
And to top it off, he’s drunk so…
I find even the 2nd movie overrated.
It's okay to like/dislike a movie.
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
That's the problem, though. He doesn't dislike the movies themselves as much as he dislikes the fanbase. And we don't usually associate the fanbase as a legitimate aspect of the movie when trying to grade a movie fairly. Since 2015 I've been loathing the people who unironically enjoy The Force Awakens, but I've never let that influence my opinion on the movie itself. I would never give The Force Awakens a 1/10 just because I think its fans have zero taste.
Edit: It's probably a 4/10 or 5/10 for me, in case you were wondering.
The only good Star Wars movie is Spaceballs
Adam referring to Dune as a 'star wars type movie' on Sardonicast has been causing me to lose sleep a little
It's like saying Se7en is a 'The Batman' type movie
Dune was an inspiration for SW…
@@ringbearer1420terrible point. Madame Web (2024) director S.J. Clarkson has cited several films as visual inspiration for the movie, including 2046 and In the Mood for Love by Wong Kar-wai, and Don't Look Now by Nicholas Roeg. Dakota Johnson, who stars in the film, also cites Edge of Tomorrow by Tom Cruise
i get your point but if your talking about the movies that came out in the past few years its fair to compare its direction to star wars, even if the source material came out prior. The comparisons to the OG trilogy ends at space, desert, and maybe spice tho its never really a thing in the ogs and instead something made by fan fic writers down the line. To say Anakin's arc is anything like Paul's is just ignorance of simple story telling.
@@ringbearer1420 Exactly, Star Wars is a Dune-type-movie
Star Wars is tasty junk food with the asterisk *junk food that revolutionized junk food!*

I don't care about the moving down the ratings of the Star Wars movies to 1s but the comment that people only give 1920s movies 10s for what they inspired seems shortsighted. I think people just genuinely like 1920s films
Some of them silent comedy Charlie Chaplin movies had genuinely good visual gags.
Feel free to listen to the video again and fix your comment because "people ONLY give 1920s movies 10s because _____" is not at all what I said.
At least we can all agree that Rise of Skywalker sucked.
Yep. Very much so. Idk if I would ever revisit that pile of shit at any point in my life.
You are morons
God the meltdown on the YMS subreddit was so funny. People were acting like he was defending Andrew Tate or something like that
Starwars dorks and destiny stans are fuming.
Fuck star wars. (It's really not that serious, who cares lol).
There was no meltdown though.
Absolutely right, the fact people put them in the same conversation as LOTR from a film making perspective has always baffled me.
1/10 for all the films? Holy based
Unhinged rant 😂😂
Adam woke up and canalize violence against Star Wars.
Arin Hanson called, he wants his bit back.
well as long as he gives last jedi a 1...
Best YMS Review/Rant/Video ever
May the 4th came early
What did Star Wars do to him.
gaped his crops and pillaged his lion husband
Not even a furry can appreciate the wookies.. 😅
Ewoks- The Caravan of Courage is the best. 10/10.
(Genuine opinion)
The TikTok kids who say the prequels are amazing would have a meltdown hearing this 😂
Ah so that's why he rated all the Star Wars movies 1/10 on IMDB.
Very funny how he asks chat to tell him something from star wars HE likes, though tbf he was super drunk
My thoughts exactly about the MCU.

6:21 I was honestly surprised he didn’t pause stream and bust out the Joker make up and started ranting about society and star wars lol
Was looking for this rant after missing the BvS watch-along. Thanks.
Found an old vhs collection of the originals in my garage and made a whole day out of it and I got bored and fell asleep half into a new hope tbf
Now we should have the same mindset for superhero movies. Let’s be done with all ts
"it's a sad state of reality that they're considered necessary films to watch" is such a brutal line that I agree with completely
Maybe not in terms of overall quality, but in terms of impact on culture the first 3 absolutely.
@@3lancerofficialmaybe871 shut the hell up absolutely not
Dude, star wars!
I have a supervisor at my job that’s a huge Star Wars fan. He said The Lighthouse was boring. Adum is not wrong
I can’t fathom anyone who doesn’t care to watch anything else besides big budget, mainstream, cookie cutter schlock like Marvel and Star Wars films and shows. I get people have their standards and that art is subjective, but how can someone not at least give something a shot if they think indie, arthouse and foreign films are all “pretentious and boring”?
This is what happens when you let the fans get to you lol.
Ah I see. He’s more of a Star Trek fan
Star Wars did a lot of good for the movie industry. But also bad.
Mostly bad.
I think its fair for him to have this perspective but Andor is genuinely the best Star Wars thing and stands far above everything else in the franchise.
I agree but Adum would still be mostly bored by it probably.
Kotor 2. He would probably say it's too boring or something, because it's not as engaging as Cache.
It could be the greatest thing ever made but at this point it would be a waste of time for him to watch it
Honestly he thinks most decent media boring. It's not his type of thing tho, and just having it be attached to the star wars brand will just sour it more for him. I agree he should ignore most star wars stuff, I like some of them but if they're not his type of thing then he's not going to change his mind. He doesn't strike me as that type.
adum's gonna look real stupid when "Synechdoche 2: This time there's Yoda in it" drops
I’m not a big Star Wars fan either. I like the original trilogy well enough, I won’t say no to watching them, but something about them doesn’t grab me. It’s kind of the same with Zelda. I respect it, can acknowledge the quality, but it’s not for me
This is honestly peak. I hope he makes a 5 hour video destory *all* of star wars in the future.
star wars movies are the worst thing since my son
"I feel tricked" honestly I feel the same when people call a film so bad it's good. I get a couple chuckles but I'm usually bored for most of it. Twitter memes about bad films are enough for me
YMS' Joker moment
Admittedly, hands down my personal favorite Star Wars adjacent material is RLM's Best of the Worst: The Star Wars Holiday Special & The Mr. Plinkett's Prequel Reviews (stone cold classics) rather then the actual movies.
Star Wars left me ambivalent from the get go & Rogue One is the one & only time where I briefly felt asleep during the theater screening. A friend of mine picking up on that was the reason why I wasn't invited for the screening of Episode VIII with the homies back then (in retrospect understandable from their end, but sure as hell dodged a bullet with that one).
