From oda’s drawing of sakazuki as a kid, we can assume he had a rough upbringing. This means that akainu rose to power through his own ambition and from what we’ve seen of his ambition, he is absolutely ruthless. That is what makes him the most evil One piece character. He isn’t petty like the celestial dragons. Sakazuki has some kind of pride in himself and most likely a palpable, festering hatred that makes him come across as a pure evil psychopath.
Akainu is just a boot licker, a hound of the celestial dragons. You can't disconect his work from beeing a extention of celestial Dragon interest. Because in the end a marine can kill a civilian if a Noble said so but the revese can't happen unless you leave your position in the marines.

People commonly forget that One Piece is told through Luffy’s eyes, a majority of the pirates in the world are villains who pillage and murder freely. The select few we see are exceptions to this rule. Akainu likely saw the worst of these villains as a child, thus birthing his ideology from a very young age. That’s why the dichotomy between Akainu and Luffy is so palpable, the kindest pirate versus the cruelest marine.

Akainu is evil because there is no limit to what he would do in order to enact his own fucked up version of justice. He would kill an entire bloodline just because one person of said bloodline was a famous pirate. As shown with ohara, he's the type of person to erase an entire country just if it meant getting rid of one "bad" guy. If he had access to ancient weapons, A LOT more island would have been erased from history. The dude is pure evil, although the actions he made in the manga, were not necessarily the most evil compared to other characters in the manga.

I think, this is an awfully cold way to look at Akainu’s actions, the only perspective considered here is that which we are presented with in the story. I think we should look more deeply into Akainu as a character, what are his morals? What justice does he believe in? What is absolute justice? Well, my interpretation is this, Akainu believes in the greater good, if one action will save more people than it sacrifices, then it is the correct action. His actions can’t be justified, but it’s important to look at what the purpose of his actions were. Why did he kill the Ohara refugees? What Akainu was told about Ohara was that they were researching the ancient weapons, things that could be used to end the lives of millions of people, so his logic was, if even one person with the knowledge of how to create or find these weapons escaped, the suffering already inflicted would be for nothing. Why did he end the life of that soldier fleeing from battle? In his eyes the loss of even one soldier could cause the pirates to win against the marines, leading to an age where the pirates terrorised the weak. He became enraged when the soldier told him he had just wanted to see his family again, because in Akainu’s eyes that marine’s family was already dead if that marine deserted. Why was it necessary to kill Luffy and Ace? They had in his eyes already committed the worst crime possible in becoming a pirate, but his true insistence comes from a fear of what they could do, what happens if ace became the next roger, a man so powerful even the hero of the marines couldn’t take him down, what if luffy became a second dragon and began tearing down the laws that he believed had kept people safe. In his eyes the only way to guarantee it would not happen was to end both of their lives. I think Akainu knows a lot less than he thinks he does, he most likely knows little or nothing of the void century, and most certainly has no idea of the true ruler of the world, otherwise the Gorosei would not have failed to mention him when they mentioned a higher power. If he knew about what the world government wants to do, I imagine he would turn coat immediately. Akainu, I’ve always felt, is a sympathetic character, he most likely comes from an island which could not pay its heavenly tribute and thus was kept under control by pirate warlords this could be where his vitriolic hate for pirates comes from, perhaps is why he believes in absolute justice, in no half measures. Of course this is just speculation as we won’t ever know the truth unless we get a flashback or backstory for his character. To be clear, I’m not justifying his actions, rather I’m just trying to spin a more human look at his actions, he is still very clearly evil.

I'm reminded of something Terry Prattchett said regarding his Discworld book Night watch, where he compares Sam Vimes to Javert from le Mis, which the book is broadly a parody of. Both men are obsessed with Justice, but to Javert, Justice is punishing the Guilty, whilst to Vimes, Justice is protecting the innocent. Akainu is, obviously, obsessed with punishing the Guilty, over protecting the innocent. It's why people hate him so much - but it's important to remember that he DOES believe in justice, even if that justice is cruel. What's clear to him now that he's fleet admiral is that the 5 elders and the celestial dragons don't give a damn about protecting the innocent OR punishing the guilty. *The Marines don't exist to ensure Justice* - they're a tool the state uses to protect the status quo. They never promoted Sakazuki because they agreed with his ideals. They did it because they thought he'd be a good blunt instrument. It might be surprising if Sakazuki eventually decides to take issue with that.

