I have a ND2. Why is everyone falsely saying that the screen isn't a touch screen? It is a touch screen, I use it daily but the touch functionality is, for security reasons, turned off as soon as the car starts moving. Btw. I absolutely love this car :)
I have the 2016 MX-5 Club soft top & its screen works the same way. As long as I'm not moving the touch screen operates. The steering buttons function nicely while driving so a touch screen is not needed ! When you do touch the screen it mars it with noticeable finger prints in the daylight. So I have not used the touch screen maybe once just to see it work when new. 6.5 years later have not used the touch screen.
Practically speaking, it is not a touch screen because the majority of time you need to engage it while the car is moving. It’s BS that it’s safer with a track wheel. I love this car and work around this dumb infotainment design…..but my traditional (all the time) touch screen on my daily (gr86) is easier to use by a wide margin. I use Waze and it routinely asks me to validate whether hazards or police are still on my route. With my gr86, reaching up and touching the screen is easy. Cycling through a number of clicks to get to the “still there” button on Waze is a chore (and actually more dangerous as I need sustained attention on the screen to make sure I’m landing on the right spot. Utterly stupid design.
@@stms4411 Its a car made for paying attention to driving not touching the screen all day long ! It sounds like you have an automatic transmission ! To be complaining about not being able to touch the screen while driving ! Drive your GR86 if its so much better to you. You can touch it while eating your Burger & texting the GF !
Mazda should really consider some more fun colors. The Zircon Sand screams "this is my retirement car". Soul Red Crystal is so good, why not create a nice blue or green?
I want them to make an ND3 with the new tan interior in a color like the NB's Emerald Green. It's a crime they ever stopped making tan over green Miatas, it just feels right which is why that's what my NB is.
Some blues like Laguna seca, Santorini , Yas marina and the new color of the Maserati Cielo would be awesome. Lotus yellow would be awesome too, liquid yellow
Mazda's biggest opportunity with the MX-5 is marketing in the US. The car is about as perfect as you can get if you are looking for a connected driving experience at a reasonable price. I have a 2022 club with BBR pkg, and I encounter people daily that don't know what the car is, or mainly, what it is capable of. Journalists and Enthusiasts get this car, most others have no idea. Honestly, I made fun of this car most of my life, until I drove one and was amazed. The next cars that I would consider for driving experience above the MX-5 are Emira, M2, Boxster 4.0, all 3-4x the price. And I would still say the MX-5 is still more fun to drive on the street, because you can use more of its potential at legal speeds.
Totally agree which is why like it better than Porsche Boxster which is nice, 0:29 but twice the price of a loaded GTRF. Over $80k for base Boxster $40k for Miata RFGT. Twice the price… Miata lighter more nimble and fast enough since it’s about 500 lbs. lighter than the Boxster. Both are fun but I think the Miata is actually MORE FUN to drive having owned both. Plus you don’t worry about repairs or maintenance after the warranty expires. Reliable and fun at affordable price. Incredible car!
I doubt the M2 would be more fun than the Miata. Faster sure, better DD sure. Maybe more fun on the right race track where you can use the power. But on a tight technical racetrack, or street driving, Miata will be more fun. The M2 is nearly 1,300 pounds heavier. I say this having owned multiple Miatas, 2 Boxsters, an M3, 2 911s among other things.

I bought my 1.5 ND in 2017 (very first 2015 model that arrived here in Spain to a showroom) and it's not going anywhere. I love it.
I've owned every version of Miata since 1989. Most recently, a 22 GT convertible. Suggestions: bring back the seat height adjustment as offered on the NC for us shorter drivers and increase the comfort of the seats. Bring back a true PRHT in which the lowered top completely disappears. Provide better (more convenient) location of cup holders. Provide easier access to trunk release and fuel filler release levers. Provide a dual clutch transmission option. Provide more exterior color options (richer: dark blue, dark green, etc). Yes, I'm not young anymore, but I still love my Miatas !
Mazda actually did work on trying to make the ND a full retractable hardtop but due to the smaller platform and narrowing of the back end it was just going to be too complicated. There is a Mazda of Japan video on TH-cam that shows a 1/4 scale model. I believe, I might be wrong on the size of it, but there were just too many parts that had to move to get that to work so it was just too complicated. While I agree with you that it would be great to have that. I don't see that happening unless they change the design of the next generation enough to accommodate it. As far as a dual clutch transmission goes, I am not sure that we will see that either as Mazda doesn't have quite the deep pockets of some of the other companies to put into building another transmission. We'll see what happens with the new technology that they've done with the CX90s and how that might be able to get moved into some of the other vehicles in the lineup. I'm on my sixth Miata by the way. 😊
No a DCT is not what I want ! Manual transmission is the way to go ! DCT adds more cost / complexity & many of them are JERKY at parking lot speeds - no thank you ! As a 2016 MX-5 Club soft top owner I think a Tan / Beige interior option with the more color choices would be great. I think even a Heads Up Display is overkill as the driver sits the displays are right there. The clutch pedal feel is so light I don't know WHY anyone would go for a slush Box over the connected feel you get of the manual transmission ?
