I'm very genuine when I say Katakuri is the closest person to becoming a similar Whitebeard figure in the One Piece world, with Big Mom and Perospero out of the picture, this the perfect time for him to step up. They are suprisingly similar in many aspects, wheather thats their genuine love for their family, their protectiveness of their family, a strong pride in their backs (never laying down/scar on the back), respect for people who have strength, and even a polearm type of weapon (Trident/Naginata).
I can see it already, The Donut pirates, lead by a brotherly figure that takes up pirates under him to become his family. Constantly clashing when running into his rival, the pirate kings crew, Strawhat pirates
That would genuinely be great, only issue for the rivalry would be the age gap lol, Kat's in his 40s so it would be a bit awkward for him to be the main rival

Also if Sanji and Pudding ever hit it off again in future (Hopefully once Pudding is an adult Oda), he'll be playing the role of Oden, getting borrowed left and right lol

@@HoagMurkula did a quick search and most of the results tell me its a naginata, whether thats the wiki or reddit discussions, where was it mentioned that it was a bisento? Or rather how can I distinguish the two because looking at it, as it looks similar. I've called that thing a naginata for literal years now so this is some mind changing info u dropping on me rn lol

It it is a bisento. Because bisentos have wider blades and a more knife-like edge. While naginatas are more like putting a sword on a stick
Man he kind of reminds me of my grandfather who was a beast up to the last moment who loved his family and only died because he was old and had terrible skin cancer because his days out at sea... Jesus if he died standing I would be calling him white beard... I miss him.

I love White Beard because he reminds me so much of my own Grandfather. My grandfather was 6’2, owned every room he walked into, controlled every conversation he was a part of, was one of the first Black OBGYN in Canada, co-created a mentorship program for young black medical students, and was the center pillar of guidance of my family.

Edward Newgate was a man who lived as grand as he traveled, a father who loved all his sons equally and gave his life to protect them. Roger respected Newgate to the point that he offered him the roadmap to the one piece as he believed that Newgate might be the one to liberate the world but the old man never gave a damn about it and in the end, he died standing with a declaration that the Legacy of the old, the will of D. still lives on that The One Piece Is Real.

Imo, probably Whitebeards greatest act was how he made the Marines repeat history against their will.
Aces execution was supposed to send a symbolic message to the world and pirates; the Age of Pirates ends here, by the death of Pirate King's son. And while Marines succeeded in it, Whitebeard made all of that empty by his last words.
"ONE PIECE IS REAL!"
and with that, confirming it, during the next two years even more people set out to the sea to become pirates. Marines failure was due to their own hybris. Instead of them ending an era, Whitebeard ignited a completely different path for it. And with that, if anyone still doubtet him, he truly rised to the same level as Roger.
Edward Newgate, the King of the age after Roger and before the New Age, who never needed the crown or the title.
WB isn't just the best and legend in One Piece, he is one of the greatest in fiction and there will no WB in fiction. He is an underrated GOAT and i like him to be this way, some gems shouldn't shine and shouldn't be known. They looks beautiful when they're underrated.

The fact that you didnt let the story slide away from Whitebeard for a moment made it so impactful.
You could've start talking about why he believed in Luffy during Marineford or expanded more on Roger's will but you didn't, and this helped the storyline feel much more focused on the strongest man in the world, the best dad.

oo interesting, I can definitely see that since Whitebeard and Roger were even with haki, but Whitebeard had the strongest paramecia on top of that
@@Impel6 Actually Roger's haki should be stronger than Whitebeard, since Kaidou used Roger has an example of peek haki when he was fiing Luffy. Whitebeard most likely uses his df to close the gap and surpass him, becoming the world strongest man but it should also be stated that they never faught to the death, always ending up in a stalemate. To me Roger is stronger and on a 1v1 to the death he would win but Whitebeard DC is enough to destroy the world making him the most feared and granting him the title of the strongest
