    The practical choice is to not have kids, & buy the Miata.

      Have kids, buy every kid a Miata and then make a tour together

    • @SteveGergetz
      @SteveGergetz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      to Anton Zuykov - I have 5 kids, and by your math (which may indeed be accurate) they'll end up costing me $2.5 million by the time I've gotten them to adulthood. And make no mistake about it...there is NOTHING that money can buy that even remotely comes close to the joy that can come from a life devoted to large family. I'd rather have my meager but rich family life than $2.5 million (or ANY sum of money). I'm hopeful that in the next couple years (as my 4th child is just about leaving the home) I may FINALLY be able to get myself a Miata after 25 years of wanting one desperately, and I'm okay with the wait. It was more than worth it.

      I will definitely get this car in the future, in a few years maybe. I am sick of driving a sedan all the time, most of the time I don't carry more than myself. If I get a work car like a truck or anything 4 doors, I will definitely get this.

    Daily driving an MX5 is a joy. You get a certain satisfaction by fitting your things into it. I did a 2000 mile road trip in my NA and it was fantastic! I hope I own an ND one day soon. I miss having a Miata.

    Soul Red RF 2.0 Sport Nav is my daily and I freaking love it. You know from the online reviews what a great car it is on country roads and indeed in town. What you don’t know is it is an AWESOME motorway cruiser, comfortable enough, excellent acceleration 60 - 70+, braking spot on, darts between lanes. In Sport Nav got cruise which is nice, blind spot warning incredibly useful. Just did a 200 round mile trip today, a ton of fun, got to destination to collect daughter, turned straight round and drove home. Got home in comfort, not fatigued at all. Cannot recommend this car to you enough, miles of smiles. I’m lucky I no longer need a bigger car as a daily - I treat the boot as a large steel kit bag, everything I need/use squashes in and then some. For the idiots who decry it for lack of horsepower - IT DOESN’T MATTER - if you’re a decent driver you will love it. Get one!

  • @MrMeoow91
    @MrMeoow91 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I got my ND RF in May and I already put over 8000km on it as a daily. It is not that bad, I can go light shopping without much issue. I am getting 7.2L/100km with occasionally taking it to the hills and highway driving. I think the greatest strength of this car in town is how small it is and very easy to park.

      Better than a Spyder? This is indeed a compliment, thought hard to believe (no offense, the Spyder is just that awesome). However, how large (or small) are you? I own a Spyder, and it's just fantastic beyond words. I drove a NC Miata a while back and felt like I was stuffed into a pillowcase. I'm not huge, 5'11" and 175 lbs. Still felt like a sardine in that thing. The ND ticks all the boxes for a replacement on that inevitable day of grief and misery when the Spyder finally gives up (will hang on to it as longs as I can, tho, even when it gets unreasonable). I would love to hear comparisons about the cockpit and thrashability between the ND and the Spyder from someone who has owned both. Test drives are NOT ownership, it takes a bit of time to really get to know these little fellas.

    I drove my RF in the worst snow storm Lake Tahoe had in 10 years (Feb 2016). I mounted snow chains on it to get out of there as soon as I could. Honestly, the car was slipping all over the road due to summer tires, but it was balanced like a pro. If I had known there was going to be a snow storm, I would've taken a 4x4 instead, but my MX-5 somehow got me through snow and slush without a scratch.

It's the ultimate grocery machine, you can put a hideaway tow hitch on it that takes seconds to take off it to bicycles and what have you around, it won't break down, and it's the funnest gd car to drive on the market.

    I have a '16 ND Sport that is my daily driver in New Hampshire, year round. Granted, I am retired, I don't have to go to work in the middle of snow storms, but with a full set of Blizzaks it is fine in snow, good weight distribution helps. It is perfect on the back road two lanes that are 95% of my driving, it gives me 36.7 mpg doing so. The original tires only lasted about 20K miles though, perhaps a result of almost never traveling in a straight line for very long.

    While there are circumstances when a Miata will never work as a daily driver, for 90% of the time, it is not an issue. I have an NA and NB (two different locations) and while it does require a bit of planning when coming back to the car with a cart full of groceries, I've never had an issue not being able to fit everything in there. I have a bike rack for the NA. Now for runs to Home Depot, I do scratch my head a bit, but have two solutions when I need more car. 1. Friend with truck/suv or if really needed, rent a car. Disclaimer, no kids or pets. PS- How is that cast iron skillet??

    I'm full bolt on, on the stock turbo so this thing is way quicker than it has any business being.
    And I can get a few months worth of shopping in the back.

    When your friend talks about kids, you counter with a 2 seater as being practical. A nice sedan would’ve been a better option, but really, as a father of two with a RX-8; I can see the appeal of suv/van ownership now; or even a Prius for a kid mover; and something like an FD RX-7 as my personal driving experience car.
    Right tools for the job.

    The MX is the 1.5 UK icon special we average around 38mpg ( imperial gallons )
    The i30 around 48mpg.
    So as far as we are concerned you can have your cake and eat it.
    I've also seen low mileage nd mx's for around- £14000.
    That in my opinion is how you can make owning one of the greatest roadsters and having a practical daily driver a viable proposition.

    i have a pacifica hybrid in addition to my 2019 RF club...the solution is to have both (or more!) :D Love the CPH, we put gas in it maybe 8 times a year...

    Reminds me of a Honda DelSol. Which, at the time, was their answer to compete with the Miata. I've owned two Miata's, and for me a full soft top is the only way to go.

      Tried the RF and soft top, the RF in my opinion is just a bit better to live with as a daily. I appreciate the soft top for a weekend ride though. I am 5'7 though so the height loss doesn't actually affect me.

    25 mpg on premium. i was getting 25 mpg in my 09 mazdaspeed 3 250hp 296tq.
    gladly downgraded to a prius getting 55 plus mpg. def makes me a granny driver. can't really drive aggressive with 100 horse. no fun either. :(
    i was only getting 17 mpg driving a 93 rx7. the fun factor justified the gas consumption.

    I have a phase 3 2014 Miata, I get 30 mpg and drive it top down summer and winter, that's right 25 above zero 70 mph down the freeway. What a blast, great hangover cure.