Mazda is killing it right now. I personally know multiple people that have switched from BMW and Lexus, and others that have been considering it as a 'Almost Luxury' when looking for a new car, comparing it to Mercedes, and BMW.
The gap between what is considered "luxury" and price is getting smaller every year while the price for said "luxury" brands is skyrocketing. People want something that's reliable and doesn't take a second mortgage to repair.
Thinking of switching from my 2016 Mini Cooper S (basically a BMW) to an ND MX5 RF, still has the little knob between the seats to control the infotainment, but RWD instead of FWD, never use the back seats so wouldn’t miss them and the boot would still be big enough as a guy living with parents doing minor grocery shops
I've also recently bought a ND2, the main thing I would've wanted is some brighter color options :) Hopefully the LED tails and headlights are retrofittable
I just bought an ND2 GT about 3 months ago as well. I settled on color and went with Snowflake White so that I add some color with vinyl stripes and what not. I didn't want another black (or by proxy dark grey) car. Don't like blue and sol red (and I know i'm in the minority here) is, ehhh just ok. I love love love the orange the 2019 anv. came in and in 2017 Mazda sold a "classic red" in Japan only. Why is "classic red" not a standard color?!?!?!?!! I want a bright red, or a sunburst yellow, or (and I know that automakers are scared of the color) a PURPLE for crying out loud.
I couldn't agree on your desire for brighter colors. I own and enjoy a 1995 Classic Red NA2. It's a sports car, dang it. Seems that many of the current color choices are largely limited to white, black, gray, or silver. Blah. If I wanted to drive a sports car that looks like a hearse, I go buy a hearse!
MX-5 already has LED headlights as standard, adaptive LED in all but the basic package(from 2015, the current ND/ND2 model)... at least in Europe LED headlights and taillights are standard in all MX-5s.
I own an nd 2 rf 184hp. I love it. I did all the upgrade it need by myself and in my opinion thise are: more power, larger wheels, a better sound engine, lowerd springs, lower seat position, smaller and thicker steering wheel, put the opening roof speed limit at 30/40km/h without keeping the finger on the botton. If they would do a miata with 2.3 litre turbo engine it would be unbeattable.
My RF is great the way it is. I’m 5’ 11 and very comfortable once I’m inside. Additional colors would be nice. Maybe British Racing Green with a tan top. I would buy one in a heart beat. But I will never get rid of my RF. I would just ad to my collection. 😊
Not in the form its in now, it would be useless. They need to remove the turbos and make it rev higher to be worthy of being put in this godly chassis.
Thanks for covering the ND3! I'm surprised that only a few channels have discussed the ND3 Miata. This refresh is major news, in my opinion! I will definitely be purchasing one before its run ends.
Me too! I should order it at the end of next year. I think (or better I hope 😅) that Mazda will produce this final version of mx5 nd till the the end of 2026, do you agree with my prevision?
@@falco_88 I think that's right. It wouldn't make much business sense to invest in a pretty significant refresh on a low volume model only to discontinue it in a year or two. My guess is that Mazda will keep selling the ND3 thru 2026 and introduce the NE for 2027, maybe even 2028.
@@dlg5485 do you think i can take the risk of waiting till the end of 2025 to order my mx5 nd? I don’t care if it arrives 6/8 months later i only care i have the possibility of making the order in a Mazda dealer and if I can wait one year more than the end of 2024 it could be better for me. Thanks if you answer ✌️
@@falco_88 I certainly hope so because I plan to order mine in the 2nd half of 2025. I don't believe ND3 orders will close anytime before then. Even if it does go out of production sooner than expected, there should still be dealer inventory for a while, and a few preowned examples as well. However, if you want to special order your perfect configuration (as I do) Q3 2025 is the longest I'd wait. Also, I recommend staying in touch with a trusted dealer so they can keep you aware of the production timeline.
I don't get it, LED headlights and taillights have been part of the standard equipment in MX-5 since 2015 in the current ND/ND2 model...adaptive LED in all but the basic package. Are they not in the US?