He's going to be forced to admit that his views were wrong for having the same view of all pirates and grow to have respect for the greats like Garp to an extent and Sengoku did when it came to Roger, Whitebeard, and eventually Shanks, as seen in his ability to end the paramount war diplomatically. I wonder if Luffy eventually fights and defeats him decisively, yet decides to spare him. Something crazy like we see what happens when Luffy is genuinely enraged while in Gear 5. Maybe he completely loses his sense of self for a time where he beats Akainu within an inch of his life then remembers his humanity, and what he's supposed to represent as the reincarnation of Joyboy. Resulting in Akainu reconsidering his views. Long shot and specific I know but just something that popped into my head.

He really isn’t tho. He’s a man with a false reflection of the world. He’s One of many who have had their views of the world flipped because of the tenryobito. They created all the men like him. Akainu was essentially brainwashed into thinking the Navy was correct and they were all powerful. But somewhere along the line he noticed something was strange. If pirates were evil, Why was nothing changing? Because the tenryobito want the illusion of balance… not dominance. So he made up his mind to go against their ideals of enslavement and prisons, and just eradicate all of them to gain the twisted view of “peace” the tenyiobito have cast upon the human population. Imu is undeniably the most evil here. He created all of this and he’s just playing in his garden….they are all bugs and tools to him…. Even the tenryobito. All to get what he wants.
I feel like Oda is gonna show us such a good sad flashback of Akainu‘s childhood that we still wont really accept what he has done, but we will understand why he‘s doing it and kind of be sad for him

I’m kind of surprised by the video. The title made me expect developped arguments to prove Sakazuki is the most evil One Piece chatacter. Yet, I only watched a more or less accurate exploration about the known parts of his life. The few errors: - Guys like Celestial Dragons and average pirates exist. Fleet Admiral Sakazuki isn’t even top 20 most evil named chatacter. The next points will prove that. - Sakazuki’s justice is "thorough justice", which differs from the "absolute justice" followed by the World Governement and the Marine HQ. His justice is why he exploded the Ohara ship. This would prevent any "demon" from escaping and thus not taking any risk. Indeed, even if it isn’t what the researchers want (which the WG doesn’t know for sure), other evil may use their discoveries to use the Ancient Weapons. As we know, the WG itselt is corrupted by evil since the dusk 800 years ago. This is why this explanation is only half true - their goal is to unsure their absolute control. That doesn’t make Akainu in particular evil. On top of that, the people who orchestrated the Ohara Incident are none other than the 5 Elder Planets along with Admiral Sengoku. - Sakazuki isn’t the one who planned Squardo’s betrayal against Whitebeard. It’s Fleet Admiral Sengoku, which Whitebeard noticed immediatly after Squardo told him Akainu said those words. - I think we can really remember Sakazuki as an executioner. He killed the pirate and son of the Pirate King, Portgas D. Ace. He gave his deadliest wounds to the pirate and Emperor of the Sea, Edward Newgate. He exploded demons that might have been hidden in the ship of Ohara. He threatened traitors and deserters, Koby and another marine solider. There’s a pattern. First, he’s wrong, his actions are disproportionate. Secondly, he has seemingly valid motives to enact justice since everyone here is highly dangerous for various reasons.

