- All the kids want long hair on top and Mom wants it short on the sides! I don't know about you but that was a tough cut for me to do for the longest. It's taken me years to learn techniques that allow me to do this cut easy as possible. We'll do some advanced scissor work, follow by clipper work, then connect it all together. Let me show you how to break it down nice and easy!

I think even though you’re showing a step by step on how to perform this, there are still too many nuances. A template that I’ve seen work is to record someone inexperienced at cutting hair and you coaching them through it. That way you can get a first hand perspective of what mistakes we might be making that you can’t see, and we can’t communicate. 🙏

I think it doesn’t make sense cause we don’t know WHY he’s doing steps and its purpose. I’m taking DFS Year 1 course and it’s starting to make sense some of the theory to how this method works. It’s just something that we need to look into intricately to understand or have someone teach us it.
A professional understands the technical aspects of this cut.

My son doesn’t like anyone cutting his hair but me. I’ve taken him several places and he has gotten good haircuts but just isn’t a fan of the whole scene. This is the best guide I’ve come across to help me cut his hair the right way. Very thorough and thoughtful. You definitely have a new fan😊

Thanks for this one! My 14 year old grandson likes this cut and I've been struggling with the the clipper work and the transition. I got my cosmetology license after 1500 hrs of education back in the '80s. We spent about a day and a half on clipper work. I didn't have the confidence to make it in the shop - I lasted about 2 weeks! 😂 Since then I've continued to cut my own hair and some family and friends, but always terrified of the clippers. Covid lockdown had me trying again as my husband likes a military cut and that means clippers! Anyway, I'm pretty confident with shears and believe it or not I learned point cutting and some other tricks back in the day, but I was struggling with this transition from long to short! You taught me a new approach and it really helped! Still struggling with the clippers but not giving up! Thanks for your videos - love all aspects and agree with the commenter about sharing your thoughts as you look at a client's headshape, hairlines, etc. All good stuff!

Love seeing the scissor work. I have been looking for more videos that show more of that. Seems like everybody just wanna show fades and whatnot. Seen enough of those to pretty much understand a basic system, but the scissor work is interesting because it takes a little more thought and work and gives a really NICE finished STYLE as opposed to same old fade that everyone gets/sees.

Keep putting out the scissor cuts! I’ve been cutting hair from home and starting an apprenticeship at the beginning of the year. I don’t have much experience in scissor cuts so definitely feel kind of anxious when doing any amount of scissor work. These videos help for sure!

I always enjoy your content. I know you asked for input in regards to whether or not we like content like this or if you need to make it easier to follow I.e step by step. Me personally I think you should just continue to grow as a content creator. If people come across your page and want to see remedial tutorials then they need to watch some of your older content you know? Most of the barbers who are watching your content enjoy watching the overall start to finish of the cut because we already understand the concept you know? Maybe even post a remedial chop on Tuesdays and straight up cuts on Thursday (just throwing out random dates) hopefully this came across genuine and not demanding. Love the work Sean 🔥

I've got a group of six high school kids that come see me at one time once every couple of weeks that all get 2 3 fades with the long forward tops just like this and I always struggle to blend the long top into the clipper work. Definitely gonna try this.

Just found this video and I was able to give my tween son the BEST haircut ever. He agreed that the extra time it took was WELL worth it in the end. One of my sons has blonde curly hair, and my other has blonde straight hair. Any tips on approaches to get a great cut by hair type would be helpful!

Beautiful work! I’m definitely thinking that block graduation will be on our future cut list for my children. I was once licensed at the beginning of the 2009 recession but without a clientele I never got to practice in a salon. I cut my children’s hair but am hoping to advance my skill. I’d love to see cuts that do not include a bald fade.