I fully agree with you Motoman. That Mazda concept is more like an RX-7 than a Miata. So happy the CX-90 is doing well. I'm hoping these strong sales will lead to a new Mazda 6.
I hope Mazda does NOT make the Miata bigger again. It’s currently designed for guys of average height, plus a bit more: “According to the latest CDC stats, these are the average heights for U.S. adult men based on age: Ages 20 to 39: 176.1 centimeters, or roughly 5 feet, 9 inches.” If you suffer from excessive height, I’m sorry, but sometimes life’s unfair! The car is just not for you. Complaining about the Miata’s interior if you’re 6’3” is like a shorter man dissing the game of basketball ‘cause it’s harder for him to reach the basket. Ridiculous? Of course. Same here.
I would be okay with a hybrid NE Miata, but it must be lightweight and manual still. I personally love the targa design, but would be nice to reduce the blindspots a lot if they can add more glass on those rear pillars. Having said that, I'm awfully tempted by the idea of an ND3.
The ND3 taillights are actually my favorite thing about this refresh. In my opinion they look so good it pretty much negates my desire for aftermarket options (of which there are a few good design choices, like Valenti and CarbonMiata). I'm a lighting guy though, so I'm biased in that regard. In the performance department I'm definitely excited to see how the new ND3 LSD improves performance in the real world over the ND1/2 LSD.
I will order a 2024 MX5… Can’t decide between black with tan top and tan interior, or, aero gray with terra cotta interior. Both GT 6 speed manual….. Which combo would you prefer? Thanks, John
USA MY2024 suggestion: Canadians can buy the GS-P w/ sport MX5 configuration, but USA buyers can only buy the "Build To Order" Club w/ Brembo with the ugly-as-sin port-installed trim garbage (rear lip spoiler, front air dam, side sill extensions, and satellite shark fin). It is not a factory or engineering change; it would just be omission of a port installer drilling holes in the car. Mazda USA, please change this.
The stronger downforce feel from updated diff & changed steering should certainly make for a more involving & dynamic driving experience (in lamen terms, more fun lol)
Hey Motoman, you forgot to mention the CX70 is coming and hopefully it would be another cash cow for Mazda. I saw a camouflaged one in Irvine, and it's easy to recognize it is that. I own 3 Mazdas and looking forward to add the ND3 into my garage next year.
Good point, however needed to focus on sales figures in order to make the case I was trying to highlight in this episode . . . Being you brought it up, I can't help but feeling that the CX-70 will eat into the sales of the others, specifically the CX-5.
I want an ND3! Finally drove an ND2 a few months back and can't stop thinking about it... Found out something interesting too back then. The Sport trim listed only shows two colors on the website and all the literature (black and red), but a third color has actually shown up at dealers and can be ordered via dealers (the champagne color). Haven't seen that before with any other manufacturer/model. Interesting.
Drove an ND2 from a dealership a few months ago as well and waiting for the ND3. Hopefully they take orders before March, I want to get it and drive during the summer!
The infotainment screen and tech was the glaring drawback to the ND1 and ND2. Glad they updated it to what my 21’ CX5 and CX30 has. Hope to have an ND2 or ND3 in my garage soon.
I would really love to know the rationale behind calling the MX-5 the Miata just for the North American market. I'm baffled, since it's the only market that knows it by that stupid name.
I wish they would of done a dual exhaust upgrade out back like the NC Miata. Then I could of put that on my ND2 for an appearance and exhaust note upgrade.
They also retuned the steering in addition to reducing friction in the rack. Also the 4hp is only 1.5L the 2.0L gets a retune and better throttle response. The concept car Iconic SP they said is longer just for show, and it can be made shorter hinting at it being the Miata NE concept. I still hope they do an RX9 with the other RX9 conecpt they had which was stunning. I hope they take there new inline 6, take the turbos off, make it rev past 7500rpm and make it optional in the Miata n new RX9, Mazda 6 Sporty trim to compete with AMG.
That “RX-7” concept with the inline 6 would have me trade my 2019 ND2 in a heartbeat. I’m not sure the hood looks like it’d fit though… probably 4 cyl hybrid or maybe rotary 🤔
The concept is a 2 rotor rotary that works with green fuel (hydrogen) electricity generator that powers battery and 2 electric engines in the front. But you made me dream with this inline six, that I 've forgotten, mounted transversly in the back as a Miura. 👌
I have a weird car history. Last three cars were GTI, NC Miata, Audi TTS, and just ordered a C8 Stingray. I think the NE will sell like crazy if it looks near the recent concept.
