Just had to drill 1 more hole before you pushed off lol. You already know to snug things down Sam thing going to fly all over the boat lol. Good to see you back on the water Sam. Stay safe God bless you Sam. Boat looking realy good.
Congrats on your first sail! We are across the Neuse off Clubfoot Creek. We are waiting for new sails so hopefully we will pass you by in July! Happy Sails, Sam.
Excellent! So friggin great. Here in japan the over caution of covid, all sailing has been cancelled each month with my group. Frustrating...BUT Sam shows me a new possibility and i do so hope to follow his blazing path through the sea!
Wow the dodger worked wonders for the audio ! A camera mount into the dodger would probably make a great addition and you wouldnt have to do any more drilling into the deck
Sam, Glad to see you had not left yet. But I can tell you are getting very close to your departure date. I want to say your dodger looks very nice. Had I not known I would say it was professionally built. Btw I think the method you used to fasten the corners were ingenious. Best of luck to you.🙏
I hope you're done cutting holes, but in case not here's a tip: start with the drill in reverse until you've established a groove, then forward. Much less "grabby."
Great meeting you at the Oriental YC!. Much progress. Oh . . WAIT! . . another big hole drilled in the boat? Might suggest windscreen and headband mount for the camera?
Maybe it’s just all those engineer classes I took but I think I would have rigged up a dorade box for the wires to go up and over into and then over and then down so any water that did go up into the tube would then fall and drain out with less likely chance of getting into the boat of course it would be more complicated but isn’t that what engineering is all about, “let’s make it more complicated!”
Can't blame him, he's put in so much time into refitting the boat, and he's so close to finally start sailing - the whole point of all the hard work. He's chomping at the bit at this point. Can't let perfect be the enemy of good.
Nice to see I'm not the only one who leaves his fenders out during a day sail. 😃 You might think about stuffing some monkey shit into that hose through which your running those cables from the mast. Make it pretty much water tight. No idea where you'd get monkey shit, but its what we used to use in the Navy to seal up cable runs through bulkheads to preserve our watertight integrity between spaces. Im sure that's not the proper name. Its kind of like plumber's putty. In fact, plumber's putty might do the trick. It'll seal and last while still being able to easily remove it if and when necessary. On edit: Apparently monkey shit is just a colloquial name, and the proper name is duct seal compound, or stuffing tube compound. It's thick and viscous and stays in place really well but never hardens.
just before you inserted the drill in there i was so sure that this is an awful idea (in the sense that you will hit metal supporting the mast if you do that. should offset things from the mast line if you want to avoid such things :)
Sam! Love what you did, been looking at installing an swan neck on my cape dory 27! Where’d you get it? Also, was there any wood core where you drilled through the integral steel mast plate ?
I've noticed Sam seems to like to drill holes in his boat....just a few...if a video goes by without the Ryobi cordless making an appearance, I start to worry that something is wrong....
How about a little thanks to all before you that made your life style possible. The oceans you cross are burial grounds for many . Thank God you can do what you do. I enjoy your viseos
Sams ship... is leaving on 3 year tour... next tide takes him from shore... Starbuck is sharpening is harpoon...the black man is singing his tune... an ole salt sleeping his watch away... he’ll be drunk again before noon
He could care less….Meaning he cares a great deal already? Or did you mean he couldn’t care less. Thanks for 12 bottles of hot sauce 🙄. He does have a pretty major GI issue…
surprising you never sunk the pickled laughing would send new sailing fuel we have invented here but knowing you will spill it overboard cause an environmental disaster laughing you have a wonderful week
We wish you Calm Seas and Fair Winds. GREAT to see Pickled Herring in the water again. God Bless you. We so much enjoy all of your Adventures. 🇺🇸👍😎😍
Sam its great hearing from you again.! It's amazing how quickly we have become addicted to watching your Channel.
True 😁
Sameee!! It was those daily vlogs that sank the nail for me.
Sailing with you (on TH-cam) again after a long while feels like "home again'! I am looking forward to your/our summer trip across the Atlantic!
You were in your element Sam. Your smile had a beam reach! 😀
That was punny
6 knots with the bimini top as a drag chute and a dock fender as a drogue.
Sam, my I can hear my dad asking me to go get the fenders out of the water when I saw them dragging. Nice boat! Best regards.
Yes! Good to see you back in action.
Short and sweet video .... good to see you back out sailing on Pickled Herring! Thanks for sharing Sam!
Great to see you underway again enjoying the wind and water
Sam, you are my favorite you tube sailer and boat refit man . . . . keep posting these educational vids . . . . Cal 2o fleet Portland, Oregon

Nice Job! Great advice about sailing early and often before you finish all the projects.
Great work....now tidy up in there...it will look amazing.....Awaiting the announcement of the Atlantic crossing....!
Biggest smile in a long time.
Wow, beautiful sail..you were flying and your smile was amazing ⛵️⛵️🥰
Out for a sail, you made it back to port, nothing major failed. I count that as a massive win.
So nice to see you back out doing what you do best. Good winds for all upcoming voyages. Will be watching from Perth Australia 🇦🇺
Congrats on your first sail! We are across the Neuse off Clubfoot Creek. We are waiting for new sails so hopefully we will pass you by in July! Happy Sails, Sam.
Sam....longest weekend ever without a post. Glad your first sail went well.
Congratulations! It looks like you had a GREAT sail and the hard work is paying off. AWESOME channel!

So excited for upcoming voyages
You gotta love having the Dreaded Neuse as your test track. I’ve never crossed without a chop at least as high as what you experienced.
it's all coming together!
You need one good shakedown cruise in foul weather just to make sure the ship and rigging are sound. Nice work lad! Adventure awaits.
congratulations!
@@douglasdaniels1521 oh spare me please, look up the word pandemic, you might actually learn something.
Getting excited.

Rail in the water! Some serious sailing!
It looks so good going full blast like that!
Nicely making way.
I was really surprised that you drilled through the mast step.
"One more flat surface to collect junk." So true.
Hahaha. I was just about to type the very same thing! 😂
It's crunch time Sam!
Bon voyage
Love the videos! That boat look like so much fun!
Smooth sailing bro!

Yay! You uploaded.
It looks like you enjoyed that! Great stuff. Haha. The cabin afterwards looked like a teenager bedroom.

Sailing Sam, back in the saddle!
@@douglasdaniels1521 Get lost asshole
Well done
Best. Sailing. Channel.
Coming together Sam; looks great 👍
Looking good Sam nice progression 🚀😇🚀
Suggest you figure out someway to safe those bolt heads on the inside of the dodger. Nasty gash could result in fowl weather. 🤕
Time to sail to Cape verde hurricane alley.
Sailing again ! Cheers !

Sam… I can’t wait for “next time”, Bro! Don’t you need to seal that cable-tube with silicone sealant to keep moisture out?
Excited for your trip! When are you leaving? Will you be able to post videos during your Atlantic crossing?
Shipping water through an open port while dragging your fenders along beside you.
Nice!
Lol the 12 bottles of hot sauce got me
Who sent the hot sauce? I’m sure they’d appreciate some recognition. . . . ,
actually testing your boat? what kind of youtuber are you??
Ha. I like that you're doing things in a rational way.
Great Video

super small boat.
Surprised that junk floats - turn back immediately if not sooner...

Need to replace the virtual lifelines with some real ones! Are you putting in intermediate lifelines, or just the 2' high ones?

AMEN!!
I was glad, as maybe that meant he took a little down time now that he can R & R in a “sea worthy” vessel at the dock. 👍🏻.
Where to next Sam ?

Gettin on that lean
Why do those ropes need to be sent below?
get those fenders out the water, lol
