Big issue with burble tunes people don't think about. They make the car community look more like antisocial knobs. Burble tunes actively damage the reputation of car people.
@@SupraSav true but they don't do in in an obnoxious or annoying manner. I'm more on about the really loud and frequent stupid ones. I have a neighbour with an i20N and it's really cool however he does leave it on race mode a bit too much for a residential area sometimes, although less so nowadays.

For the Xenons, I'm sure for some people it was just a case of "haha light go blue" and well, most LEDs coming stock on a modern care are already using a colder color. And... truck owners and Audi drivers will be insulted, but there's also something called TOO BRIGHT
LOL, not insulted... as a truck owner, I do kinda apologize. I occasionally get people flashing me to "turn off my brights" when I'm on low beam, but damn, I can see a country mile at night.
My dad who is an audi owner is one of the few that use the lights normally not high beams or fog lights everywhere but alot of other drivers here during this time of the year use highbeams especially on the speedbumps
Now I can finally say "I own both a manual and an automatic car. I like them both." Granted said cars are polar opposites (1990 Miata and '66 Thunderbird, T-birds were only available with 3-speed autos), but their transmissions both suit their personalities perfectly. One thing I'll say about the three-speed "slushbox" that so many car guys vilify for being slow and inefficient, is that having fewer speeds lets the engine rev longer so you really get to hear the fun V8 noises, and then when it finally shifts it's like the whole car just relaxes as the RPM suddenly lowers. It's strangely calming. I feel like a lot of car guys get stuck in a niche and focus on a very particular vehicle type, and don't realize it can be really fun to experience and appreciate polar opposite ends of the automotive spectrum. I love my small darty manual sports car and my big heavy automatic lux-o-barge. They're fun in completely different ways and the contrast between the two highlights what makes both of them special.
I agree. You can like some of everything! My 2020 WRX and 1979 Jeep Wagoneer, 6 speed manual vs 3 speed automatic, are like two different planets. Both are special, the jeep being fun old school truck and surprisingly comfy to cruise in, and the Subaru super fun to shift through the gears and wind down the back roads.
Similar experience here. My first car was a '70 Firebird, a base 350 V8 with a 3 speed Hydromatic. It was already old when I bought it, but the transmission was smooth and shifted quickly, very well matched to the engine. It had so much torque that it never needed more gears (though an overdrive would have been nice) and was as fast or faster than most performance cars in 1990. Had to have it rebuilt and it was never as good. My 01 Miata has a six speed stick. Can be driven easy or frantic. The Miata is more of a precision instrument whereas the Firebird was more of a general bruiser. Both are/were gobs of fun.
@@gtowrx2001 Of course, it's also fun to find the surprising similarities between your different cars. Both of mine are RWD two-doors, and both of yours are AWD/4WD four-doors (IIRC). Completely different in all other regards of course, but it's fun how they can be similar in some ways and have completely different characters to them.
@@ThinginatorAnd it gets weirder, because I also own a 2004 Pontiac GTO and 1994 Buick Roadmaster Estate. GTO an Australian muscle car, the Buick a total Land Yacht. GTO and WRX are a 6 speed manual. Jeep and Buick are both comfy with smooth slushy 3/4 speed autos. GTO and Buick being V8 Rear Wheel Drive. The list could probably go on.
Italian here @BladedAngel I drive a manual and the company where I work produces a shitload of automatics. I personally don't see the issue: you want better gas mileage? Go with an automatic or learn how your manual behaves (it's still a bit worse but you can get close). You want an extra safety measure by using engine brake when you need it? Drive a manual. I don't understand Americans and their elitism for this kind of stuff... it should be common knowledge.
I can say the sense of elitism I think stems from clout culture, pursuing bragging rights over the dumbest shit. 20 years ago you wouldn't be made fun of as much for an automatic car as you are now. I plan to have both an automatic car and a manual car. I have had the opportunity to drive a stick through a friend, and it was indeed a lot of fun! But I also have had so much fun in my car, which is automatic.
yeah true (also italian here) i think this argument only works in america because people there don't even need to know how to drive manual to get a license
Manual transmissions didn't become popular in the United States until after the release of the first Fast and the Furious movie. Back in the day it was more of a class thing than performance, convenience, or efficiency. Before 2001 manual transmissions were seen as the "Poor man's option" here in the US. This isn't the first threat of a manual transmission extinction either. There are some articles and videos about the auto industry moving away from manual transmissions during a similar situation happening all the way back in the early 2000's. IIRC, one of the articles/videos is from a British publication and it's titled something like "How America Killed the Manual Transmission".