I would love if Mazda put the Wankelectric powertrain of the concept car in the upcoming NE Miata. I like small cars, my first was a P. Fiat 126p with 2 cylinders and 26 horsepower, but please make the Miata a bit bigger. I do not want to get crushed in an accident.
Yeah, I don't change the Miata too much. Need to keep it the overall look and drive to train.. maybe a turbo 2.0 would be fun. Would like to see wide wheels and tires.
It IS one of the most nearly-perfect cars on the planet... currently with the most boring pallette on the planet!! Come on, Mazda, bring back the fun, exciting colors!! Start with a gorgeous green, or purple or light blue!!
I don't know why, but I want to sit down with a glass of Cab and talk cars with MotoMan. The ND3 looks interesting for sure. Patiently waiting for the GT3 vids. Cheers
You will not have to wait long . . . first event I took the car goes live this coming Saturday . . . Followed by the PDI test drive video later in November . . .
I would like to see an updated front headlight and tail light, I think the biggest thing they can take from that concept car is the design of the back end including the tail light, and the front end looks similar already but they should definitely work on the headlights a bit, I think they should also drop a bit more power into the car. I would like to see the Miata with ~220-250 hp personally. I think it's totally fine to make the car longer by a handful of inches and adding a couple of hundred of pounds in weight if they can add more horsepower and make the interior a couple of inches larger.
Mazda needs to bring back performance variants of its cars. BMW has M, Mercedes has AMG. I’d buy a Mazda3 turbo manual in a heartbeat. I know Coleman is probably trying to get Mazda to build fun to drive cars for enthusiasts so I’m not going to poke fun of the man.
You can use buttons and knobs without taking your eyes off the road. Touch screens go against traffic safety, you are not allowed to touch your mobile phone while driving, so why other screens.
Holding on your ND3 review to decide whether I'm picking one up. It'll be a far different beast from my Gulia QF, but I'm thinking I want something smaller, simpler, & lighter.
I bought a brand new MX-5 in 2016…… drove it pretty hard ( highway miles) up to 52,000. Really enjoyed it…… except the claustrophobia. I’m 6”3 slender. If they could extend the chassis to make more interior room for driver and passenger, the car would be perfect.
Always makes me nervous to hear that a car builder loads their sports cars with tech and sophistication……increases the risk that they ruin the best core elements of the vehicle.
The NE1 should have 1: more vibrant color options 2: an E-LSD w/ various modes 3: higher power to weight ratio. The rest is keeping the natural progression of Jinba Ittai of the previous models.
Too big & heavy. Plus the power output would put it closer to a supra 4 cylinder and entry Cayman competitor. At that point best to leave the Miata as is and offer an RX-7/8 Model as a Halo performance coupe above it
Greetings from Spain.First, thank you for your Mazda videos, I discovered you for the MX-5 and with Mr. Coleman explaining the engineering. Suggestion for the next generation that is like the iconic SP compacted so we get more trunk space, glove compartment. And above all, an optional hard top has been a big failure of this generation. Remove the RF body and make a coupe body, a 3-door, RX 7 design rear glass, so there would be an open miata and a closed one. Please make the next RX like the 2015 RX Vision, so that the patents do not end up in the trash. Take advantage (manufacture) of the RX and Iconic wheels. Ah, a super video of the RX, thanks
That Mazda concept...would look great in my garage prior to me driving it. I agree that it is probably more likely a RX replacement....if it even gets built. And I really hope they build it...and I really hope it's got internal combustion. But I would be happy and could see how the styling elements could translate to a new Miata. And about the Miata....more power? Too obvious? Mazdaspeed?
Thanks for asking . . . I am shocked how much attention those shoes garner no matter where I go. Remember Frye Boots? That is the company who manufacturers those shoes. Crazy comfortable and durable. Found them in a Frye store in of all places, Texas.
Fun episode. Missing some Coleman action in these videos so if he appears soon,as you said, that´ll be great. I think Mazda lost a bit its mojo long ago and also the move towards electrification makes me think we will not see any relevance anymore into their sports models once people mindset goes ev. Me being me, i hope some sort of Rotary engine appears in some next gen RX7 but having heard that already 20y ago and never happened.... well, i don´t hold much hope about it. My best tip to Mazda is this one.... build again the last gen RX7... i buy one in a heartbeat. The mx5 is a great car in its own right and i guess some people in some markets will still buy them but needs to make financial sense for Mazda so i don´t know how long they can keep the wheel rolling. Hopefully long time. Message to Mr. Coleman: If Mx5 goes full EV eventually, i HARDLY recommend go the 6 speed gearbox route and try to find a gas engine feeling to it. It´s doable and mx5 owners would be interested for sure.
