I have so much respect for Pete for doing this. Politicians should be open to this kind of real town hall. More effective than anything I’ve seen on television.
I really wish he was at least her VP pick. Tim wasn’t a bad choice, but Pete is intelligent, has great perspective, he’s a veteran, funny, is a great communicator, he’s understanding, and is mature while still being younger then most in DC… he just has a great personality overall. I hope Harris finds a greater role for him.
Exactly. Jill isn't going to win a single state nor will she come close in any state. I look back to 2012 when Gary Johnson ran for president. I live in New Mexico and a lot of people here love Gary Johnson since he's a former governor of New Mexico. Gary didn't even get 4% of the vote here and New Mexico was his strongest showing in the entire country.
Hey. So glad some people appreciate the tempo of this video. I was so sure that people would find the video boring. (I was in it) We were all so polite to each other, didn’t quickly vote each other off, and were letting other people go ahead of us. It was a very midwestern debate/conversation.
What people don't understand is that economy's don't turn around on a dime. It took my family 5 years to turn our finances around once we new what to do. Imagine how much time it takes to turn around an entire country as large and diverse as the United States.

If you're guilt voting for Jill Stein. The best thing you can do for the Green party is help build it from the bottom up. You can't run a congress or senate with 0 seats
Yup agree they can have a voice in Congress and build up an actual say in lawmaking. This would also be a creation of a third party which so many here complain about.
As a person from a country that does have multiple parties, I completely agree. It has been a long time (decades) before any third party has come close to winning the leading position, but they are getting closer by winning seats. In the meantime, their power is in choosing who they SUPPORT to be the next leader of the country, in return for assurances of support for their concerns and interests.
One thing I always find distinct with Pete from most other politicians - he (at least appears to) really listens to the fellow American he's talking to. You can tell when people are only listening for a chance to talk (like almost literally every minute of every political talk show interview). He's invested in the perspective of the person across from him. What mostly convinces me of this is Pete will rarely if ever respond to a statement with a canned campaign quote. His responses are bespoke to the context and language the other person presents.
The blonde girl in the red shirt shirt came in so passively angry; like she was only there to get a "gotcha!" moment, and looked disappointed she didn't get one.
You want to destroy the two party system but don’t want to do the work to really activate a true third party. You can’t wait until election year to speak of a third party. These things take years to get off the ground.
Exactly. They end up voting against their best interest. Then, they act like they are better than the rest of us while screwing the whole country over. I don't take these people seriously for that reason. Do the work to end the third party system first. Then, vote third party.
Pete is the absolute GOAT for this kind of circumstance. He seems genuine because he IS genuine. He talks to Americans who might disagree with him because he LIKES talking to Americans. He never seems like he's struggling to remain respectful because he ENJOYS civility. And all those genuine motives actually infect whoever he talks with . Pete's super power is how he organically causes whoever he talks with to enjoy elevating the conversation while its happening. He pulls them into a self-reinforcing virtuous cycle of conversation that iterates always toward improving and becoming more cogent, generous and collaborative. It's masterful.
Exactly!! He is the type of person I wish we had in any office. This ability to reach across the fence and show care is very very sadly being lost because of how partisan and hateful our country is becoming, and I’m so glad to see that there are still people like him who can just care for the people in politics

