As a long time dirt and street motorcycle rider, I totally agree with you about the Talaria Sting R being the real winner in this review, with overall performance & maintenance being the primary areas of focus. In my opinion, all of the eBike riders and reviewers are simply too focused on top speed.
@@bennetsmith4686 Talaria just dropped a new controller on their Sting R. It's 10% more than the old sting R controller. It can be identified by the new inscribed title STING R. The older version was titled TALARIA. That said, for the year 2025 Talaria is reclaiming its spot at the top of the hill. But to be honest, how can you even compare a Jack-Shaft to a Gear-Box and be honest with yourself?
Amazing that all 4 of you had the exact same tier order at the end. Says a lot about the bikes that different riders of different skill levels all felt the same. Thank you.
Just ordered a e ride pro ss last week and this was a wonderful technical breakdown of all these bikes. Thanks for putting all the work to help future buyers.

@@kellan_rhodes17 I absolutely love it. I am thinking of updgrading the controller and battery down the road only to get more power. But it's pretty quick out of the box
@@kellan_rhodes17 I bought an MX3 and upgraded mine way past an R. The R is a great starting point and the aftermarket scene is 2nd only to Surron. You guys will have a great time on it. I recommend getting and 18" rear and a 21" front. It really helps with trail riding if that's what you're into.

Great video, thanks! The linkage on my Sting R's was super clunky from the factory. Took me a while to figure out where all the noise was coming from. You can get tighter fitting linkage bolts (with a full shoulder) from the major sellers, or the overkill Titanium variety if you choose. That along with correct torque will fix a lot of the noise on the Sting R. Battery rattle is easy to fix with a small inflatable air jack or even just bubble wrap. Interesting that you lost 2 belts in the test but no issues with the Talaria's gearbox.
One thing that is ALWAYS missing on these reviews...what would work best for TALL adult riders. I'm nearly 6'4" and 210lbs. I have sat on a SurRon, they are simply too small for me. I would love to see an opinion on this from ECR.
Honestly I think for you a stark varg is better. The light weight bikes are good but all around the same size you could go with one that’s larger and get some bigger wheels and handles but in order for the ride to be half decent you would need some upgraded suspension
Talaria MX4 Sting R with the 21"/18" wheel set which raises the bike 1.5" overall from stock. You can also then get the seat extender/riser kit which raises it another 1.5" of height increase, while also moving the seat back some, for more room on the bike if needed. Then the suspension linkage which also raises the bike slightly as well, but that might only be needed for 19"/16" wheel setups to correct the suspension geometry. OR Look into the next size category. There is the KTM Freeride EXC which is closer to the size of a full-size dirt bike, but still on the slightly smaller lighter style frame, like you would want from an Ebike. Then there's the obvious Ultra Bee and Storm Bee. The Talaria Dragonfly is coming soon and is supposed to be very good.
For the issue of beta explorer with brakes sensor. Probably installing a push button wired to the controller brake sensor wires would work. this way you have bypassed your brakes and by the same time made a safety for ignition
Good stuff as always. Wish we could get some lights and signals on some of these (eride pro especially). Would love it to do some light supermoto work during the week for errands, and switch back for dirt rides.
Just a small production tip: when exporting the final video, up the bitrate to 40-50mbps to hopefully remove some of the pixelation when driving at a higher rate of speed. Movement in video is killed by a low bitrate.
You list the Talaria Sting R as being 140 lbs weight but on the Talaria website the Sting R MX4 (the only Sting R listed) is spec'd at 57 kg or 125.4 lbs. I believe the Talaria website is correct as it has a 60v 45ah battery versus the72v 40 ah battery of the Eride pro SS which does weigh 139 lbs.

It is faster, better built, longer range and can go on rides with other gas dirtbikes. The bike you buy neeeds to match the terrain and scope of your rides. I ride in a backyard track by myself and bought a Stage2 M1 and its sick. If I had to ride with other bikes or gas bikes, or exploring new trails there is no way id buy it. Id look at Ultra, or Storm bee or KTM, Alta etc... also that price you listed is almost half off its normal price
I own a 23 freeride and i've owned a light bee and an ultra bee. The freeride is the best bike by far (as it should be based on MSRP and pedigree). Having said that they're in very different classes as far as weight goes. You also can't do any power or range mods to the Freeride. If you're not trying to pretend your bike is a bicycle and ride on mtb trails and what not the freeride is by far the best deal going right now if you find a dealer with those killer deals.