I’ll be it’s 20 years before the MX-5 goes full EV. It will probably get to the point of mild hybrid but until battery tech is lighter it’s staying ICE. Plus the big 3 will make sure ICE aren’t outlawed in the US any time soon.
Sadly they just dont have the resources or money for sportiness outside of the miata atm. The sports car market is already niche enough now that if they release a new sports car like a new RX-7 or even a inline6 Mazda6, it has to be REALLY good to make it succeed against competitors like the supra or BMW 3 series. This costs a lot of time and money so it’s risky for a such a tiny company like Mazda. Just gotta hope the more boring direction they’re taking now with the focus on SUVs means they can grow enough to make more sports cars again.
Wish that one was my car . . . my buddy who's hangar that one is, he bought the car from the original owner about a year or two ago. He's got a 2023 GTS Targa to go with it. I hate him:)
Tan interior is only available with Snowflake White and Aero Gray. The white doesn't look bad, and the gray is boring. Wished the brought back the red and tan combination, and maybe the gray and tan combinations.
Nd3 no more snap oversteer. This is a game changer and its the reason why real enthusiasts like me will buy this car now and only now is this the best sports car in the world. The nd 1 and 2 is too unpredictable around the bends and dangerous and unenjoyable. All fixed with the nd3. Forever car
Motorcycle rider aid packages make me embarrassed for automotive ones. The Aprilia RS 660 & Yamahas and Hondas and ktm’s and bmws…you can adjust everything from 1-10, including traction control and engine braking and everything else including auto blipper and quick shifter…bikes went from way behind cars to way ahead in many cases
The couple of changes are not noticed to a majority of drivers. A larger infotainment screen should have just been eliminated. It’s not necessary in a sports car. And it would have saved more weight
My wish list items are more color choices and height adjustable seats that have the ability to get an inch lower than what we currently have. If the aftermarket can do it, so can Mazda. 😊
:) How about a seat with significant adjustment both up and down? I know this is a small car, but it feels like it could be made a bit more comfortable without losing any of its character.
As a recent ND2 purchaser, these ND3 updates would have been something to consider had I known they were a sure thing. Some brighter exterior options would be nice too. They call him Coal-man because he's the bad boy of the engineering world. Santa always knows what to bring him on Christmas 😂
@@KindredGh0st Yeah. I imagine there will be a bit of a small price bump, and the changes aren't drastic in the scheme of things. But those headlights look fresh and the infotainment update is so long overdue. I'm glad I at least have AA/Car play but that native system is laggy enough to where I'm just setting it and forgetting it going to see today if the cold makes the electrons even slower 🥶. I wonder if the ND3 will hold value over ND2 like ND2 is starting to over ND1, or of someone will figure out how to swap in the new system to ND2
Ugh! Mid cycle refresh? This car has been out 9 years, please don’t go another 9! I get it, the Miata's mission is to be light with fun handling, but my God, every year since 2016 I go down to the dealer, test drive one, and come back in disbelief on how CRAMPED this car is inside. I’m only 5'8 and I need another 3 to 4 inches of seat recline to fit, but the seat is already against the bulkhead. I rented one from Turo, and after half hour on the freeway I had to pull off and rest. But when I reached the canyon roads with the top down I was smitten. Look, we need a little more room inside, not a lot, just enough for a normal male to fit inside. I’m SO close to buying a NC Miata, that model fits me perfect. I challenge anyone to try to sit in the passenger seat for more than 10 minutes on a ND, for some reason it’s way tighter than the drivers seat. Now is the time for everyone that’s 6',3” to respond that they fit fine….It’s a lie. If Mazda wants to boost sales especially for male drivers, and drivers that want to daily this thing, give us some more room. I know, it’s Bio is it’s the lightest car and weight takes away performance, but it’s already kind of slow, what’s another 100 lbs. to make it livable?
I’m 6 ft and fit fine. Your request to increase the room is what gave us the NC, the worst incarnation of this car imho (having owned one). If you are bothered by inconveniences in this car, perhaps you don’t belong in a sports car
@@stms4411no, this guy is right. People say they "fit" in an ND but their knees are bunched up and their hair is brushing up against the headliner. If a 6'0" person tries to follow widely accepted seating position/ergonomic guidelines in an ND, they will find that they can't. Throw in roll bar head clearance requirements and you'll see the problem becomes even worse. Stop perpetuating the myth that tall people can fit in the Miata. It's a great car but is a sad compromise for anyone over 5'8" and/or over 25 bmi.
