    Main reasons why I bought a ‪@Kinefinity‬ Mavo S35
    1. I can use E-mount, PL, LPL, EF.
    2. Sensor flexibility, open gate is a must, anamorphic options are plenty and scalable resolution.
    3. Upscaling resolution with compromise
    3. Eco system. I love that Mavo has built their own accessory that communicate to each other. Monitor, EVF, Etc.
    All of that for a new S35 sensor for the half the price of the KX - I’ll take it ha

    I think that Black Magic is playing the long game, they started with low budget filmmakers who were in film school or highschool and then as we grew up and gained more experience, BM created more and more cameras that fit our needs. Continuing to integrate us into their system and work flow as they prepare for the end game. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next year or two we get a square body, modular design camera that is comparable (at least on paper) to the Alexa mini or the Venice.

    As a day one Fuji XH2S user (chosen over the Red Komodo), you got me looking at a whole new company. Very excited to see if this is the cinema body we've all been wanting from Fuji. That sensor is just so amazing, and I'm so in love with it I ignore its flaws, because it works with me the way I need it to. The Komodo just couldn't give me the color's & dynamic range I wanted.
    I started looking at the Komodo X as I get pushed further into the need to grow up and get a cinema body, but this is very very exciting. Please Please Please make a video as soon as you get your hands on one!

    Not me! I own the 12k and the image is insanely beautiful, but my 6k and 6k pro are still my go to. Took my 6k to Miami last week, the humidity and condensation from hotel to outside to venue, didnt slow it down a bit. It never misses. I cut it on and im shooting in seconds, im only recording to an SSD. I freaking love this workhorse. ill put the 6k image, POST GRADE... next to anyone else's sub $10,000 camera in a shoot out! Congrats on your new camera.

    I loved my 6 year affair with Fuji, but as I pivoted into more film production, I needed a more cinema focused system. I landed on a Komodo/Canon set up. 0 regrets. The Komodo’s modular cube shape allows for a build that can be much quicker to get up and running than the mirrorless dance of 6,000 cables. Excited to see more of your work with Kinefinity!

    Congrats & welcome to the Kinefinity family! Ive owned a Mavo LF since Dec 2020 & I can honestly say I is the best investment I've ever made. I feel it gets a bad rep with TH-camrs for some reason but I bought mine because the image quality really is King. Like every camera, it takes a little time to get use to its very few quirks, but it is such an amazing camera I don't think it will bother you. I have both an EF & E mount, hopefully soon a PL mount, so the range of lens options I have is absolutely endless. & Customizing my Mavo rig has honestly been the funniest I've ever had with a camera. I'm filming a feature on it right now & the footage, dude! The Dual Native ISO is insane.
    I too came from Fuji. I bought a Fuji XT3 in 2019 & it honestly didn't do for me what I wanted. yes it's an amazing camera but It didn't make me want to go out & film. I was disappointed in how it made me feel & for me cameras are all about how you feel when you use it, not the brand name. Plus I love going to different sets & owning a camera nobody has every heard of lol I always get asked "is that a red?" lol, nope!
    Anyways, hope you in joy it bro. If you have any questions please feel free to hit me up. I've run my Mavo to the bone & it's definitely a workhorse of a camera.

    Was waiting for this one to drop! Super nice explanation of your thought proces. Been looking at this camera too, these are some of the things I still have to figure out before making the jump (also coming from the 6k pro):
    - How do you look at this camera from an investment perspective? Kinefinity still seems quite the new kid on the blok (at least in Europe)
    - What are your thoughts on brand recognition compared to something like the Komodo X and the potential for charging for your camera package?
    - What ND system are you planning to use with the camera? Not having internal ND’s is quite a big downside compared to having them inside the camera like the 6K pro.
    Keep up the good work, looking forward to more content about this camera!

      I have the same questions looming for me as a 6K Pro user and one who has considered Kinefinity in the past.

