Dr. Bri, I am from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 we call this move, Wining (wine-ing). We do it all the time, from little kids to old ppl, it is part of our dance culture. We have a diversity of ethnicities in our country and in the Caribbean as a whole. We have descendants from the Indigenous People, Africa, India, China and other parts of Asia, the Middle East and Europe, mainly England, Spain, France, Denmark, Portugal, Germany to a lesser extent. So I am well acquainted with this move.
Thank you for sharing this cultural perspective! It's fascinating how various forms of dance and movement are deeply ingrained in different cultures around the world. Dancing is not only a form of self-expression but also a way of connecting with one's heritage and community. It's beautiful to hear how this move is a part of your culture and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Diverse cultural backgrounds enrich our lives with unique traditions and experiences.
Definitely starting with this today, had an accident 2years ago, brought so much pain to my lower back and waist..im certain this exercise will help as a relief from the pain and give a healthy pelvic floor too
Consistency and patience are key when working on improving your pelvic floor health and addressing pain. Remember that progress may be gradual, but with dedication, you can experience improvements in your overall well-being.
The hands and knees and counter isn’t painful. In fact, with motion is lotion and small not large circles, it helps release my lower back and also feels like it’s loosening up the intestines, too. Thanks.
Cute video, it sounds good to me thanks. I have been doing pelvic floor exercises for months now with your lift program. It has helped with stage 2 prolapse. At the end of the day is when I can feel like I need a rest with legs up but things are better.👍🙂
That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!! I'm so happy to hear that you're noticing a difference! Hips-up/legs-up at the end of the day is something I do almost every day, too :) I think it's a great practice not just for people with prolapse, but honestly, anyone can benefit from taking that time for self-care.
The explanation, with the model of the pelvis, that the pelvic floor muscles are connected to the hips and lower back now finally makes me understand some of the problems I am having in one side of my body. OB/Gyn's (a lot of them dudes here) really need to understand this better so they do less harm.
Wowzers! I just tried this and I feel warmth in my tailbone area!! Is that normal?? I normally do 45 mins of rowing everyday and this feels like its quite a bit more for the lower area!!
That's fantastic! Feeling warmth in the tailbone area after trying the exercise can be normal and indicates increased blood flow to those muscles. It's great that you're exploring new movements, but remember to listen to your body and take it gradually. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to seek advice from a healthcare professional or fitness trainer. Keep up the good work 😊 ~ Leila from Vibrant Support

Hi Bri.Can u tell me if it’s okay to do this exercise when you are already doing the kegal exercises daily. If i do both .Is it gonna be too much for my pelvic floor muscles?
Hi Dr Bri..Thank You so much for this absolutely amazing exercise move ...Wow love it 🙏💞 Can U please also help me with getting rid of my lower belly fat 🙏🙏🙏💕
There is no magic exercise that can target the lower belly fat only. To reduce lower belly fat, focus on a combination of a calorie-controlled diet, cardiovascular exercise, and strength training that targets all major muscle groups, while managing stress and prioritizing quality sleep. ~Vibrant Support
Also (1)Belly fat in general can be linked to cortisol which is greatly affected by a. stress, and b. Too much blood sugar. . . (2 a tight ilio-psoas can make you look like you have a tummy / larger tummy because of a curvature in your lower back which can be fixed. (3) I saw something interesting about contracting the lower abdomen three times for three seconds each hour for women during / after pregnancy and actually saw a big difference in flattening my lower tummy after a couple days of doing it...
I find it very useful, only you didn't mention how many circles, let's say from 5 to 100, how many each side? I had an operation, my prostate was removed and this exercise I think could help me to improve my retention. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
Hi there! 👋 I'm glad you found the exercise helpful and think it could improve your retention after your prostate surgery. 🙌 As for the number of circles, it's best to start small and gradually increase as you build strength and comfort. 💪 I'd recommend beginning with 10 circles in each direction and seeing how your body responds. You can always add more as you progress, but the key is to listen to your body and stop if you experience any pain or discomfort. Wishing you a smooth and successful recovery! 😊✨

Do you have suggestions for perineal descent. I have severe descent and rectocele and I've been told by colorectal doctor that the perineal descent is what's making it hard to empty rectum. Have to push up on perineum, and then push to empty.
Thank you for the information & showing examples… I teach Yoga & this is a question that I get a lot as well. Also, would hula hooping create this same effect as well? I get my elder ladies hooping, and I think it’s probably good. Just wondering if I am correct to tell people. I tell them it’s for core, but pelvic floor is good for older ladies for sure if I can add that information. We have fun at least. 😆 Thank you again for great videos!
Hula hooping can be a fun and engaging way to strengthen the core, but it's important to be mindful of the potential impact on the pelvic floor, especially for older women. While gentle hooping may be beneficial for some, the repetitive downward pressure and impact could potentially exacerbate pelvic floor issues in others. It's always best to encourage your students to listen to their bodies, start slowly, and stop if they experience any discomfort or symptom flare-ups. Hi Bri.Can u tell me if it’s okay to do this exercise when you are already doing the kegal exercises daily. If i do both .Is it gonna be too much for my pelvic floor muscles?😊
It's common in belly dance, as well. The best part about most of the dances that utilize this, is that they were used to help women be strong for childbirth!
I can move like Shakira in one direction but not the other lol Should I be actively pulling up the pelvic floor muscles in the forward contracted position or do the hip circles help do that by themselves?
This blog post has all the details you need about zipping up, including videos to help: www.vibrantpelvichealth.com/blog/how-to-zip ***The key is to zip up your core muscles really gently. Dr. Bri! Have you ever heard of prolapsed caused or activated by estrogen patches. I have cleaned up my diet and actually was without my estrodial patch for around a week and my prolapse appeared to be gone or fixed. I was able to get my patch back and immediatley noticed the prolapse again. I don't want to be without my estrogen because it helps my mood, but the prolapse seemed to be brought on by this is not easy to bear either . I have been much better eating clean without the patch, besides my moods. Any advice?
I have not heard of prolapse being caused or activated by estrogen patches. Hormonal changes can certainly impact tissue health (and all sorts of other things -- from mood, energy, sleep, and digestion -- that can impact prolapse)... but that specific connection is something I have heard before.

In Tanzania are several traditional dances for this. I can see why this exercise wouldn't work for you, but you might really enjoy this video about core exercises for spinal fusion: th-cam.com/video/XC3mKSg61xk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4K-MU0-FlhyOVLtz Please know that everyone is different, and not all exercises will work for all people. But I hope that some of the info, education, and exercises will be helpful for you.
Thank you so much Dr Bri.♥️🌹👍
Most welcome!
@@vibrantpelvichealth Yes, please have a great weekend.❤️🥀
Hi Dr bri I’ve been battling Cpps for a year and I feel a lot better but this week I’ve had a lot of stress at work and a family member has passed away so my symptoms have flared like crazy will they calm down eventually? I hate flares 😩
I am sorry for your loss. Please. know that flares are temporary, and you will get over them !
Hello @dr.bri's i have a weak bladder after giving birth what exercise do you suggest for me. ? I actually use self catherization and now im going to search an exercise good for me to heal / Fast recovery my bladder
I would recommend seeing a pelvic floor PT, if possible, for individualized advice. Bladder weakness can be due to several reasons (e.g. tension, pressure management problem, etc) The PT can help you get to the root cause of your symptoms ~ Leila
Fantastic exercise!
It really is!
very nice, dr 😍😍😍
Can this help with pelvic floor relief?
If not done properly, these exercises might make your pelvic floor tense up more. ~ Vibrant Support
