    Since Trent has been on camera I been trying to figure out who he reminds me of, and today I get it. He reminds me of cooler version of Radar from M.A.S.H! lol

    The Knob Creek 12 year is allocated here in Alabama. Was available at my local store one month this year and I was able to get one. Had a friend who had been trying to purchase this Knob Creek 12 year for over a year, so I gifted to him. Not sure if I'm gracious or succumbed to a temporary lapse of judgement. Right on spot with the peanut taste in Knob Creek. I've told several friends when visiting my bar that when I wanted to taste roasted peanuts, Knob Creek would deliver. Great show guys!

    I don't care how good it is, my bourbon max is $80, scotch is $100. So the 15 and 18 are out. Great reviews though, this channel is the best for taking suggestions and putting them into videos fast!

      I'm no bourbon expert though I dabble but I am pretty knowledgeable with cigars and it's a similar situation with collectors and more aged tobacco and no there is no cigar worth $100. Saying all that, unless your wealthy and can burn money and not feel it, there's plenty of good bourbon in $30-$75 range.

    Saw two bottles of KC18 batch 2 at a local liquor store in CO for 189.99, which was the first time I’ve seen it for near-MSRP.
    They also had some bottles of KC12 for 69.99.

  • @michaelamling5234
    @michaelamling5234 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I think that the KC 12 was initially a limited release which made it allocated but I believe it is one of the mainstays on their line now.
    Love all the Knob Creek bottles, always good bang for your buck.

    Nice job. Thank you for reviewing such a prestigious Knob Creek grouping. I’m from Dallas and the 18 is a unicorn. Everybody wants it and there is so little of it. Hoping to find a bottle. Just opened a 6 YR single barrel, store pick Rye and it delicious. 51% Rye and 49% corn. It’s honeyed and luscious. Can’t stop drinking it.
    Cheers

    great video! thanks for doing the whole line up! I think KC products are great, to me it's one of those that I think people overlook or don't mention too much when asked their go to bourbons. For me i always pick up the KC120, and store picks of the rye. I don't really see 12 year ever in FL but was lucky to get the 15 year when it hit the shelf briefly.

    Great tasting lineup. Love Knob Creek, one of the best values in American whiskey.
    I still see the 25th Anniversary bottle on shelves here in CA but it’s $400 that’s why lol.
    Haven’t tried the 15 nor 18 yet, I’ll eventually buy the 15 for sure. My fave Knob Creek (so far) is the cask strength rye, both the 127 and 119 proof releases are amazing if you like an aggressive, spicy, bbq rub type of rye. A drop of water tames the heat and pepper and brings out more vanilla. They unfortunately stopped making it though I think. The 12 year would be my next fav.

    Love the review. I was first introduced to KC when it first came out and a buddy of mine was working for Beam. 9year has to be my fave followed by the Rye and 12 year. It really is a great collection that they’ve put together! Cheers!

    Outstanding! Great video! I really like the Knob Creek products. My fave so far is the 12-yr, but I haven't tried the 15-yr or the new 18-yr. I will have to try those. That being said, if I had nothing but the standard 9-yr product, I would be very happy with that. I have always liked its bold flavor.

    I have both the 9 and the 12, and for me, the 12 blows the 9 out of the water.
    It just seems so much more balanced and viscous with wonderful oak and tobacco notes. The ethanol is more subdued as well.

    Knob Creek 9 is without a doubt one of the best whiskeys on the market for $30 bucks. It's great neat. It's great in an old fashioned or on the rocks. And it's readily available. If I could get Eagle Rare consistently for 30 bucks, it'd edge it out but rarely can I get it for $30. Usually 39.99 or more. Eagle Rare is a long-term favorite of mine and there's a lot of memories and nostalgia that go with it, so it's hard to beat but KC9 gets close. I like it more than the 12 year, but I've never had the 15 or 18.

    I'm with you Kurt. One year year later, and I got my first KC 18. That has to be my favorite. I'm also with Trenton on that KC 9, so good! I was sipping with you all and my store pick was so good also but at 120 proof, it's definitely a winner. I guess I need to hunt 12 and 15 now.

  • @foobird02
    @foobird02 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a KC 12 at home and I get more char, leather and tobacco notes in it. I agree with Trent on that one. KC 9 you can drink neat or put into a cocktail and enjoy it. For me. I have to be in the mood for the 12 year.

  • @TheMNbassHunter
    @TheMNbassHunter ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I really enjoy KC 12! So good. It's between that and KC 9 store picks depending on how much proof I want on a particular day. I can't get the 15 or 18 so no idea how those would stack up.

