1. I own a 2022 Model 3 RWD, that is much like your car. The locking glove box is genius. At first, I didn't understand this until I began to think about it. Most car robberies are "smash and grab" type of thefts. Crooks smash a window, let themselves in, and grab everything they can, including your vehicle identification information as quickly as possible. The locking glove box prevents these thefts. I go to ballroom dances and a couple of the girls that attend the dance put their purses in the trunk of their car because they did not want to carry large purses into the dance. Thieves easily used a crowbar to pry open their trunk and stole two purses. If they had put their purses in the Model 3 locking glove box, it's doubtful that the thieves would have been smart enough to know it is a glove box. But even if they did, the alarm would go off the moment they broke the Model 3's window, and it would be difficult to use a crowbar to get open the locked glove box. When I go the the gym, I don't want to carry my wallet into the gym with me. I put it in the glove box and locked the box with a code. Because Tesla has both hidden the glove box and has made it lockable, this will eliminate 99.99% of smash-and-grab thefts for Model 3 cars. I am very comfortable leaving my wallet in my car, knowing that it will be very difficult for thieves to steal. 2. It has not been my experience that the area around the door handles get scratched. The handles are awkward to use, the main problem I have noticed is fingerprints collecting around the handle. I have the grey colored car, so they are noticeable. However, it is very easy to wipe the fingerprints off with a microfiber cloth and it only takes a few seconds. 3. The frunk is somewhat useful, but I rarely carry anything in it. My car opens the frunk hands-free, but I do have to close it by hand. I don't mind that too much, but it does get fingerprints on the frunk area. Overall this is by far the best car I have ever owned. It is probably the best car made for the current cost of around $32,000 after the federal rebate in the USA. But even without the rebate, dollar for dollar, it is probably the best car made, and it beats most cars costing over $100,000 in some of the most important metrics like battery longevity, efficiency, sheer speed, handling and range. The Tesla UI and software are second to none. Everything works on the car, and you cannot say that about other EVs. The Tesla UI and controls make all other EV manufacturer cars look like dinosaurs from the stone age.
Great video! I’ve had my Tesla for 2 months now. I really love driving it but a few things I wish they would add for safety and convenience to daily use. 1) Heads-up display (for safety and convenience) 2)Individual lock and unlock buttons for the doors. I can’t express how much this is an inconvenience for me everyday. (For safety and convenience) 3) Sunroof. I don’t like rolling my windows down and being window to window with others at traffic lights but i do love fresh air. Sunroof would be great 😄 4) Better interior lights!!
Thanks for the video, it's always good to get Telsa owner's feedback. Just some things to make note of and keep things in perspective: 1. The glove box can be opened by voice command so no need to use the screen if you don't want to. But that said, rummaging around inside the glove box is not a common thing to do anyway. 2. It is pretty easy to adapt to the instant torque and regen braking and drive the car smoothly. It only took me a few drives. I guess you have a lead foot! Once you are used to it and you can avoid the temptation to tap into that effortless power everytime you accelerate, it is a smoother drive for all passengers than a normal car. I also think one pedal driving is easier than a normal car where you have to always use the brake pedal. 3. Range anxiety is a hot topic but it usually comes from non Tesla owners. For the sake of the 1 in a 1000 times you would need to use a fast charger, you will never have to visit a service station for fuel again. 4. The limited boot height is similar to many sedans, it's not necessarily because it's a Tesla. I guess this is one of the reasons why SUVs and hatchbacks are so popular. 5. I have owned expensive Mercs and BMWs (which I bought second hand and saved a bomb 😉) and they didn't have mud flaps either! 6. I haven't experienced the passenger phone key issue but will be interested to try to reproduce it. However, automatically unlocking and starting the car via my phone is so much more convenient than a traditional key I wouldn't care anyway. 7. Interesting comment about a manual gearbox but most ICE cars are automatics nowadays, they are more efficient and quicker than manuals. Most manufacturers don't even have manuals as an option anymore. 8. The AC adjustment is certainly different without vents but I also find the airflow more natural compared to other cars, maybe because it throws the air more evenly across the cabin, ironically due to the lack of vents! 9. My previous black car had heaps of nail scratches under the door handle, so no different to the Telsa handle potentially. This is really an issue with the colour of the car. Indeed, unless you are wearing oven mits, once you learn how to use the Telsa handle properly your finger tips are less prone to touching the paintwork compared to a normal handle. For me, the only thing that was an issue in the Model 3, is that the Model 3 and Y have no HUD. I added an aftermarket HUD, unfortunately not as seamless as a factory fitted option, but it does the trick. But then again, most new cars also don't have HUDs anyway and I find normal instrument clusters no more convenient than using the centre screen of the Tesla. Other than a missing HUD, nearly every criticism of a Model 3 is just about learning its features or how to drive it. I also think people start to take some of its unique and useful features for granted then expecting even more. For example, wanting an auto close on the front trunk is only an issue because the front trunk can be used for storage. I am not aware of any car that has an auto close hood and most other EVs don't even have a front trunk. That space is still taken up by mechanicals and some Merc EVs don't even let you open the front hood at all. You can always fit an aftermarket auto close! As you mention at the end of the video, there are many more things to say about a Tesla compared to other cars. I have owned some great and fun cars over the years but, so far, the Model 3 is way ahead.
Interesting but you didn't mention voice commands. I use them all the time. Generally quicker than the touch screen and no need to take your eyes off the road. Specifically, re the glove box, I believe the reason (or at least a reason) for no button to open it is security. That's where your Sentry USB drive is stored. When you want to open it, simply press the right button on the wheel and say "open glovebox". I think you're wearing an Apple Watch. Consider buying Watch for Tesla. Then you can use 'complications' on your Watch or Siri via your Watch to do many of the things you do by touch or voice in the car (but not opening the glove box 😕). Other apps are available but I haven't tried them.

