      If you want some history around the tradition of drinking around the world, it wasn't started by the patrons, it was started by animators and imagineers and became popular when the 3d department started to have problem, with 3d coming in. I was lucky enough to become friends with many of those original group when i first worked for the mouse as an actor, most of them are gruff old turds now, but they were pretty fun. One of them even went out of their to help me learn to draw. I'm a smaller person, so i never made it very far, usually i just got one of those hollowed out pineapple drinks and slowly nursed that. I'm a "girl drink" drunk.

    The swimming pool note isn't the cocktail, it's the ice! Disney doesn't filter their water, even for fancy cocktails at fancy bars. All the ice is made with good ol' Florida Tap Water, which is approximately 50% chlorine. PS: The move in the UK is the Pimms Cup.

    The thing to realize about Baijiu is that the one that's been featured on this show before - Kinmen Kaoling - is not exactly the nice stuff. It is drank in Taiwan as a sort of rite-of-passage thing. Like drinking Everclear at a frat party. It is also the cheapest alcohol/price ratio you can get in Taiwan.
    There's plenty of baijiu that taste way nicer. There might also be some that taste worse.

      I feel like that's what 'shochu' is in Japan. You can find gallons/liters of the stuff...I'm talking a massive plastic container of pure alcohol, for about 10-15 USD. It's basically jet fuel though and it's what they use for 90% of cocktails here (with the exception of higher class bars). Japanese cocktails are generally disappointing though as most are simply a little syrup, a little shochu, and a lot of tonic/soda water. Easy to drink but very unimpressive.

      @@Default78334 Yeah I'm from the UK and I've only ever had Pimm's with the fizzy kind of lemonade. Putting a brand name in there makes it sound tacky but the US doesn't have a generic term so the options are limited.
      Also iirc Sprite is specifically lemon and lime; a lot of generic British lemonade is *just* Vaguely Lemon Flavoured. No lime.
      (My go-to drink is Amaretto and lemonade, and a lot of branded lemonades are just *too* lemon-forward for it to work properly. Sometimes you *need* the cheap non-branded supermarket stuff.)

    We're decently big on cocktails here in Norway. Drinking out is just expensive, so we mostly stick to a handful of classics that we make at home. Mainly gin tonic, Irish coffee, sangria, and whatever the fad of the year is for social media addicts.
    But some distinctly Norwegian cocktails, which are pretty damn good, are:
    Oslo Mule
    Fjellbekk (Mountain Stream)
    Sure Sivert
    Last one might be difficult to find a recipe in English, so:
    2 cl vodka
    2 cl Pisang Ambon
    2 cl sour mix
    1 cl cream
    Shake, strain into a highball glass with ice, and top with Sprite.

    • @themather1
      @themather1 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @DangerSquiggles It doesn't. I'm no expert, but I think it's the sugar in the sour mix and Pisang Ambon that keeps it from being acidic enough to curdle the cream. Either that, or citric acid just isn't that acidic on its own when separated from the rest of the citrus juice.

      @sugarandspice4815 Possibly..? We tend to drink liquor side-by-side with our beer/cider/coctktails here.
      A glass of something refreshing next to a dram of cognac, whiskey, or aquavit, so spirit-heavy cocktails are just less popular because they don't fit the niche.

    If you're looking for more juniper beers outside of Epcot, you want to look for the traditional Scandinavian styles Gotlandsdricka or Sahti. They're uncommon in the States, but some brave craft brewers will make them. They shouldn't be hoppy as the traditional recipes wouldn't include hops and simply use juniper sprigs or berries and other foraged herbs.

    • @hopnationusa4308
      @hopnationusa4308 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@adamwhite2364 Not particularly. The ancient Scandinavian styles are going to be closer to funkier farmhouse ales and lower in ABV, while the Scottish ales are closer to strong ales.
      The scots wouldn't include juniper, and the use of peat in both the germination and brewing processes would add a smokey flavor. The same notes you find in scotch whisky.
      Although both are lower in hop content and character because the climates were bad for growing hops

    1 part Vodka

    Sprite to top.
