Mihawk is one of the most imposing figures in the world of one piece, there's a lot of mystery behind him, so in this video I discuss everything, from his early life where he was called the marine hunter, to his journey to become and maintain his status as the world's strongest swordsman. I talk about his connections to Zoro, Shanks, Imu, the God's Knights, and more. Hope you enjoy.

the point about shanks and mihawk both not having injuries from each other is the best point I've heard made about this stuff in a long time
Shanks has scars from Mihawk. He told WB about them. Theres no mention of mihawk ever being scared. Scars on the back are a swordsman shame and his front is spotless.

I think Mihawk would be less pissed about being replaced and more pissed about being copied. Like, the Government abolished the Seven Warlords only to recreate them?! There's weakness, and then there's dependency, and that's what enrages Mihawk the most about the whole Seraphim thing.
Mihawk is one of my favourite characters in the series not because he’s the Saitama of one piece swordsman but because of how laid back and cool he is, like you said bro is constantly just chillin and livin his best life untill he finds a stronger opponent and similarly with crocodile, I’m the most interested in the dynamic of cross guild

I can imagine that mihawk was the first greatest swordsman. Like not literally there were insane swordsmen before him but as in the title. Maybe he was just so far above anyone, having no crew and no other goal than being the best swordsman that he got that title as a reslut

What if he was a god knight who got the names of deserters from the marines and hunted them down for sport. I don’t see him getting a kick out of killing normal people like the other celestial dragons.

Honestly out of all the warlords I see Mihawk being more intrigued by his seraphim clone than offended. He very much is the type of guy to simply take the world as it is.

I believe so as well. I think his form will be demonic like the Gorosei. His name is Dracule. It's similar to Dracula and Dracula is a vampire/demon.

@@patricklukcy13 don't you think it would be boring if Mihawk stays the way he is though? like at Marineford and Baratie he stayed completely dispassionate, the fight with Zoro wouldn't feel like it had any stakes if that's how Mihawk really fights when he's serious... I don't think Oda would go that route, you gotta think Oda will make Zoro's final fight epic.
That's actually one of the things that convinces me that Mihawk must have a second form tbh... given that they trained together it's going to be hard to see their fight as real unless there's some kinda big difference... If Mihawk has like a "bloodthirsty mode" kinda thing, where he (nearly) loses control and it's clear he's trying to kill Zoro, that would make it feel more like a real fight, which I think the story needs to show neither one was holding anything back.
@freakydeaky1435 I feel like they could just show him entirely drawn into a fight with zoro. No need for devil fruits or extra forms. He's interesting because he's one of the world's strongest on his sqordsmanship and haki alone. Something literally anyone could do with the drive and time he has had.
Making him some final fantasy final boss won't make him feel like a mountain to overcome, it will make him feel like a monster in a field.

He was tired of reapainting his sword after every fight,so he became a warlord so he could finally have free time to do other things.

It's probably the influence of Naruto speaking (damn you, Kishimoto), but I feel that Mihawk's eyes weren't inherited from genetics, but are a result of an extremely focused observation Haki, and unlocked through training; and maybe Zoro didn't lost his eye, but rather unlocked the same kind of observation in that eye and keeps it closed at all times to not overwhelm his senses
Mihawk is basically Hisoka if Hisoka was capable of containing himself.

Everything we’ve been told about Shanks and Mihawk suggests it was always Mihawk’s title then he met Shanks who would have ended up being his Zoro if not for losing an arm.
Mihawk is so strong that he seemingly has to train people to hard counter him in order for the fight to be fun.
Not really. The story clearly implies that Mihawk and Shanks were equal until Shanks lost an arm. Then the two of them found different paths, Shanks became a yonkou and added 3 billion berries to his bounty, wainting for Luffy to test him and keeping the balance of the world while Mihawk waited until he found Zoro...
The two probably evolved a lot since Shanks lost his arm and took two different directions, Luffy needs ro surpass Shanks to be the king of the pirate and Zoro need to surpass Mihawk to be the WSS...
Most realistic take of Shanks vs Mihawk
Something to be noted is that when Shanks was talking about his scars with Whitebeard he brought up that he's been scarred by Mihawk yet Mihawk seems to be clean of scars. That makes me believe that Shanks was more on the weaker side of the exchange and not it actually being equal like with Dorry and Broggy.
Bro,he quite literally says he got the scars from blackbeard,and blackbeard used those claw blades before he got his devil fruit so it checks out