I own 3 Mazdas. 2 cx5’ s and a 99 Miata. I would have bought a nd Miata by now if they offered a bright red or medium metalic blue. Except for the 30th anniversary orange, the miata colors for the last 9 years have been a snooze fest.
What would I like to see in the next generation Miata? I would like to see it not show up for a LONG LONG time. The next-generation Miata is likely going to be electric or hybrid, which will ruin it in my opinion. It would add weight and remove the manual transmission option. When the Miata goes electric is when the Miata dies in my opinion. For the ND3, I wish they had changed the front look a bit by shrinking the grill and making it less "smiley" (I'm assuming the grill didn't change, couldn't see it well in the video).
Miata has to be ONLY PETROL, not hybrid, i'd never buy an electrified miata, ever. If they will ever introduce an hybrid miata, I'll stop even considering it. And I know I'm not alone in this.
What would be the point without the sound? Sports cars are already very niche, only gay ass lib millennials and Gen z’s would consider an EV sports car.
the MX5 needs more torque and hp. If it had 250 for both it would transform the car. Current torque rating of 151 is truly wimpy. A small inline 6 would be awsome, love the silky smooth I6 on my TR6, plus an I6 gives the best exhaust note
Because if the MX-5 had 250hp, it would be too fast to enjoy on public roads without losing your license or life. With 250, no way can you rev it to the redline in all the gears and keep a reasonable speed.
I too liked the concept and I too not an EV guy. If that concept comes out as an EV, then looking at something north of $70K and that would be a hard NO. Would like to see a new RX at close to a Z in price and much less then the Supra. I was disappointed with the Z and the Supra. We need more options!
I like my NC. This looks decent but I see overall downgrade in daily life quality. Ex. shittier seats, smaller space, less storage. As a daily driver practicalities are more important to me than the other mechanical qualities or aesthetics.
If Mazda simply allowed an engine with 100 additional HP, which for my car would be about 233 HP, it would sell a million of those alone! It would make the Miata/MX-5 the car it should have been from the beginning! I’m not a speed guy, I’m more interested in handling, and in rowing through the gears, but a little more speed? I wouldn’t kick her out of bed!

Green with tan or brown interior!
Some blues like Laguna seca, Santorini , Yas marina and the new color of the Maserati Cielo would be awesome. Lotus yellow would be awesome too, liquid yellow
No you're confusing zircon sand with a basic beige color. Sand colorways extremely popular with the youth, especially with apparel.
Don’t encourage them, do we want to see a rainbow coloured car with Hello Kitty decals all over ?

I love it.
Me too, i love every second and every km
I've owned every version of Miata since 1989. Most recently, a 22 GT convertible. Suggestions: bring back the seat height adjustment as offered on the NC for us shorter drivers and increase the comfort of the seats. Bring back a true PRHT in which the lowered top completely disappears. Provide better (more convenient) location of cup holders. Provide easier access to trunk release and fuel filler release levers. Provide a dual clutch transmission option. Provide more exterior color options (richer: dark blue, dark green, etc). Yes, I'm not young anymore, but I still love my Miatas !
WOW . . . you are dedicated to this car:)
Yes! Especially a PRHT with real glove compartment and real cup holders on door?
More seat adjustment for shorter drivers is absolutely needed.
Mazda is killing it right now. I personally know multiple people that have switched from BMW and Lexus, and others that have been considering it as a 'Almost Luxury' when looking for a new car, comparing it to Mercedes, and BMW.
I switched from Audi. No regrets at all.
At 2 grand per side? No thanks.
@The_Andvarius totally, but would rather it be an option instead of paying $$$ afterwards
That's awesome. How did you adjust the roof opening speed?
@@dannysamimi954 just bought a devices for it. At flyn miata web site. Then i installed it
Brakes and better tires as well?
If the turbo this car the engineers should go to jail
My RF is great the way it is. I’m 5’ 11 and very comfortable once I’m inside. Additional colors would be nice. Maybe British Racing Green
with a tan top. I would buy one in a heart beat. But I will never get rid of my RF. I would just ad to my collection. 😊
i hear the wind buffeting is really bad..that's why I'm on the fence
Mazda has got to squeeze that inline six into this
Not in the form its in now, it would be useless.
They need to get rid of the antenna on the back side. This isn't the nineties
You and me both . . .
I hope Mazda does NOT make the Miata bigger again. It’s currently designed for guys of average height, plus a bit more:
“According to the latest CDC stats, these are the average heights for U.S. adult men based on age: Ages 20 to 39: 176.1 centimeters, or roughly 5 feet, 9 inches.”
