As a big Milwaukee fan boy, I greatly appreciate dewalt. I love their new innovations I hope to see in Milwaukee. As much as we all joke about the other brand being inferior or some mean it. Without each other we don’t get the competition. Which benefits everyone! Great video!
@2216sammy I wasn’t alive then. But their quality is still top of the line with companies, like dewalt, festool, snap on, and a few others.
@@WyattThePilotYT I started out on dewalt, and recently switched to Milwaukee due to lack quality on dewalt’s part. The new impacts are so bad, I just can’t make myself use them
Brand loyalty hurts everyone. It hurts the consumer and it ultimately hurts the company receiving the loyalty. If everyone did their homework for every purchase and tried to find the best combination of price, performance and quality in a given product generation, everyone would be better off. Consumers would get better products and manufacturers would learn very quickly to not rest on their laurels and to keep pushing and innovating. True for every product class ever made from cars to tools and everything in between. John Deere and their anti consumer practices is what you get with blind, undeserved brand loyalty.
One time I was hole sawing some sheet metal for cable penetrations. The hole saw caught the metal sheet spun the metal sheet out of the clamp and into my arm while coming of hole saw. The spinning hole saw proceeded to catch and wrap my shirt spinning the drill battery up around into my face. Busted my upper lip, pushed the back of my bottom lip into my teeth and left a gnarly bruise. Wish I had that anti rotation tech that day.
Hole sawing metal is always a challenge. My favourite for this is the Hilti 18 volt drill. I use the clutch on the highest setting and it leaves enough pressure to keep the saw going yet gives when it catches. The other problem is you can bend the mandrel when it catches. I use 1/2 inch shanks only.
I really hate that every time I watch these reviews I have to run out and buy it.
Back in the day my boss said that one trainee / apprentice was using a corded Hole Hawg, drill bit caught his shirt by the tummy , that guy thought he was dead.
Been a DEWALT man since 1994. And just about all my corded tools have been replaced by DEWALT cordless along with trim and nail guns.
Currently rocking a DCD805 at work. Typically used for drilling through metal. Works a treat in tight spaces. May consider grabbing the new drill for my tougher jobs.
It’s always good to see jimmy talking about DeWALT. Great video guys!
Yup he's improved alot . But needs a little more improvement on those leaning pizza tower drilling 😂 at times
Man Jimmy, that new drill looks sahweet! Glad you got it. I’d love to see it in action on a TTR up against everything…DeWalt’s previous gen, Makita xgt, FLEX, and whatever else you can throw at it. TTR BABY!
Anti-rotation technology
AKA
“The wrist snapper” 😂
milwaukee and dewalt just keep one-upping each other --- great for us tool dealers and the end-users both!
I'm am all dewalt myself, but for drills, what does this do that the milwakee doesn't? Didn't they already have the kickback protection?
Did milwaukee ever add the electronic clutch to their drills?
There is one problem that these drills have with the electronic clutch that I've noticed on the 996 and 999 and that is when you put the gear selector Into Gear 1 and you put the clutch say into setting clutch 1 and you hold on to the Chuck and squeeze the trigger the amount of torque that it takes to get the electronic clutch to stop is different in each speed so gear 1 clutch 1. has a different torque limit then Gear 3 clutch 1. It's something I've never seen any Testers/ TH-camrs notice. But as a woodworker, it makes it so you cannot use these drills because the torque setting constantly changes if you drive 10 screws, they'll all be different depths even at the same clutch setting. I would really like to see you guys do a deep test on the clutch. In different gears and different settings to see if these new drills are also very inconsistent? I wish they would go back to the old, ball detent clutches where you knew it was going to slip no matter what gear or clutch setting you were on the same time on every screw these just don't seem to do that with the electronic clutch. So, I still have to keep around the old models with the old clutch to get everything I need done. I'd like to be able to do it with one drill, but I just don't get the consistency. Thanks for your time, great video I would love to see more tests too.
I have experienced the same issues.
I asked for my old Makita driver back.
I'm not sure if you experience inconsistency in the same gear settings, but I can see why the E clutch would be affected by the speed settings.
The E clutch is likely measuring the load on the motor using the same brains powering the brushless motor.
I didn't think about how that would affect things but you make a good point about the unintended downsides.
One area the DeWalt flagship drills have issues is in the clutch. Can you test that out and see if they've improved it on this model?
Amazing Review, From the music to outdo to intro, to simplicity but effective testing and just awesome amassing energy. Literally a mini move great editing and output on this one bro
Ppl saying oh too bulky too heavy. Brothers if you're complaining about thos two things stay away from the trades. Work at some office or supermarket. I said what I said
So I guess you carry a 3hp drill press hanging off your tool belt yeah? If you can't figure out how lighter and less bulky is an advantage, maybe stay outta the trades and stick to shoveling cow shit.
I want to see this tool run through all the batteries from 1.7ahPS - 4ah - 5ahPS - 6ah - 8ahPD - 8ahPP - 9ahFV - 12ahFV
bought this and it's my favorite drill ever. it's freakin' awesome.