This guy is the Miles Quaritch of One Piece - and Quaritch is quite possibly one of the most evil characters in modern cinema. Now most of these 'evil villains' have SOME kind of self awareness that what they're doing is bad. Quaritch/Akainu has NONE. They fully believe that they are heroes and are doing the right thing, though they both appear to be insanely sadistic, especially Miles.
Comparing Akainu with all Celestial Dragons, God's Knights, CP9, and the Gorousei, he's probably not the most Evil one by far, but on the other hand, he's probably the one who "gets his hands dirty" and have a more direct approach in any large evil act/deed WAY MORE often, even if he's ""just following orders"" or not.
I hope that when Akainu finally gets his, it will be as cruel as possible. Forced to see his concept of Absolute Justice as the joke that it is. Forced to see himself as the stupid attack dog he is. Akainu was right, if you already decided to commitn genocide in order to hide a secret from the world, you might as well do it right, if not all those people had died in vain, and that is exactly what Kuzan provoked, in essence, all those who participated in the buster call were bad, but only Akainu tried to minimize the loss of lives, since the future wars were in great part because of the world knowing that secret they failed to conseal.

Honestly, I believe no on in the world is evil, in real life or in one piece. Everyone's character and personality are determined by the environment they grew up in, the people around them and their experiences. Basically, what I am saying is something along the lines of the child of a saint is (usually) a saint and the child of a tyrant is (usually) a tyrant but to a lot more subtle degree. For example, in one piece let's say doflamingo wasn't just randomly hung on a wall and tried to be burnt alive by that one village, he probably wouldn't have been so evil (not saying he would be a good person but still, he could be) and would have led a considerably better life; basically I'm sating it was his traumatic experience with those humans that led him to become who he was. On the other hand, if we take the most pure character in one piece, chouchou, he probably wouldnt have been waiting for his owner back in orange town if his owner had been well, a bad owner. And, I'll just say I don't aim to imply that this makes "evil" actions justifiable, but I just want to highlight the fact that the reason someone is good or bad, isnt really all their fault. (I guess by this point most people realised I'm kinda nihilist)

Another great video. Akainu is one of my favorite villains, his philosophy is such greatly written yet horrible to the one piece world. In my opinion, it will be such a legendary fight if Koby somehow managed to get to Akainu’s level and 1v1 him and end up being the one who defeats him as they complete opposite philosophies and who knows, maybe Koby can take his spot as Fleet Admiral 😂. As nearly everyone has pointed out calling Akainu the most evil character in One Piece is a bit extreme, although it does make me think of this quote of CS Lewis. "It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. Hmm idk, Akainu is on the verge of evil. He goes overboard for his justice that he would even kill his own men just because he values his life. Or the things he did in Ohara. Sure he's following orders (in most cases) but the way he goes overboard rubs a lot of the people the wrong way. Notice how dang near every major Ex-Admiral/Marine doesn't like the guy (Garp, Kuzan, and Sengoku). If the CD weren't so obviously evil i would say he is the perfect Government lapdog.
Akainu is evil because there is no limit to what he would do in order to enact his own fucked up version of justice. He would kill an entire bloodline just because one person of said bloodline was a famous pirate. As shown with ohara, he's the type of person to erase an entire country just if it meant getting rid of one "bad" guy. If he had access to ancient weapons, A LOT more island would have been erased from history. The dude is pure evil, although the actions he made in the manga, were not necessarily the most evil compared to other characters in the manga.

When I think of pure evil, I think of Kid Buu, Judge Holden, or other chaotic evil characters who would kill someone just for the sake of it. Akainu is lawful evil, while evil in his actions, he believes everything he's doing is for justice.