Great video another kiwi here and future tesla owner. I didn't realise that Tesla left the proximity sensor on the left. In saying that I have seen other videos which say you can setup yourself as the main profile. This will overwrite any other phone keys and your profile will always be activated.

@@OmniGarage What you want to do is go to Bluetooth on the car screen and set your phone key to priority key. Now when you have 2 phone keys in close proximity to your car yours will connect first and go to your settings.
Very good points brought forward about EV ownership. Parts of the USA have a LOT of Tesla's, especially California where they have a pretty significant network of charging stations of all types. I've been to California about 4 or 5 times in the past two years and you see Tesla's pretty much everywhere. The problem here in the USA is that outside of California, you may have a problem finding charging stations depending on where you travel to or from. The larger cities have them but the USA is so vast, MANY areas don't have a significant charger network or no chargers at all. Supposedly the US Government is pushing for a more substantial charger network across the US to support EV's as more and more car companies are heading in that direction, but a "substantial" charger network is MANY years away. It will be interesting to see how far we have come in 10, 15, 20 years concerning EV's. Not so much producing the EV's as most manufacturers have committed to the EV future. The problem I foresee, is the CHARGER network supporting millions upon millions of EV's. Do you have to pay when you go to these charger stations away from your residence or can you just plug up for free? I definitely see that as a business in the future. Stopping at a charging station for some sort of 10 minute rapid charge for "x" amount of money. Free chargers away from the home will be non-existent once most people have converted to EV's at some point in the future and need the ability to charge their EV farther away from home. It will be just like buying petrol for your car now.
Completely agree, I think we have a couple of years before some sort of mass adoption and a removal of some of the EV perks, such as the free charging!
I really like the idea of EV's and they do seem like the perfect vehicle for a daily driver. With the rapid innovation in the batteries used to power them and more and more manufacturers committing to EV's now and in the future, no doubt the EV technology will progress at a fast pace. It really will be interesting to see what the motor vehicle market will look like in 20 years. They could have 1,000+ range batteries by then.
I live in small town 30 miles from NY city and a lot of my neighbors own Tesla because all families have more than two cars. So have one EV car and one gas car is a good choice. And most companies provide free charger at work and people even do not need to install charger at home.
In places like Atlanta there’s about 12 tesla supercharger location in and around the city, there’s also others like charge point and evgo not to mention hotels and apartment complexes have adopted chargers as well here…I just moved down here from the bay area and let me tell you there’s not a day where I don’t see every Tesla model back to back…
A really helpful video and I'm a real fan of your choice in getting the white seats. I am very curious though about the brightness. As a New Zealander living in Hawke's Bay I'd love to know how you find the kiwi sun with the whiteness of the white seats and the white strip along the dashboard. Do you ever wish you'd gone for the black seats, so as to dial down some of the brightness, or is it really not too much of an issue at all?
Hi Leon. I loved the white seats, and it never caused any problems with glare. Super easy to keep clean too, the seats show less “smearing” than black. I now have a Model Y with the black interior and still far prefer the white.
Opening the glove box is much essier than he says. Just say glove box, while pressing one of the two buttons on the sfeeruf wheej does it. You can even secure it eith a soft pin.
Tesla voice control isn’t particularly great at understanding the NZ accent! This command works most of the time, but I don’t trust it to get things right as much as Siri or Alexa would. Thanks for dropping a comment Wolf!

I had 2 kids in the car that allways gets car sick and they told me it was way better in my TM3LR and they did not get sick on the 3hour ride. If it is the driver or the car idk.
Guys this was a really good video! I am a huge Tesla fan and been a shareholder for a couple of years now so obviously love the cars and the company and follow most of the big Tesla youtubers, but still saw some stuff in this vid I have never seen before and also nice to be NZ focused for a change! I have wanted a Tesla for ages but if I am being 100% honest and I had the money sitting there right now, i would probably buy a GR Yaris lol. That's one of the problems here in Australia we don't have a lot of supercharger stations