Oh to be an idealist college kid. They want perfection over practicality. Politics can't appeal to everyone. You have to choose your best choice and if you don't like the choices get involved and change things starting at a community level. Pete understands this as someone who started out as someone who understands by running for office at the local level.
Yeah, props to Pete. If I were in his chair I would be screaming at these guys asking why they haven't looked into any of this if they're so undecided.
AOC quotes on Jill Stein are the best: "If you run for years in a row, and your party has not grown, has not added city council seats, down ballot seats and state electives, that's bad leadership. And that to me is what's upsetting. If you have been your party's nominee for 12 years in a row, and you cannot grow your movement, pretty much at all, and can't peruse any successful strategy...and all you do is show up every four years to speak to people who are justifiably pissed off, you're not serious. To me, it does not read as authentic, it reads as predatory.
The establishment only wants 2 party's. That's why. It's easier to cause more of a divide with only 2 villains. George Carlin had it correct " if voting really mattered, they would not let us do it".
Stein is a grifter. Lives a wonderful upper middle class lifestyle cosplaying as a presidential candidate every few years. If she cared about the greens she would be working to win over local and state government using that momentum towards federal government.
Exactly. Anyone who genuinely cares about having a 3rd party needs to do the groundwork to make a viable alternative. A protest vote is (at best) a waste in an election like this, but an organised movement to make a difference at the local level could genuinely make a change by next election.
@@Jay_Em10the more so issue is that an elected official can’t change anything if they aren’t elected. Casting a vote for someone that statistically cannot get elected in a 2-party system, even if they are an advocate for ranked voting, is a vote that doesn’t go anywhere. The best option someone has is to vote for someone within the two party system who either adheres to your other values or supports a ranked system. Sure it sucks, but nothing will improve if people don’t vote or vote for someone who can’t win

Pete has such a gift of explaining the facts without being judgmental. He speaks so clearly to the concerns of voters. It is such a pleasure to hear debates that are informative rather than condescending. Thank you!
lol "facts?" He strait up stated that democrats aren't trying to censor the internet, when kamala has explicitly said she wants to censor the internet for "misinformation". Meaning she wants the government to decide for us what misinformation is. He even got fact checked by Jubilee, and they are on his side with everything.
If the DNC wasn't corrupt, he would've been chosen instead. But they don't care about meritocracy, they care about racial and gender divergence. They are willing to risk losing the election by choosing someone who can't explain herself, and for what? If not something righteous like diversity, I think it's for something pernicious like she's a better state puppet and is more willing to do what the corporate donors want from her. She's more likely to go to war than someone like Pete and increase funding for the military industrial complex.
This is so great to see. Pete’s calm way of talking is so soothing and you can see him genuinely listening and caring about each person talking and trying to address each of their personal issues. One of the best pieces of media I’ve seen surrounding this election. So much hope

To be somewhat fair there is something to be said about taking your vote from dems for an election or 2 to get the point across to politicians that you want to see something closer to a 3rd party plan. FWIW, when he was mayor he basically did the same thing. Any Jill Stein follower really should watch the Medhi Hasan interview. She REFUSED to denounce Putin. It was shocking. She's also poorly qualified to be president, and Medhi made that abundantly clear.
I don't understand the young woman who voted for Jill Stein. She threw her vote away, because there is no chance for a third-party candidate to be president. To the young woman environmentalist, who is voting for Jill Stein: while those of us who also recognize the threat to our planet is real, sadly, voting for Jill Stein, just like years past voting for Ralph Nader was a vote against the Democratic Party candidate. Better to put your energy down ballot, on the local level. Or if you’re so committed, next election, run for a local position yourself. In your case, perhaps the municipal water department commissioner, etc.
Best comment. I was a young Nader voter, a passionate idealist like her. It's such an ineffective way to achieve anything. Start local if you want to see that kind of change, but be pragmatic with your state and national choices.
Sailor wants to leap, before building the steps. There has to be a starting point of common ground, which involves compromise, then steps towards the end goal. Otherwise you are in a space, all on your own, with no traction to make ground, to make a difference.
I’ve voted many times 3rd party. It’s important to let those of the two parties know there are many who disagree with both. That is why Kennedy and Tulsi going on Trumps team was the direction I wanted to see.

