    "The screw hitting the motor" is supposed to that's your idle adjustment the screw your saying is the idle is the air/fuel mixture turned in is lean out is rich and a great way to destroy a cylinder wall.

    Great video! Watching all of your motor repairs make me realize just how dang sensitive the fuel systems are on all these outboards. My 1983 b100 runs great thanks to your vids. 🤙

    Bruh. That nut you took off of the engine because it was “hitting the engine” is you idle screw. You need to push that back up and the screw you put tape on moves around in an oval to adjust to the line on the cam.

    That little screw with a plastic piece that you put electrical tape on that is an offset centered cam bolt so you can loosen that Phillips head screw and nuts and that plastic piece is actually an offset eccentric. Try that to take that play out of that arm.

      Gene, I just bought a boat with this similar motor. Do you know any more good videos related to this motor? We need to pool our ideas, issues and fixes.

    Did you have a cover or partial cover over your intake? I have the same carb/motor and I'm dealing with it running way to lean with liquid gas pouring out of the intake. Pretty sure it's a clogged jet, even though I cleaned it thoroughly. If I put my hand over the intake I can get it to idle. Taking my hand off, it stalls out.

      @@Jasonr64 Mine didn’t have a cover. Leaking gas sounds like the float might be sticking. I’d check your float height, inspect the needle, make sure the needle is seated properly. Also sounds like your air mixture screw could potentially need adjustment

    • @Jasonr64
      @Jasonr64 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sacratboatingandfishing float is good. Checked several times. My guess is that I’ve got a clogged jet that’s not atomizing the fuel properly or like you said something is going on with the idle mixture screw. Thanks for the quick reply!

    What throttle control are you using?

    So I have a very similar force motor, how do you start yours? Sounds like a dumb question, but I'm super new to outboards.

    Does your motor got a tell-tail pee stream on it? Curiouse cause i got the 40hp and from what I’ve seen I don’t have one

    • @officialWWM
      @officialWWM ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol, if you don’t have one, your motor will overheat because the impeller is shot. That’s the entire reason why outboards have the telltale!

    • @PickwickPirate
      @PickwickPirate 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Force 40’s don’t have a tell tale, there’s a spot on the head you can put one in though.

    My 50 hp force stays in gear for like 10 seconds after I move the handle to neutral. Also idles too high. I think I need instructions on cable/idle adjustment.

      I’ll tell you what I know/remember for sure which is not much. My fishing, buddy who is the jack of all trades came over and we fiddled around with the idle screw and the shift linkage until we got the right combination. With the boat out of the water, it worked great, going in and out of gear as it should, but when I got in the water It acted up again. I think I’m going to tweek it one way or the other (trial and error) until it’s right. My advise is to adjust the idle screw until you’re happy with the idle level and then adjust the shift linkage. It’s been awhile so that all I remember. Please let me know if you get it right. Good luck.

      @@RogerDoles I got it going but it seems like the low speed idle timing is off and misfiring. This is because I messed with the timing linkages, from the flywheel down to the carb throttle

      I can take a picture of mine tomorrow and we can compare adjustments. Mine runs really good. Starts up so quick I tell people I could start it 2 AA’s 😂 BTW, do you have a service manual?

  • @ct1762
    @ct1762 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    dude you need the SERVICE MANUAL for the proper synch n link procedure for this motor! you see that little hash mark on the throttle cam? the cam roller is supposed to be dead center of it with a .010'' gap. why you put electrical tape in it is just crazy. IT IS NOT supposed to move the throttle butterfly the instant you hit the throttle! Why? because too much fuel and not enough timing will make it idle inconsistently and stumble on hard acceleration.
