    Note to anyone planning on using these with a 12 speed cassette, you will need a ~0.5-1mm cassette spacer!
    Took me a lot of back and forth with Superteam and trial and error to figure this out!

    The whole point of me buying a set of SuperTeam carbon wheels 6 years ago was to save money and still have a great set of wheels. I paid less than $300 for a set of 38mm wheels and they are still on the bike thousands and thousands of miles later and they still look great and ride great. I'm sure these wheels are equally nice, but I'm not spending that much money on a set of wheels.

    Thanks for the helpful review. I'm looking for a set of carbon spoke wheelset and am leaning toward Elite Drive (I've had 2 sets of Elite wheels that have worked great). Quick note: Elite star ratchets are *not* compatible with DT Swiss. I tried to swap 18 tooth DTs with 36T Elites and the ratchet would not engage due to, I think, a slightly different spring or interface between springs and ratchets.

    I have a pair I bought off on Amazon for USD 200 3 years back. These have held up unbelievably well. One time, I even rode a couple miles on em with a flat, fully expecting to destroy the wheel. But nope, they stayed intact and didn’t even need to be trued after. WTF.

    These wheels are built 2:1 ratio that’s why they have double the spokes on one side than the other,” 2:1 ratio is best actually because it makes for a very stiff wheel.
    Henry ford came up with this design for his cars with spoked wheels so they wouldn’t flex as they turned into corners on the road.

    bought 50 & 60mm superteam wheel without any decal, so everything come without any marking and who know whether it was real or other brand. about 7500km, still going strong. only change the front bearing after it developed lateral play. the assembly still true, brake track looks ok although a lot of brakepad deposited on the surface. like it was burned and bonded to the surface. it appeared after braking in long mountain descent. the rim has 1 chipped mark, probably from stone hit.

    • @stevenleffanue

      Leave brake marks on the brake track as it improves braking...similar to "bedding in" with disc brakes.

    I worry about carbon spokes... I always ride alone and often a long way from public transport. Are the spokes more likely to break if hit by a stone? I assume once they break you have to stop riding?

    • @stevenleffanue
      @stevenleffanue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carbon spokes require more force to break them than a steel spoke. So they can break but require a bigger hit or stick going thru your wheel.

    It's a shame no one does carbon spokes in no hole rim bed design.
    Also, making the spokes so wide but not aligning them properly sort of defeats the purpose from aerodynamic perspective. Those thin wide spokes look like carbon knives. Hopefully, no one sticks their fingers or toes in when the wheel rotates.

    These wheels are flawed in design from a safety standpoint. The spokes in the hubs are not captive. This is a serious safety issue and design flaw. My opinion is that they should not be purchased or recommended until changes are made. Broken spokes could cause catastrophic and sudden wheel collapse.
