- I put together a comprehensive update on the Wings of Fire TV show from Warner Bros that was put on hold as of 2022! Updates from Tui as of Feb 2023, and some news on concept art leaked a while ago on Twitter as well as a very recent animatic leak.

NEW NEWS AS OF 7/8/2023: Unfortunately at a signing on 7/8/2023 in Worcester MA, Tui announced that they will have to completely redo the show from scratch, so all of the concept art and stuff in this video isn't applicable anymore :'( the show will likely have new showrunners and the scripts, art, etc will have to be thrown out. Tui said she will try to re-pitch the show, but she will have to wait until the writer's strike is over at the very soonest, so it will likely take several years.
Hope they won't completely change the main characters or plot
(Edit: By main characters, I mean five dragonets of destiny)

The video itself wasn't that disappointing to me actually, I thought the idea of the show had been dropped utterly and completely, so to hear that the author and others were still wanting to get it made was good news to me! But to read this comment and hear that ALL of the work previously put in will have to be scrapped, when it was so good and actually what an audience dedicated to the books would WANT to see in the show?? That's just heartbreaking. Because I feel like getting that level of quality and commitment to the original material is very rare. So the fact that we got it once . . . I just think it can only go downhill from here. Especially since the showrunners will be different as well. We really gonna find new showrunners with the same level of respect for the story and the author? I don't think so. You don't get that lucky twice.
@@lizarr7176I agree. The previous work for the show was amazing looking I'm also sad it's scrapped and won't be used at all. But I'm glad Tui is still fighting for TV series to happen, and who knows. If new showrunners are smart, they'll actually include Tui in work and listen to her.
After all something is better than nothing at all.
As disappointing as the news regarding the show is, at least we know Tui has been actively making an effort to continue production! Thanks for the update. I had seem some of these leaks here and there, but not all of them -- and I was certainly surprised! Fingers crossed we do get something someday. Not only will it be a great gift to fans, but it'll introduce so many new people to Wings of Fire and bring the series to life even more.

A Wings of Fire theme ride would be so much fun hahaha. I'm glad Tui was able to give her input during the shows creation - I've seen too many series ruined by Hollywood! Eragon, Percy Jackson, and Artemis Fowl to name just a few.
Yeaaahh I would worry about the show being handled by Disney or showrunners who don’t listen to Tui’s suggestions. Dan and Christa seem great and I hope they get to stay on the show
I had a dream about a wof themed ride. It was a rollercoaster that showed all the most memorable scenes from each book. (In a somewhat pirates of the Caribbean way)
It'd be really cool to have Scarlet's arena if that kind of theme park ever came to be a real thing.

I was able to see the animatic before it got taken down, and oh my gosh the place holder VAs are actually so good. And the dialogue is also super nice, glory sounds sarcastic and witty, Starflight is brain boi who complains a bit, Sunny tries to get the other's attention but instead gets ignored and then gets mad about it. Definitely different then the books but they still feel like themselves. I really hope we'll be able to see the full thing in the future. Glory calls sunny kiddo, and I think it's funny since they're the same age but treats Sunny like a little kid.

I hadn't seen any of the leaks before this, and I was absolutely astonished the whole time! It looks so beautiful! Even if the show never gets picked back up, just being able to see WoF in this whole new way was super inspiring.
Throwing this out there for those interested, someone last year had translated the scroll at 7:43 and this is what it reads:

Also the faces on the board at 8:50 from left to right in the mirrored image are Blister, Whirlpool, Coral, and Shark. It's when the DoD are trying to determine possible culprits for the egg smasher in book 2.

Just dragon language. Between the scroll and the text on the whodunit board, it seems to just be English letters replaced with new ones.

During Boskone day, I was actively trying to search any i fo from Tui from people who went their, but nothing, so thank you so much for sharing what you have learned!!!
Bio, don’t know if any of y’all know this, but Disney+ actually does have their own “dragon-esque” show that they picked up just last year, the famous (and commercially more successful book series) Eragon. Therefore, I feel like Disney+ wouldn’t exactly be the best idea. But, it’s all up in the air atm. On a more personal note, 1. I love your art and content Bio, can’t wait to see more of it! 2. As of this year, I’m graduating HS and immediately going into a 2-year school where I’ll be learning 3D Animation and VFX, and (hopefully) 🤞, will be able to join the team and help out with the show! Kind of a dream of mine ever since I learned that WOF rights were bought by Warner Bros. back in early 2020, just before COVID happened. Anyway, sorry for the ranting, but yeah! In the part were her voice got covered by the background noises she said "maybe we could get you in there" as in 'we could get you to help us with the plot'
Willow Heart Studio already made some kind of comic book voice cast for wings of fire, and their voice actors really made my imagination bounce in whenever I read the books. For example: When someone like Clay talks, I imagine one of Willow Heart Studio's voice actors in his voice, and it fit in perfectly with how I imagined Clay's voice to be! I'm just saying, if the show would actually be published, the voice actors from Willow Heart Studio should really voice the characters!