I like the video but it conflicts with what we know already
-Mihawk from the around the age of 5 was poor and a survivor (as shown of mihawk around the of 5 in a picture by oda)
- He trained Relentlessly for many years challenging more and more powerful foes until he had no more worthy challengers
-Because of that, he became a shichibukai (after roger's death)
Despite having no crew, he spends most of his time sailing for fun
- He is the words strongest swordsman who "Sits at the top as the strongest of All"
-"He looks forward the day a Swordmaster will emerge to surpass even his rival Red Haired shanks"
All of this tells us Mihawk is a lone wolf who is him
He faced them all and won
He trained for years and became a legendary
I don't believe There was an undisputed Worlds strongest swordsman before Mihawk
I simply think Mihawk literally faced them all and beat them all
After doing so None could deny he is the strongest
Now i don't think every swordsman faced him
I think he only looked for the strongest Around the corner

Luffy faces the strongest around the corner and wins or lives

They didn't face mihawk

There is no need for johnny and yosaku to try and face mihawk to be the words strongest when there is someone stronger than them who got destroyed

No i think mihawk was already the strongest and was the strongest even rogers death (who roger himself was incredibly sick and weak something mihawk probably noticed like he did with wb at marineford he noticed something was wrong and jozu redirecting his basic Slash confirmed it wb needed some else to step up for him
And mihawk lost interest and focused on the only other thing that had his interest Luffy
The eyes are very similar with imu and mihawk
And that removes the theory of imu's eye's are the result of immortality
Mihawk was a child born with those eyes as seen when he was around 5
And grew up with these eyes
I think mihawk is part of a long lived race like he is human but similar to an elf living for thousands of years
And there are long lived races already like the Giants
They have great strength giant bodies great vitality and long lifespans 300 years
And if mihawk is some kind of elf him
just waiting for years makes sense
Mihawk told zoro No matter how many years it takes i will remain at the top
Not just 2 years
And i think he was serious no matter if its 40 years or 50 years

His title is a mystery. He's the strongest swordsman but never fought Nosjuro, Shiliew or Garling Figarland... It was mentioned that Shanks had scars from Mihawk, but they aren't visible so not that important, also it was never mentioned that Mihawk was unscratched, like Shanks his scars could be invisible... it was also implied that back in the days the two never won against each other, and yeah the 1 billion berries bounty of Shanks at the time clearly implies that the 2 of them were far from their prime. I think that the people concerned by this title are the people that compete to obtain it. That could explain while Mihawk is considered the WSS despite never winning against the characters I mentioned. Also I don't think that a 20 years old Mihawk could be stronger than Roger even sick, Rayleight, Garling, Nosjuro... that doesn't sound right to me.

Luffy is 19 and beating yonko's
Mihawk probably started younger than luffy
And its not time that allows for growth
its quantity and quality
Luffy has grown fast because he is always after the next strongest guy around the corner
Shanks is similar
He was a pirate for years slowly building his crew
And when he was ready it took him only 4 years to become a yonko
Very similar to luffy
Roger and most other pirates did not go fighting the next strongest enemy every week
So rogers growth was slower because he spent years just living

For the gorosei you have no idea how strong they are. This is not because he got some bad showing that you can dismiss them entirely. After all Kizaru took one strong attack from gear 5 and was knock down for a few minutes while Saturn took an attack at least comparable and had no apparent damages. just wait a few weeks and you're probably going to flip sides again...
Dragon below fisher tiger ? Fisher tiger who lost to vice admiral Kizaru ? Dragon a guy so important that even Akainu is completly frenetic about him ?
Being hyped by such a man and being called the chamion of god valley should be enough to be considered a worthy opponent at least. Don't try to dismiss this dude with no argument for the sake of your agenda.
And again you're mixing headcanon and the reality of the one piece world. Zeff said it, Mihawk got this title after facing a lot of strong swordsmen and now people who wants the title are facing him... What relevence this title has if he never defeated any of the strongest swordsmen ? Like Shiliew, Magellan's rival, who forced Crocodile Jinbei and Iwankov to run at the same time ? Even Vista was know in the swordmen world, Mihawk respected him, and I'm not even talking about potential top tiers like Garling or Nosjuro... His title implies that he faced and won against all strong and notorious swordmen, because you have no way to know who's stronger if you never fought (except if you're a total nobody like Zoro on baratie).
Luffy and his crew are litteraly chosen ones, the fact that they can reach the top so young isn't surprising.
For Mihawk and Shanks however we have more infos, Shanks had a bounty of 1 billion when he faced Mihawk. And I know that bounty aren't an absolute indicator, but do you really think, by your own logic, that the world government will give a bounty of 1 billion to a guy who can compete against someone stronger than sick Roger ? This is ridiculous. And no the WG didn't try to protect Shanks, they wouldn't give him a bounty of 4 billion a decade later otherwise...
Mihawk became a warlord over 20 years ago!
Mihawk was actually an "Adventurer" because he was solo. He didn't really do anything pirate related, instead he would just hunt anyone strong. More than likely he stayed near the entrance to the Grandline so he could terrorizing those entering (probably helping to protect those under Shank's flag, because he tends to help anyone weak).
I hope that mihawk and perona reunite. I woude allso see more from The years on the Island

