I didn't know I didn't know that! Always wondered how those breakaway sinkers are made! Easier than I expected. I'll have to get myself a mould now. Most of the leads I make are for deep drops, 40 and 60oz for fishing 3-500m. These will make a welcome change. I like how tidy they stash away without the wire sticking out. Thanks for the vid
Wow that's deep stu. Where you fishing? And what for ?. I have done up to 300m for skate it's an insane depth. Ye they are good when storing them and the mould was cheap enough off eBay these are the DCA moulds
@@C3BFA For the deep drops we're fishing the Bay of Plenty down in New Zealand. Fishing for quality table fish like Bluenose, Groper and Gemfish, all with electric reels of course
That's brilliant David if you get stuck drop a comment on here I will do my best to help I don't recognize your name are you new to the channel ? If so welcome to cbfa Thank you Dave
@@C3BFA Hi Dave, I have been watching your channel since about November last year and really enjoying it. I'm a born and bred Swansea boy that can't wait to get back out fishing the Gower coast. Can you tell me what the rubber bands and the pins at the top (which gets clipped onto the rig) are called please as i'd like to get some. Thanks
Thats brilliant to hear and thank you David The runner bands are loom bands The clips for the rig are trident tackle roto bait clips Hope Thai helps thanks Dave
Spot on that mate, great video, going to make some grippers tomorrow night myself as the sea is way too big this weekend for fishing up here in South East Scotland.
Hi Dave like the video and it’s encouraged me to go buy a couple DCA moulds to make my own weights. I don’t know if you can advise the best STD 50mm loop wires to buy online as I have a problem ordering the ones with the small loop in bulk and when ordering they don’t give you the loop dimensions. I’ve ordered some already but the loop looks big it’s dimensions are 4.5mm inner and 8mm outer. Thanks
I haven't helped much lol. I find the shorter ones easier to work with but prefer the longer ones but if you put them in to far once the lead is moulded they stick out the side of the lead down the bottom
It depends where you fish really. Deep rock marks with tide 10oz My normal fishing on rough ground and mixed I use 6-7oz But then you might be flatty fishing and use 2oz I personally use 7oz 99% of the time
Ye that shouldn't be far off if you wait I will measure my wires later and let you know the size I have a digital caliper / vernier to get the size right
Give it a try and see the lead sets within 5 seconds after pooring Another option if you can do it is drill them out a faction bigger I haven't needed to do that but it's an option
See if this link works for you that's the one I brought www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DCA-3-6-7oz-WEIGHT-GRIP-LEAD-BOMB-DISTANCE-MOULD-LOOPS-BEACH-COD-SEA-FISHIN-/143149400855?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Thanks mark. I'm not sure what you mean 50mm is the length the loops are the same size on them all just some have longer tails than others
Sorry I meant the actual eye loops look way too big to others the ones I’ve got are 4.5mm inside the loop and 8mm outer.
I'm not sure I buy cheap eBay ones from Davey's fishing tackle
Thankyou for your help👍
I haven't helped much lol. I find the shorter ones easier to work with but prefer the longer ones but if you put them in to far once the lead is moulded they stick out the side of the lead down the bottom
Great vid mate but where are you getting lead that cheap? Can't find any for anywhere near £1 a kilo
This was about two years ago I bought this lead. Check with local roofers if you can

Shad in the UK is a lure
Wat size is your stainless wire
I'm sure these ones are 1.2mm stainless steel wires
Hi Dave, i have a mould but i lost one of the pins, any idea where i can get a spare?
I dont you could measure the one you have for diameter and buy a stainless steel rod on ebay maybe

My pins that go through the mould are a nightmare to get out any tips to make it easier? Other than that everything is pretty straightforward
Do u pull them before it's cooled like pull them strait away ?
@@C3BFA I try and pull them straight away before the lead totally sets
Give it a try and see the lead sets within 5 seconds after pooring
Another option if you can do it is drill them out a faction bigger I haven't needed to do that but it's an option