My first choice would be the E ride pro because i weigh 200 lbs and i think itd be best for me haha Then the talaria sting. Although I'd be happy just having my own wheels haha 😅
Great video overall, will be a huge help for people comparing these bikes. One thing to improve in the future. For the top speed, use a phone with a GPS tracker or something like that. Most speedometers just aren't accurate, they are always optimistic.
Yeah i would love to hear how you like the eride pro ss vs the MX4. Theres not a ton of eride pro ss reviews and basically none that compare it directly to the MX4.. Thanks!
Best video for us perspective buyers so far. A diverse group of riders and bikes. I have tons of respect for this channel! Now my only concern is which is best for myself at 6'3"?
You'll have to modify any of them to fit you. And you can modify any of them, but sur-ron will have the most extreme modifications, like extended frames and swingarms. If you aren't planning on spending big money on modifications then they are pretty much all equal, grab some different bars.
Surron Ultra Bee, im 5'9 and the Stage2 fits me well as its slightly longer than most tested. but Ultra Bee would destroy any of these and would fit you.
The Ultra Bee is what I want most. For the size and additional power. But those factors are what also would prohibit me from being able to get away with street riding it to work in that gray area. There's finally a street legal option in the NIU XQi3, but it's the least powerful of any. Ugh
Your channel is easily at the top covering the E-moto bike segment with the most comprehensive content. Surprised this channel doesn't have more subscribers. Regarding the MX4, I've read that the newest version has an upgraded controller with "Sting R" embossed on it that pumps out 8.5 - 9kw at peak. Can you guys verify this? I'm on the fence between the MX4 and the SS. Thanks
Eride is obviously the best choice for the money.. idk what 79 is using for suspension, but everything else was top-notch. The ONLY reason that Surron is the top for most people is because it has a HUGE aftermarket community already, same with Talria. Once they start making parts for the others, especially Eride.. it will easily be the best bike by far out of any bike by a HUGE margin.
In the market for my first E-bike and this video was DOPE!! Thanks for the info! Im kinda sold on the Pro SS v2 but I want to know how maintenance is between the top 3 bikes.
I like these for hunting because they get me where I am going faster. I don’t want to spend forever at 20 mph when I can get there at 50+! Great review and I can’t wait to get one in August!
Awesome comparison vid. Appreciate the information! As a brand new very interested in buying a true E-Bike ( just bought my first pedal assist from Walmart), I can see myself easily spending $5K on one of these bikes, probably E Ride SS Pro. Keep the vids coming. Subscribed!
Dope video guys! Way to up your game, And congratulations on your guises shop ! Let me know if you guys are going to carry the ultra bee or should I go with the E ride pro?
Nice vid. I find myself riding street more than anything these days and wild thing none of these would be my daily. I currently ride an Escapade Rampage and for a 100lb bike hitn 94mph its the craziest feeling ever only 2 wheels. Must try gents.
Thanks for this comparison. I have yet to pick an E-bike / E-Moto to replace my current gas powered dirt bike. The 25 mile range is a major concern as I ride trails and have covered 100 miles in an outing. Could you do some trail comparisons? Just as I was thinking Yeah but how do they compare if you make a few mods, the video said that comparison was coming next - excellent!
Just go to a beta dealership. I have the same bike and had the same brake problem. They fixed it and i was out riding the next day. I agree the rocket mode is too short. That changes when you get a new controller. It changes to 60 seconds.
So I wanna get my first surron which one would you remember I’m 5’7 to 5’8 I want something I can ride to work and drive around and cruise places whic model will be best for me I’m 31 years old
I've watched so many reviews and the conclusion is they all need better hold downs for the rattling cables and better lock in designs for the battery 😊
do you think stock ultra bee is better than stock talaria for the long run i want street, offroad and range. i like the smaller sting mx4 and gearbox but the ultra-bee has 12kw but it is bigger and is 1000 euros more expensive where i buy. is 8kw on the talaria enough for beginner in the long run and the range of the battery or is the ultra-bee worth it extra money and size\weight?
