Martin's boat is a one of a kind eclectic masterpiece of sailing awesomeness. To think he has 95k nautical miles on his yacht shows he is a great and talented sailor as well. Thanks for introducing us to him Sam. Fair winds and safe travels Martin!
Everything Hupsakee , couldn’t be any better , tot hier aan toe and so on , Nice to hear this Dutchlish …Very inspirational , Martin knows what he ‘ s doing and did everything by himself. An older Sam , must have been a very exciting experience for you Sam 👌 thanks for sharing to all of us !
We met Martijn today in Oriental, NC. He is one very interesting person! He was very cordial and allowed us to board the Prinses Mia, check out the entire boat. Happy sailing, Martijn! Thanks for the continued great content, Sam. Really enjoy all your videos!
An incredible boat, all the work required and the colorful painting makes it. I noticed one thing missing which probably explains how he is able to spend so much time working on his boat, no TV.
What a fascinating vessel 🤩 It was like something out of Waterworld. While it was a bit hard to pick out every word, I didn't have any problems following the gist. I think I speak for most of us when I say that Martjin's English is way better than our Dutch would be 😂
Hello Sam thank you so much for sharing martins story. I love everything about his boat. The inside has huge space and a shop and space to work on his engine. Inside pilothouse is beautiful set up I will subscribe to his channel to you both got it together with knowledge. Take care Sam and tell martin thank you also. From Ray Garrett Roseville California USA.
It's a great looking boat, so spacious, the pilot house is a great feature (sail in heavy rains and winds in comfort). The boat has Martin's signature. I think dyneema is a lightweight tent material too; I didn't know it was so strong.
What a lifetime boat. I love those old Colin Archer designs, super sea boats that were designed to sail as well backwards as forwards! They were designed as Norwegian lifeboats that accompanied the Norwegian fishing fleets when they went on group fishing trips to offshore fishing grounds. Great boat tour and I just am mad about “different” boats from all the usual “Tupperware teapots” that are everywhere! SkipRay.
I love old boats.. pretty spacious too.. sam you need space like this... haha... I love those doors and that helm looks nice when it gets wet outside, salon and engine room have lots of room too... awesome video..
Yes, the Dutch are a seafaring people! They have to be they are about 40% below sea level! Martijn is a great example of their ingenuity and can-do-ness. To those who can't understand him, you just aren't listening hard enough. I find that if I really concentrate, I can understand them even when they speak Dutch. It is very similar to English. Also, pay attention to context clues, like Sam was giving in his questions and comments.
That was so cool !! Thank you Sam and Martin for sharing. Sam has new long term goals it's in his eyes. I love how you captured so much truth about how most of us get caught up chasing standards rather than thinking outside the box and being individual.
"The name is Bond, James Bond." Awesome video about this person, but he does sound like Sir Sean Connery talking about his ship after a couple of espressos ! That is a compliment as I just miss Sean. Great video; thank you!
Martijn's previous boat was Rotop. He did lots of hard work converting that. Sailed thousands of miles in it and Drake Paragon channel did three features on his life aboard 'Rotop Orinoco Venezuela', 'Rotop Chesapeak' and 'Visiting friends Rotop' in three parts.
Great introduction to what can be done with imagination and endless vision. Sam, that very well could be you along life's way. Thanks for sharing. Btw, the daily video was a great ideal. Something to look forward to most every day.
Don't get me wrong Sam, but get that mic within 3' of the person you're talking to, couldn't hear your Dyneema conversation. Other than that great film!
Incredible ship!! But enjoy and keep on sailing what u got Sam. U already know your boat REAL well and have a lot of sweat equity in getting to know that boat, what it can do, and what it can take. You can take off for a days sail whereas a ship of this size is always in the back of your mind. jmo
Wow Martin the Mad Dutchman haha, what an interesting Guy and what a beast of a boat !!! a Few tons i n that one 🤤 thats not a bow spirit.... this is a bow spirit.....😁!! I could see Sams cogs turning !!😊
What this stirred up in that beautiful head of your with all your great questions and Martin's answers...cant wait to see what you engineer. Builders...take note
Im interested in what transmission and prop shaft setup he has on that Mercedes motor. Kinda cool, common automotive engine parts should be available and cheap.n
Wow! I need subtitles. I can’t understand a word he says. It’s probably very interesting. I wish I could understand him better. Perhaps the ambient ocean sounds are adding to this.
Lately it seems I can never hear what people are saying, I think older cameras had better microphone or something Video is better i dont know what it is.

He is Dutch guy.
Do you know who built it?
Martin is just as interesting as his boat, what a unique person and boat. Big thumbs up!
Well Sam, you’ve finally met your match. Something tells me you may be on a similar boat one day. What’s not to like? Thanks for taking us along. 👍👍👍
Wow, talk about unique. Martin needs to have this boat shown off. Glad you shared it with us Sam.