If you suffer from excessive height, I’m sorry, but sometimes life’s unfair! The car is just not for you. Complaining about the Miata’s interior if you’re 6’3” is like a shorter man dissing the game of basketball ‘cause it’s harder for him to reach the basket. Ridiculous? Of course. Same here.
Let's go Mets!
A Rotary RX-7 and an I6T RX-9 would be an amazing offering
If it has an i6 then it's no longer an RX.
I love Dave Coleman. He's kind of scarce these days 🤷♂️
He doesn't love us anymore. You can tell him I said that.
How about a nice big glove compartment like I have in my NBFL (including a passenger seat airbag).
I don't get it when you talk about new wheel packages, when the wheels are painted black powder coated black or deep gray they all look black?
I bought a 2022 Grand Touring back in February and have no regrets.
I would be okay with a hybrid NE Miata, but it must be lightweight and manual still. I personally love the targa design, but would be nice to reduce the blindspots a lot if they can add more glass on those rear pillars. Having said that, I'm awfully tempted by the idea of an ND3.
Lithium batteries would make a lightweight option impossible.
Yeah no to the hybrid don’t need more complications and a bunch of battery weight. Simplify and lighten!!
Those safety features are a must. I love driving hard, but sometimes you just are commuting in traffic. Those features make relaxing easier.
Of all the bits we talked about, that is probably the one I am most excited to test . . .
@@MotoManTV I look forward to that review!
I have a 97 m edition and I love how they have tan with black on the interior, it gives it a nice looks. Hopefully they do something similar
I only like the soft top. Has better lines. But my stupid dealer in my country only wants to sell the RF.
Rf looks pricier
My biggest regret about not waiting for the refresh is that the Bluetooth will probably be quicker to connect when the car starts.
Dave Coleman is the kind of who will make sure Mazda makes fun to drive cars.
🥰🥰 I'D BUY a MIATA over any FERRARI, LAMBO, ETC! 🥰🥰 my garage would have a Miata and 911.
The infotainment screen and tech was the glaring drawback to the ND1 and ND2. Glad they updated it to what my 21’ CX5 and CX30 has. Hope to have an ND2 or ND3 in my garage soon.
I don’t mind the size of the screen in my ND, I just wish it had a higher resolution and better contrast. The colors are a little dull.
Steering was addressed in the episode.
Love the variety.
I regret not buying a TT. The interior of those things is a work of art.
ND3 broke my brain. I couldn’t remember the Miata generational naming scheme until you said it
I would love if Mazda put the Wankelectric powertrain of the concept car in the upcoming NE Miata. I like small cars, my first was a P. Fiat 126p with 2 cylinders and 26 horsepower, but please make the Miata a bit bigger. I do not want to get crushed in an accident.
‘Wankelectric’, couldn’t agree more 😂. I love my 2.0 MX5 RF 🎉
Didn't they fix their transmisio's issue?
I've heard that in EU only 1.5 engine will be accessible. 134 HP. Not too much. Can anyone confirm?
I drawing blanks at the Coleman Jones at the moment, but yeah, that concept they showed is stunning, absolutely gorgeous.
I expected at least TWO jokes from you, Amro!
@@MotoManTV next time, M. The flu is kicking my butt.
Yeah, I don't change the Miata too much. Need to keep it the overall look and drive to train.. maybe a turbo 2.0 would be fun. Would like to see wide wheels and tires.
I agree. I have an nd 2 rf.
Cheers
You will not have to wait long . . . first event I took the car goes live this coming Saturday . . . Followed by the PDI test drive video later in November . . .
@@MotoManTV exciting! Reminder is set 🥂
more power but the transmission can barely handle its current power. did they fix the transmission issue?
Baby poo crème is a lovely color indeed
My personal horror story: I sold my 2004 MazdaSpeed MX-5 when I had kids and bought a RAV4.
Would like to have a power steering option that feels more like a manual steering and feel more road.
The Miata is dire need of some more colors especially a BRG we need the green Mazda… I’d be buying one new if so!!
What is the difference between a Coleman(tm) cooler and (Dave) Coleman's back yard? One gets emptied of tin cans, and the other accumulates them.
EXCELLENT! Best one yet . . . However, Mrs Coleman will be the final arbiter.
The NE1 should have 1: more vibrant color options 2: an E-LSD w/ various modes 3: higher power to weight ratio. The rest is keeping the natural progression of Jinba Ittai of the previous models.
Not so sure about a e lsd but yes to the rest!
NE, NF, NFM are all Mazda chassis designations for the Fiatta and Abarth variant. The next Miata will be NG = Next Gen.
