It seems like borsalino used to be very poor, maybe he used to be someone who found his purpose being a man of the people, and optimistic but over the years became disillusioned with his job once he reallised what the marines job really is. He's been coasting along going through the motions since then, and hopefully luffy standing up to everyone no matter what to fight for freedom has inspired borsalino to quit the marines and go back to what he actually loves, being there for the people. His relaxed attitude is probably just a mask to hide the shame he feels for selling out.

That's true. In Sentomaryu's flashback they have been together for the longest Vegapunk and Kizaru to the point he even experimented with his laser beams. Kizaru, Bonney, Kuma, Vegapunk and Sentomaryu all danced to the drums of Liberation. It was not easy for Borsalino 😢 don't think if he will be the same after this

I think one piece Live Action if it continues only ended after marine ford wars and they set sail to fishmen island after 2 years time skip (imo ideally). At that point in time during sabaody archipelago and marine ford wars, kizaru action can be interpreted that its a casual yet menacing admiral borderlining goofy type with its pika-pika no mi. About the last panel you were telling about kizaru where he lays down defeated . The dialouge that you shown was the early translation and actual dialogue is something along the line " am I wonded ? really just let me rest". showing that he more concerned on what to other's and was not focusing on the battle and to himself to a extend.
Kizaru is a dutiful man. I don't think he agrees with everything about his job and usually tries to find loopholes and the bigger picture while also fulfilling his main duties as Admiral. I think he is conflicted about Sentoumaru siding with Vegapunk similarly to Garp and Ace how he's exacting justice upon the world. He has a bit of a sadistic side to doing his job, but I don't think he is trying to be a bad person outside of his responsibility.
First video that I felt actually gets Kizaru. I relate to Kizaru, just a tad, if I was slightly less honest I'd be just like him. Someone who can't stand up to power but will try to undermine power when they think it's needed. But ultimately goes with the flow. I finally get the meaning of unclear justice and I'm not against it. Though it's not ideal. It's practical at times

I think Akainu may try to defeat the world government and put the Marines on top. The moment he finds out his total justice was BS after the truth of the world is revealed I feel he will turn against the celestial dragons.
Kizaru killing Vegapunk and not betraying the world government is Oda‘s biggest missed opportunity so far. Many fans had the ridiculous idea that Kizaru could become a member of the Strawhats and as insane as it sounds, i would have loved to see that.

Kizaru’s somewhat sadistic treatment of Luffy in Marineford is now coming back to bite him. He’s now such a nuisance that the Gorosei- who are only slightly more competent, are seen as bigger threats in Luffy’s eyes. Kizaru will be lucky if he gets a better showing with Zoro or Sanji at this point

Post time skip Luffy skip has been overrated for quite a while now. Kaido is non stop fighting while luffy has to recharge eating foods. In an actual fight Luffy would get mopped every time, you know the type of fight that takes actual days which isn't a rare occurrence when you're at the top of the food chain. The only legit fight Luffy had was with Katakuri and even that was lucky he even managed to scraped by finding food.

Similar to how Garp doesn't become an admiral cause he doesn't respect the Nobles. However still believes that the Marines are necessary. He has served his purpose and isn't necessary anymore. They need someone who will readily accept Imu.

If Oda did not want readers thinking Kizaru was conflicted or hint that he may switch sides, he would not have written his story arc at Egghead the way he did. There is more to this story yet to be told. Also Borsalino, his name, is modeled after the famous italian hat company. The most famous person ever to put Borsalino hats on the map, was Humphrey Bogart, who often played conflicted characters that ultimately chose good over evil. In fact, the hat Borsalino wore as a Vice Admiral, looks identical to the Bogart hat from the Borsalino line. Same color and design. People should watch Casablanca if they want a better understanding of this.