GTI owner and even I hate the burble tune. Also even though I would prefer an automatic transmission in my MK6 being able to shift through the gears is fun in my GTI.
i highly disagree. driving automatic destroys your driving skills, i have recently found this out on a business trip, co-worker was driving. guy had an automatic for only four years and had already forgotten the basics, it was terrifying.
I am European and I find it strange to hear that manuals are "overhyped", that sounds to me like saying that ICE are overhyped. Maybe this is what we will hear when EVs become mainstream? Since more efficient, quicker and less engaging can be attributed to both automatics and EVs.
I think it’s a “character” thing when it comes to vehicles. Especially when I comes to things that are louder and/or harder to operate. I’ve seen some folk decry electric dirt bikes making motocross less interesting as well as people crapping on four stroke engines and being nostalgic for the smell, sound, and difficulty of two stroke engines even one guy saying after seeing a guy struggle on a 2 stroke bike: “if you cannot ride a two stroke, you cannot handle life.”
What about manual windows mechanism - would you prefer this as well? The MT/AT doesn't make change what you drive, but how you operate the car. Unlike EV vs ICE changes entire concept and character of the vehicle.
@@AK.__ Not a valid comparision. Power windows are an accessory, like radio or AC, it doesn't affect how you drive the car, unlike MT/AT that changes how you directly interact with the powertrain. Also, compared to an AT ICE car, what major "concept" does the EV change? The fact that it makes less/different sound and has linear power delivery? It is still a car in the end and you interact the same way with it.
@@LAndrewsChannel Power windows aren't accessory any more. Yes, it was in the past. I never driven EV, but I've heard from people that they less use brake / accelerator, cause the car somehow "picks up by itself" needed speed. Plus technology differences - small motors instead of engine and some regenerating mechanisms. But again, just my opinion. AT and MT aren't much different, and in conditions of nowadays constant traffic, i prefer AT. (together with fact, that MT on the cars that I prefer will cost extra $$$)
@@AK.__ Power windows are 100% an accessory, they are not a core part of the car. The fact that they tend to be included in all new cars is irrelevant. Please refrain from making statements like "EVs change the entire concept" if most of your knowledge about them comes from hearsay, especially if you haven't even driven one. I have one and it literally drives like any AT car: you press accelerate to go faster and brake to slow down/stop/keep the car stopped. Lifting the pedal off the acceleration (and not braking) slow you down similar to engine braking (configurable behavior). You have the *option* to drive using a single pedal in some cars, but that doesn't mean it can't drive like a convetional AT ICE car. "small motors instead of engine" might be true for AWD EVs, but not for most single axle drive EVs, as they use a single motor. Also, the size of the motors is irrelevant, only their power output matters.
PPF is also real important in classic cars. I had my lancia stratos vandalized (because California) a few days ago, but because I have PPF I paid way less in the detail shop (actually I have insurance that covers all physical damages so I didn't pay anything).
@@ClydeismsI wouldn't recommend owning one, they break a lot. The V10 M5 of the early 2000s and the RX8 are more reliable cars. Unless you really want one like I did (I grew up watching the wrc and the stratos was what the countach was to most 90s kids) it's not worth it, even for resale value, the prices are really stable.
as someone who rides as well i think the main reason bikers dont brag about riding manual is because there isnt really much option otherwise. there are few offerings for motorcycles that have an automatic transmission and the weight and complexity they add usually outdoes any good they bring (except for perhaps those with disabilities) and so manual is essentialy the only choice for a motorcycle. and no im not including scooters because i personally class them as a slightly different mode of transport, in the same way i wouldnt talk about vans when talking about cars, even if that analogy doesnt perfectly translate i hope you see what i mean. pretty sure if there were more auto bikes you would still get a demographic of elitists sayiing that manual is better, which for motorcycles is almost objectively the case due to weight savings and simplicity
I think he's more mad about Can Ams being "Three Wheels" which even though it's classified legally as a "Motorcycle" it is indeed not a two-wheeled traditional Motorcycle. I still like Can Ams and am not an elitist towards them ( I still biker wave at them). But imo it's def a different riding experience. I don't mind them being Automatic though. My mom owned an automatic scooter (110cc Honda, it's pretty small too) and it's just so complicated to work on. One time I tried to replace the CVT belt by myself and I gave up in the middle because apparently I had to pull the entire engine and swing arm (because the CVT belt is inside the swing arm lol). It's not too hard, but there are too many bolts and I'm not patient enough lol. Had to call a guy to take care of the problem I did
I mean, there’s a reason paddle-shifters are used in motorsports. Truthfully speaking, for racing aside from drag, having control over the car’s gears still has its place, and it’s certainly for more than just maintaining competitiveness in these sports. Your car can only judge its shifts on limited information, it can only make decisions based on what’s happening in the moment directly on the car, it doesn’t see track ahead or know what the driver intends to do with it. In other words, pros still need that kind of control over the car to maximize its on-track effectiveness.
