  • .. how much Amps Makita 18V x 2 Chainsaws
    DUC400 16” (400 mm) needs from its two batteries ???? ..
    .. from 8 to 25 usually around 18 A in my case only cutting 4 by 4 posts ..
"Amperage" is the strength of a current of electricity expressed in Amperes.
That means power is Voltage times Amps in Watts ..
    In this case 8 to 25 A depending of the thickness of the wood and hardness , oiling of the chain, tightness of the same .. which gives you about 36 V times 10 A = 360 Watts up to 25 A x 36V = 900 W .. 😀👍 ..
    .. 648 W = 36 V times 18 A .. Average power, not bad .. 😀👍 ..
.. And you can run it in that mode for about 18 min .. With no breaks .. With 5 AH batteries ..
    Empty run ( no load run ) is about 4 A times 36 V = 144 W ..
No load electric current is 3.5 to 5.5 Amps ..

Thanks for doing this. This is the kind of stuff I like to see. I've used mine to saw the equivalent of over 20 bush cords of 20" nominal hardwood logs and noodle them into small pieces. I've worn out a sprocket and a 16" bar. Great saw, Makita.
When cutting wood larger than the bar I suspected that the saw is using around 1000 watts or more. I'm guessing at this because of what I know about the individual lithium cells in the battery. You were showing as much as 25 amps with just 4 by 4's. Cutting full length or noodling 12" pieces should up the amp draw a little from what you're seeing. At 36V 30 amps is 36x30 = 1080 watts, right in the ball park I was thinking. I would love to hear the actual amp draw when cutting a 14" log at it's widest point.
It's curious that the power of corded saws is always expressed in watts, but battery saws never disclose a power output. Volts are meaningless to express power without the amps. Being brushless these battery saws likely do more work (more efficient) than corded saws. They can cut more wood with less watts.

Ivan Alar and canada, let me guess, croatian ?
Idk if you know croatian my brother, therefore im gonna ask you in english. So, tell me something informational. When you turn on that chainsaw and put it aside, how much time it passes until the light from power/standby goes off. Cuz i like the saw, but my father is short tempered, might destroy it if the saw constantly turn offs. For example, he cuts one log, and he wants to move it, and if he wants to continue he has to start the saw again. It might frustrate him, so, can you see how much until the saw shuts off. He cant operate gas chainsaws anymore, so im very interested in that same makita

@@IvanAlarflying thank you very much. You can just start the saw and see how long until the light shuts off. Btw. here is little gift, its an old folklore song from Lika th-cam.com/video/ZvW5hjODmBk/w-d-xo.html . I wish all the best for all of your family and your children. Many greetings to croatian diaspora in canada from croatia !

@@i1bike thanks to you man I love traditional songs of every country ..
NOTE: This chain saw employs the auto power-off
function. To avoid unintentional start up, the main
power switch will automatically shut down when the
switch trigger is not pulled for a certain period after
the main power switch is turned on.
So they don not say ??
I had to try it myself .. And the answer is 60 seconds and if you press it at 59th sec it works but after 60 sec the power button light is off ..
Moji su iz okolice Gospica ..
Jos jednom hvala na razgovoru i pracenju te puno pozdrava tebi i tvojoj porodici .. 👍😀 ..