Thank you. Please stay engaged locally like the rest of us who vote green at a city and county level, sometimes at state level, but always dem at a federal level. We can impact local govt, which can in turn influence federal govt
I could see she was trying to be brave and not make things easy for Pete, even if the logic behind her challenges was ill-formed. She probably represents a lot of people who have similarly simplified complex issues in their minds. I’m sure she learned a lot from the interaction.
here is my problem with Stein, what does she do between Presidential elections, look at Europe, they have elected green party in every Parliament, but this year in the USA we have no members of the green party running in any congressional race, or senate race
I noticed she didn’t clap when everyone else did. Idk seems kinda rude to me when you’re all supposed to be supportive for these every day Americans voicing their concerns and she comes off as wanting to fight.
My impression is many people are expecting to be spoon fed exactly the information they personally are interested in and looking for - When political activity requires one to be searching for the information on their own and from as many sources as possible, even if the potential political involvement is limited to being a voter.
A website can be done by other people. Kamala is dead in the waters regarding her willingness to do interviews. And when she has done things like CNN town hall she reveals her ineptness.
Also voting third party won't do didly squat about it. Work for election reform within the parties or outside of them. Until then vote for the party closest to what you want that can win.
@@Hyde_Hilldon't be disingenuous. Voting for a third-party candidate can help third parties in several ways, even if they don't win. Here’s how: 1. Increased Visibility and Credibility: Each vote signals public support, which can increase media coverage and raise awareness. This visibility can help third parties build credibility, showing they have a genuine base of support. 2. Access to Future Ballots: Many states have rules that grant ballot access in future elections to parties that achieve a certain percentage of the vote. If a third party gets enough votes, they may automatically qualify for the ballot in the next election, saving time and resources. 3. Public Funding: In the U.S., if a third-party candidate for president receives a certain percentage of the popular vote, their party may qualify for public funding in the next election, helping them compete with larger parties. 4. Shaping Policy Discussions: When third parties gain support, major parties often take notice. They may adopt similar policies to attract those voters, so a third-party vote can influence the platform of larger parties. 5. Building the Party’s Infrastructure: Even if a third-party candidate doesn’t win, support can help the party grow by funding future campaigns, developing local branches, and attracting volunteers. Voting third-party can thus strengthen the party’s foundation, potentially making it a more competitive option in future elections.

Also voting third party won't do didly squat about it. Work for election reform within the parties or outside of them. Until then vote for the party closest to what you want that can win.
@@Hyde_Hillconcepts like pragmatism and strategy are lost on some of these dreamers...
@@Hyde_Hilldon't be disingenuous.
Voting for a third-party candidate can help third parties in several ways, even if they don't win. Here’s how:
More and more places are having votes on enacting ranked choice voting. Look into it.
The two party system will occur naturally
One of the things I like the most about Pete Buttigieg is that he's unflappable. Calm, cool, collected, no matter what. Complete professional. I'm so glad he did this!
He makes it look easy, but it's definitely not. Pete is uniquely skilled at explaining complicated issues.
He’s actively listening and so very supportive of Kamala. He’s proud to serve and meant to be President in 8 years
I hope Sailor feels smug and satisfied with her useless Jill Stein vote while she watches the planet burn
I love the way he speaks 😊 he’s like a teacher with compassion and helping you learn
and without coming off as condescending!!
That is what he is!
🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊
He is an actor and hasn't done one thing in 4 years in federal government of note...A professional politician!!
@hhbeatmaker1 you are not contributing to the conversation. You are trained to undermine the legitimacy of conversation because you desire attention.
now i need 1 republican convincing undecided
The first girl is not undecided at all lmao
ikr
neither the second one
She was too much of a fan girl to be undecided. It's as if she didn't understand that the purpose of the prompt was to get someone to challenge him...on the prompt.
and second one too, lmao literally a environmentalist and your ONLY options are someone who believes climate change and the other doesn't. they shouldn't be on this show.
Yeah, just skeptical, as most are
Voting for Jill Stein was my biggest regret of 2016. And I fear her disinformation continues to a younger generation.
Me too, the only vote I ever regretted.
She is a putin hack
Not me , it's better to vote green than to support Israel .
0⁰⁰
@@asdk3090whenever you vote in America, you support Israel. because we have been allies with Israel since around 1950
yes queen! your singular vote for jill stein is going to change the world! great work
Two words: Chris Wright.
The woman in red shirt is clearly not undecided voter. She wanted to appear smart but got booted hard.
A lot of these didn't feel undecided. More like people disillusioned with the process, because they know too much.
I thought the same as well. She was being rude, in my opinion
She didn’t come to learn she came to attack. The undecided voter needs to be willing to reach across the aisles. Attacks and unwilling to listen and comprehend is willful ignorance
@@T-Mab she was def being rude
yeah i just watched that part, even if she was undecided she’s clearly been watching a lot of fox news lol