He stayed there for a couple of years or he swung back through?
@@dentside78 - he was just passing through, as far as we could ascertain.
martin is so awesone, and so is his boat that he refurbished so much, what a treat!
An incredible boat, all the work required and the colorful painting makes it. I noticed one thing missing which probably explains how he is able to spend so much time working on his boat, no TV.
He does have a TV and stacks of dvds for watching on Rainy days. But when you are single handing a beauty like Prinses there is no time...
Awesome! What a cool boat. Martin has wicked skills. I'm jealous. Thanks for the ride and tour.

I found that when I turned the volume up that helped greatly.

That was absolutely fascinating! What an amazing creation. Thanks Sam for showing this ship.
I think we saw you out sailing on that last week! Definantly eye catching sails!

Designed by a Scotsman.
Nice boat and a great shop!
I wish I could hit the like button 100 times! What a boat!

I love old boats.. pretty spacious too.. sam you need space like this... haha... I love those doors and that helm looks nice when it gets wet outside, salon and engine room have lots of room too... awesome video..
Wow! Looks to be the OM603 diesel engine. I don't know much about boats but this one looks set up very nicely
It seems that this motor is working only with filtered frying oil.
That is one cool af boat. Thanks for sharing
Martin is a gem to get to that point it takes a whole Lotta work and artist creativity
Fantastic interview with the captain. Well done.
Awesome guy ! Awesome boat ! Thank You
“Yep” 😂😂 Great video and interview!! 👏👏👏
Awesome boat. Would love to have something that size. Workshop onboard is the best and the motor in an open room!

Martin is another awesome guy out there on the water!
Wow, what a boat. Thanks for that visit.
Wow Sam, thanks for sharing this amazing ship. Love a steel boat and Martin is delightful. ⛵️⛵️🥰
That was so cool !! Thank you Sam and Martin for sharing. Sam has new long term goals it's in his eyes. I love how you captured so much truth about how most of us get caught up chasing standards rather than thinking outside the box and being individual.
That boat and cap. Rock. I so wish I could have hung out with you guys that day. Awesome 👍
That was so awesome. Just pure ingenuity all around. Would love to see you guys collab again in the future.
What an awesome boat
I saw Prinses Mia while sailing today at Oriental. Quite distinctive to say the least.
Cheers to Martin. So many talents. And conversing in a second language like that.
Great episode! Thanks Sam.
Aft cabin, center cockpit pilot house would be nice...maybe my next boat.
"The name is Bond, James Bond." Awesome video about this person, but he does sound like Sir Sean Connery talking about his ship after a couple of espressos ! That is a compliment as I just miss Sean. Great video; thank you!
Knew I recognized that boat from somewhere. Prinses Mia anchored in Gloucester MA today.
Right on. Martin is super friendly. If you go say hi he’ll probably invite you out for a sail.
Hey Martin, Wally from Gypsy Wind here. Good to see you still out here and enjoying your boat. Hope to catch up with you sometime this year.
Martin is Dutch. No way to stop these guys. Doesn't even TRY to speak English. LOL. Love it!
Great boat and I did understand understand most of what he said. It was not big issue for me .Thanks.

For a 50' ship, she has a lot of room and places to stay comfortable. Nice job on making it your own ship Martin. Fair winds and calm seas to you.
Thanks Sam. Really good to see other ways of doing things.
wow cool boat....great video!
Super video! I applauded for $2.00 👏
Dyneema is the material used for modern compound bow strings and cables. Stronger than steel (by same size) and it doesn't rust!
Nice video. I saw this boat at the town dock last weekend. Glad you did this video!
So awesome its like a museum!
Great vid Sam, Martijn sure is a Sea Gypsey!
Great video Martin and boat are very interesting
Nice original looking boat and classy too!

I'm in the process of acquiring a sportfish 40' and repurposing some equipment for long distance voyaging. This video really hit home, thanks.

That boat was so cool. Model boats in his boat.☺️
Im interested in what transmission and prop shaft setup he has on that Mercedes motor.
Kinda cool, common automotive engine parts should be available and cheap.n
The boat is fabulous, Martin knows his stuff but I barely understood a word he said!
Almost room for cannons. Great ⛵.
That is a very cool sailboat.
This guy Martin is a true pirate lol love the boat

Wow! Thanks for sharing
Love the sign on the door to the head. "Poop Deck"
Wild bowsprit! I'm betting those folks spend most their time at anchor; paying moorage for the bowsprit would be painful!
Great Cozy Boat
Incredible . So inspiring
