- Remember when we all thought Stance was some dumb Car Mod Trend? That was over 10 years ago...yet here it is. Still with us. Permeating deeper into our brains. The Rice begins to coagulate in our veins...and before we know it. We too, have all become ricers.
Neon Under Glow
This trend did in fact die off from 2010 to 2016ish…then it suddenly started to resurface.
Vinyl wrapping has always been a thing for commercial vehicles for several decades now, but only just recently picked up traction in the past decade for personal vehicles.
Lowriders were very prevalent in the late 60s and early 70s and continued on into the 80s and 90s. However, as classic muscle cars started to appreciate in value, the trend of Lowriders started to dwindle down in the 2000s and early 2010s. They later had a resurgence in the modern era, one that would even reach worldwide!
Donks just always had a continued existence ever since cars existed. Cars ride on wheels. Some people really like wheels. Therefore, people were bound to obsess over wheels.

Just sitting on limiter, I don't understand.. However if it's slamming gears late at night, but not really going that fast(assuming it's relatively stock). This I can understand, engine roaring, shifting quick but going just above the speed limit.

@@BladedAngel a lot of people in Japan don't like Bosozoku because of one reason; what they're affiliated with. They're heavily associated with the Yakuza, which literally started because of the Bosozoku bikers. They're also associated with the Japanese alt-right/Nazi movement. Modern Bosozuku still are associated it with that for some people, but majority of the population just sees them as odd people and not as criminals anymore.
I adore underglow when used tastefully. If used Correctly, it can like upgrade the appearance of a car to a new level of cool
I agree with you and as a tech geek I absolutely love when it has some kind of cool effect. Something like they get brighter as your RPMs go up or something like that. I don't think that these things should be used regularly but in meets it just looks cool.

of all the trends mentioned, Lowriders definitely is my favorite.
I just love all the effort these guys put into even the smallest detail of their cars. To be 100% honest, a well done Lowrider gets me more moist than a Koenigsegg

I think partially the reason lowriders came back is because of gta san andreas, at least thats how I became a fan of them
I think thats partially true, but I also think it's because of rappers at the time too.

@@thebigpicture2032 you r a legend xD but get some that are waterproof, long enough and stuff. Ideally, I for example bough enough to go all the way around the car. It is like 5 meters ( 30 feet ) and it has microchips that form a rainbow colour. Aka it displays 7 colours AT ONCE isn't that cool ?

The term “rice” came from calling Japanese cars or cars with cheap Japanese parts “rice burners” the whole acronym thing came afterward. that's the truth regardless if it’s insensitive or not
@Glasspack40 I say putting any junk that doesn’t add performance on a slow car is rice: rgb headlights, stickers, aftermarket bumpers, scissors doors. There are all rice on slow cars, but don’t look like they are supposed to make it faster

Need For Speed did stop featuring underglow for a while until about 2018 when NFS Payback made underglow a premium feature. It was also standard in NFS Heat
Yeah. The last NFS that has underglow before Payback was Underground 2, which has 14 years gap.

I'm super glad under glow is back...even tho I'm not dying to do it (mostly because the 2 best colors for this Blue and Red play a dangerous line of what you can and can't use on the exterior of your car). But I gotta say I really wish stance would go away both the crazy camber (seems to be slowing down some) and stretched tires which is just a gawd awful look

I acknowledge the aesthetic extreme that stance & donks represent. Having said this, the pragmatist in me marvels that any company would issue insurance for road use (the more radical examples of stancing I mean).
Bōsōzoku must be under some show car policy with associated restrictions, I would imagine.

A trend that never died off that you overlooked in this video is minitrucking/slammed pickup trucks in general. Started back in the 80's, I remember it being popular when I was growing up in the 2000's and it's still pretty popular now.

Underglow, pounding stereos and all that stuff never left us. It just left the mainstream zeitgeist for while. Car audio was huge in the 80’s kinda died off in 90’s then huge again in 2000’s then slowed down again. But there’s always people rocking subs and stuff

Well, I have noticed something interesting about underglow: If I have it on during my deliveries, and the customer digs it, then they might leave a bigger tip than usual. I guess it's sort of like tipping certain kinds of entertainers or something.
Underglow also has a bit of a safety aspect, the more lit up you are the easier you are to see at night.
I bet you drive on the public roads with undergrow.

If you didnt know the bosozoku trend started wayyy back when kamikaze pilots who survived wanted to feel like they were years and years ago so they got motorcycles and modified them to make them really loud and fun and then the younger generation started to do it to actual motor vehicles

I learned something new.... "RICE" is now an acronym. "Ricer" or "rice burner" used to mean any small Japanese car with less than 8 cylinders. Used to be kinda a joke like "haha they run on rice because where they come from".

Rice Burner was originally a derogatory term for Japanese cars, and this got shortened to just "rice." To rice out a car meant to apply pointless visual modifications. The acronym of "Race Inspired Cosmic Enhancement" came much, much later. I was around in the late 80s and early 90s, so I witnessed this first hand.

I'm thinking about getting a small underflow strip for the front doors activated when I unlock the car so I can find the handles a little easier and find my car in the dark a bit quicker
I always felt like neons highlight my ride to the cops. I'll never go neon.
1: Camber needs to be reserved for cars that run the tracks.
2: Underglow is useful if you're stranded and need help, but your hazard lights exist already.
3: Vinyl Wrap is useful to let others know your business or interests. Plus you might as well just put a primer on and then wrap over the primer (unless the adhesive doesn't stick to the primer very well).
4: Low riding helps with stability and grip but your risk is pot holes and speed bumps.
O.M.: Donks don't appeal to me. You're sacrificing functionality just to make your rims more noticeable plus your sacrificing turn radius unless you want to add spacers then you're sacrificing fender.
5: Japan can keep it.

In Manitoba (and probably other places of canada) underglows, not having a front license plate, tinted windows and coloured headlights so we can only have fart cannon Civic's so we are pretty deprived of nice cars :(