Awesome VCG《☆》👍🏾🥤🤳I just bought the DCG415W1 Grinder package that came with the Fast Charger LUVVITT✌🏼😎☯️
Hello again, Jimmy and Vcg
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
It’s good to see the clutch finally working on these.
No contest for the DCD1007 👍💯
Great video I got the 995 this makes me want to buy this new one now. I can’t wait to see it up against some of the other drills out there.
thats some tough azz concrete tougher then anyone else i have seen on youtube with this drill
Yo Jimmy! Great display of the new hammer drill and battery. 😁👍✌️
I want to see the 1007 vs. the current M18 Hammer Drill. I've been holding off purchasing a hammer drill/driver for a while so that both brands update to their latest tech and I'm on both the DeWalt and Milwaukee platforms. My patients has paid-off and making a video going against each other will help me make my purchasing decision. 😊
My 996 disappeared a few months ago after a job but haven’t committed to the 998 or 999 since I had a corded drill. I am definitely gonna check this one out plus that new battery looks legit and never can get enough of the speed chargers!!
Wish they would bring back the black hard cases vs the soft yellow bags. Love the heavy duty hard cases
@@st7650 huge waste of plastic and they werent good enough to actually use them.
Very nice. How about FLEX 24v Turbo? Stacked lithium 6ah? Does dewalt compare? Outlast the 24v? And for hard tile or porcelain would you rather use milwaukee 18v or dewalt powerpack?
They are both more than capable for that application. Tile, porcelain, masonry. When you're out on the field, you use the lightest tool you can get the job done with. If you're reaching for the most powerful drill, you're going to fatigue yourself before your first break and by lunch you're pretty much useless. It's good to have it when you need it, but you'll wish you got something smaller and lighter for 90% of the things you do
The anti spin tech is nice, haven't had an issue with the XR Joist Drill which also has it.
Bro love it Dewalt is coming hard on drills I'm smashing my like botton Jimmy your the man
I love the look of my 999, not too thrilled about this new bulky stubby look. the new features look really great.
I drill ice fishing holes with a 8” auger in 20’ + ice. and my old 996 was replaced with 999 which was much better. Now this anti rotation will be a game changer !
After every 2x4 you make it through if you pull it back for a split second to get the wood shavings out then it won’t jam. They get stuck on the side of the bit if not and that’s what causes jams.
I,ve been using the 995 for years, I think it's time to upgrade!
The anti-Doctor-that-says-"does-this-hurt"? feature and the swivel light...I now want this.
any way of turning off the anti kick back like on the mil m18 fuel gen 4
Would you mix half bags of thinset with this tool?
Anti-kickback has been necessary ever since drills got this strong. Glad to see DeWalt finally catching up with Bosch.
All I can say is wow! 💯
An SDS Drill? Really? Not even close. Stop, just stop. There is absolutely no way that a typical hammer drill is ever going to compare to an SDS or SDS plus hammer drill.
@@jmackinjersey1 he said you should use an sds drill on the concrete he’s drilling, but if all you have is the 1007 drill kicking around, it’ll get the job done.
@@oskara1991could have saved your money not buying the hammer drill version and bought a real hammer drill later 😂
A circular LED light around the drill head is by far the best light location for any drill or impact wrench. Milwaukee is going to this design universally.
Fun tip : If you can find a Milwaukee storage bag , store your Dewalt tools in it when your on the job site . I never had another drill go missing again
id rather steal the milwaukee, atleast it wont burn out and die after i use it a few weeks haha,
@@TerryD5000 lol , my joke is actually reversed . The original one I heard was storing Milwaukee in a Dewalt bag, but since I’ve got all Dewalt .
They’re both good imo , and I use both . I find the batteries seem to fit looser on the Milwaukee though
@@MajorTendonitisbout to say, I'm a big dewalt fanboy for the impact wrenches and 60v stuff, but I'm pretty sure that, batteries aside, milwaukee still makes a better drill and driver.
I really want to see this drill in hammer mode shoot a 3/4 twist bit through a utility pole. I have an older model that has put tens of thousands of holes in poles 12” thick in like 2-3 seconds no problem. Matter of fact I based my productivity on how hot that bit stayed between poles. If the bit doesn’t feel hot we were moving too slow.
I'm confused on batteries, what's the difference from XR and the flex and the standard 5A or 8A batteries, I got the trim routers and drills an such but never learned the difference, and I assume all batteries work on all 20V tools that right?
I want to see this New Dewalt drill VS other cordless drill for TTR it well be so cool
Way to go dewobble that's an impressive drill
I have the 996 and 999 and love them
@@VCGConstruction the power detect bulky into speed 2 is a game change on upper 99 series
They need to offer this and the new 860 impact in a kit
That thing is nuts.
Im with you on dewalt. Dont use them for hammer srills though as they have plastic gearboxes that melt of get too hot.