    • @duffman9908
      @duffman9908 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100%. KC 12 right now is my favorite bourbon for the bang for the buck. I have also had some store picks that were incredible but I don't always want to have that high of proof. The KC15 I have had was over oaked and not well balanced. Sadly, I have not had the KC 18 to make a judgement on it.

      @@slbdrinks that's nothing. Same place had Russell's 13 for $200, Russell's single rickhouse for $400. Those went in 15 minutes at 0900 earlier today. Guys who work an 8-5 never had a chance.
      I went into another store and bought a bottle of Four Gate Perry Perry at SRP, the proprietor decided to covertly offer me Blanton's then. I had no relationship with them. When he rung it up, it was $175. I refused it.

    Looking forward to 18 dropping in SoCal. After having the 2022 Elijah 18 release (awesome!) I’m really liking heavy oak and tobacco notes which made me appreciate KC12 more. KC15 is a weird outlier that has little oak and lots of citrus.

    I bought the 15 year Knobb Creek bourbon last year for $150 at the PA state store in Clark Summit PA. I opened it up for Christmas last year and the flavors were intense. So much so that I didn't touch it until recently. The bottle has opened up so much. The peanut flavor is large and it is delicious. Letting it sit for a year was a good decision.

    I really enjoy most of the KC offerings and have most in my cabinet. The KC 12 and the SiB SP’s are a couple that are I go to often. With that being said the KC18 is in a completely different stratosphere. It is a beautiful caramel, vanilla and sweet charred oak flavor bomb. You will see this on most reviews top whiskey of the year lists. It is absolutely a buy if you can find it.

    Another great review.. I actually saw the 18 on the shelf today for 400$.. hard no!! But I'd sure like to try it.. I have a single barrel select store pick from 2021 that is simply out of this world...smells like a payday bar covered in toasted marshmallows.. She's my go to for my end of the night short pour slow sipper. Their Rye is no slouch either.. I'd put it up against Pikesville and Russel's. And Trenton agreed on the comment on the 25th anniversary.. there's a bottle languishing on my local liquor store shelf for 200$. Once again well done fellas.. Your not alone. A few others have told me the same concerning the 9.

    1 month ago I was able to walk into a store and pay retail for KC18. As of now, 300 min. I think the word is out on it. I think if more get released the price will quickly return to msrp, just like the 15 year. All that said, KC18 is great, sitting behind only a KC store pick in terms of its place in the lineup for me.
    p.s. I think you need to dial in the focus on your camera, the bottles in the back are clearer to me than the ones on the bench top. Didn't bother too much, but just figured you'd appreciate the feedback.

      Always appreciate good info! I will let Trent know. He was always behind the camera before so might need a bit more prep time before filming.

    Just saw it today. KC18 priced at $275 in Charleston, SC. After tax, it was a hair under $300.

    Just scored a bottle for MSRP about an hour ago. Came straight here to check the reviews.

    I've seen the KC15 for $120. I wonder if it's worth that bump over KC12? I do enjoy seeing you taste and compare the entire lineup. We so rarely see the older offerings where I live but it's still fun to learn about them.

      My preference would be the 12 over the 15 but that’s just me.

    I love your videos. For me I’ll take more spicy than overly sweet. It’s the same with cigars for me. Keep up the great work!

    I haven’t seen the 18 but I love the 12 yr and the 9 yr is a staple in my house.

    I discount any palate that would put KC12 in last place. It's so good!
    Doesnt like pie, peanuts, or KC12?
    Don't think I will trust Trent's opinion in future videos. 😆

      Agreed. That KC 9 over 12 is madness. Not liking pie is the nail in the coffin.

      He loved it on the blind tasting if I remember correctly. So even though we go in to be honest in our heads there's pre-made biases.

    I love knob 12. Close second is 9 120proof. Haven’t had 15 or 18.
    I also like their rye and I hope I can find a rye cask strength.

    I enjoyed the KC 18 & 12 (exception being the old ultra aged store picks) but that the direction I went. I’m just outside of Louisville & the KC 18 went pretty quick. Not crazy fast like a lot of similar big releases but at a steady pace. I got mine for $180 & only a few places have the KC 18 in this area but the bottle or two they have are marked up to $290-300.

    The 15 year old knob creek I think was batch specific about being over oaked. The bottle I purchased was completely over oaked. While other reviews stated less harsh reviews. 🤷‍♂️