I really like how everyone is fighting everything that moves in order to achieve something and Mihawk causally declines becoming and emperor. Just drinking wine and chillin is good enough for him. He's good.
If Mihawk is as strong as people think, he might bisect S-Hawk in a single attack.
When it comes to mihawk and imu's eyes being similar, I think that that might just be a quirky design that Oda likes to do. Many characters have similar eyes like that like zunesha, cavandesh, big mom, gear 5 luffy, etc.

The title could've been achieved by challenging every swordsmen in the world, that's why he is travelling the world alone. There was no mention of any WSS in the previous era, especially with the 3 strongest swordsmen back then we're in the same crew, Roger, Rayleigh and Oden.
Zoro is gonna give Mihawk a permanent scar as deep as the one that Mihawk gave him back in baratie so Mihawk can remember how far Zoro had come ever since their first meeting. But that's js my theory.

Its good to see that Mihawk is now understanding why Shanks had given up his arm and their rivalry for Luffy. He seemed to gain his respect for Shanks back over time
Perhaps those are the eyes you get when you reach the pinacle of something important like best swordsman or king of the world or pirate king during the golden age of piracy. Which would explain why roger never had them. Because it was his death which elevated the importance of that role. I think it may be a power tied back in with, lineage factor, inherrited wills abnd devil fruits being manifestations of collective desires. Im probably wrong but i think that idea sounds kinda cool.
Maybe it operates like the pinacle of conquerers haki and only people with a specific level of conquerers haki are able to even contest these opponents. It works like a spiritual gateway to compete. The reason mihawk is so chill is because no one can realistically compete for that title.
Sorry if you are reading this thinking, homie be saying a lot but i must continue my unstructured unplanned ramblings and say. Remember when oda said a character in the series would end up with an eyepatch (i know im paraphrasing). Perhaps zorros damaged eye will heal once this process takes place and upon opening it that eye becomes like that and mihawks corresponding eye will change back to normal. After that it will be like a battle to compete for domination of that power and zoro will win altering his eyes permenantly. Also what if blackbeard faces luffy and then a similar battle plays out between him and luffy. Only this time around blackbeard blocks luffys fruit power and stabs him in that eye causing him to lose the eye whereas when it happened to zorro they eye wasnt gone just damaged. Then it could be the case that when luffy wins he becomes king of the pirates and it is shown by his remaining eye being like that. I think it would work even better if we got imu vs sabo or dragon before that and saw that fight play out like zorros because then it would add more shock to the eventual twist that blackbeard would try such an underhanded tactic to defeat him.

Shanks had a bounty of 1 billion berries when they clashed, he was far, far, far from his actual strenght, so Mihawk's haki didn't need to be as strong as the actual Shanks haki.
Plus he could have a stronger armement haki than Shanks and a weaker conqueror's haki, I mean does Mihawk really need to know how to deal mental attacks to an opponent like Shanks did against greenbull or does he need to know how to shut down observation haki, thoses things doesn't even count as part of the swordsmanship...
@@laraison6020 observation haki and conqueror haki very much count as part of swordsmanship and armament is very basic of swordsmanship so all 3 types of haki are essential for to be a better swordsman i think he has better observation and armament than shanks and shanks has little bit better conqueror overall Mihwak is still better i think>

Problem with his obv is shanks, he’s the perfect counter bc he kills obv. Which means it falls on swordplay armament and coc.
Hoping the ringed eyes you mentioned turns out to be possession, and that mihawk is just a vessel for Yoru. Yoru is seeking the strongest swordsman to wield it.
My theory for Mihawk is that he is Imu's son.
I've never really been a fan of this idea that Zoro will beat Mihawk before the final war since it would only invalidate his title if Zoro struggled with any swordsman in the future.
Mihawk and Imu have the same eyes so likely are connected and I always thought it would be poetic if Luffy and Zoro were to surpass Joy Bot and Ryuma at the same time and if Mihawk is Imu's child it is even more poetic. My theory is that Mihawk does not have a good relationship with Imu but will go back to protect his parent which will cause him to have his final show down vs Zoro and to loose probably in the same chapter as Imu.

