I never comment, but this video on Effortless Power is the real deal. No gimmicks, no ridiculous claims, no "nobody talks about this" none of that crap. Just straight to the point, here's what you're probably doing, here's what you should be doing and HOW TO GET THERE! Awesome and it works. Went to the range today and followed the alignment, setup, take away, back swing, downswing and follow through, along with this video, and finally achieved what I've been chasing all summer. Powerful crisp iron shot that really shoot off the club head. Thanks Pete.
I witnessed a lad struggling on the range a few months ago (in fairness to him he had just started out in golf.) I directed him to this channel, as I feel a lot of YT golf is about quick fixes and click bait shite. This channel has really improved my game and he’s straight to the point and very practical in his teaching.
Hello, great vid!! Can you tell me why, when I swing faster with driver, the ball is low and left? But, when I swing slower, the ball is high and right?? Thanks
I don't agree with this. The swinging arms turn the body not the other way round. The backswing is actually a combination of hand and arm action and body turn. Swing the club up and turn the shoulders at the same time. This is the teaching of John Jacobs the greatest ever golf teacher. Too many golf instructors on YT over complicate the golf swing.
Nice video but most weekend golfer don’t have the flexibility to turn the shoulders anywhere near 90 deg and also keep there head centred. Any advice for them?
Sure. The idea is simply to involve your body in your swing, however flexible you are. If you can't go back as far as this video proposes then you have found your limit and it should mean that you are indeed using your body while turning, and not using only your arms. A good stretching and warmup routine before playing can also help loosen you up. For more information, please visit: free-online-golf-tips.com/additional-tips/golf-fitness-tips/golf-warm-up/
@@johnmalarkey4908 I nearly injured my shoulder trying to get more shoulder turn. I had also heard to "keep your lead arm straight" and the combination of those two things is what tweaked my shoulder. After looking into it and asking about it, the answer I got is that it's okay to let your lead arm bend slightly near the top of the backswing. Doing that also allowed me to get more shoulder turn in, and suddenly I was hitting all my irons 25 yards farther.
I've tried rotating while I swing but what happens when I do that is my shots become very sloppy, whereas if I go arms only my shots are nice and straight 🙃
Same here. Everybody says the lower body drives the golf swing. I tried this and found it very hard to get the lower body and arms working together with good timing. It's much easier to feel like I'm driving the swing with my arms, and let the lower body react. My shots are straighter and longer.
I'll add to that. I recorded my swing, both with an arm swing and the body swing. They looked identical. So I can only assume the lower body is still moving, but without having to deliberately try and shove it around and through.
Almost all golf writers and youtube instructors completely fail to understand that adult beginners, especially, need to start with simple ball striking skill building that involves ONLY the arms and hands. Quarter to half swings maximum until they can reliably get the ball airborne. This might even involve "scooping" or "flipping" at first, which they all try to tell us is so bad, but it's the only way I can prevent skulling the ball. This full shoulder and hip turn motion is an ADVANCED move for players who have gained proficiency in proper ball contact. I took lessons and the instructor should have recognized that I couldn't even get the ball in the air more than 50% of the time.
I think the “ problem with most club golfers” is teaching pros. don’t understand that the average persons muscle development is not based upon playing golf. To compound this , watching the golf swing of top players on TV actually encourages the view that it is an arms only swing- because that’s what it looks like.
The other key component here is the arm swing portion is just up and down, not back and forth. (up less than to inches) Flatter swings have a turn with wrist cock with minimal up movement. th-cam.com/video/PXX7H3MUftE/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps someone.
You are wrong complete rubbish check out Padraig Harrington talking about arms and wrist how important they are in the swing the lower body follows the arms check out Mike Malaska he has the best explanation about swinging the club with your arms lower body reacts to the arms check out Jim Flick wrong teaching dude
PGA Tour Pros very well may fire with their right core or right lat a little quick before the backswing is completed but this is still one million times better than an amateur. If you are watching PGA Tour golf and an announcer mentions that the body is moving faster than the arms or hands, this does not relate to you in any way. If you have played high level college golf or have shot under par on a PGA Tour level course you may have this problem. It is highly unlikely though. If your body is moving faster than your arms, you have never lost a local club championship. Instead of worrying about your body moving faster than your arms you should actually try to move your body faster than your arms. In fact, try to move your body at all in the backswing and then again in the downswing. If you haven’t gotten professional golf lessons, you will have no idea how to do this. You should start your backswing with the lower left side and the downswing should start with the lower right side for the right handed golfer. Good luck with that.

That is so great to read. Thank you for the kind words, and for watching!
turn the shoulders let the arms swing...nobody ever told me that, that will be my mantra Thankyou
Great drill. Definitely synchronizes the body with the arms
This is a great channel, golf distillery has been the ‘go to’ for since I started playing golf 18 months ago. I look forward to more content. Thanks👍🏻
Thank you for your kinds words and endorsement.

This is a great first step to swing well. Probably seems basic to good golfers. There are many other things to learn in addition to this.
Basic but overlooked which is why so many good golfers struggle with compensations doing it incorrectly.

You said the shoulders are doing everything, but I need to learn how to do the lower body because I feel like that I am all upper body

@@lukejuras8024 thank you for response. Will try out your advice next time at the range.
hi pl make some videos on how to increase flexibility during hip rotation
Now talk about the sequence of the body turning
I've tried rotating while I swing but what happens when I do that is my shots become very sloppy, whereas if I go arms only my shots are nice and straight 🙃
Practice, and as my coach said "Trust the process." It is not a natural movement so you have to train yourself.
I'm the same way. I tried to have the all arms trained out of me, my game was a mess & I wanted to quit

My friend just uses bent arms no rotation hits the drive shot 280 he is 70y
So I think it's all a myth
