      I'm sorry. I'm late.. can i ask your.. *shrug* i mean to ask. Does height matter. And your relation to it. King, i realize you are over 6 foot, like all of us. But say the queen is 5'10 and concubine is 5'8..both under 170 lbs. does the height matter?

      I don't want any electric vehicles for distance i want to drive and carry as much fuel as possible on a truck or jeep or suv. And if you aren't getting the views on the bikes.. know this. Zero motorcycle is single handedly fucking up the market because they arent cheap, have shitty DRM and put Tesla to shame. In all honesty its the ESG garbage that want to chain people to NOT traveling anywhere..
      To be clear, all E-Vehicles *MUST* have a reliable *SELF CHARGING SOLAR CANOPY* to be even remotely viable to consider. Otherwise fossil fuel is still the best option.
      (Edit a solar canopy must be *at worst* shaped like a big umbrella deployable from the vehicle itself. It should be covered with solar panels and charge while riding, ensure there is zero "phone app" software and cellphone, gps, and bluetooth completely optional.)

    I've been riding a Sur Ron some 2 yrs by now and rode 6000+ km already. The only upgrade I did was a 58 sprocket. That's all. If I'm to spend $2000 for other improvements then I'd rather buy a new KTM or something. What I'm trying to say is that I like Sur Ron the way it is besides I keep it in my apartment and I don't think I'd like to keep a KTM next to my bed). Tnx for the review.

    That was an awesome review. Thank you for being as unbiased as possible. As an owner of a 2021 Sur Ron X Black Edition, I was wondering about how the Talaria compares. I've invested close to $5,000. in upgrades to my Sur Ron so far, and the fact that I am only 5'4" convinced me to keep what I got. Besides, iIt's about as much as I can handle. LOL.

    I think the Talaria is the better choice for most people over 5'8. You'd save money of height mods and chain drive swap alone. Most of the functional mods for the Sur Ron are also already compatible or quickly becoming available for the Talaria (suspension, sprockets, controllers, batteries, etc). I went with the Talaria because I felt it was a better structural platform.

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Carlitos R You bring up some great points. The size of the Talaria straight away is a huge benefit. As you say, plenty of bolt-on options to upgrade the Talaria too and many power/battery upgrades coming soon.

    Just came across your video and noticed you mention GoPro camera shutting off unexpectedly. I recently noticed that too on my cameras, however there's a quick fix for it. I think by default, it's set to shut off automatically in 15 minutes. In the menu there is an option to turn that off to "Never". Hope that helps. It's very frustrating if you didn't know that option exist but it does.

    I have wanted a sur ron for a while. Then I seen the sting. bought it. I LOVE it!! Stock gearing SUCKS for anyone over 150 lbs.(off road). In full riding gear i am around 200 lbs. I run a 56 rear and it is a whole new world!! All off road I should say. It wheelies sooo good now. Stock is almost a chore to wheelie. And it still goes over 40mph. Never tested stock vs 56. It feels way faster though. AND more battery life. I have 500 miles on mine now. Great bike for bigger or taller people. Still a small bike.

    Have you heard any specifics on the Talaria Factory fork that are on the EbikeZilla's September delivery schedule. The bikes shipping in August are coming with a FastAce fork. Previous out of stock models were sold with DMN and Manitou. Would appreciate your input on those forks, won't be pushing hard like I used to but once you have good suspension it spoils you. How long did it roughly take for you to reach the 16 mile or 10% battery point. This is making me reconsider getting an electric bike.

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @HowAboutNowDad It roughly took 50 minutes to get to that point. The range really depends on a few factors, one main one being the terrain. I would say this test I did is a good median reference. If you're on a full MX track or wide open road, range/time will be less. If you're on single track or slower technical terrain, range/time will be more.

      The only thing that keeps drawing me back to the Sur Ron is that you can now get it registered in Australia.

    Coming from a KTM 525 EXC and 29" mountain bike back ground, I'm curious how you like the KTM Freeride vs. these much lighter, closer to mountain bike type experience? I see you are riding the SAME trail you took the Sur-ron Storm Bee and Freeride on. I know it is probably a crazy question, but it is nearly impossible to get anyone to rent/test ride any of these. To me, a $4500 Talaria Sting R sounds pretty amazing...Still, I think I'd have about $3k in EBMX 9000 controller and 72V/42Ah in upgrades pretty quick...

    The SurRon frame design is SO much cleaner than the Talaria's box style, looks awful imo.
    I went with the SurRon for the aftermarket parts & community.
    The Talaria should have been "better" but it just made a bunch of trade offs instead, total bummer.

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Ian For sure, I agree the Sur Ron frame design is more aesthetically pleasing. The Talaria frame is noticeably larger and stiffer though, two benefits that I personally value over looks! You're right about the aftermarket parts and community though. Plenty of options to improve the bike and fix some of the ergonomic pain points on the bike. As I said at the end of the video, it's pretty hard to pick a winner because I would modify both bikes to be, as you say, "better". Thanks for the note! 👍

      Pros and cons to both for sure! You can't really go wrong with either but depends how much you want to modify. The 4MF kit with 21"/18" wheels makes the Sur Ron quite a bit bigger and you can get an aftermarket swingarm and peg braces to stiffen it up some... quite a lot of options! The main issue I had with the sur-ron was the throttle response, seemed more like an on/off switch. It was hard to cruise at a steady speed, something I do a lot of in the wide-open spaces. Talaria doesn't have that issue, so that alone makes the switch worth it to me. I installed a Warp9 52t sprocket (you can retain the stock chain guard) and Deity hi-rise bars. Battery bounce sucks and needs a fix.

      @howaboutnowdad4582 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here in Canada the prices listed on the Talaria site are 400$ CAD cheaper. I don't own one, I haven't started the process of purchasing one either. I know it can change once you get to the dealer. But they appear to be less expensive here.

      @Marko Polo Prices fluctuate and my references are where I got these specific bikes from. If I made a list of every dealer's current MSRP, by the time you're watching it, the price will have likely changed again. $4k+ seems a bit steep in my opinion, but I also do not know much about the technology...
    I imagine this is pretty niche when it comes to the type of terrain you're looking to be on, because for the price point you could get a nice Honda crf 250!!

    • @dirkmohrmann8960
      @dirkmohrmann8960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're going to have to do some serious mods if you want to ride it off road at that weight. Main issue will be that the suspension can't handle that weight stock, you'll need at minimum stiffer springs. Too much spring though and you have damping issues. You'll also likely find the power a bit underwhelming, depending on what you're used to, however a larger sprocket will fix that, as a trade off for some speed.
      Another thing would be really raising the handle bars and re-inforcing the pegs.

      @@dirkmohrmann8960 thanks for the info! I just plan on riding it to work and the reason this appeals to me more than just a normal E Bike is simply because it doesn’t have pedals and is solely throttle. Do you think I could get by commuting without changing the suspension?

      @@holdenc2636 It is going to feel small on you, no doubt but if you're just commuting on the road, I think you'd be fine. Just stiffen the preload in the shock and add the max PSI to the fork.
