  • You have all been asking and we have finally been able to test the new @FordPerformance Gen 2 Cobra Jet Intake Manifold on our in-house dyno versus the Gen 1. We tried it on our 2022 Mach-1 test vehicle and compared it with a stock 2021 Mustang GT. Thanks to @Lundracing, we got a solid tune and eliminated as many variables as possible when testing. The tests with each manifold were all done on the same day as well. Check out the results and let us know what you think!

      They didn't inflate the numbers, but they sure deflated the numbers of the GT and Mach. They also forgot to mention alot of the gains for the CJ cars were due to the tune. If you slap on a basic tune on the Mach it will probably make more power than the CJ. But then Steeda wouldn't be able to sell the CJ or their airbox if stock Ford parts made more power.

    Thankyou for the comparison, I would definitely love to see a ported gen 1 vs ported gen 2 cj with free flowing exhaust. That aside, I feel the stock Mach 1 and the stock gt run should be taken with a grain of salt. Those where stock runs, so in addition to adding the cj, the tune was more aggressive than the stock runs. The cobra jet definitely will carry power out to 8000 the best, but this doesn’t show what the 18 and 350 manifolds can do when they are tuned more aggressively as well. Also when comparing the stock gt vs Mach 1, being that they have different factory tunes and one is open air intake I also don’t think that’s a good comparison. The Mach 1 definitely makes a good chunk more power in stock form, but I think it would be fair to get an aftermarket tune for both and leveling the playing field to truly show the difference in the manifolds.

    7:15 I’d love to see a Ported Boss with a 90mm TB Vs the CJ without porting and a twin TB because I feel they would be the same numbers and the Boss setup is so much cheaper. Nobody ever did that test with the ported Boss. I feel the CJ isn’t worth all that extra money unless you’re going full max effort NA racing and money doesn’t matter and it’s not worth it unless you do cams too and at that point you might as well do the Ported Boss with an ESS blower for a fun daily car. The Ported Boss deserves a real comparison.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว

      A ported cj with a mono is king. You will max absolute max na power with a cj. This is why all the fastest na cars run cjs. You need cams to truly take advantage of what they can do.

      @11secondeclipse ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midnight347 yes if you are going Max NA it might be worth all that money but with cams too. My point is that if you are utilizing the stock cams, like most people, buying a Ported Boss with a 90mm TB gives the same results as a Non Ported CJ with a twin and I’d like to see that exact back to back test. And the Boss setup is a lot cheaper and looks better too, imo. Same power curve and steadily pulls hard from 4K- 8K rpms. and then it’s ready for boost later too. They are both high rise intakes with similar power curves. The bottom of the intakes are identical.

Did Ford design the EVAP\PCV port(s) in this new CJ intake manifold to come out behind this bridge like the old 4.6L OEM 3V intake manifolds so that the EVAP fuel vapors & unmetered air will evenly mix\distribute into the incoming air thru the twin bore TB thus plenum\intake runners? The cj is the best na intake. You want max na power cj it is. The tbody setup is part of why the cj setup is the best. A cj with a mono tbody is the king. It doesn't shine unless you have headers and cams too. It will pull better above 7k than the gt350. If you ain't trying to go max effort na don't worry about the cj. Ford Performance LU47 injectors
    Pmas air intake system for Cobra Jet intake manifold

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It isn't meant to be ran on a stock engine. That manifold needs headers and cams to really shine. It doesn't add 5hp no matter what access the board it depends on your other supporting mods. If you aren't going to do headers AND cams you shouldn't be going with a cj anyways let alone the newest gen 2 cj. What do you expect? On a fbo headers, cams, e85 car I guarantee there would be more than 5hp between them. That is what this gen 2 was meant for max effort setups. It isn't gonna show what it can do on a stock motor.