Finally someone calling out burble tune boys. I went to a few meets last year and each time my ears were almost bleeding from clout bois in their straight piped GTIs. I had fun trying to explain to my dad, a lifelong enthusiast, why anyone would do that to their car.
Regarding the lights: Laser>LED>Xenon>Halogen The difference between Halogen and Xenon is quite big, going from Xenon to LED or Laser, is less noticeable. Halogen has only 2 benefits; price and visibility during snow storms and fog (due to the yellowisch light)..
Laser headlight are so heavily regulated that most people never even get to use this feature. On any BMW with Laser headlights they only activate over 70km/h and no oncoming traffic for more than 700m. Barely any people ever got to see them in action.
The way to prove a manual transmission is the greatest part of a fun car is taking a slow car and putting a six speed manual in it. Instantly that car is a blast
My mom has a manual Kia Soul. It’s the definition of an economy box. It had to be one of the cheapest new cars available back in 2017. That trim didn’t even come stock with a wireless key or alarm lol. Doesn’t have more than 120 hp. But it’s small, light and has a 6-speed. It’s genuinely a fun little car to drive, I love it. And it gets like 40mpg driving conservatively. I’ve not driven an automatic Soul but I wouldn’t imagine it’s half as fun. Oh and with Kia’s immobilizer issues in those years, an auto would have definitely been stolen by now.
8:50 I don't have a problem with any of the 3 options for headlights but what I absolutely hate about headlights are non modular assemblies. Older halogen ones that need the entire headlight assembly to be replaced and newer LED assembly(looking at you BMW) can go FUCK OFF IN THE DEPTHS OF HELL. It's supposed to be one socketable bulb in a mountable and modular headlight assembly. End of story
Fair lmao! This makes me take for granted any Motorcycle Halogen is usually always jsut "Screw bulb out, put new one in". Never have to deal with redoing entire assemblies!
Manuals in the United States (I’m assuming Canada as well) are becoming more and more of a rarity both in making American cars and exporting to America, keep that in mind. Those elitists feel special within the context of the current American market. To manufacturers (domestic and foreign), automatic transmissions are the norm in the country/region.
I'd consider myself a bit of a manual elitist. I think a manual transmission is better for anyone who cares about driving and think that every sports car should have one available. That being said the reason we're angry and might lash out at automatic enthusiasts (which i don't necessarily agree with unless someone's being smug about the "death of the manual") is that we see manuals slowly disappearing from the world of sports cars. The problem isn't that automatics are available, but that an option to have a manual isn't there anymore... They can't be found in racing anymore (they remain only in very small/local categories) and it's becoming harder and harder to find a cool sports car with a manual on the used market. We're in a situation where automatics are being basically forced on us.
Manuals are still pretty good. I have a manual Corolla and previously drove the CVT and I can get the same fuel economy, no problem. It just takes more skill to get the same result. Manuals are absolutely more fun but they are not for everyone. You get back what you put in with manuals. But sometimes life is just exhausting and your car just shifting for you is really, really nice. There is no "better". Different strokes for different folks. The only difference is that learning to drive a manual, especially in North America, does deserve some bragging rights since it is a relatively rare skill.
It was never that manuals were better as much as automatics were worse back then. Still, I do think manuals are an experience of themselves and hold a place in automotive culture.