People in edits saying mihawk is doffy level strength, they just love to underpower mihawk for no reason.
I think Mihawk will kill Zoro and Zoro will Conqueror Death (Since Hes Almost Died Plenty of times) and come back with a black blade. This could also help tie mihawk into the God Knight or Holy Knight Role. I Also Think Mihawk Fought all the red haired pirates that were present during the time. thats probably why hes named the strongest
I don't think that Shanks would allow his comrades to interfere in his dual. They were ewplicitly called duals by every person talking about it.
And? If theres a strong Opponent You Have To Defeat then do it With Your crew then and so be it. Mihawk Beat Shanks duel after duel along with His Crew. Until Ultimately Shanks Got Strong Enough To Become equal to mihawk and then mihawk considered him a rival. Shanks throwing his arm away for luffy was literally shanks giving up his will for someone else. Ultimately leaving Mihawk as The Strongest Alone. If you want proof of this Mihawk Literally tells zoro falling back on his dream for someone else is foolish. Doesnt that sound like the words for someone who didnt want to become pirate king and let down their own crewmate. (shanks and buggy) Thats literal proof mihawk has a stronger will.
Some part of me wonders if Mihawk is like the Saitama of the One Piece Universe. A Guy who became so ludicrously strong it eventually made him bored. Then, when Zoro came along, he got inspired again.

I doubt it. The title of "King of the Pirates" was only given to Roger simply because he and his crew were the only ones to ever fully explore the Grand Line. You really can't say the same with the title of "Worlds Strongest Swordsman." There have been plenty of powerful swordsmen that have existed in the world before Mihawk came home.
The previous best swordsman has to have been Ryuma.
Mihawk would hate how s-hawk copied everything off him, but after some type of command from bonny or something.

Because another title Mihawk holds is "The Clairvoyant" instead of "Hawkeye". And with Shanks being known as the "Killer of Observation Haki" I definitely believe that Mihawk has some CRAZY Observation/future sight, that could be his "hidden power"
I feel like if there was a strongest swordsman before mihawk its either a character that isnt in the story yet or Rocks D. Xebec. Rocks is a confirmed swordsman since he also carries a sword. He couldve been known as the worlds strongest swordsman who rivaled roger, who was the closest to the one piece at the time just like shanks is rn in the story
I think that Rocks doesn't care about this kind of title. Roger was the strongest sword user after Rock's death and never had this title, when he wasn't the pirate king he was just considered as a great pirate. I think that the WSS title is something you have to reach for. If you don't give a shit then you're not in the competition...

Mihawk is simply in an alliance of convenience, it's foolish for the World Government to oppose someone of his strength, but they seem to think it's a worthy effort if it's just an individual. So Crocodile's proposition and organizational skills make for a lucrative deal to be left alone. Which is Mihawks ultimate aim.

I don't really see Zoro swapping out any of his swords anymore from here forwards honestly. Raising their grades through turning them into black blades certainly, but he now has 3 swords that are all remarkably significant to him; Wado Ichimonji has the most obvious, deepest, and longest connection. Sandai Kitetsu has now been with him since Logue Town, for the entirety of his time in the Grand Line, it was the blade that he actually took a personal interest in back then with the curse gamble, and now he's even met the guy who forged it and formed a mutual respect with them. Enma is another blade of the same make as Wado, it's a "cursed sword" like Kitetsu, it has a history with Oden, and it's actively pushed Zoro to grow and reframe the way he thinks about cursed swords.
That might be besides the point since this is a Mihawk video, however considering the way swords can grow with exceptional users, and how the only supreme grade swords we know of have been in the possession of high calibre individuals (Mihawk, Roger, Whitebeard, Ethanbaron), I'm inclined to suspect that there are in fact no blades that get forged to supreme grade quality, that great grade is the peak of what can be forged by the swordsmith alone and that extra step to become supreme grade comes from being tempered with use and haki from an exceptional wielder.
Mihawk didn't necessarily have to beat someone to be the World's Strongest Swordsman, his skill may have been just that it was simply recognized he surpassed all others. In the same vein, I don't think Zorro necessarily has to beat Mihawk to earn the title himself (he will mind you) But doing so would be the quickest way to showcase his skills.

@@laraison6020 It being a much harder goal doesn't mean he was inspired by him, that would assume he hadn't begun his journey until roger died when in reality he was show traveling when roger was still around, has no interest in the one piece or any standing as a pirate. he's just a dude traveling and fighting swordsmen.

Mihawk is a former gods knight and does act pretty chill for the most part, but maybe his fight with Zoro they try to make it public and mihawk acts as if he is fighting for the celestial dragons so when Zoro beats him and becomes the world's strongest swordsman, the world sees it differently.
I would laugh if zoro was going to the one peice but got lost and found zoro then fight him but loose and then find the one peice

I don’t think Mihawks sword was supreme before he gained it and even if it was I don’t think it would be a narrative point in Zoro and mihawks fight. True Swordsmen in one piece aren’t strengthened by their sword rather they strengthen the swords they use