I would like to see the new Dewalt hammer drill test against the previous generation 998 and 996
Playing catchup to Hilti. Hilti's had anti-kickback for several years.
Wait a minute. You guys have made countless videos on here showing how the drills have been able to easily use the spaddle bit, even the 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch and there wasn't a lot of catch and twist with the drill. The anti kick-back device is not new. Having a new/sharp bit helps, as well as holding the drill straight up and down and not tilting or leaning on the drill helps the bit go through the material as well.
im gonna get the new one when my porter cable dies
Awesome makes me want to buy Makita 40V.
More powerful because of better gearing and bigger motor not battery size as it states in the instructions and grease was too hot it liquefied,, and you would use a pilot drill bit first to save wear and tear on the drill and drill holes faster, liked.
Where do you get the $ to wreck perfectly fine 2x4s ?
Is the hammer mode as loud as the 999
As Raytard below posted about getting hit in the face , well similar thing happened to me drilling through a stud on a ladder . yikes . now i always just hold on to the battery at the bottom of the drill with my other hand to keep it from kicking .
Maybe Bosch 18v 1330cn?
It seems like when it started to get stuck it torqued up similiar to how milwaukee high output works
Lets do a comparison with Milwaukee M18 fuel drill
Vince looks pissed off 😂
I'd hate for that anti-rotation feature to turn on every time i use my drill as a hammer
Dewalt needs their Steve Jobs moment
cant wait to get this drill. here in the uk concrete is way harder than what you have , ther is no way that a percussion drill would get through that concrete in less than a minute , neither would an sds , your concrete is very soft
DeWalt dcd 1007 How many newton meters ?
Please use hearing protection and eye protection. Hammer function is very loud, and your eyes... You only get 2. Be safe. Happy tool times.
This is crazy I knew your voice not a familiar you really remind me of Luigi on that new Mario movie.
been waiting for this drill to come out to buy...i still dont see it at Home Depot yet July 31st 2024
Nice drill. Seems like a lot of weight for routine use, but very useful for tough tasks. I’m getting one.
Who does Vince think he is? Bob Hope??? Just comes in and doesnt even ask if he can play a round of golf through the middle of a movie scene....
@@VCGConstruction i understand....but your cousin Clint will have to be told about this.😁👍
do you want a more powerful drill with a bigger size or a smaller size? that's the difference between what you believe and what brand fits you. Dewalt gives old school stuff but is pretty reliable, their concrete nailer is simple and powerful but the size is extremely bulky.
Is getting smaller but adding power just impossible??
Might be time for a new drill
I use a impact now for most drilling, No more wrist snap!! Sust sayin!!
Say I like burning up my drill bits without saying it. Impacts tear up paddle bits way faster, they also don't like the run the self feeding ones at all. Impacts are so stupid tough on drill bits of any type. I mean punching some 1/4" holes trough a 2× or a piece of OSB no biggie but after that just get the drill and quit destroying those poor defenseless bits.
@@mattadams7922 I like drilling sheetmetal and spinning it into my arm!!
@@leadspittinlefty9618 buddy if you're sending paddle bits or self feeding into sheet metal you deserve whatever doom that drill swings your way.
@@mattadams7922 Never said paddle or self feed, I am using Impact rated Metal drilling bits.
You need the most powerful drill fof whats coming
Get Jim out of there, bring in a relief pitcher 😆😅🤣 Sorry Jim
Hilti for concrete though.
New Milwaukee vs dcd 1007,that only comes with 1 battery
I have 2 dcd796p2 and they are awesome they get the job well done for my needs
Hammer drills are just a kop out for a proper SDS drill your not drilling block/bricks or concrete with it. If you are doing these things expect a short life span of the drill
just wait when the switch goes and you have to fix it/ throw it in the garbage
honestly as someone who works commercial im not that impressed. this is a diyer's way to drill concrete. saw a video with someone saying your better off getting a drill without the hammer function and an actual concrete drill. if your drilling in concrete enough to justify one of these, do yourself a favor and get the right tools. not an all in one. I like the anti rotation but realistically get an impact, JUST a drill, and then bigger tools for tougher jobs and you will never run into these issues. its only when you push the tool past its limits do you need this stuff and in my opinion is not the best way to work.
Let me save yall some money. Don’t use hammer drills on concrete for anything over a quarter inch. I burnt up 3 top line hammer drills drilling 1/2 in holes in concrete. Could’ve bought 2 medium duty sds drills or one heavy duty one for the amount of money wasted.
They always have deals at Home Depot where you can buy a 6ah and 4ah battery and a charger for 200 and get a free tool one of the tools is the 5/8 atomic rotary hammer so between that and my bosch bulldog I never use my 996 hammer drill/driver for drilling into concrete
DeWalt for LIFE!
805 has more power than the 996. no way you’re using that as your daily
Well hell, Dewalt could improve torque by locking the spindle and mounting a 4ft pipe too since tool size is not considered😅😅😅😅😅😅