4:11 I agree with everything but this point. Recently a handful of automatic transmission motorcycles have gotten popular and I've seen many snobby people in the community swearing by their pedal start carburated bikes saying that there's "Too much electronics" and that "Riders are getting softer"
I hate those people who have the loudest setup they can possibly have on their 1.6 tdi literally the only mods they have is some glued on carbon parts, rep wheels and obnoxious gtis with their dsg farts
There is a difference between the DSG farts and a burble/pop&bang tune. The dsg farts when hard accelerating, with no tunes or mods as it is just a byproduct of the transmission. Other than that I agree with you, although from my experience it is normally the Focus/Fiesta ST boys that have the obnoxious pop&bang tunes.
I find nothing to be dumber than a car blasting past at 10 mph with a sounder louder than a broken jet engine. If the engine is actually working hard, sure enjoy some more dB, but if you're rolling through a parking lot I don't want to hear you.
4:15 while there is still a fair share of manuals in europe, it seems like if you want a new manual car here you either can't get a model in manual or only with the cheapest and weakest engine they have. also there has been a HUGE increase in SUV' sales here (atleast Switzerland) which I find quite sad. (note: european SUV's, with Audi and VW being really popular, not US SUV's)
I appreciated the gated manual from the 1st gen R8. I always say "manual is more fun for me and I am not a good enough driver for the faster automatic to matter "
I’ve never met someone where the fraction of a second gained by an automatic would have mattered. Unless you’re LITERALLY competitively racing the performance gained from an automatic is negligible
I'm gonna be real and honest, manuals are more fuel efficient, because you can keep the trans in one gear and not worry about it constantly deciding whether to upshift or downshift every 10 seconds.
my grandpa got his license in his 50s, and couldn't drive a manual so he had an automatic license (it's a thing in NL) he later redid his driving exam for manual so he could get a cheaper car, manuals are cheaper here
Definitely can confirm over the many cars ive owned so far in my short 8 years of driving that the manual vs automatic debate is just ridiculous. I used to swear by manuals myself as my first car was stick but then I got an automatic charger and having the two side by side I got manual when I wanted and Auto when I wanted. I enjoyed both. Now fast forward today where my love for MINI has had 2 years to mature I found I loved a good auto with paddle shifters just as much as I liked a good manual transmission. I traded in my R60 for an F60 and lost the paddle shifters and honestly slap shifting just isn't the same as those nice paddles. But I also have an R53 JCW with a manual and I love both my MINIs the same. I did find it comical the last one being about Xenon headlights because I wanted to make sure my R53 had the Xenons because that meant they had the projector headlights which honestly just look better to me than the standard reflective halogen headlight assembly. Very much a fan of projector headlights as I swapped the stock headlights on my charger for Spyder projectors and my Celica GTS also has projectors as well as both my MINIs.
Honestly most peoples cars would be fine with a set of Enkei RPF1's. Which are basically a more advanced version of a cast wheel. Idk exactly how Enkei's M.A.T. pricess works but for roughly $250-$300 a wheel theyre suprisingly lightweight, and surprisingly strong. They are a great wheel for track cars that arent super highend. And if you manage to break one they arent a grand to replace. Got a buddy who races in gridlife with them in the Street-Mod class woth over 550hp and has had no issues yet.
I think for me LED's are often to bright for their own good especially with how infrequently they are even aimed correctly there was a study at one point i can remember the exact figure but it was somewhere around 70% of all cars have miss aimed headlights
Honestly I love both automatic and manual transmissions. I don't fully know how to drive manual but I can shift through the gears no problem. When it comes down to it though I'd like to have both. Automatic is easier while manual is more fun.
im in the mindset of "manual superior" for two main reasons: 1) as you touched on, it's way more fun, its just so satisfying to throw the shifter around and just feel the car react 2) the really big one, i believe them to be safer because, mentally, you are forced into a predictive mindset instead of a reactive one. say someone is trying to pull out in front of you, you are *forced* to pay attention and predict what other people might do in order to actually, yknow, make the car work, whereas with an automatic, you can just react instead because there's not much thought required. idk how else to explain it, its weird, i just mentally feel like a safer driver behind a manual the real tragedy is that pretty soon if EVs ever work through their teething issues, we won't have any transmissions left of any kind :(
I've recently got myself a racing sim with a clutch pedal and shifter. It's a lot of fun to drive a manual on the sim since I haven't had an oppportunity to drive them IRL. Whenever the transmission gives out on my gt86, I'm swapping it.