I ride a stage 2 M1. It does great on tracks or mountain trails. It would be sweet if they actually did a controller tune or upgrade because the bike is kind of slow in acceleration. Maybe the torp 500 or bac4000 might be better on the bike. Something that can be app controlled. Also front forks are already leaking and I have only had it for a month and only do trail rides.
@ElectricCycleRider Hey Guys How do these compare to say an 80cc 2 stroke dirt bike or 125 in regards to acceleration and power Im guessing they wouldn’t have anything on a 250? Cheers
For the price i dont think the Talaria can be beat. Add in a gearbox instead of a belt drive and theres a reason i put my money on an mx3. To be fair i only didnt get the mx4 because it was another month before they were shipping last year and it saved me $500. I'm still very happy with the purchase, especially for the low price!
Hello. Maybe you know how to remove the maximum speed limit and make it so that there are no turtle, normal and rocket modes...now it goes a maximum of 60 km / h in normal mode and 70 km / h in rocket mode. For example, on Sur-Ron light bee x, the engine is weaker and the maximum speed is higher. Here the power allows, but somehow limited. I do not want to lag behind Sur-Ron at least
Great shear TY I have a stock out of box Segway x160 :( I want to up grade battery, controller and increase the front tier to something like a 17". I want to do e-bike camping with solar panels and laptop. I need saddlebags. There also might be small amount of snow on shoulders of trails/roads. What typ of tire is fair for dirt, asphalt and sand/snow IE super motor wheels ? Or sell it and get a Talaria Sting r or something ? Any thoughts ?
@@taylon5200 Battery, controller and a larger wheel is about 2100 $ right ? I dowt I could get 1900$ for my x160. I don't know if all the extra bells and whistles are worth the extra price tag's.
The surron single handedly created this sector of e bikes. And is single handedly the very best of any brand with the best warranty, customer service and aftermarket support. Nothing will ever truly surpass the ron as they have an honest decade of time in the sector above ALL the competition.
Have you guys seen the Rerode R1? and Do you plan on reviewing it? The rear suspension design is mx bike like and I am curious how it handles next to these other bikes.
The Arctic Leopard EX-800 or any from the same maker. Better range (head and shoulders above) than any of the bikes you tested and rising in other categories as well.

Amazing video! I’m thinking abt saving up for a eride pro but it’s quite pricy
Seems like the Talaria wins conservatively by all your metrics
I could use 1 of this to check out new camping spots
Upgraded from mx4 to Eride SS and so so so glad I did
Is it really that much better?
Since you’ve had both, what do you like better about the SS?
is it worth 1.8k more
Yeah i would love to hear how you like the eride pro ss vs the MX4.
Thanks
@switchfoothi
I read the exact thing, that the new MX-4 Expert got a new controller that bumps the Expert 10% over the standard MX4.
I never heard of half these bikes I didn’t know there were so many I was just saving up for a talaria xxx
That was good man. Clear concise and easy 👍
Really solid comparison video! Thanks for putting in the work!
I’m looking to buy one and I was already leaning towards the E-Ride Pro SS 2.0 Now ,it’s a definite for me. Thank you.💪🏼
Did u ever order it?
@@fishstick_smiper3320 don’t have enough money yet still saving
I just got the Rawrr Mantis’s 72 volts and it’s a beast!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the one I'm getting
Im mad they ranked it last
How Is It? Debating On Getting One! The Mantis All
@@Antonio-r8r I love mines!!! Go for it!!! Quality build!!!!! Fast too!!!
@@djcoolcliffdo you drive it around the street?
Thanks so much for this video! Much appreciated. Very quality content. Your channel is going to blow up for sure.
Aftermarket support should also be a category. The Talaria would win.
Yeah! crushing the demo videos nice job!
Awesome comparison vid. Appreciate the information! As a brand new very interested in buying a true E-Bike ( just bought my first pedal assist from Walmart), I can see myself easily spending $5K on one of these bikes, probably E Ride SS Pro. Keep the vids coming. Subscribed!