    • @CineDailies
      @CineDailies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tijmen thanks for your questions.
      1. Outside of my commercial work, I purchased this camera as my investment in the narrative space. It's a system that can provide all of the tools for that space. If I can get it on commercial sets, that's even better. But for now I use the camera that will best fit the job, I don't try to focus one camera over another.
      2. Brand recognition doesn't matter unless the client or production explicitly asked for said camera. But in reference to kinefinity, pro res 4444 hq will be suitable for most production, if not all
      3. I'm using Tiffen 4x5.65 NDs and moment VNDs

  • @raredreamfootage
    @raredreamfootage ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did the same thing and moved on to a proper cinema style body. I felt the P6K Pro wasn't good for hand held movement because it was too light and had an awkward weight distribution. Don't get me wrong though, there is a place in my workflow for it, it's just that money isn't finite so I had to choose between one over the other.
    In case you're wondering, I went with the URSA 12K and I don't regret it. The image pipeline is night and day improved from the launch firmware (pre firmware 7.7). The lowlight also doesn't get enough credit as it does really well in the 12K mode because the noise is so tiny, detail is still present and the noise is therefore not distracting like on lower megapixel cameras.

    Man that's awesome, I've been really looking into Kinefinity. I think that their image has the nicest rendering and cinematic motion below the RED V-Raptor and Used Alexa price point. I don't know what Kinefinity is doing, but they have some secret film sauce in their image. I've owned two Komodos sold them becasue I never liked the image. There's something weird about the Komodo motion and image, and the skin tones are always brown/orangish. I own an Arri Amira and I love the image, but man the camera is so heavy it's a back breaker. I'm thinking of getting a Kinefinity, not sure if S35 or FF model. I'm looking forward to seeing your footage. It's taken forever of Kinefinity to ship the new cameras. When are they shipping your camera?

    Great video!
    How would you compare the 6K FF and Pro against the 6K G2? I'm considering the 6K G2 over the other two, because the difference of the 6K Pro pretty much only is the built-in ND filter. I have a matte box with ND filters already. The 6K FF is full-frame, which can be worth it, but not sure if that's a big leap worth the money (€1k).
    Currently have a rigged out BMPCC 4k (with ext battery, matte box and nd filters, ext monitor etc.) and I am also not sure if it is worth the upgrade to the 6k G2. The 6k G2 has a crazy deal of €1500 and if I sell the BMPCC 4k, it is only €400 extra for me to upgrade from the 4k.
    Thank you!

Solid Autofocus and low light, incredible battery life, internal ND, audio and recording options galore, one of which is internal RAW on affordable media. Finally you have a great s35 sensor with maybe the best dynamic range in the sub 10k range with a flexible mount/adapter configurations. I have to 100% agree with your decision to move on from Blackmagic. They really have not responded to the numerous long-term requests from their cinema user base to give us something else. Instead Blackmagic has gone all in to the broadcast and streaming side of the business. I waiting for any type of announcement over the last 6 months and got....crickets.
    Because of that I also made a change. I went through the exact same list and rational that you did. My only difference is that after also using Sony cameras for the last two years, I really loved the full-frame look. However I am also moving into more green screen cyc work and virtual production. That was my tipping point so because of the global shudder I went to the Red Komodo-X. Yes, the cost was a lot, especially since I am starting new with Red. I am getting the black version and have been told I would get it by the end of June. That gives me time to bring everything else into house.
    As to your decision on the Kinefinity, I looked at them but I have to say that Gerald Undone's breakdown of that camera last year ( with the old sensor ) really made me doubt that their new version was going to be able to hit it out of the park. Add that to the almost complete lack of on-line footage of the new sensor, and no youtube reviews of the newer versions just reinforced Gerald's review. I look forward to what you think of this camera as you get it and play with it. I loved the body...but the sensor just scares me. I posted on Blackmagic's site 6-8 months ago that if they used their sensor in Kinefinity's body it would be the perfect camera. Thanks for your video and I'll be waiting for more on your new camera.

    The S35 comparison to full frame neglects the loss of light. To achieve the same exposures, the S35 takes more work on lens and ISO. You can see in that footage the S35 is half a stop to almost a full stop dimmer than the FF. Field of View is not the only noteworthy difference.