I like a manual because of how engaging it is. I feel what makes the experience is the relationship between man and machine and to push the limits of both the car and your skills
9:12 Even if xenons are not brighter then halogen/incandescent headlights, people see better at night under cooler (bluer) light, so they likely feel that way. Note though that this is not a limitation for LEDs, since they can be made in whichever light temperature you prefer (or even make them adjustable).
2:38 honestly day to day and if have to have only one car it would be without a doubt a automatic... But still it's fun to go to a deserted windy road and shift up and down and try all of those techniques of shifting like heel and toe and simple rev matches... But yes day to day automatic it is
Hey and greetings from Germany On the subject of automatic vs manual, I am a mechanic, I have two cars. An old Mercedes W124 and a Toyota Hilux, both manual because easy to repair and also more maintenance-friendly.
I LOVED the part that has the Indian granny! 😂 Also, DAMN we Indians get all the tech stuff so late, im from 2008 and all the Xenon headlight stuff is the stuff i saw with my own eyes in mid 2010's 💀
Also from India love the videos btw. So manuals used to be the only option (I think ) way long ago, they still are on motorbikes the only option m But now on cars we also have automatic and dct options. But 90% of the population still drive a manual. From the 70 year old grandpa in his zen to the 20 year old on their bikes
Both manual and automatic have their pros and cons, i like stick just because it just makes me happy to drive, it makes almost any car fun to drive imo but i will never knock a car for being auto instead of stick
idk, i loved the Yellow lights on lemans that some cars had in the past. Lemans 24 game intro for all those you who wanna see what i mean, those black with yellow stripe vipers and Yellow lights! amazing
pro tip, save money and waist and increase enjoyment: if you run through boots in a year and see them as a wear item, stop replacing them constantly. buy a really good, comfortable and durable pair, and then instead of replacing them, take them to a cobbler and have them repaired/ sole replaced. so few people these days have ever had a shoe repaired because they’re seen as a replacement item
manual transmissions are my go-to, could care less what anyone else drives, I also have 2 motorcycles and a quad, all in manual, my wife has automatic transmissions in her car and quad, it's all about preference, not what is better or not.
As someone who has had all three types of headlights I would say leds are brighter and cheaper than hids, but hids are also not all that bad its just a preference that people have.
The problem with Auto over Stick is that at this point, we know it is slower. Hard to compete with a well built 8-10 speed auto. But it is such a more entertaining ride. I will never have the fastest car and with HP number now, I don’t want them. Auto is so much faster straight line nowadays, but man are they boring. I miss my stick shift dearly and am looking at what my options are now.
If you have a halogen bulb, I always recommend Sylvania silver star ultra. Fantastic drop in upgrade. Keeps the original beam pattern, and has a better light projection.
idk if this is actually true, but the reason i put off LED lights is cuz they’re so frikin bright, like i actually cant handle it(atleast the high beam)
As a German, I had to decide when I got my driver's license whether I ever wanted to drive a manual car or not. Here you have to complete the driving lessons and, at the time, the final test with a manual transmission in order to be allowed to drive manual cars later on. When I bought my first car for €2000 when I was 18 (Ford Fiesta 2006), only the manual version was available at that price, the automatic alternative was much more expensive. In my opinion, the price is the main advantage these days. Having driven both types of car a lot, I opted for the manual version for my last purchase (Audi A4 Cabrio 3.0), as I see driving pleasure as the top priority in a sporty but relatively slow convertible. In the end, both transmissions have their advantages and disadvantages. As a commuter vehicle, I prefer automatic these days, while for "fun cars" I prefer manual.
I drive an 01 Miata with a manual transmission, so speed was never the main objective for me. I just genuinely prefer the tactile sensation of shifting the car myself, especially since my daily driver is a traditional sports car. That most of my American countrymen can't actually drive it is a fun bonus. I've had young people drive up in fast cars and give me flak, and it's fun to watch them lose their minds when I look over and say something like "ah, wimp shift, eh?" Cue yelling and cussing, insulted manhood galore. Ain't a feelin' like it in the world.