Really glad they haven’t given up on the show yet, it really has a lot of potential. Really hope it’s able to become a reality, but only time will tell. Also, welcome back! Hope your studies are going well, and good luck on getting your PhD!

This was the first time I heard Tui's voice. She has exactly the voice I had in my mind for Sunny, but with Blaze's way to speak.
I'm a huge fan of WoF and I wasn't even aware that a show was being made, and it's such a great surprise !

11:48 We never got to see that in the graphic novels and I love it. Sand clearly brought in by the bucketful, and braziers in the ceiling that look like they'd just cause bits of the ceiling to melt and the room to constantly drip cold water onto her head. _Comfy._

Also Tui might consider if at a time where streaming services are desperate, that the chance they might accept the series might actually be better? IDK much but it might be a good idea to pitch the idea rn
Idk I feel like streaming services at the moment would rather produce cheap reality TV than animation unfortunately.
I have a feeling the show will be colored in a 2d style with the models and decoration pieces (the logs) while the backgrounds will be super realistic

All of this concept art is absolutely gorgeous! It feels absolutely fantastical and beautiful. I love the shots of the ice dunes and of the big rock formations in the desert. The only thing I’m unsure about is the size differences between different dragons might make it ackward. Like sunny standing next to a guard even though they are basically young adults/teens. Also your persona is adorable. It’s nice how it has all the details but the bright eyes still focus you. Incredible!

Maybe it's just that I'm playing an expansion literally called Dragonflight but the concept art reminds me a bit of World of Warcraft's high fantasy artstyle and I'm digging it. I think the hardest part is pinning the target demographic for the show since the books can get pretty darn violent. I'd say "you wouldn't see what happened to Darkstalker's dad on Nickelodeon" but Legend of Korra aired there so I don't even know.

I'm glad there's a chance this show will still happen despite the animation purge on the streaming services. After Netflix cut Dead End, Inside Job, and the Gorillaz movie, I'm starting to worry about shows like Arcane and Love Death & Robots.
Although we don't know when the show is coming out, it's nice to see that it has concept! It's also nice to see Tui taking some input, maybe not alot, but a bit. I hope that we hear more in the future ^^

Always been following the wings of fire series and I am glad to hear this update regarding the show that still may or may not happen. Interestingly enough I found out about this video through Instagram. I look forward to hearing more about the series so that's all I have to say.
I first found the wof book via audio book on hoopla, and thats how Ive enjoyed them like that. I can fall asleep to sudew screaming about unaliving hivewings :)

This was really interesting, all the concept art is amazing
it really is a shame. I have been waiting for the wof tv show since 2019. but all of the tv channels and companies have been running out of money to make new TV shows. Recently, Netflix has cancelled the second season to a show I enjoyed that left on a huge cliffhanger because they didn't have a big enough budget. Even other shows that I loved have been cancelled too. I have been addicted to wings of fire and hopefully the tv show manages to get released and I'm open to a few other more books too, I'm looking forward to hearing about the Rainwing's past and Queen Anaconda's backstory. The concept art is beautiful and thank you for posting this video giving us a heads up. You got a thumbs up from me 👍

didnt even know it was cancelled :[!! i guess it makes a lot of sense that streaming services are having money issues considering how many amazing shows that have been cancelled in recent months, like dead end paranormal park and inside job on netflix for example, but man it sucks so bad :[
im definitely glad that shes determined to try and get it made regardless, even if it takes a lot of waiting and hoping, and that the people that had been working on it before were trying to have her input on it! id wait a decade for it if i had to personally, i know its not her fault that these things happen, and i just love WOF too much!
6:01 I think Tui said "like along your recent points" at the part that was harder to hear
I have mixed opinions on the tribe designs. For starters, I don't like the Icewing design, at all. I think the Seawings look really cool, and I prefer the sail design they have in the show to the one in the books. I was a little concerned by the weird neck crest on Starflight's model, but after seeing the Nightwing concept silhouetted on the beach scene, I think it's starting to grow on me. I think the Mudwings heads are fine, don't really like that they have almost no neck. Seeing as this is all concept art though, it may be changed before the final product, and overall, I think the show looks great!
I really don't like the icewing design either, They look like Yaks 💀😭

I remember going to the premiere for book 15. Both Tui and the people running the show seemed super excited. Im sad that things didn’t work out the way they expected it to. Best of luck to them, though! I know everybody’s super excited about it.