I think, this is an awfully cold way to look at Akainu’s actions, the only perspective considered here is that which we are presented with in the story.
I think we should look more deeply into Akainu as a character, what are his morals? What justice does he believe in? What is absolute justice?
Well, my interpretation is this, Akainu believes in the greater good, if one action will save more people than it sacrifices, then it is the correct action.
His actions can’t be justified, but it’s important to look at what the purpose of his actions were.
Why did he kill the Ohara refugees? What Akainu was told about Ohara was that they were researching the ancient weapons, things that could be used to end the lives of millions of people, so his logic was, if even one person with the knowledge of how to create or find these weapons escaped, the suffering already inflicted would be for nothing.
Why did he end the life of that soldier fleeing from battle? In his eyes the loss of even one soldier could cause the pirates to win against the marines, leading to an age where the pirates terrorised the weak. He became enraged when the soldier told him he had just wanted to see his family again, because in Akainu’s eyes that marine’s family was already dead if that marine deserted.
Why was it necessary to kill Luffy and Ace? They had in his eyes already committed the worst crime possible in becoming a pirate, but his true insistence comes from a fear of what they could do, what happens if ace became the next roger, a man so powerful even the hero of the marines couldn’t take him down, what if luffy became a second dragon and began tearing down the laws that he believed had kept people safe. In his eyes the only way to guarantee it would not happen was to end both of their lives.
I think Akainu knows a lot less than he thinks he does, he most likely knows little or nothing of the void century, and most certainly has no idea of the true ruler of the world, otherwise the Gorosei would not have failed to mention him when they mentioned a higher power. If he knew about what the world government wants to do, I imagine he would turn coat immediately.
Akainu, I’ve always felt, is a sympathetic character, he most likely comes from an island which could not pay its heavenly tribute and thus was kept under control by pirate warlords this could be where his vitriolic hate for pirates comes from, perhaps is why he believes in absolute justice, in no half measures.
Of course this is just speculation as we won’t ever know the truth unless we get a flashback or backstory for his character.
To be clear, I’m not justifying his actions, rather I’m just trying to spin a more human look at his actions, he is still very clearly evil.

I'm reminded of something Terry Prattchett said regarding his Discworld book Night watch, where he compares Sam Vimes to Javert from le Mis, which the book is broadly a parody of. Both men are obsessed with Justice, but to Javert, Justice is punishing the Guilty, whilst to Vimes, Justice is protecting the innocent.
Akainu is, obviously, obsessed with punishing the Guilty, over protecting the innocent. It's why people hate him so much - but it's important to remember that he DOES believe in justice, even if that justice is cruel.
What's clear to him now that he's fleet admiral is that the 5 elders and the celestial dragons don't give a damn about protecting the innocent OR punishing the guilty. *The Marines don't exist to ensure Justice* - they're a tool the state uses to protect the status quo.
They never promoted Sakazuki because they agreed with his ideals. They did it because they thought he'd be a good blunt instrument. It might be surprising if Sakazuki eventually decides to take issue with that.

I love this guy. One of my favorite villains. Is he a villain? I dunno. But you state him as evil in the thumbnail so yeah.
I bet by the end Akainu will be completely against the World Government. He's going to be forced to admit that his views were wrong for having the same view of all pirates and grow to have respect for the greats like Garp to an extent and Sengoku did when it came to Roger, Whitebeard, and eventually Shanks, as seen in his ability to end the paramount war diplomatically. I wonder if Luffy eventually fights and defeats him decisively, yet decides to spare him. Something crazy like we see what happens when Luffy is genuinely enraged while in Gear 5. Maybe he completely loses his sense of self for a time where he beats Akainu within an inch of his life then remembers his humanity, and what he's supposed to represent as the reincarnation of Joyboy. Resulting in Akainu reconsidering his views. Long shot and specific I know but just something that popped into my head.
I guarantee you, the second Akainu's sad boohoo backstory drops everyone will do a complete 180 about him. Dude is a marine who's job is killing pirates, he's simply very good at his job.

He really isn’t tho. He’s a man with a false reflection of the world. He’s One of many who have had their views of the world flipped because of the tenryobito. They created all the men like him. Akainu was essentially brainwashed into thinking the Navy was correct and they were all powerful. But somewhere along the line he noticed something was strange. If pirates were evil, Why was nothing changing? Because the tenryobito want the illusion of balance… not dominance. So he made up his mind to go against their ideals of enslavement and prisons, and just eradicate all of them to gain the twisted view of “peace” the tenyiobito have cast upon the human population. Imu is undeniably the most evil here. He created all of this and he’s just playing in his garden….they are all bugs and tools to him…. Even the tenryobito. All to get what he wants.