I worked in automotive parts for years in both independent shops and dealerships. The inexpensive xenon bulbs are the same thing as halogens, but using mostly xenon gas as the inert filler that prevents the filament from burning out 2 seconds after you turn the lights on. The xenon gas causes the filament to glow at much whiter than the yellowish color halogens put out. Some people find this helps visibility, but it's subjective, as the actual lumen count is usually nearly identical to the halogen bulbs. I think the real reason it caught on is because HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps use xenon gas in their capsules, making people think they were getting the high output light like expensive cars. Real HID bulbs put out more light than halogen or LED bulbs, but are very cost prohibitive to retrofit into cars with an actual quality product. If you want better light for your car, get a $100 LED kit (not the cheap kits on amazon or ebay) and enjoy the brighter roads. Remember to AIM the headlights after installing (Don't be like the Jeep Wrangler owners, I swear they have a rule that they're not allowed to aim headlights properly or something)
Can't lie, I'd totally do a burble tune on a ecoboost Mustang as a troll build for car meets. Do all the aesthetic things you'd do to a V8, but then just ricer boy down the street fartin' up a storm.
Want to add to the manual hype. Paddle shifter literally allows you to choose gear and honestly it makes me feel like 8 year old me playing NFS on PSP.
Manual transmissions are not always more reliable. With a few cars (the 9th generation Corolla comes to mind here) people actually advice to get the automatic as it is actually more reliable. That explains why every other 9th gen Corolla is an automatic. In some other cars, both the manual and automatic transmissions are problematic (early 2000's Minis).
main reason why halogen lamps are still around? as you've mentioned, xenons aren't actually that beneficial to the one driving the car, but one thing they ARE very good at is blinding oncoming traffic. same is true for LEDs, only that those come with the additional problem of not generating enough heat to keep your headlights defrosted, meaning you'd need to install heating into the headlights, which defeats the entire purpose of LEDs being more efficient.
My E46 has Xenon’s from factory. I love how they look, but the headlight housings are $300 a piece used. Not worth it by any means, but they do look cool.
To be fair porsche did say that manuals will always have less drivetrain loss then autos even dual clutches and will feel more rev happy which still confuses me how that works but I do see cost of repair and reliability being easier to work on I don't care when people say they prefer one or the other but I do hate the people that are elitist and try to say that autos are infinitely better than either because in my honest opinion there are downsides and upsides to each autos have their benefit being a bit more relaxing and also being fairly fast and easy, but you can't beat the connection of a manual of a bike or car with the clutch feel and control of how rpms are leveled and all that stuff and I hate the auto elitists that are like manuals are dog and they are completely obsolete there is no difference in feel control or all that stuff and they are more reliable to which I say to you that you most likely have never driven anything in real life and think that a sim perfectly replicates real life feel when in Sims a clutch is basically an on and off switch especially in forza
Xenon and HID headlights are an absurd expense, I used to work at an O’Reillys and HID headlights were about $130 PER BULB that more expensive than a pair of LED bulbs while the LEDs are going to be brighter, more reliable, and easier to find replacements for.
For HID bulbs it does make a difference, while measured light output can be the same, our eyes are more sensitive to the bluer light produced so perceived brightness is higher. It’s why if you have 2 identical LED bulbs shining on something the cooler color one will look brighter
Indian here, can confirm that my grandmother knows how to drive manual and honestly she's probably better than me at it

Not to mention it’s good modern anti-theft device :) but who would want to steal a 20 year old golf am I right
Realest thing I’ve ever read
hear that, i've driven in economy shitboxes with stick and well it still can be fun

Same my gti catback burbles just a little bit at low rpm, but whole cracks and pops seem a bit obnoxious lol
@@JustatoasterSame, granted I also have a downpipe, but I still get a little bit of burbles at low rpms and if I'm hard accelerating I get the DSG farts. Hell, my wife's 07 Mazda 3 burbles at low rpms with a car back.

I get automatics are fast now. But can we all agree that CVT with fake shifts are the worst option?
This 👏
So you'd like a CVT that sounds like a farting pig, like Toyota's, instead of a eCVT like Honda's? :)
@Just_3lite I've got a CVT (at least it doesn't fake shift) and I am TERRIFIED for that transmission swap bill 😂
@@BladedAngelthe only CVT that’s good is if it’s mated to a motorcycle/atv/snowmobile engine. Swap one of those baby’s into an Uber-light car like a midget or Miata and your cooking!
Yes. Automakers, if you are listening, please stop programming CVTs to do non-CVT things. It literally makes no sense and is super lame.
Big issue with burble tunes people don't think about. They make the car community look more like antisocial knobs. Burble tunes actively damage the reputation of car people.
Yeah, its like Takeover Culture. The News loves ripping "Car Guys" apart for Burble tunes and street takeovers...BUT WE DON'T CLAIM THOSE MFS!!
