      That's wise - I'll be looking at Cinema P3, per my negative first impressions of the Blackmagic Camera App - which is from a trendy company and new, therefore everyone is all ga-ga and far too willing to give it a free ride despite the bugs reported in the Blackmagic forum.

    i have a question tho
    should you should without using an external LUT ?

    • @SmartphoneFilmmaker
      @SmartphoneFilmmaker  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think in general it would be best to use a lut in the editing rather than burn it into your shots as you film. You can definitely experiment using external luts though. I tend to use an external luts to see how the white balance, highlights and shadows are looking without burning the lut straight into my footage.

If I up this settings to 180 degrees and iso 100, the shot is without noise but very exposed. I shot the scenes in apple prores 422

  • @Apuat

    Beware that when changing lenses while filming, you will lose a couple of seconds of audio. So if you’re shooting something like an interview or anything in sync with another camera, you will lose a . Not to mention the dark frames that pop up. Thank God, Blackmagic fixed the issue issue of audio being completely out of sync, when switching lenses which used to exist in the previous version of the app.

    Is there anyway you can monitor the sound when using an external microphone? I would have thought maybe you could use AirPods but that does not seem to work. Maybe there is a connector that goes into the USB C that splits into microphone and headphones but I have not been able to find one.

    • @SmartphoneFilmmaker

      @iPhone-Cinematograhy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I rely on XLR microphones for my audio setup. To assess sound quality, I use headphones and LED lights connected to both the iRig Pre 2 and iRig Pro Duo. The levels are confirmed through the meter on my iPhone. Please note that this monitoring pertains to the incoming sound rather than the recording process on the phone itself.

    Thanks for the video. I have a small query, I shot a few test videos on my IP15 Promax using the Blackmagic app. at Apple Prores 422HQ, 60fps 4k. The file size came to a ginormous 5.52GB. Since I didnot have an SSD connected (its my first time), shot everything to the phone.
    Now I am getting an error transferring the files to SSD - The operation couldn't be completed. File is too large.
    Any help greatly appreciated!!

      I have to use an FTP app and transfer it that way over WiFi to an FTP server running on a computer nearby. This is actually FASTER if you have an 80mhz wifi channel and DO NOT have a pro model iphone than over the USB cable. Apple artificially limits non-pro models to USB2 (480Mbps) transfer speeds. So you can actually transfer files off non-pro models faster over WiFi (potentially) than via a wired connection.

  • @AnandaGarden
    @AnandaGarden 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've tried to like the Blackmagic Camera App, but - (1) it takes over audio and ignores my settings in the Shure MV88+, (2) it won't let me lock shutter angle - I turn on the app and it's suddenly 172 instead of 180, (3) it won't let me lock settings individually (e.g., shutter angle), (4) the settings slider (e.g., exposure compensation) is unresponsive, too narrow, and too close to the other settings on the right side of the phone, which risks triggering something unintentionally. End of rant. I really would love to like it because the UI is so comfortable and smoother. But - bugs, bugs, bugs - not just mine, but as reported on the Blackmagic forum. Confirms my general view that we should never use apps that are less than 2-3 years old.