You don’t even know how much I want this bike I’ve wanted one forever but don’t have the money😢
5 grand is HEAVY on the wallet!
I want one of these so bad! Thanks for making this video, I needed it.
You should make another video with the budget options like the mx3.
Love your channel. And awesome comparison!! Keep up the great work!!!
Dope video guys! Way to up your game, And congratulations on your guises shop ! Let me know if you guys are going to carry the ultra bee or should I go with the E ride pro?
Great review! I really want one of these bikes but I'm afraid to pull the trigger there are so many now.
Nice vid. I find myself riding street more than anything these days and wild thing none of these would be my daily. I currently ride an Escapade Rampage and for a 100lb bike hitn 94mph its the craziest feeling ever only 2 wheels. Must try gents.
lowkey really want the eride pro and would love to mod it as a stunt street ride bike
I live in the middle of nowhere Appalachian mountains and my loop is 72 miles so 100 miles would give some to spare but has serious climbs.
Just go to a beta dealership. I have the same bike and had the same brake problem. They fixed it and i was out riding the next day. I agree the rocket mode is too short. That changes when you get a new controller. It changes to 60 seconds.
for the beta brake switch fix. i used a Honda dirt bike kill switch wired into either one of the brake switch connector.
Great video! Appreciate the insight here.
looks like RAM off-road park where some of the testing was completed. Love the unbiased review.
Great review! 🫡
So I wanna get my first surron which one would you remember I’m 5’7 to 5’8 I want something I can ride to work and drive around and cruise places whic model will be best for me I’m 31 years old
Great review. Wish you could have added the Altis Sigma bike in the fleet of test bikes.
I've watched so many reviews and the conclusion is they all need better hold downs for the rattling cables and better lock in designs for the battery 😊
This is a super thorough and professional video, had to subscribe 👍🏻
do you think stock ultra bee is better than stock talaria for the long run i want street, offroad and range. i like the smaller sting mx4 and gearbox but the ultra-bee has 12kw but it is bigger and is 1000 euros more expensive where i buy. is 8kw on the talaria enough for beginner in the long run and the range of the battery or is the ultra-bee worth it extra money and size\weight?
I ride a stage 2 M1. It does great on tracks or mountain trails. It would be sweet if they actually did a controller tune or upgrade because the bike is kind of slow in acceleration. Maybe the torp 500 or bac4000 might be better on the bike. Something that can be app controlled. Also front forks are already leaking and I have only had it for a month and only do trail rides.
@ElectricCycleRider
Hey Guys
How do these compare to say an 80cc 2 stroke dirt bike or 125 in regards to acceleration and power
Im guessing they wouldn’t have anything on a 250?
Cheers
Love the talaria, I think they look so good too
Thank you for the report, like to test these here in Chile, the driest desert ATACAMA, and Patagonia, love to have you guys here...
I’m 6’11” 275lbs. Any bike you recommend?
Curious how much " rocket mode " depletes the battery if you use it several times while riding??
Have you compared the E-Ride to the Ventus One?
Mx4 with a controller seems to be the best for the least $
Great video guys. 👏🏼👏🏼
@barrynobles95 Appreciate it!🤘
I'm thinking about getting 2 Talaria Sting R's for me and my son to ride on some local trails.
Great shear TY
I have a stock out of box Segway x160 :( I want to up grade battery, controller and increase the front tier to something like a 17".
Sell it and buy am actually decent bike. Trying to upgrade that thing to be functional would cost way more than its worth
Idk, my eride pro ss 2.0 is just a better bike in every way compared to my homies surron.
@taylon5200 til you need parts. And longevity wise ot won't compare. Surrom invented and owns the space for a reason
Do any of these smaller bikes have traction control like the Ultra Bee?
Have you guys seen the Rerode R1? and Do you plan on reviewing it? The rear suspension design is mx bike like and I am curious how it handles next to these other bikes.
The Arctic Leopard EX-800 or any from the same maker. Better range (head and shoulders above) than any of the bikes you tested and rising in other categories as well.
For the battery capacity ranking is the talaria sting R your talking about is it the mx4 or mx3?
Any plans to test the Arctic Leopard 880?
LBX! Great video
When are they going to get emtb emx hybrids??