Could you ever see Mazda shoehorning their new Straight-6 in a MX-5 or a next generation variant?
Too big & heavy. Plus the power output would put it closer to a supra 4 cylinder and entry Cayman competitor. At that point best to leave the Miata as is and offer an RX-7/8 Model as a Halo performance coupe above it
While I know we would ALL love it, they won't do it.
@@MotoManTV Thanks for the reply, but may I ask why they won't do it? Especially if it's something their clientele would embrace?
Mazdaspeed?
We ALL would love a Mazdaspeed ANYTHING, not just a Miata.
Just bought the ND2 for a few $k off and so happy with it. Btw what shoes are those? I want soft leather sneakers and can't find
Plus the big 3 will make sure ICE aren’t outlawed in the US any time soon.
they cant build an RX7 for normal road use since the wankel engine doesnt meet EU emission guidelines :( unless its in a hybrid
Targa on the lift. Nice. ✅👍🏼
Wish that one was my car . . . my buddy who's hangar that one is, he bought the car from the original owner about a year or two ago. He's got a 2023 GTS Targa to go with it. I hate him:)
Would love to see a future inline 6 Miata!
It wouldn't be a Miata. Maybe a Cosmos Convertible
Wish they would bring back the BRG with tan interior
Great combo . . . a good friend of mine had that exact car with the Nardi steering wheel from Mazda.
I think I'll be keeping my lovely Soul Red ND2.
Nice Nanchang by the way (Chinese Yak52 - I used fly a '52).
I need it to go 1 1/2 inches higher - lol.
GOOD! I may start calling him that:)
I almost bought one yesterday... I'm so glad I waited.
Main thing I’d want is seats that accommodate a wider range of heights. I barely don’t fit.
Great video
2024 will be the 8th year of the ND. Pretty much every generation miata has lasted around 8-10 years
16-24= 9 production models.✌️
Im 6ft and could fit just fine in mine
Mazda should release a performance model with a tuned version of the 2.5 liter from the Mazda3.
My ND1 is already perfect ❤
Miatas are great, but when the coupe came out, something about the proportions, esp in the rear, to my eye seems off.
A 8,500 RPM, 225hp N/A engine should be the sweet spot for Miata.
That brown interior is absolutely heinous
The concept car shown in Japan is 3,200 lbs and rotary engine hybrid. It’s an RX not a Miata
Classic and risky color palette, English race green, France blue, silver, yellow, fluor yellow, violet (ultraviolet)
the targa style looks goofy on this car, the C-pillar looks like the old Triumph GT6+
I own 3 Mazdas. 2 cx5’ s and a 99 Miata. I would have bought a nd Miata by now if they offered a bright red or medium metalic blue. Except for the 30th anniversary orange, the miata colors for the last 9 years have been a snooze fest.
I wish the car was lighter, the exterior smaller, but I wish they studied the Fiero to make the interior bigger.
RX7 concept car is awesome! I won't go full electric either.
For the ND3, I wish they had changed the front look a bit by shrinking the grill and making it less "smiley" (I'm assuming the grill didn't change, couldn't see it well in the video).
epas is somthing I cant get to grips with, if the steering is better might be a great thing.
Coleman is an accountants worst nightmare, until the cars become volume sellers, then he becomes their best friend.
The 184hp and the 6.5s 0-100 aren't bad but ideally it should have 250 to drift it like a king. You have to add a supercharger
Because if the MX-5 had 250hp, it would be too fast to enjoy on public roads without losing your license or life. With 250, no way can you rev it to the redline in all the gears and keep a reasonable speed.
More power. Not a ton, but much more than 4 bhp.
I too liked the concept and I too not an EV guy. If that concept comes out as an EV, then looking at something north of $70K and that would be a hard NO. Would like to see a new RX at close to a Z in price and much less then the Supra. I was disappointed with the Z and the Supra. We need more options!
Can’t wait till they start selling Speed Variant of cars
It will be like Waiting for Godot . . .
I like my NC. This looks decent but I see overall downgrade in daily life quality. Ex. shittier seats, smaller space, less storage. As a daily driver practicalities are more important to me than the other mechanical qualities or aesthetics.
I’d love a little larger Miata for us!😀
If Mazda simply allowed an engine with 100 additional HP, which for my car would be about 233 HP, it would sell a million of those alone! It would make the Miata/MX-5 the car it should have been from the beginning! I’m not a speed guy, I’m more interested in handling, and in rowing through the gears, but a little more speed? I wouldn’t kick her out of bed!