Lots of sports do that from factory, usually the higher performance ones/exotic cars. Even cars like the Elantra N, MKV Supra have factory burbles.
my ttrs burbles stock lol no pops and bangs but a nice burble , also manual haha but here in the uk 9 out of 10 cars are manual
@@SupraSav true but they don't do in in an obnoxious or annoying manner. I'm more on about the really loud and frequent stupid ones. I have a neighbour with an i20N and it's really cool however he does leave it on race mode a bit too much for a residential area sometimes, although less so nowadays.
That's Crackling not Burble Tunes. Burble Tunes is also known as AK47 Tune cuz it is LOUD. Videos NEVER do it justice. I've heard stock Supra Crackles from factory and it's a nice sound. Not even close to obnoxious/ear shattering that custom burble tunes do....
Same with JAG SVR. That car just crackles, doesn't AK47@@SupraSav
For the Xenons, I'm sure for some people it was just a case of "haha light go blue" and well, most LEDs coming stock on a modern care are already using a colder color.
And... truck owners and Audi drivers will be insulted, but there's also something called TOO BRIGHT
Most Truck Low Beams blind me when I'm in a Miata LOL. Thankfully my Vette roofline is usually just tall enough to be out of their lights.
LOL, not insulted... as a truck owner, I do kinda apologize. I occasionally get people flashing me to "turn off my brights" when I'm on low beam, but damn, I can see a country mile at night.
Xenons were just pretty and different back then
Me on my incandescent headlights still just crying when leds come head on in my mr2

Underrated car mod #1 - The driver
The most dangerous part of a car is the nut behind the wheel.
I think anyone who has been blinded by trucks with LED headlights can attest that they're much brighter than halogens or xenons.
Not necessarily. Very often the beam pattern is just more blinding because of the unsuitable light source configuration.
@@GoldenCroc it's just the lights being higher up, at some point a lower car just has to go through the light cone.
Italian here @BladedAngel
I drive a manual and the company where I work produces a shitload of automatics.
6:43 This is how a feel about vehicles in general. I want to use them as i want, i really don't want to get obssesed with re-sale value.
GTI owner and even I hate the burble tune. Also even though I would prefer an automatic transmission in my MK6 being able to shift through the gears is fun in my GTI.
Burble tunes are God awful.

driving automatic destroys your driving skills, i have recently found this out on a business trip, co-worker was driving.
guy had an automatic for only four years and had already forgotten the basics, it was terrifying.
@@windhelmguard5295 oh, this is very true. I drive for a living and automatics and driving aids have made people worse drivers.
That's a beautiful car. I would love to drive one someday
Oh yes! I forgot. You guys often have discontinued Paint Codes, so yeah I would PPF them too!
no shot you own a Stratos. I love that thing
as someone who rides as well i think the main reason bikers dont brag about riding manual is because there isnt really much option otherwise. there are few offerings for motorcycles that have an automatic transmission and the weight and complexity they add usually outdoes any good they bring (except for perhaps those with disabilities) and so manual is essentialy the only choice for a motorcycle. and no im not including scooters because i personally class them as a slightly different mode of transport, in the same way i wouldnt talk about vans when talking about cars, even if that analogy doesnt perfectly translate i hope you see what i mean. pretty sure if there were more auto bikes you would still get a demographic of elitists sayiing that manual is better, which for motorcycles is almost objectively the case due to weight savings and simplicity
And yet, clowns like Yammie Noob would say that automatic bikes and Can-Ams are not valid and to get a "ReAl BikE".
I really wanted to buy a Can-Am, until I more-recently learned of the Honda VFR1200. Now, I have a crazy idea to convert one into a reverse trike. Gearheads are weird. Being disabled, I can't ride 2 wheels, and a clutch can be a pain.
Had to call a guy to take care of the problem I did
bro mentioned xenon headlights and unlocked a core memory that i didn't know i had

Regarding the lights: Laser>LED>Xenon>Halogen
The difference between Halogen and Xenon is quite big, going from Xenon to LED or Laser, is less noticeable.

