  • As you know, I picked up the Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse Rod earlier this year for BFS fishing. Well I finally got around to catching some fish on it...
    Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse BFS Rod (Unboxing & First Impressions): • Dobyns Sierra Ultra Fi...
    This rod seems to be perfect for what I bought it for: small plastics such as Ned Rigs. I think it will be a blast to chase bass in the 10-16" class on because they will put up a really nice fight! Additionally, this will still work for larger panfish which is a nice plus. I could see it being a fine crappie rod. That said, it feels like it has enough backbone to handle big fish too.
    Stay tuned as the waters warm up. I plan to do some more river smallmouth fishing with this stick throughout the summer!

    Throughout 2021, I am going to track my total species count using Mule Jigs. All of the fish caught will be placed on my Instagram Story Highlights for easy tracking. I will do my best to track my progress on TH-cam as well. I encourage everyone to join me in the challenge if they think it will be fun! I would love to see if you can beat me on total species count :)

    I remember that color combo working there when we last fished together, seems like they really like it at that location. My local lake, they will eat anything as long as it has a chartruse head. 🤙🐟

      Yeah the Pasture Fire does well around here. Lots of lakes have so many small Bluegill that I think the fish like orange.

    Haha fanny pack season!!! Yeah yeah yeah! Gosh dang I love that bank fishing for smallies. A couple of nice chunkers. Change to the pond for some largies (and a crappie for good measure). Didnt know they had a Whopper Plopper 60. I thought the 75 was the smallest size they had. I've got to pick one of these up. I'm glad you got to bend that new Dobyns rod Ethan 👍

    What’s the weight of those small lures you throw for bass? I usually do 1/8, haven’t tried smaller because I haven’t found a nice rod to throw 1/32-1/16

    I know you don't show it, but how often do you get snagged? Do you lose a lot of jigs? Just asking.

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I try to show it usually but sometimes it is pointless and I don't want to waste your time. I only snagged a few times that day though - broke off one jig. I tend not to lose much gear but that is predominately because I use really light weights which do not get bogged down on the bottom.

  • @lakrabid

    How whippy is that rod? I want BFS but not a limp noodle. And I love me some Dobyns. Have 3 of their rods

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is definitely not whippy! It’s like a toned down Texas rig rod. Stout feeling but has bend when the pressure is applied. Soft enough tip to give it casting distance on 1/16oz jigs.
      I’d say if you want a bfs setup for ned rigs, this is a great option. The Shimano sensilite 7’ L is also great for about 1/3 the price.

    What's up ethan I just got my first order crime mule today. I was wondering if you could recommend a good ultra light spinning rod and reel that I can buy for around 125$

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there River Rat! Thanks for the support first off. Secondly, for $125, I think you will be able to get a very nice ultralight rod/reel. I plan to do some more experimenting with rods but I would look into something 5 to 6 feet in an UL power. I like my Daiwa Presso 4pc Travel Rod and my Shimano Sojourn. I have also heard good things about the Okuma Celilo. For a reel, I would get a Daiwa or Shimano in a size 1000. The Revros LT 1000 has been really good to me and it is like $45!

    Is the Dobyns worth the extra money over the Sensalite for bass fishing?

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard question to answer. It is definitely a higher quality rod but if I did it all over again, I would probably just fish a Sensilite. They have an almost identical weight distribution and taper to them.
