Terra Invicta (HF) E22: Alien fleets incoming (and HF securing Europe)

  • Expansion around Jupiter continues as humanity branches out from the inner solar system for the first time, brimming with confidence.
    There is a lot to be happy about - on Earth, the EU is being brought under control, in space the economy is stabilising and the fleet is winning a series of victories.
    So, we think, it must be time to advance our plans and seek new counters to the Hydra threat.
    Either the Hydra heard something of what we had planned, or they took offense at our Jupiter expansion because....well you'll see.
    Note: There is a slight continuity error in this video - two clips (two days apart ingame) are in the wrong order. Cutting room floor error that I don't think anyone would notice but marking it here in case anyone was confused.

    The way you describe the upcoming battle for the Jovian system is so exciting. I picture the absolutely brutal operational tempo for the crews in battlefleet Jupiter. Hotbunking. Constantly running simulations and manning every station even while docked. They keep pushing themselves knowing that reinforcements will arrive soon. And construction workers working like mad to finish battlestations to buy themselves just that much more time. While every second humanity's current largest fleet of warships draws closer. Sounds like a classic 90's RTS.
    In 2039, the combined American, Russian, Indian and commonwealth fleets burn for Jupiter and its moons whilst crews work day an night constructing fortifications on IO base. The attempt at an FOB to punch back against alien influence in the outer solar system has backfired, with a massive alien fleet assembling around Ganymede.
    Evaluating that this unprecedented concentration of force would be nigh insurmountable, command has dictated that all efforts should be put towards intercepting incoming xenos vessels.

Which goes to earth, bombards a few places or blows up a space station and leaves again. My theory there is that they have a foothold on earth that is currently stalemated. Due to naval dominance and I keep jumping their assault carriers. I rarely win but they burn so much fuel the carriers then retreat. Yeah, at least he doesn't have a ridiculously comprehensive series about the strategic, logistic and geopolitical aspects of a "Special Military Action" underway in Eastern Europe on another channel to take up any of his time with ludicrous amounts of research or anything.../s ( plus a fair amount of travelling on top of all that as well, going off what he says from time to time in those vids). The dude is COMMITED to churning out bulk quality content. Like, intravenous meals and shitting in a bucket at his desk levels of commited!
      Seriously, Perun? If you're reading this, do you EVER sleep? Maybe he's a Mechanicus Priest that got yeeted back to our time in a disastrous warp-crossing mishap or something? If so, this game is a retro classic for him! Which explains why he's the only TH-camr I've seen not crash n burn playing this.

    The next few months are going to be brutal for the crews of Battlefleet Jupiter. Hold on, boys, the cavalry's coming!
    It seems like you got your wish, though. If all goes well, you're going to be able to defeat the enemy's fleet in detail and take advantage of their absence to strike at their bases. If successful, you'll have seriously attrited the Alien capacity to make war both by reducing their income as well as destroying their very serious investment of resources in fleet power.
    If.

    • @LuaAMil
      @LuaAMil ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The reduction in resources is pretty negligible given their bases in the outer solar system. The main advantage would be the distance. Destroying the refuelling stations would force larger alien ships to stay out near Saturn since they don’t have the delta V to get to the inner solar system and continue operating. The Jovian campaign will buy breathing room to further expand the space industry free from Alien intervention. Then slamming into Saturn with a HF doom fleet is likely the right call but only once you’re out competing the aliens in terms of resources. Something that you can only realistically do if you they’re trapped in the outer solar system and the servants / protectorate have no real fleet presence.

    This is shaping up to be like The Pegasus showing up at New Colonia in BSG, the Prometheus showing up in Antartica in SG1, the ride of the Rohirrim at Pelanor fields.
    “There may come a day when the courage of men fails… An hour of Ayys and shattered ships when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day!”

    If you look at the base/station stats on the left, you can see the CMD points the alien bases have - I believe its lik16-18 on the ones I have looked at - I imagine their home base is much higher. So, being a few marines less than them, I can see why you had only a 20% chance on an assault - you definitely need vast numerical superiority to easily win. You also might want to consider repair bay - that MAY repair your marines, so if you do fail, you can much more quickly try again.

    • @pinkyfull
      @pinkyfull ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes and no. It's more investment point efficient but it's harder to manage. Also if they already have full mc in the region, which is possible, they can't build anything additional. And then you have to unify again with another year long timer

    • @Mechazava
      @Mechazava ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@pinkyfull No, I'm not talking about investment points efficiency. Some regions have "Colony Region" tag. Aside from some obscure economy effects it also forbids to build Mission Control (shows as -/0 in regions tab). To fix this you need to either cede it to some undeveloped nation that claims it or to grant it independence. After that tag is removed and it gets its 6 (or 8 if it has Core Economic Region, but I do not see any colonies like that) open MC points that can be invested into. After that you free to reintegrate region back however you want, tag wont return.

    Your playthrough truly demonstrates how there're multiple ways to skin a cat. In my playthrough, the name of the game was Weapons. No Unification researches, no Ring Habs, no orbital bombardment defense, nothing. I maximized my my research by taking EU (Eurasian), US, and China (China took a smooth year to pacify). Then it was all an arms race. I also researched as much protection as possible from alien hax. I finished research of Phasers and plasma by 2036. Nose mounted phasers with Heavy Plasma Batteries, escorted by about 5-10 cheap escort-class thermo-nuke bombers? That's GG.
    I must add that I never did anything to to the Servants to piss off the aliens. I never even downed an alien ship early-mid game for exotic material. As a matter of fact, I never researched ANY tech the needed exotics. Weapon systems that utilize exotics are superior, but aren't absolutely necessary for defeating the aliens in the field. I made sure to sign non-aggression pacts with all other factions by showering them with gifts and mad research projects. I kept the servants at a "tolerate" status, but kept sabotaging their research, and turning their councilors to my faction. Using this approach did not generate ANY hate with the aliens, and never changed status from "tolerate", to "war". But the protectorates? I grinded them down to paste. Quite literally, I made them my b***h. I ceased all their assets and everything they'd built up. Assassinations were carried out with regularity. Bleeding Europe some may say.
    Really enjoying your playthrough though👍👍