We're in a situation where automatics are being basically forced on us.
bro is the moist critical of cars and bikes
The thing I absolutely hate about burble tunes is that I get so paranoid that it's a gun, like genuine fear shoots through me
Brazilian here, Xenon’s still matter here
4:11 I agree with everything but this point. Recently a handful of automatic transmission motorcycles have gotten popular and I've seen many snobby people in the community swearing by their pedal start carburated bikes saying that there's "Too much electronics" and that "Riders are getting softer"

I love driving manual cars on the road but on the track it's kind of a ginormous pita and I would definitely prefer a DCT/DSG.
Sorry bladed but most old heads won’t hear it about automatics, they still seem to think they shift faster in stick and are more fuel efficient.
I'm gonna be real and honest, manuals are more fuel efficient, because you can keep the trans in one gear and not worry about it constantly deciding whether to upshift or downshift every 10 seconds.
my grandpa got his license in his 50s, and couldn't drive a manual so he had an automatic license (it's a thing in NL)
he later redid his driving exam for manual so he could get a cheaper car, manuals are cheaper here
Definitely can confirm over the many cars ive owned so far in my short 8 years of driving that the manual vs automatic debate is just ridiculous.
I've always preferred Manuals, but lately I've driven a few performance automatics and they actually felt fine
I think for me LED's are often to bright for their own good especially with how infrequently they are even aimed correctly there was a study at one point i can remember the exact figure but it was somewhere around 70% of all cars have miss aimed headlights
3:46 with the cellphone example 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly I love both automatic and manual transmissions. I don't fully know how to drive manual but I can shift through the gears no problem. When it comes down to it though I'd like to have both. Automatic is easier while manual is more fun.
im in the mindset of "manual superior" for two main reasons:
1) as you touched on, it's way more fun, its just so satisfying to throw the shifter around and just feel the car react
2) the really big one, i believe them to be safer because, mentally, you are forced into a predictive mindset instead of a reactive one. say someone is trying to pull out in front of you, you are *forced* to pay attention and predict what other people might do in order to actually, yknow, make the car work, whereas with an automatic, you can just react instead because there's not much thought required. idk how else to explain it, its weird, i just mentally feel like a safer driver behind a manual
the real tragedy is that pretty soon if EVs ever work through their teething issues, we won't have any transmissions left of any kind :(
I've recently got myself a racing sim with a clutch pedal and shifter.
Yeah. I feel like it keeps me more focused.
9:12 Even if xenons are not brighter then halogen/incandescent headlights, people see better at night under cooler (bluer) light, so they likely feel that way. Note though that this is not a limitation for LEDs, since they can be made in whichever light temperature you prefer (or even make them adjustable).
Xenons were potentially quite a bit brighter than halogen.
Automatic is actually amazing. Manual is fun, but for daily driving I'd take a auto any day
2:38 honestly day to day and if have to have only one car it would be without a doubt a automatic... But still it's fun to go to a deserted windy road and shift up and down and try all of those techniques of shifting like heel and toe and simple rev matches... But yes day to day automatic it is
PPF would only make sense if you live in a place that always rain like Washington State or England for example, or in a dry humid tropical place
The only time I hype up manuals is when people say that electric cars have no souls. My response is automatics don't have any souls.

pro tip, save money and waist and increase enjoyment: if you run through boots in a year and see them as a wear item, stop replacing them constantly. buy a really good, comfortable and durable pair, and then instead of replacing them, take them to a cobbler and have them repaired/ sole replaced. so few people these days have ever had a shoe repaired because they’re seen as a replacement item
manual transmissions are my go-to, could care less what anyone else drives, I also have 2 motorcycles and a quad, all in manual, my wife has automatic transmissions in her car and quad, it's all about preference, not what is better or not.
I hate all those unnecessarily obnoxious exhausts. Stock E39 M5 is pure perfection.
I want to learn how to drive manual but can't afford to buy a cheap car to learn
2:07 Yes, but bikes enthusiasts are worst than manual enjoyers. Also, I own a Yamaha.
My camaro came with HID. Fuck that. $700 for 1 housing while halogen is $300 for a pair
As Indian man you right we don’t know how we do it but we do it smoothly
The main issue with xenon for me is how RIDICULOUSLY expensive it is to change
As an indian i agree here no one even asks if you know how to drive a manual cuz everyone drives a manual
For HID bulbs it does make a difference, while measured light output can be the same, our eyes are more sensitive to the bluer light produced so perceived brightness is higher. It’s why if you have 2 identical LED bulbs shining on something the cooler color one will look brighter
I would add splitters and aero diffusers. Especially when it's installed on regular cars.