your "there will never be another"- series was unique. you could do that with every one piece character there is and create something that is immediately associated with your channel. everything else seem more or less a version of something that already existed.
I’m kind of surprised by the video. The title made me expect developped arguments to prove Sakazuki is the most evil One Piece chatacter. Yet, I only watched a more or less accurate exploration about the known parts of his life.
The few errors:
- Guys like Celestial Dragons and average pirates exist. Fleet Admiral Sakazuki isn’t even top 20 most evil named chatacter. The next points will prove that.
- Sakazuki’s justice is "thorough justice", which differs from the "absolute justice" followed by the World Governement and the Marine HQ. His justice is why he exploded the Ohara ship. This would prevent any "demon" from escaping and thus not taking any risk. Indeed, even if it isn’t what the researchers want (which the WG doesn’t know for sure), other evil may use their discoveries to use the Ancient Weapons. As we know, the WG itselt is corrupted by evil since the dusk 800 years ago. This is why this explanation is only half true - their goal is to unsure their absolute control. That doesn’t make Akainu in particular evil. On top of that, the people who orchestrated the Ohara Incident are none other than the 5 Elder Planets along with Admiral Sengoku.
- Sakazuki isn’t the one who planned Squardo’s betrayal against Whitebeard. It’s Fleet Admiral Sengoku, which Whitebeard noticed immediatly after Squardo told him Akainu said those words.
- I think we can really remember Sakazuki as an executioner. He killed the pirate and son of the Pirate King, Portgas D. Ace. He gave his deadliest wounds to the pirate and Emperor of the Sea, Edward Newgate. He exploded demons that might have been hidden in the ship of Ohara. He threatened traitors and deserters, Koby and another marine solider. There’s a pattern. First, he’s wrong, his actions are disproportionate. Secondly, he has seemingly valid motives to enact justice since everyone here is highly dangerous for various reasons.
Ah I see the video creator obviously has never heard of the gorosei who have committed so many more evil actions than Akainu.

Akainu is basically the world government version of the FBI, constantly instigating needless conflict just for the excuse to burn everything down and get praised as a hero for stopping the threat he deliberately promulgated.

This guy is the Miles Quaritch of One Piece - and Quaritch is quite possibly one of the most evil characters in modern cinema. Now most of these 'evil villains' have SOME kind of self awareness that what they're doing is bad. Quaritch/Akainu has NONE. They fully believe that they are heroes and are doing the right thing, though they both appear to be insanely sadistic, especially Miles.

Comparing Akainu with all Celestial Dragons, God's Knights, CP9, and the Gorousei, he's probably not the most Evil one by far, but on the other hand, he's probably the one who "gets his hands dirty" and have a more direct approach in any large evil act/deed WAY MORE often, even if he's ""just following orders"" or not.

Akainu was right, if you already decided to commitn genocide in order to hide a secret from the world, you might as well do it right, if not all those people had died in vain, and that is exactly what Kuzan provoked, in essence, all those who participated in the buster call were bad, but only Akainu tried to minimize the loss of lives, since the future wars were in great part because of the world knowing that secret they failed to conseal.

Honestly, I believe no on in the world is evil, in real life or in one piece. Everyone's character and personality are determined by the environment they grew up in, the people around them and their experiences. Basically, what I am saying is something along the lines of the child of a saint is (usually) a saint and the child of a tyrant is (usually) a tyrant but to a lot more subtle degree. For example, in one piece let's say doflamingo wasn't just randomly hung on a wall and tried to be burnt alive by that one village, he probably wouldn't have been so evil (not saying he would be a good person but still, he could be) and would have led a considerably better life; basically I'm sating it was his traumatic experience with those humans that led him to become who he was. On the other hand, if we take the most pure character in one piece, chouchou, he probably wouldnt have been waiting for his owner back in orange town if his owner had been well, a bad owner. And, I'll just say I don't aim to imply that this makes "evil" actions justifiable, but I just want to highlight the fact that the reason someone is good or bad, isnt really all their fault. (I guess by this point most people realised I'm kinda nihilist)
