      Air suspension on German cars are a known failure. A spring coilover setup is generally more durable and reliable. Besides airbags are just stupid, adds no value to the car and adds another layer of complexity to the car.

    • @filmandfirearms
      @filmandfirearms 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Anything more complex is going to be less reliable, and air suspension is much more complicated than springs

    • @HeliRy
      @HeliRy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Not as reliable as coil-overs and whatnot, generally speaking. But despite the popular misconceptions… they’re not prone to failure if installed correctly. Failure can of course happen, but we all also know “that guy” who had a shoddy coil over job that failed catastrophically.
      Whether or not it’s something that’s for you, is down to what you want it for. Pros and cons to both an air system and a coil over.

    1: I've heard of it and heard mixed things about it. A better suspension is live suspension. The system is always active and makes racing that much more improved. Bose built their own and due to weight was scrapped in place of the vehicles suspension and instead applied to Semi Truck seats.
    2: I've heard of this but it's not needed on the road. On tracks and car meets or car shows or parades it's fine.
    3: I've heard of this and an alternate cover is ceramic coating. I saw your last video on this and you convinced me to agree to it. I really should invest in getting a wrap.
    4: This is useful but more of a vanity than an actual purpose, but it's been used for so long that not a lot of people may care. You can always tell genuine from fake if you look close enough.
    5: I ain't gonna say "no" to protecting your car or yourself. You'd be surprised how strong and durable carbon fiber is but anything that can absorb the potential damage is a thumbs up from me.

  • @isaks3243
    @isaks3243 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I actually built my own custom active exhaust. I built a cross flow muffler with the regular path being two 90 degree bends which were connected directly to the muffler and the straight through just opened a butterfly valve which was re purpoused from an electronic throttle valve that I bought from the scrap yard and it made it so that the exhaust did have to go back and fourth inside the muffler and then take the two 90 degree turns and could instead exit straight out through the tail pipe.
    so I made an adjustable exhaust that was almost impossible to see that it was adjustable if you weren't crawling underneath my car and that wasn't possible without a jack or a lift.
    I had a 3 position switch inside the car which were programmed to be closed, 10% open or fully open. I personally think that the 10% open setting were the best sounding one so I was pretty much only using that mode and only going into closed mode when I was out late or in an area with a lot of houses so I didn't disturb the people who lived there.
    I have since sold that car and bought something that isn't too loud, nor too quiet. it is also a rare classic and I love that thing to bits =)

    Lowering a car is no different from lifting it, in my opinion. You trade between handling and ground clearance as you see fit, but I think the manufacturers usually get it right stock IMO

    It ain’t just old heads calling a lowered/stanced car being ruined; it’s also purists of various generations who get in their feelings because a car wasn’t kept stock or modded a certain way; namely heavily modifying performance which also can “ruin” your car (and chances are it’s usually someone who only upgraded their exhaust and intake, and plasti dipped their trim moldings)

    On the active exhaust note, might I suggest QTP cutouts? They install before your cats, and are controlled by a switch next to your seat. I had them installed on my old 2008 Dodge Charger srt8. When open, boy does the car sound loud! I live in So Cal, and drove by police, slowly, without a ticket, which surprised me. I also was able to pass smog. You can get a ticket for having them, but that’s with all modified exhausts. Supposedly they add power too, which I’m not sure of, but overall the qtp cut outs were a great addition!

    First of all it’s not ONLY the older people. Secondly, I was born in the 60s and most of the people I know who are real gear heads have known about adjustable suspension for ever. Hell they used it in drag racing since at-least the 70’s that I personally know about…and would guess probably before that.

    Literally all of these. So my affordable dream car is a c6 grandsport. Air suspension so I can lower and raise the car as I please in order to get of bumps or steep driveways while lowering it for looks and performance. Valved exhaust, I don't need to explain that one. Since victory red c6s are rarer than say a gray one or just a normal red I'd get one of the more common colors and wrap it victory red. Depending on the rims I'd either plasti dip them or just get new ones however no matter what id get c6 zr1 inspired sideskirts and spoiler and dip those to look like carbon. As with protection I'd go for both options for obvious reasons. Also tint the tail lights get black color c6 headlights, since c6 headlights are body colored, as well as a cam and headers.

    Slamming cars is a look I never really liked. I get that people do it, just not why. Tires jammed up into the wells looks stupid to me. I used to hate wraps, but then I saw a wrap that had a texture that looked cool and would be impossible to paint. I get the appeal. Rim savers are practical and look cool to me.
